5th thread!

Going by the pace of ‘Thread #4’, this could the last one as we might all have our babies by the time it runs out. Unless we all give detailed commentary during labour Grin.

Aww Twixes, try not to worry - easier said than done I know. She's still on the centile chart, so not abnormally small. Like you said, she could be taking after her dad. No two babies are the same.

I know a mum whose eldest, aged 7, has been under a dietician and other professionals since birth because she's so teeny. She had another baby a few months ago and this one's a real chunk and nothing like her sister size wise. Same mum and dad but totally different build.

LuciBee231015 · 24/04/2017 09:30

Ah Twixes, must be a horrible feeling. It's easier said than done but do try not to worry. They might check baby out on Friday and everything is fine. Fingers crossed for you xx

Twixes · 24/04/2017 10:14

Thanks girls. I'll do my best to stay off Dr Google... but I'm the worst. Sure I was googling things before we even got into the car after our last appointment!

I'm going to see a sonographer and then a different consultant on Friday (mine is away on holidays) and will have a whole list of questions for both of them.

I've had a cold and cough since before Christmas and I wonder if that has something to do with the baby not growing well. I've literally had one cold after another and have been quite run down. My doctor gave me inhalers last year but I've never been officially diagnosed with asthma...I think asthma can effect a baby's growth

Notyetthere · 24/04/2017 11:00

Parsnip I don't use that particular brand but I do use one I bought cheaply off the internet especially when I'm standing or cooking in the kitchen and getting chores done. It is not very comfortable sitting down with it though. I find the back support that comes with the belt very good.

OP posts:
Notyetthere · 24/04/2017 11:10

Twixes I have asthma but I didn't know that it could affect growth. I'm quite the opposite to you in the 1st measurements of mine at 28wks was way above the centile range which worried me a little that I would have a big baby. I haven't been scanned so going only by the fundal figures. If your asthma is quite dormant then I believe pregnancy tends to makes it asthma worse which maybe is why yours came with pregnancy. However, that cold/cough that you have had since xmas must be very uncomfortable. I don't know how you have managed. Hope all goes well for you on Friday.

Twixes · 24/04/2017 14:09

Maybe my asthma theory is nothing then Notyetthere...are you expecting a boy or a girl? I think asthma effects girls more for some reason. I'm clutching at that for now because I'm hoping it's nothing else!

Notyetthere · 24/04/2017 17:14

I'm having a girl. My asthma had stopped for months last year but came back during 2nd trimester where I had to start using both brown and blue inhalers to keep on top of it. Now just managing it with brown. Hopefully it will go again after baby is born.

Twixes · 24/04/2017 19:27

Ah ok notyet, that kind of debunks my theory. Only another couple of days til my appointment now anyway

Need2morehands · 24/04/2017 19:28

Hi everyone just found this thread can I join too? Dc no2 due July 8th Smile

LuciBee231015 · 24/04/2017 19:37

Has anyone else got the weird tingling and numbness feeling at the top of their belly? Like at the very top under my boobs. Mine goes really numb, sometimes itchy and sometimes sore. Nothing to see seen there tho... I've had a look on a few old threads and it's seems like I'm not the only one. Just finding it really irritating!

bluebird1235 · 24/04/2017 21:39

@LuciBee231015 I have a patch of slightly weird skin just at the bottom of my ribs on the right side. It's numb and can't feel temperature at all. It bothers me sometimes, not really itchy just slightly uncomfortable. I mentioned to my midwife and she said it was quite common. It bothers me a lot less now I've been putting my belly cream on it every night!

danigrace · 25/04/2017 08:28

Welcome @Need2morehands and other newbies! What's your due date? What baby number are you on?

Big hugs Twixes, fingers crossed you'll get there on Fri and she's had a bit of a growth spurt.

Had whooping cough jab last week (wasn't bad at all, very slight numbness when raising arm anove head on day 2, but no pain at all). Our NCT isn't until end May / beginning June.

Currently following the pregnancy meal plans on the baby centre website, anyone else seen those?
Still doing 3 x weekly classes (preg yoga, preg pilates, & aquanatal) love them all, can really feel the benefits to my strength and stamina and keeping my sacroiliac pelvic pain at bay.

Imaginarymenagerie · 25/04/2017 08:30

Hello ladies. Just checking in to the new thread, I've not really been around much as have been so busy with work and visitors at the weekends! I was 30 weeks yesterday so feeling like I want to get things sorted, planning to pack my hospital bag this week so need to stock up on a few things for that.

We are planning to use reusable nappies so have got a few of those to try. If anyone else is planning to do the same it is Real Nappy Week this week so plenty of bargains to be had and lots of places running competitions and giving away freebies too. Smile

For those who are looking at support belts, I've been seeing the obstetric physio for pgp and she said that they are really designed to be worn while standing so one wasn't appropriate for me as I'm up and down all day with my job. She's given me a gigantic tubi grip instead that covers from just under my boobs to my hips. It seems to help although I find myself taking it off mid afternoon if I have a particularly long day as can feel a little constricting. Double checked with my midwife though and it is perfectly safe for baby - I was a bit worried I might be squishing him!! Confused

Need2morehands · 25/04/2017 08:46

Other then sickness I never had any pains with my first but with no2 I had days where I can hardly walk iv got a overly combination of sciatica and pgp if that's it's initial iv tried yoga and while I enjoy the relaxation and quiet everything I do hurts. Iv resorted to wearing a tens machine for really bad days. Il be 30 weeks on Saturday and iv already packed unpacked re packed my suitcase about 10 times it seems like b day is fast approaching Shock

Twixes · 25/04/2017 08:56

Well done on getting things sorted Imaginary, I don't have a huge amount to do as it's DC2 but I'm going to start washing the new pink babygros I've bought and will put them away.

I'm also having an ELCS so that changes what I'll need for my hospital bag. You should've seen what I brought for DC1!! Sooooo much stuff but there was no talking to me because I like to be prepared for every eventuality!

My to do list is:

Check what size babygros I have
Wash all
Buy couple pairs of new PJs
New slippers
New baby towel
Couple of new baby blankets
Nipple shields (v important!)
Newborn nappies

Big things that need to be done:
Borrow cosleeper from friend
Buy double buggy (ugh!)
Buy chest of drawers for the little one

Twixes · 25/04/2017 08:59

SPD is the worst! I got it quite early last time (~19 weeks) but it's only starting to bother me at 28/9 weeks this time. Oh lord I don't look forward to the awful stabbing groin pains you get when you turn in bed at night...owwww

I got this thing from the hospital physio

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B007K6CZOG/ref=mpssa116aa_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1493106478&sr=8-6&keywords=sacroiliac+belt

Not sure how much use it was because I was useless at remembering to put it on. Reviews are good though.

glitterglitters · 25/04/2017 09:46

Hey guys, I think I may start planning my bag packing now. I'm feeling really chuffed as I got a blogger email (one of my writing jobs) offering me a fancy new leather hold-all bag for some writing. So I don't have to buy one now 😂

Going to head into town tomorrow and buy some bits. I think I'll get a new outfit for the baby coming home. Hopefully I won't get in a "disagreement" with the midwifes this time round for refusing to put a hat on the baby when we leave hospital. It was the middle of a heatwave 😂

danigrace · 25/04/2017 12:54

@Imaginarymenagerie we're real nappying too Smile Pointers in directions of locations of freebies and competitions gratefully received!!

glitterglitters · 25/04/2017 15:30

Dh is blowing up the ball. It's all getting very real now.

I've got some reusable nappies but I'm not sure I've got the stamina to give them a bash again 🙈

Twixes · 25/04/2017 15:53

Hats off to anyone who uses reusable nappies, I'm too disorganised for that carry on!

I'd say our wheelie bin is about half full of nappies every two weeks, I darent think how many we've used in the last 18 months with DS! So bad they all go into landfill...

Spindelina · 25/04/2017 16:43

I'm a bit inclined towards lentil weavery, so I'd love to use reusable nappies. But it's DHs decision really - he'll take over as primary carer at 6mo - and he's much less lentil leaning.

I'll content myself with my slings. The buggies are his Grin

glitterglitters · 25/04/2017 17:27

lol lentil weaver 😂

Imaginarymenagerie · 25/04/2017 18:20

@danigrace I've entered loads in the last few days, I've won a cheeky wipes hands and faces kit which I was very pleased with.

On Facebook I've found competitions on Babipur (main page and Babipur Hangout group), Cheeky Wipes, Close Parent.

Also fluffybabybum on instagram - I'm a definite instagram beginner though! Haven't ventured into the world of nappies on twitter yet! Might need to apologise to all my Facebook friends about the baby spam!

I've got a lovely friend in RL who uses reusables and seems to have a 6th sense for finding freebies so she's tagging me in stuff and sending links. Most posts seem to have the RNW hash tag on them so can maybe search by that to find more? Good luck!

bluebird1235 · 25/04/2017 19:59

Has anyone ever taken DH to their midwife appt? I have one tomorrow and DH has a day off. He's keen to come but worried that he's not welcome! I think it'll be fine but he wanted me to ask if anyone has done it before!

bluebird1235 · 25/04/2017 20:02

Also, just threw up the last bit of my dinner when I coughed... that was a bit of a surprise. I guess my stomach doesn't quite have enough space anymore!!
