Due to recent sad news and at the suggestion of others, I have started this new thread. Let's hear everyone's news.......

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Nettee · 16/03/2007 19:07

In case anyone was waiting with baited breath for chick news, I did manage to catch the last one and all seven are happy with mum now.

Holly - sorry you have to go away for your birthday on your own (or just with bump) hope it goes quickly.

Nicki - I had loads of wierd pains in my first pregnancy including really nasty cramping and achy stretchy type pain. I think it is mostly all normal. I haven't had any yet this time but I expect that is because it has all stretched before. oh and this is the time for bubba to be moving out of the pelvis so probably that is what it is

re: pushchair, would definitely NOT recommend a travel system. All my friends ended up selling them or giving them away after 6 months because they are so heavy and cumbersome, not to mention expensive. My best buy was a maclaren techno xt here ; really easy to push and fold, and will fit in most boots. You might want a pram for a tiny one as it would be a bit more comfortable for them, try to borrow one or get a used one cheap as you will only use it for 4 months or so.

hammerheadshark - I am having one bubba after twins and it is so exciting to just need to buy one cot, one carseat etc.... I am loving it .

nh101 - my advice would be to avoid a double buggy if you can, lots of older children hate them and would rather be on a buggy board, plus they are so much more cumbersome.

Congratulations FioFio - it is so lovely to confirm there is a baby there - that is great news

FlossALump · 17/03/2007 09:53

Lovely news Fio.

Have just got my scan date this morning for the 24th april. Seems ages away but it only seems like yesterday that I was 8 weeks pregnant. No worrying what to do with DS as they ask you not to bring younger children. Could ask friends as they mention about if you are told bad news and the child being there. I'd feel like I'd be tempting fate now to take him with us. I'm also assuming that DP will be able to get the time of work!! Hopefully he can just work an extra hour or so at the end of the day. Sorry am rambling.

I seem to be feeling more tired than before! I'm in bed by 10 every night at the moment, and asleep within about 15 minutes! Most unlike me. Yesterday i tried to go for a nap too, only DS wasn't co-operating.

kinki · 17/03/2007 11:52

Hello everyone, I'm so glad to be back here. I've just spent the last week in hospital. The baby's fine, I was in because of complications with asthma. I've been ill since January, and they thought it was about time they got me in to sort me out.

I'm feeling a bit better now, mainly tired due to difficulty catching my breath. I'm also a bit worried about all the drugs I've had to have, but I've been assured there shouldn't be complications. Though I wonder about the amount of steroids I've had/having, I reckon I'll probably give birth to a 2 stone baby.

The good news is they reckon they might have got to the bottom of the problem: apparently I've been been having (symptomless) gastric reflux - they can see the effects in my throat - which is then being aspirated into my lungs, triggering off my asthma and giving me fluid in my lungs. Yuk. Horrible, but at least we have a plan to get it sorted now.

I had a scan of the baby when I was in hospital. One of my colleagues did it, and was able to spend a bit extra time. I had an internal scan, so we got some brilliant images, and most excitingly we found out the sex - I'm having my 3rd boy! I'm so thrilled. I was only 12+1 when scanned, so know how lucky I am to know. I'm being re-scanned Wed week, so she said she'll double check for me then. I'd been getting flutterings in my tummy for a few days, and I had them during the scan. She was able to confirm that what I felt was definately the baby moving.

So although I've had a crappy week, seeing my little son more than made up for it. It's great to catch up on everyones news. I loved reading about your intended purchases. Don't suppose my dh will let me buy a thing for this baby, especially as its our 3rd boy. Oh well, I'll just browse. Good luck to you all. Enjoy the weekend. [By the way, I've not seen the news for a week, are people pulling my leg about snow this weekend? Or is it for real? It looks alright out there to me.]

sophus · 17/03/2007 17:02

Had one day free from sickness and it's back (yet again) like the proverbial bad penny. Just booked holiday in May though. So had better stop puking in time for getting on a plane or else will be seriously miffed...
Partner off to US for two weeks, so can eat what i like when i like, go to bed at 8pm and go maternity shopping without him going "you're obsessed". Also sending him with extensive shopping list for maternity Gap which you can't get here.
Off to try my first run in god knows how many weeks. Gadzooks.

Welcome pepa!!

nh101 · 19/03/2007 13:30

Welcome Pepa!

Honey, I was glad to get in Wed to be honest, I am sure they are seeing me as soon as they can.

I am trying to look on the bright side - it was supposed to be a week on Fri before my scan (cos the one I had at 10 weeks was too early) but now it is two days.

honey2theb · 19/03/2007 13:46

oks nh, as long as your cool with it!
i'm just a bit of a stress head

nh101 · 19/03/2007 14:33

Well the bleeding has started again and it is quite red (but still quite dark) but there is still no pain. I am going to go home from work and might not come in again until after my scan Wed so will update you then.

honey2theb · 19/03/2007 14:49

Good luck nh, i really hope all is well. will be thinking of you.

atalantis · 19/03/2007 15:54

Thinking of you nh101. Do take it easy at such a stressful time.
