Due to recent sad news and at the suggestion of others, I have started this new thread. Let's hear everyone's news.......

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
toadstool · 21/04/2007 22:18

Have added myself to the list, and tried to keep up with the posts... LO kicking away merrily and I'm only 17 weeks, but huge (all the abs muscles have now officially gone, clearly). Stressed-out: big dramas all day with DD (we're also relocating and she's sussed that one out too), so I got her to join in some pg yoga exercises; they made her laugh, anyway.
Not so much trouser hell for me as piles purgatory.

And once again Sophus spends all weekend in the garden. I now have the smartest looking rose beds in all of South Cambridgeshire. But it's a lovely weekend to have been outside - think it is displacement activity as i am not riding properly. Normally i would be competing every weekend at this time of year. Maternity leave for me equals chance to ride every day and in daylight throughout winter.
Scan tomorrow morning - won't be finding out the sex. Just want to be told that all is going according to plan and that there are no "anomalies"- always such a charming term i think.
Hope you've all had lovely weekends.

poppy34 · 22/04/2007 17:02

does it count as gardening if I watched DH doing it?

poppy34 · 22/04/2007 17:03

and good luck tomorrow with scan sophus.

BTW does anyone know if the foetal medecine centre will let you find out the sex (we'd like to )? I thought they did if you asked but a friend mentioned when she went for her scan for her dd about 6/7 years ago they weren't confirming sex and had signs around the place saying as much.

PurpleLostPrincess · 22/04/2007 20:06

Wow, took me ages to catch up!!!!

Poppy, we're having our scan on the same day - yay! Mine is at 9.40am - what time is yours? Just under 2 weeks to go... (sorry I don't know about the foetal medicine centre).

Hope everybody is well? I had a few very hormonal days and ended up rowing with DH last night and realised that I was being totally unreasonable and overreacting to everything. Have managed to get things in perspective and apologise to poor DH after lots of crying!

Managed to make myself feel better by going shopping for maternity clothes today. Our town is really bad - all the major shops that I KNOW do maternity clothes (e.g. M&S, Next, BHS), don't stock them in our branches!! And those that do, only stock up to an 18 - Dorothy Perkins does up to a 22 online but the shop only does up to an 18!! Ended up getting some tops in Evans which I'm really pleased with

Take care all xxxx

NewDKmum · 22/04/2007 20:09

Sophus - good luck with your scan tomorrow! I really miss riding too - used to do a lot of showjumping - what do you compete in?

seems a long time to wait

NewDKmum · 22/04/2007 20:36

And good luck to all others with scans coming up (just noticed that it's not just Sophus tomorrow )!

PurpleLostPrincess · 22/04/2007 21:36

Wow, just noticed how many are having scans tomorrow - hope all goes well and look forward to reading your posts tomorrow evening xxx

Holly29 · 23/04/2007 09:29

Poppy,

I had my last scan at the Fetal medicine Centre and I am having this next one in 2 weeks too, and they told me at 12 weeks that I was probably having a boy and I can confirm that there are no signs up saying they can't tell you. So definitely ask - they may not offer it, but ask anyway. I did and I was only 11 + 5!

Good luck. x

Hopeitwontbebig · 23/04/2007 09:38

Morning ladies. It's raining here!!! Can't remember the last time it rained.

Wow scan crazy... good luck Spohus, Fiofio, pennypops and Nettee!!

bendybus · 23/04/2007 10:54

Hello all
Just added myself to the list. Am officially wearing big bump trousers today, and a maternity top i bought on hols.

Knackered today from following daddyofbump around the marathon route with DB - had to carry him loads and really felt some painful twinges in the bump - so hoping all is ok in there...

spraklynewthing · 23/04/2007 11:00

Hi All, STILL in a foul mood (stop the madness) so only posting to wish everyone luck with scans today and tomorrow!

Still enjoying everyone's posts dispite extreme moodiness...

Have a lovely day everyone!

Hopeitwontbebig · 23/04/2007 11:30

Aw big hugs sprakly. What's up do you think?

spraklynewthing · 23/04/2007 11:43

Ta HopeItWont

I don't know really. Nothing specific, just really dog tired and flat. Having a lot of back pain, which kinda niggles away but I am seeing the consultant on Wednesday so I hope to get some advice then. I have been prescribed anti-inflammitories by GP but I am loathed to take them until it gets really bad. I think I am nervous about my scan on Wednesday not sure why - just a bit anxious.

I am sure I will bounce back soon and be Sprakly/Sparkly once again!

hannahsaunt · 23/04/2007 12:04

This moves too fast to keep up! Back on my anti-emetics after horrid week with blinding headaches and recurrent vomiting. Lovely to feel more well again today. Looking forward to my scan in a couple of weeks. Had ds2 with me at a check-up on Friday; he loved hearing the baby's heartbeat though did think that it was the sound of the baby crying!

Hopeitwontbebig · 23/04/2007 12:21

Sprakly, that's really crap for you having back pain. Pain can really get you down can't it. I think your nerves about the scan are totally normal, are you going to find out the sex? sending you a big SMILE x PS Always free to come and have a moan, you're perfectly entitled! It's nice to have like minded people to chat to!!!!!!!!!

hannahsaunt - glad to feel you're feeling better.

bendybus, sorry, meant to say well done to your DH for completing the marathon, bet he's ACHING today!!!! Has he got the funny 'post marathon walk', especially funny watching them walk upstairs... ooh I am wicked.

Hopeitwontbebig · 23/04/2007 12:22

hannahsaunt, I think you probably realised I meant to say hear you're feeling better....

PurpleLostPrincess · 23/04/2007 12:49

Sprakly, I totally empathise with you! I was like a bear with a sore head on Friday/Saturday and I could see myself being like it but I just couldn't stop myself. That was, until DH and I ended up having a big row and I ended up crying and begging for forgiveness. Although there wasn't anything inparticular that had made me feel like it, I could list about a hundred little things that just built up in my head and for some reason I was reacting completely irrationally!! The poor kids didn't know what was going on bless them, let alone DH!!

Hope you manage to find your way out of this little dip - you'll look back and laugh in a few weeks time (I'm hoping I will anyway!).

Gotta dash - I'm on lunch xx

Rin23 · 23/04/2007 14:38

Great to hear all news - been away for a bit so took me a while to catch up!
Congrats to all re scans, exciting stuff!
Know exactly what you girls are talking about re mood swings (Sprakly, PurpleLostPrincess) I've been feeling quite down and anxious for no particular reason. I think (as my mother used to say when I was a teenager) it's the hormones. Anyway, it's my birthday today so I'm gonna be cheerful!
Another thing - is anyone else getting pins and needles in their hands at night? I just read on the net that this is very common in pregnancy. It's very annoying though cos it keeps waking me up at night. Apparently there are some exercises you can do, so I'd better get waving my hands around - more reasons to feel self conscious?

Nicki10 · 23/04/2007 14:53

Hi Girls

Well I have had a manic and worrying two days. Yesterday I had terrible cramping pains and started leaking fluid. So I went to the hospital today and they did a blood test and a scan and all was perfect. They said that maybe I had too much fluid and my body just got rid of some as I have the right amount now and little one was fine. But from now on they are going to keep their eye on it.

It was amazing seeing how much our little one had grown since my 12 week scan and they revealed that they think it is a girl. I am over the moon as I have always wanted a little girl and I have already started calling my bump Poppy Molly which is our chosen name.

Congrats to your husband Bendybus. I was in Covent Garden yesterday afternoon and all the runners were hobbling round. A very strange sight!.

Hopeitwontbebig · 23/04/2007 16:05

Happy Birthday Rin23!!!!!!!

Glad you're ok Nicki10 x

Rin23 · 23/04/2007 17:32

Thank you!

sophus · 23/04/2007 18:16

hi all
Scan went well, we didn't want to find out sex. But no apparent problems so went out and bought gratuitously cute stuff to celebrate. Am exhausted now, as didn't sleep last night at all. Hope other scans went well. Got three days of business travel until end of week, so just want to crawl into bed and get a decent night's sleep.
But how cool is this - due to my "condition" my company are giving me a car and driver to get around the country over next few days. Really going to enjoy milking this one.
NewDKMum - I event and of late have mainly been bringing on youngsters - neither of which are conducive to being pregnant. So am confined to plodding about on my retired eventer who is as hobbly as i am waddly.
Hope everyone is having as good a start to the week.

MrsMar · 23/04/2007 18:20

Phew! That's a long read!!

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a momentous saturday (for me!). I finally put away all my non maternity clothes that I no longer fit in! My poor wardrobe is very empty now!

Happy Birthday Rin, I hope you had a good one!

Nicki, it's great to hear everything is ok, what a worry that must have been. And another girl!! fantastic, that's great news!

Sprakly - I'm sorry to hear you've been so down, I hope you find some improvement soon. Eat lots of chocolate and all those other mood enhancing type of foods, even if it doens't help, tastes damn good!!

Sparks - congratulations on having a little girl, we're having quite a few in September aren't we? I'm not having my scan for ages, but I'm convinced I'm having a boy. I'll probably get the shock of my life when they tell me it's a girl, I haven't thought of any girls names!

Emalushka - great idea to find stuff on freecycle, I think I may well pinch that idea from you (sorry freecycle it from you!) I too loathe the idea of spending a fortune on something the baby will use for such a short time. I'm fortunate enough to be inheriting lots of stuff from my sister, but there's bound to be some extras. I live in total yummy mummy land and there are some great second hand childrens clothes shops there too, they're probably full of baby Prada or something!!

Lou - that's such a sweet image of your LO curled up in a bundle, must be frustrating as you can't have a proper look though! I'd love to have more scans, you are lucky on that front.

Canadianmum - Glad you had a great holiday!

mMooMar - that's great news about all your tests, so nice to not need to face an amnio! But it sounds a bit of bad luck that you'll have to put up with the wisdom tooth until after the baby is born. I hope it doesn't give you too much trouble.

I hope everyone else is ok and happy. I'm still getting the odd tingle and vibration which I think is the baby, but nothing definite yet, no fists in the ribs (probably a good thing!!)

Take care everyone xxx
