Lovely pic Cuppa! Must be such a relief to know it's all looking good!

I'm just on folic acid & a vit D spray. Never taken pregnacare but I'm struggling to swallow the tiny folic acid tablets! I've got a little pack of pregnacare that came in the pack my midwife gave me but I won't take them. Wondering if I can give them to the local foodbank or I might just give them back & ask the MW to give them to someone who might use them. Seems a shame to waste them!

Right, I've got the DCs up, breakfasted, dressed, to church & back and entertained them with an Easter egg hunt that left the 3yo exclaiming "I'm so lucky, aren't I?!" repeatedly. Grin Half a dozen small hollow eggs, 2 kinder eggs & a bunny - not that much! I've told DH I'm off duty & he can do everything else for the rest of the day while I sleep! I only had 4 hrs sleep last night. I seem to be turning nocturnal! Confused

Hope everyone has a lovely Easter! Easter Smile

I'm so glad other people have mentioned being cold - I've been freezing and I'm usually so warm blooded. I'm having to sleep in my dressing gown at night and with socks on - something I won't usually do even in the depths of winter!

I think I'm at 9 weeks now (booking in appointment next week) and several friends have guessed already.

Zampa · 16/04/2017 16:25

Thanks all for smoked salmon reassurance!

Happy Easter! Easter Smile

Foggymist · 16/04/2017 18:40

@DryHeave how did they guess??

I think one person has guessed, (well not guessed, snooped & read my posts), I think nobody else has a clue. Just the way I like it, I absolutely hate telling people. I thought maybe I just hated it because I was sonever cautious and scared in my first pregnancy but nope, I'm the same way now. Didn't tell some friends until 30 weeks last time, never told facebook "friends"!

butterybollocks · 16/04/2017 18:44

I took pregnacare last time and I think I remember realising - fairly far into my first trimester - that it was contributing to my nausea. I'm taking sanatogen pregnancy vits this time, mostly because they are cheap but also they include ginger extract which I thought was quite clever!

Sent my husband up to the loft today to dig out all my maternity clothes as I need bras and my jeans are getting tight. Found loads of jeans up there...hoping they fit as I'm sure my arse is bigger than it was 5 years ago when I last wore them Blush

theotherendofthesockportal · 16/04/2017 19:59

Today I have done very little, apart from a walk in the park with my husband. I've managed to feel queasy by doing nothing! How is this even possible?

My midwife gave me a little pack of pregnacare but I haven't taken them as I can't cope with with feeling any more sick than I already do. I'm taking folic acid and vitamin d

Mummyagainmaybe · 16/04/2017 20:14

Lovely pic Cuppa

I'm only on vit D and folic acid too. Never taken pregnacare as some sceptics say multivitamins just make for expensive wee _

Hope everyone has had a happy easter x

GingerHanna · 16/04/2017 21:19

Great news and pic Cuppa. Really happy for you.

Hazandduck · 16/04/2017 21:21

Ah cuppa that scan is so clear and looks like a real baby! Congrats :)
I'm taking the Sainsbury's own brand conception tablets, they are bloody massive but I've been taking them for so long now I'm used to it (since I miscarried last year) and they have ginger extract in them too so I imagine that is helping with stopping nausea!
Thanks for sorting the new thread Agnu xx

Zampa · 16/04/2017 21:37

My gag reflex becomes super-sensitive during pregnancy, to the extent where it's difficult to clean my teeth. It can be embarrassing in public too!

I've just gagged so extremely it resulted in throwing up.

I've no idea how to stop it! Any ideas?!

Hazandduck · 16/04/2017 21:42

I find deep breaths helps. Also walking away from the sink (I sometimes make myself feel gaggy brushing my tongue.) Thinking you are going to gag tends to provoke it! Maybe try having a book/magazine/your phone/tablet to hand to preoccupy you while you brush? Then you won't be thinking about what's going on in your mouth? Xx

Aliceinchunderland · 16/04/2017 21:49

Hi all,
I've been lurking for the last couple of weeks but wanted to wait before I properly started posting.

I'm 8+1 today, first pregnancy, EDD 26/11.

Really struggling with pregnancy sickness at the moment, so much so that I've had to phone in sick for work which I feel really guilty about. I feel nauseous all day and vomit a few times a day. Really can't wait for the first trimester to be over and done with!
Hope everyone else is feeling ok

Mummyosborne1983 · 16/04/2017 22:17

Just marking my place on the new thread x

Mummyosborne1983 · 16/04/2017 22:21

@Aliceinchunderland - you can get anti-sickness meds from gp- I had them with my first two pregnancies and they really helped.

Pregnacare tabs - they are massive aren't they. I do take them, I take the pregnancare plus ones, so two tablets. I took them all the way through with my first 2 pregnancies and will again.

I have my booking appointment on Wednesday - will make it feel a lot more real. It's quite late as I'll be nearly 9 wks! Xx

lydiangel83 · 17/04/2017 03:37

I've just realised I will be 12+3 at my 12 wk scan and worried this is too late to do all the relevant tests. Away the precious 2 wks in Japan so may try and get early appt in next 2 wks...don't fancy my chances on NHS tho not sure private test does all the screenings?

MrsC1982 · 17/04/2017 06:36

I'm an avid facebooker but would rather wait until the news is out before joining a group... unless it's one of those super private ones!

We have only unleashed the baby bomb on a select few and so far it has been a mixed reaction of tears, "about time" and a touch of screaming thrown in for good measure Grin

Topsyloulou · 17/04/2017 06:37

Lydia they can do the 12 week scan & screening anywhere between 11+3 and 14+3 so you'll be fine at 12+3. If they can't see the nuchal fold to get a measurement you can have a quadruple blood test at around 16 weeks.

My scan date has come through for 12 weeks exactly but need to move it as DM is having an op the day before & I'm her responsible adult so can't leave her alone. DP is desperate to come but with working away the chances of me getting a time he can make are slim, will keep my fingers crossed when I ring tomorrow. If he can't make it then might go for a private scan so he can see the baby & know everything is ok for himself.

Anyone with DCs already when are you planning on telling them & how?

GingerHanna · 17/04/2017 06:46

Lydia My '12' week scan is at 12+4 and it's not an issue. They deliberately booked it a bit later as I was measuring 6+3 not 6+6 at my first scan but it was difficult to be accurate as the bean was so small!

I'll be getting my bloods taken for the NIPT at the same time. Grateful that I can choose to have that straight away instead of the combination test and it costs basically the same which was a surprise. Will still come out of my insurance excess but given the insurance company thought it would be €600 and it's actually €175 I'm happy (excess is €385 and think I've used about €50 this year so far!).

DryHeave · 17/04/2017 06:55

@Foggymist a close friend who lives in another country who I haven't seen for ages, so when I didn't partake in the champagne to celebrate a rare meet up, they just knew! Another is my closest colleague who guessed when I was refusing all offers of coffee and making my excuses to not go to after work drinks. And another couple along similar lines. I'm incapable of lying so when they asked I couldn't say no.

I don't want to do an 'announcement' (except at work after I've let HR know and only because my team will need to be told all together) but rather let it come out naturally when I see people face to face.

@mummyosborne I'm already past 9 weeks and my booking in is next week as well - they don't want to hear from you before 7 weeks here & then you wait for an appointment.

DuRezidal · 17/04/2017 07:22

Well my competition breeches were very tight yesterday! I have to wear them again today and not hugely looking forwards to squeezing myself into them 😜

I seem to be start

DuRezidal · 17/04/2017 07:24

Sent before finishing...

I seem to be starting to feel less exhausted this week and can actually stay awake later than 9pm so things must be changing slightly.

I still get nervous every time I use the bathroom, I even had a dream that I was bleeding last night and woke up really worried, but if I can get to the end of this trimester and have a scan I think I will stop worrying so much.

The worry is pretty irrational (I hope) as I had a good pregnancy last time. But so many people I know have suffered MCs and later losses that it does make you more aware.

Foggymist · 17/04/2017 08:02

DryHeave yeah they do sound like giveaways alright, I was envisioning friends just looking at you and guessing!

We'll do the same in terms of telling people as we see them, I have an idea of how to tell them without saying it, I really am not great at saying it out loud!

Lydia my 12 week/first hospital appt was booked for 15 weeks last time, I changed it because I was going on holidays that week but only to 14 weeks. 12+3 couldn't be any more precisely on time, they don't mean 12 weeks exactly to the day.

MrsGB2225 · 17/04/2017 08:30

topsy - we are taking our 2 year old to the scan because we don't have family near by. If he's interested and all goes well, we will tell him then. If he's not that bothered, I'll tell him at the 20 week scan when we know if he's getting a brother or sister.
I already say now how he has to be careful of my tummy all the time though.

MrsGB2225 · 17/04/2017 08:33

lydia my booking in appointment is when I'm 11+3 and my scan I'll be 12+3. I've also got a cervical scan at 16 weeks because I had a lot of CIN III cells removed last year.

TeaAndPjs · 17/04/2017 09:15

I avoid pregnacare ad made me so nauseous Before, I take the healthy start 1s the MW gives you, £1.25 a bottle and easy to swallow!

Oh it's getting real now all our booking in apps are coming round! Mine is on Thursday
