5th thread!

Going by the pace of ‘Thread #4’, this could the last one as we might all have our babies by the time it runs out. Unless we all give detailed commentary during labour Grin.

Congratulations @Notyetthere on the arrival of your little princess!!!! This is the news I was hoping to wake up to 💕🎀 Excited to hear more details as and when you are able to share. Enjoy every precious moment.

Good luck with your sweep today @LuciBee231015 fingers crossed it will get things moving sooner rather than later, and @wildone81 keep us updated - sounds like another July baby will be making an appearance in June 🍼

@glitterglitters if it were me (and if DH were actually here 😢 sob) I would definitely consider it worth it to travel a bit further in order to have him stay over with me, especially as you know DD will be so well looked after with FIL at home. You'll need all the company, distractions and moral support you can get. It would be a no-brainer for me.

Thanks for the supportive hug @Lallypopstick 💐 still feeling fragile about the situation at the moment but I'll just have to take it day by day and see if circumstances change for the better. Hope you enjoy the wedding this weekend - I'm invited to one in Hampshire on 1st July and one in Cheshire on 8th but have now told them I can't make it. Definitely couldn't face those journeys and events without DH by my side at this stage. I'm even considering pulling out of a friend's birthday dinner in Brentwood tonight - just not in the mood to be on social show right now and even though it's not that far away on the map, it's a 1hr20 drive. I don't have the energy.

@mynameisntLinda I had a similar reaction to both iron and calcium tablets during this pregnancy - they can both be pretty rough on the stomach. But I changed to a liquid form of calcium and a capsule form of iron and it helped no end. I'm absolutely fine taking them now. Maybe investigate getting iron in a different form and it will be kinder to your digestive system.

glitterglitters · 23/06/2017 11:00

Just been for breakfast after dh got home from night shift.

Started to get twinges again but haven't said anything to him. I'm not saying anything until I'm totally sure.

Thanks @mynameisntLinda and you're right. I think dh would prefer if we got to that point for me to be induced. Purely because of the statistics etc. But I'm going to play it by ear. I got really, really depressed when I went overdue last time. It sounds super melodramatic but I was absolutely gutted and in tears every day. I think I'd probably be better this time but it's something I have to keep in mind.

I appreciate everybody confirming what I was thinking. I think I'll go further away and yes I'm very very lucky that I have both options available. It's also in my home county (West Sussex) so it's somewhere I know very well. My nieces were born there too (though my niece, nephews, daughter and husband were born at the midwife led unit I want to go to ideallyGrin) so it's got good memories associated with it already and the wards are nice.

Just the waiting game now. I'm so excited all the babies are going to start arriving. I think when dc pops up I'll probably post details on the Facebook group rather than on here, just because it's more private (closed group and all that) x

HaichM · 23/06/2017 11:26

Congratulations on the baby. It's exciting that they've started arriving already!

Lallypopstick · 23/06/2017 12:31

I'm not on Facebook, so I might be cheeky and PM some ladies when they've had their little ones. Feel free to ignore me though! And I'm happy to accept messages in return when I give birth.

glitterglitters · 23/06/2017 12:32

lol I wouldn't mind that @Lallypopstick :)

Flappergirl86 · 23/06/2017 12:35

Congratulations not!! BearWineFlowers xx

LuciBee231015 · 23/06/2017 12:45

Back from my sweep and all I can say is OUCH!!! ...came over a bit funny thought I was going to faint! My blood pressure was a bit high but think that's because I knew I was having that done!

She said baby is very low, she touched its head!!

glitterglitters · 23/06/2017 12:50

Oooh that's promising!!! I always describe it as a bit of a throwback to your first boyfriend getting a bit handsy 🙊😂

Also if you have a bit of blood don't panic. They forgot to tell me that and I freaked out.

rhodes2015 · 23/06/2017 13:01

luci oh god! 😬 Hopefully not too much longer for you

mynameisntLinda · 23/06/2017 13:22

@spindelina I vommed every day of my first pregnancy (literally every day bar 8 days), but thankfully wasn't sick at all in labour. The morning sickness has been so manageable this time but the iron is defo the cause so it's a toss up between being able to eat and having the iron so will speak to consultant on Monday

@butterflyfree i did start taking spatone which was good but because they've got me on high dosage I can't just take the spatone now. I'm on Ferrous Fumerate and have to take 2 a day. going to try having it just before bed and see if I can sleep through the sickness. i am going to ask the consultant about an iron injection if available.

@lallypopstick I wasn't on FB until i got towards the end of the MN group for DS. I had a fake name so no one I knew could find me haha I have my real name on there now and actual friends and family on there but very tempted to delete them all again. it was good for early hours company on night feeds haha. i'd be happy to message though : )

@luciBee231015 ooo how exciting. touching the cervix can make you go a little funny. I fainted when I had my coil fitted yet I was ok having a sweep. Did they mention the position of the cervix? sounds like it's facing forwards if they could reach it and reach the head :)

Seahawk80 · 23/06/2017 14:30

Hi Everyone! Happy Friday! I've been a bit quiet recently, just been really busy since I started mat leave - am like one of those retired people who is always moaning about how busy they are! Hope everyone is doing well.

@Twixes I would just ask your sister how she feels about the name. Our final choice for a girls name is one that my sister nearly used for her first daughter so I thought it was on her list but when I mentioned it she said they wouldn't use it now as it was such a contender first time around so you never know - I appreciate it is a very different situation with the fertility struggles.

Speaking of names we had liked a couple of "old lady names" for a girl e.g. Violet but have now chosen something totally different. My mum was honest and said she thinks it's an "x factor name" whatever that means and she doesn't like it. DH's parents were clearly horrified but were polite and said they liked it - still not sure which reaction I prefer!

@ButterflyFree sorry you've been having such a hard time, you still sound so positive considering everything. I'm also in London and would be up for a meet up.

@Notyetthere congratulations!!

Sorry to anyone I've missed - just had a quick skim read catch up. Babies should start to arrive thick and fast soon Smile

mynameisntLinda · 23/06/2017 15:18

@seahawk80 "old lady names" seem to be all the rage lately. not sure what an xfactor name is so i'll be keeping an eye out for your birth announcement lol my friend at work called her little Girl Bella and said when she was a few weeks old her mum then said "yeah I like the name now" and she was a bit like.. oh... didn't know you didn't like it to start with haha.
i'm not sure ours classes as and old lady name and i've heard a bit in the last few years. We decided on Matilda, but mainly because we like the nickname Tilly which is what my Papa (great grandad) used to call me when I was little. and it's also what my Nanna is still called by her best friend so it's a name with a little meaning. We've then gone for dh's mums name and my mums middle name for her middle names. I know 4 names is quite a bit of a mouthful but my son has 2 grandads that passed away for his middle names so as daft as it sounds i figured she needed 2 middle names so that they can't argue over who has the most names haha.

glitterglitters · 23/06/2017 15:21

@mynameisntLinda oh yeah you have to give them both the same amount of names! Smile My sister gets annoyed she wasn't named after our parents (my brother is a junior but we call him his middle name and my middle name was my mum's name).

My bil and sil didn't give their son a middle name. I found that really odd Grin

glitterglitters · 23/06/2017 15:21

Our middle names for this one are pretty out there tbh... especially the girl one.

ButterflyFree · 23/06/2017 16:09

Thank you @Seahawk80 💐 A London meet up could be on the cards if you find time in your hectic maternity leave schedule! Although at the rate these babies have started arriving......

@mynameisntLinda Oh I love the name Tilly 😍 one of my childhood best friends was a Matilda nn Tilly and she was such a sweetheart and has grown up to be a very kind, creative and elegant lady. Nice that the nickname has a significance in your family too.

@glitterglitters My mum gave me an 'out there' (at the time - it's not so unusual now... Savannah) middle name just in case I would follow her footsteps into television/showbiz as a career and would require a fancy stage name 😂 Then she was told upon attempting to register my birth that they wouldn't allow my initials to be LSD (I guess it was a sensitive subject in the early 90s lol) so she added an extra middle name.

With Baby Z he will have a total of 5 names as per the Arabic naming customs, but we only had to choose one of them as the rest are pre-determined. DH wants to make it 6 names in the British documentation by adding a typically English name somewhere in the middle too...what a mixed up child we're going to have 😅

Seahawk80 · 23/06/2017 16:11

Ha ha @mynameisntLinda I'm not sure what she means either! The girls name we've chosen is Piper, a bit unusual but not too out there. I'm sure we'll have a boy anyway so I told her not to get her knickers in a twist! She hated my niece's name and 4 years later has got over it!

Love the name Matilda- was v high up on our list. We also liked Violet which both my mum and MIL loved and are a bit disappointed- I have suggested that they could get a pet and call it Violet if they like the name that much 😂

glitterglitters · 23/06/2017 16:14

Haha my sister has an out there middle name too. She hates it but I've always been a bit jealous.

I love your mums reasoning for an unusual name. I know what a pain it can be to get an equity card with traditional names. Good thinking Grin

The LSD thing is funny though!!

My mums cousin was going to be called Drew Peter but the registrar said Drew P (droopy!) was too mean to call a baby. So he's called Peter but everybody calls him Drew.

Ramesh Ranganathan's real name is Johnathan in an attempt to give him a "British" name.

I love names Grin

I like it when the local paper does their beautiful baby competition so I can check out all the unusual names out there!

rhodes2015 · 23/06/2017 16:14

Hi seahawk
Good for you on keeping so busy on your mat leave, I've done bugger all, I'm going to make a bit more of an effort next week! Then hopefully the time till she arrives will go a bit quicker!

I think our name might be a bit of an old lady name. I picked it ages ago but dh was a bit Hmm but he really loves it now.
We weren't going to have a middle name as neither me or dh have a middle name but I think it's quite unusual not to to have one now so we have picked the name of the chapel where we got married at in Rhodes (explains the username) it's a very common girls name but spelt different (I presume the Greek version)

We have a very ugly sounding polish surname (we are both English but dh grandad was polish) that nothing goes with anyway so I didn't even take into account if the names we picked went with that Grin

glitterglitters · 23/06/2017 16:26

That's lovely @rhodes2015

I got engaged in Rhodes ❤️ beautiful place.

I really like the "old fashioned" names too and when I was young my mum did volunteering with the "old dears". They all had names like Dotty and Queenie, Edith and Ivy etc. Dh didn't like them though Sad

Our chosen girl's name is Welsh. Dh has a very Welsh name (his family were from Wales originally) his mum has a Welsh name too. It's to balance out dd1s name which is... I guess? American/Canadian/Spanish, but a nod to my childhood and upbringing as well.

Flappergirl86 · 23/06/2017 16:26

We've got a granny first name and a Welsh middle name for our girl so she can pick the one she prefers! I get called by both my welsh and my granny name (Rhiannon and Nell) in equal measure and it works for me.

In other news -John Lewis has a brilliant sale on baby clothes, even the boys stuff is really nice which is a bit rarer in baby clothes. I got all these for £5 or less each!

July 2017 #5 - Third Trimester is Here!
rhodes2015 · 23/06/2017 16:30

mynameisntlinda Matilda is very cute!! Love that!
seahawk piper is very original, I really like it.
Our name isn't unusual, more just underused. I've had quite mixed reactions to it but that's her name and we are sticking with it.
butterfly and glitter Grin at LSD and drew p!

rhodes2015 · 23/06/2017 16:35

flapper our name for our girl is Nell! I'm not sure where I even heard it but I really love it.
Ohh love that white dress!

glitterglitters · 23/06/2017 16:36

John Lewis clothes are like catnip for me. My sister and I went there the other day and nearly lost our voices from saying "Awwwwww!" Grin

ButterflyFree · 23/06/2017 16:53

LOL at Drew P @glitterglitters 😂

Loving all the names!! Piper and Nell 😍😍 I like the fact that quite quaint ('granny') names are coming back into fashion.

So I may as well share that Baby Z will be called Zayed, since it's no secret amongst our families and friends. It's pronounced exactly as it's written (NOT Zayeeeed - more like Zah-yed) and it's in honour of Sheikh Zayed who was the founding father of the United Arab Emirates back in 1974.

Another Arabic naming tradition which is quite sweet is that the parents are often referred to by the name of their first born - so DH will be known as 'Bu Zayed' (father of Zayed) and I'll be Um Zayed (mother of Zayed) 💙

However, since way before I even got pregnant, DH has been referring to our future son as Jesús, with the full on Spanish pronunciation (Hay-zoos), and it has completely and utterly stuck 😂 obviously there's absolutely no way we could actually name our son Jesús, being Muslim and all lol, but I think it will still stick as a private nickname between the two of us at home somehow...

glitterglitters · 23/06/2017 17:03

Ohhh that's a lovely name. I'm loving all the names.

I'll share tooGrin

If it's a girl (and that's what the sonographer thought but was only 60% sure) we're pretty sure she will be called Cerys.

Middle name Astoria (though I did bandy about Astrid as well but dh preferred the meaning behind Astoria for us)

And if it's a boy we're torn between Travis or Caleb. Middle name is Hudson (similar meaning to Astoria).

Their big sister is Ramona Lana :)
