Due to recent sad news and at the suggestion of others, I have started this new thread. Let's hear everyone's news.......

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Hopeitwontbebig · 19/03/2007 16:41

Take it really easy NH, phone the EPU if you get any worse. Thinking of you.

JemimaPuddleduck07 · 19/03/2007 20:33

Hi, Hope it's ok if I join in. Have been lurking for ages but have had previous mc so didn't want to tempt fate by joining too soon! Not sure how to add myself to list but am in East Sussex, due 14th Sept, have one DD age 7 and one mc.

laksa · 19/03/2007 21:46

Sorry to post and run, so many posts to catch up on!

Had my scan at Kings today. It was lovely being able to see baby on screen. I was expecting lots of somersaults like alot you ladies have described but I have a lazy one...who just snoozed away and arched his back every now and then!

Its amazing to hear a heartbeat isn't it

results of nuchal 1:13100 Am relieved. I didn't want to have the nuchal in the first place and was dreading a fight with people if the risk had been high as had already told dh I was not going to have the amnio and risk miscarriage under any circs, this way I am spared the fight....

Hope everyone is doing well.
Will be less self obsessed next post!
xx

MrsMar · 19/03/2007 22:01

Hi all, haven't been around recently, busy weekend...

So sorry to hear your news lovelylou, I hope we'll be seeing you back on these boards really soon. Take care xxx

Laska - great news on the nuchal results, so nice to be able to relax, I was really pleased with 1:1000 but you must be 13 times more relaxed!!! fantastic!

NH - I've posted on your other thread, I hope all goes well, keep us posted!

I'm huge now, getting a wee bit worried about the weight gain, I had my booking in appointment at the weekend, and I'm soooo glad the midwife didn't weigh me. I'm already undoing the top button on almost every pair of trousers when sitting down and my boobs are huuuuuge! Still I did walk 10k today. Couldn't face running with this huge boobs, so I walked my old 10k route. with ipod on shuffle, lots of spring sunshine (this morning anyway!) felt fantastic afterwards if a little thirsty. Note to self, must take water bottle! Gonna do it again tomorrow if the weather isn't too horrendous, not sure I can face it in the snow, nips get horribly painful when they're cold!

After our discussion about haircuts a couple of weeks ago, I've gone and had most of mine lopped off! Actually quite pleased with it. It sounds a little dated, but it's kind of meg ryan ish (without the looks of course) but it quite suits me if I do say so myself. Even dh approves, and he doesn't even notice these things normally!

I hope everyone is happy and well and not too snowed in (nothing much down here in London, only hail, thunder, snow, sleet, rain and glorious sunshine - all in the space of one hour!!!)

xx

Nettee · 20/03/2007 07:50

Great news on the scan Laksa. Mrs Mar you are putting me to shame - my poor doggies are lucky if they get a quick up and down the road walk at the moment. Weather is odd at the moment isn't it - sounds very similar in London to here.

I am going to have another MS moan - I am 14 weeks now and expecting to be cured but spent yesterday afternoon puking. So unpleasent. When will it end? I blame it on the late shift the evening before making me tired but this week I am working nights so it can only be worse. After some of the sad news we have had on this thread I am trying to be grateful that it is a sign that baby is well in there.

On the bright side I am sure I am now feeling baby move - very early I know but I wasn't feeling the same this time last week.

Nettee, I share your moan! I'm coming up for 14 weeks soon and I thought my hyperemesis thingy had faded enough for me to cope but it came back yesterday with a vengeance! I've decided to go back on the anti-sickness tablets again as I really need to get back to work. Just a few days ago, I got a bit silly and started to worry about feeling OK and didn't want to lull myself into a false sense of security but now there's no mistaking this baby is doing its thing which can only be good. I wish it felt like that lol!

I tried ginger biscuits but they don't do anything grrrrr!

lou031205 · 20/03/2007 09:55

Hi all

Sorry for long abscence - congrats for all with positive scans. So sorry for lovelylou, and others. I can't imagine the pain of going for scan and coming away devastated.

Toadstool - Have you checked out Maternity Allowance? upto £110 per week. Qualify by having 26 weeks (not necessarily consecutive) employment in last 66 weeks. Submit your best 13 weeks' payslips (again not necessarily consecutive), make sure they are your highest if your wage varied, and you get either 90% of average wage, or £110, whichever lower, for 39 weeks. You choose when it starts, any time between 29 weeks and birth.

For me, it means that although I only earn £50 per week now (so don't qualify for SMP), after a drastic cut from 30 hours to 5 hours per week in Jan '07, I will be able to use my old wageslips from July-October '06 which will entitle me to the whole £110 per week.

If you have worked recently, it may help you.

Lou (15+3)

LadyOfTheFlowers · 20/03/2007 09:56

seeing your thread has just shocked me a bit! ds2 was born last year on sep 10th, he'll be 1 soon....

Hopeitwontbebig · 20/03/2007 10:02

Morning all.

nh101, hope you're ok.

Hi MrsMar, glad you're pleased with your haircut and DH noticed. I'm fairly pleased with my hair, it's just a bit high maintenance, looks a state when I've first dried it, ALL over the place. Maybe I should just imbrace my crazy curls and kinks

Welcome PuddleDuck!!!!

Nettee and Purple.... when I was really nausious, the one thing that REALLY helped me was to have a couple of sips of coke, not diet though. It seemed the combination of sugars and salts was perfect to settle my queasiness. Hope you're feeling better soon girls.

Congrats Laksa on your nuchal results

canadianmum · 20/03/2007 12:48

Hello everyone. Finally told my 4 year old twin boys about the baby. They are being so sweet, want to give the baby all of their old toys and clothes etc... They have also come up with names - Rumpelstiltskin for a boy and Princess Poppy for a girl.

Now I don't want any of you trying to steal those names if you give birth first...

GOOD for you honey, I just scoffed a cream egg...yum

TeeCee · 20/03/2007 14:19

Hi all

So sorry to read LovelyLou's news So, so sorry.

I hope everyone else is feeling OK.
I've been going to bed about 9 most nights! Am having to get out my old maternity clothes this weekend as my jeans just end up feeling too uncomfortable halfway through the day. Already in my old maternity bras. I can't get over the size of my boobs already, they scare me!
I have to stop eating chocolate eclairs etc. Am eating healthily but then go and eat a load of sweet scrummy stuff straight after! This morning I had 2 pasties! I'm outrageous!

TeeCee (13 weeks exactly)

EdieMcredie · 20/03/2007 16:17

So sorry again Lou.

NH101 Hope it is good news tomorrow. Bleeding is quite common-normal for 40% of women. Have fingers crossed.

I haven't felt baby move for 24 hrs. Is that anything to worry about this early on?

atalantis · 20/03/2007 16:52

Not really qualified to say, Edie, but I think it's really normal for baby to appear to stop moving this early. Perhaps he/she has turned inwards and is kicking fluid rather than you, or kicking placenta even. Am very envious that you've felt kicking at all -- can't wait for the day that happens.

LOL at the names, canadianmum

sophus · 20/03/2007 17:24

edie - i got worried because i could suddenly sleep on my tummy again and couldn't feel anything - then i realised that it coincided with my constipation disappearing and realised that what i had thought was the baby was actually.....
Had dr's appt today - told me not to worry about weight. She said baby was obviously thriving and that's all she cared about. So went out and bought a Dr-sanctioned pain chocolat. Also heard baby on the doppler for the first time which was way way cool. Booming out across the surgery.
Anyone got back ache - i'm about ready for a wheelchair.
S

MrsMar · 20/03/2007 18:33

Hi y'all!

sophus - I've got a bit of a backache, I have a terrible back anyway, knackered disc, but this is lower, the top of my pelvis. A bit like I've fallen and landed on my coccyx. Of course it could be that I've got terrible posture, all that slumping on the sofa!

Netee - don't be too impressed, I didn't do my walk today, too lazy. I had to go to the hospital early as I'm taking part in a pre-eclampsia study and had to have my capillaries examined and bloods done this morning. I had to fast from last night, so was pretty pathetic when I got home. More slumping on the sofa! I must be more motivated!!!!! Will try and get to the gym tomorrow.

Edie - sorry I can't offer any advice, I haven't felt anything yet myself, so I have no idea how often you should feel them at this stage. I'm sure it's all fine, there's still quite a bit of room in there, so perhaps the LO is just swimming around a bit!

Canadianmum - your boys sound soooo cute, and I love the names. My nieces have come up with very trad names (only girls ones though, don't want me to have a boy!)

Hopeitwontbebig - dh did slightly undo his compliments by saying I look like Natasha Kaplinsky now!! EEK! Must do a Britney now! hehe! Mine is a bit high maintenance too, needs far too many products for my liking! As someone with boringly straight hair (with odd wavy bits in all the wrong places) I'd love to have curls, you should release the curls!

I hope everyone else is well and happy, have a great evening. NH I hope things are alll still well.

Take care xx

spangly · 20/03/2007 19:38

Hi all,
Haven't posted for a while - busy trying to sell house. I'm very impressed with all of you who have been exercising. I really should think doing some myself, especially with the amount of sweet stuff I'm getting through

Lovelylou - so sorry to hear your news. I was really saddened by it. Hope to see you on the boards again soon.

Nh101 - hope everything is ok and you get good news tomorrow.

Edie - I'm not feeling anything yet with this pg but I remember last time the movements early on weren't that regular.

Sophus - I'm so jealous that you got to hear your baby on the doppler I asked the midwife if it was too early and she said they probably wouldn't start listening until after the 20 week scan! It seems like such a long wait.

Is anyone else getting given different due dates by everyone they see? Everyone's working fron the same dates but for some reason each time someone's tried to work out the due date they've worked it out different. I'm going with the date I've wroked out from the scan.

Hope everyone's feeling well and having a good evening x

toadstool · 20/03/2007 20:07

lou031205 - many many thanks! I've been getting very confused over all this SMP stuff. I'm negotiating with my current employers because they say they owe me nothing once I leave, but this is 8 weeks before the EDD so according to some aspects of the legislation, they should pay SMP. The new employers are giving me 6 months unpaid mat leave (OML), so at least that side of it is clear. DH spoke to a lawyer who said no, no-one should pay anything. It's all a muddle, but I will be applying for govt allowance - the problem is, who I give my MAT B 1 to!

lovelylou, very sad to hear your news. I was in the same position nearly a year ago. Take care.

nh101, fingers crossed for you.

LoopyLouLisa · 20/03/2007 21:39

Hiya everyone,

can anyone help me? I am being a real witch to my dp at the mo and I really don't know why. my mood seems to swing from one extreme to the other and it's driving me insane as it feels like i have no control over it whatsoever. i wasn't anywhere near this bad last time and my poor dp is suffering even though he is trying everything possible to make me happy.

Lisa xx

Hopeitwontbebig · 21/03/2007 09:23

Oh Lisa I feel for you I really do. I nearly murdered my 10 year old this morning, completely flipped my lid

I remember my HB having a really sweet coversation with a close friend of our's who was suffering the wrath of his pregnant DW, my DH said it can be a nightmare at times but it is SO worth it in the end, it's all hormones. WHAT a sweetheart.

Remember these are very powerful hormones going through our systems and they do have very unpredictable effects. (Have you read the dirty dreams thread!!?)

I think if you had a chat with your DP and explained that 'this isn't you, it's the hormones and that it won't be like this forever and bear with you .... and sorry' I'm sure he'll completely understand and feel reassured.

They do cop it at times those poor men, mind you, this is all their fault isn't it!

Hope you'll feeling better Lisa and don't beat yourself up, you're completely normal!!!

This is the place to come for a good rant!

((((hugs)))))

Hopeitwontbebig · 21/03/2007 09:34

ps, what's an HB???!!!! Pregnant brain do'h!! Meant DH

canadianmum · 21/03/2007 11:17

It's bad news I'm afraid. Scan shows baby died at 10+4. I have posted elsewhere but I am fine, as well as can be ewxpected. Hope you guys have great pregnancies and I'll be thinking of you. xx
