Due to recent sad news and at the suggestion of others, I have started this new thread. Let's hear everyone's news.......

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Hopeitwontbebig · 19/04/2007 20:49

Fantastic news givememoremash, really pleased for you

MrsMar · 19/04/2007 21:23

Hey GMMM - that's great news! Put your feet up and relax for the next few days!! Great news about having a boy too, I can't wait to find out. I would love a little boy, esp if he looks as cute as my dh did as a little boy! I have a picture of him aged about 8 wearing his school uniform with scuffed knees and his cap at a jaunty angle, I have fantasies about having a little boy just like him! Of course having a girl would be no bad thing either, esp if she looked liker her mummy! hehehe

I've had to buy a size smaller at a few places too, not all though. I'm the same size as normal in Jojomamanbebe and Blooming Marvellous, but Next maternity clothes are way too big for me!

TinaLC · 20/04/2007 08:24

Hopeitwon'tbe - I also get IBS and it has been worse with pregnancy. I have found that live yoghurt or those actimel type drinks really help. i normally have 1 a day but up it to 2 if am feeling a bit rough. Also quite a lot of water also seems to help ( 2 litres - lots of toilet trips but I do have the preganancy excuse at work) If all else fails then hot water bottle it is, which is miserableI know.

cc pink - so sorry to hear your news. Can't say anything to really help but know we are all thinking of you as pregnancy is tough enough. GMMM - so pleased for you, I can only emphathise as it was one of my major fears being old at 35.

Had a nice parcel this morning with my first ever purchase fro Ebay - Earl maternity jeans for £12 and they fit! I am now a convert to Ebay and off to search for more maternity stuff.

Have lovely weekend everyone. My DH is running the London Marathon on Sunday and it is supposed to be 23C...he would prefer about 3C and snowing I think but it does make for much nicer spectating.

MrsFish · 20/04/2007 09:09

GMMM - congrats on the test results

I want to find out what we are having too, roll on 15th May. Still waiting for my test results, should be early next week hopefully.

Next clothes do seem to come up bigger, I am usually just a 14, ie (almost a 16) but I bought some size 14 jeans from there last week and they are really roomy, need to wear a belt with them still.

spraklynewthing · 20/04/2007 09:17

TinaLC - I have some Earl mternity jeans to and they are amazing. I bought mine from TK Max for £20. Not quite such a good bargain as yours but they were £125 full price so not going to complain! They fit so beautifully, stay up and flatter my increasingly lardy thighs and bum. Definitely my best buy yet.
Love Ebay also - have brought lots of glam tops for next to nothing recently, might you I have noticed the competition for all the lovely cool summer kaftans and tunics is definitely hotting up!

Good luck to DH on Sunday. I used to live in Greenwich and loved watching everyone run past - such a buzzy atmosphere. Never made me want to run though !

Hopeitwontbebig · 20/04/2007 09:29

Morning all, Friday again whoopee!!

I'm definetely going to have a look at Ebay for stuff.

TinaC - good luck to your DH for the marathon on Sunday!!! My poor DH got a place this year after trying for 6 years but sadly he can't run because of the motorbike accident in November, poor thing. He ran the Edinburgh Marathon in 2005 (the day before my 30th birthday I might add!!) he did it in 3 hours 44 minutes!!!!!! Nutcase! I went shopping on Princes Street and bought myself some nice shoes, what a supportive 'spectator' I was! I did see him finish though. It was strange walking past all these grown men crying their eyes out, it seems to have quite an emotional effect on people running a marathon, I suppose the body must go into shock losing all those fluids, plus it's quite a lot of mental effort. I WILL NEVER RUN A MARATHON!!!!!!!!!!!

hannahsaunt · 20/04/2007 09:49

It's a great way of losing the last of the baby fat, HIWBB

Hopeitwontbebig · 20/04/2007 09:57
GiveMeMoreMash · 20/04/2007 13:37

Thanks everyone for kind messages and sizing tips. Think I've calmed down a bit now though last night I did have a dream that I had my baby and when it came out it was already a toddler!! What does it all mean I wonder!

Good luck for your dh on Sun TinaLC.

Now I've got a few tips on sizes I'm off to Ebay to see if I can get a few bargains for my hols......

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Holly29 · 20/04/2007 14:25

Sparks, Lou and Gils, we are waiting for results of your scans! Fingers crossed for all 3 of you. x

MMooMar · 20/04/2007 14:57

Hi Ladies,
Hope everyone is feeling ok.
GMMM..great news...A little lad eh? FAB!
Glad the amnio and the results were fine.

Welcome to the thread Mrsfish.

Come on Sparks, Lou and Gils ,we want some news!

Thanks once again ladies for the good luck vibes for my triple test results. The sonographer has just phoned me back and yes it is good news....Low risk on the Neural tube defects so feel alot easier now going along for the AB scan on the 30th,also 1/660 for D/S. So feel quite good at the moment and wont be going down the amnio route again.

Off to do some more decorating now while the little devil is having his nap. Will check by later for some scan news off the others.

MMooMar · 20/04/2007 15:06

spraklynewthing,
Just need to say ,I know how you feel about the BIKE.
My DP used to have big Jap bikes and had a big smack up(another one)a few years ago then packed them in not long after.
Then he went onto moto x and green laning but when the laws got too strict on all that went big time into mountain biking hence a bike worth £4500!

His excuse...well I dont do the bikes anymore!

Today he has had a day from his work ( self employed so these DAYS OFF happen regular when the weather is nice!)and took himself off to Wales with the bike in tow.
Me.... like I say SHOULD be decorating .

ccpink · 20/04/2007 17:23

Thanks to all with their fabulous support messages. Just keeping everything crossed for a few weeks.
Holly - I'm having my scan at Kettering. Went private for nuchal so haven't been there yet. I'm still not sure if we're going to find out We hadn't discussed it and my dh asked at our first scan but she said it was too early. Everyone seems to think it's a boy so we'll have to see. I think my dh would secretly prefer a boy!
I'm knackered at the moment, but did have parents evening last night. Hope everyone has a fabulous week-end

canadianmum · 20/04/2007 18:59

Wow, this thread is going wild, I have been away for 5 days and it has taken ages to read the new posts .

We had a fab holiday in Cornwall, beautiful weather, wonderful seafood and lovely scenery. We could have stayed longer for sure.

Welcome jasper and kerri (hope that's right) and congrats to those who have had scans. So am I right in thinking that so far we have one boy and one girl due????

Not planning to find out the sex but am envious about those who can now purchase the correct colour, there doesn't seem to be much neutral stuff out there.

RE: the underwire debate, I have tried to give them up but just find non-underwire SO uncomfortable and unflattering. I have gone from 34B to 34 or 36C and they fit well and don't dig in at all. Glad to report that nipples are still normal .

LO is moving around a lot now, can normally feel a gentle kick (or punch!) whenever I sit down for a few minutes. Looking forward to 22 week scan though!!

OP posts:
Hopeitwontbebig · 20/04/2007 19:24

Welcome back canadianmum, glad you had a good holiday. I know what you mean, if you're away for even a couple of days, there is SO much catching up to do on this thread when you get back. I love it.

Sparks, Lou and Gil hope your scans went well, we're waiting to hear from you x x

MMooMar · 20/04/2007 21:13

Hi canadianmum,Glad you had a fab time.
So right about the postings always loads to catch up on.Envious on feeling the LO.Still waiting for mine to karate chop its way through the placenta so I can feel it!

Come on girls news on scans please.

MrsMar,Spraklynewthing and Hopeitwontbebig,
Re the tooth situation,Phoned today and told them that I was pregnant and they said they wont do it .
Said they wont do a general for it so will have to wait. They are going to send for me again about December/January.
Just hope the abcess dont come back.

Hopeitwontbebig · 20/04/2007 21:26

Mmoomar, sorry to hear that about your tooth... suppose they're being cautious, best thing I imagine. Let's hope you don't get an abscess in the meantime- ouch. Hey on the upside, around Dec time you might be desperate for a good night's sleep, what better way than a nice anaesthetic

lou031205 · 20/04/2007 22:04

Sorry guys

Went for scan, and first thing sonographer said is "oh dear, we aren't going to get much done to day" - baby was curled up as tight as could be inside my pelvis!

Doesn't help that although 19+5 by dates, I was only 19 by scan - they prefer at least 20 weeks.

So, all good for what was seen, which was more than they thought they'd see, but they were not happy to sign off the abdominal wall, spine, etc, as insufficient seen.

Got to go back for ANOTHER scan on 3rd May. That makes it my 6th scan!!! Sonographer joked that this is the most scanned baby in the world!

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Lou

poppy34 · 21/04/2007 09:07

mmoomar - also still waiting to feel anything (not that I'm entirely sure how I'd tell baby from what seems to be my permanently rumbly stomach).

Lou - glad your scan went ok and I don't think its such a bad thing to have another one so you get another chance to peek

Chattyhan · 21/04/2007 13:26

Hi all,

Sorry but i'm not doing a very good job of keeping up with the thread i only manage to log on about once a week and seem to spend an hour reading and don't get round to posting. Never mind.

Thought i'd add myself to the list. I will be 22 wks on my scan date and it seems such a long way off.

Nothing much to report. seem very big for 19 wks don't think i was this big first time until 7 months! I've found some good 2nd hand maternity clothes from The Maternity Exchange online and some bargains from the Blooming marvellous website.

Good luck to everyone xx

Hello and welcome to all the new people. It has taken me ages to catch up with all the news, haven't been on for a while.

Nothing much going on with me. I'm loving being pregnant - still only a tiny bump though, but I am small myself, so would look silly with a huge bump. My partner is over 6 ft though, so hopefully it won't be too big. Ouch!

I showed the children in my class (8 year olds) the scan picture and they were very excited. But yesterday, one of them said to me you can't be pregnant, it's not possible! When I asked why, they replied, because you haven't got a husband.

Erm, try and exlain that one!

Still certain it is a boy, although don't want to find out. We've been given lots and lots of baby things from friends/relatives so am really pleased. Have got travel system, moses basket, cot, clothes etc.... There all in really condition too. Also got a fantastic babybjorn sling from freecycle.com. We're not poor, (nor well off either), but I can't see the point in buying all new things when 2nd hand stuff is so good. Why fill landfill sites unecessarily?

Anyway, enough babbling. Congrats to TeeCee on the home birth. I'm definately having one too - if all goes well - and am quite looking forward to it in a strange way.
Take care x

sparks02 · 21/04/2007 18:41

Hi everyone!

Sorry to have been keeping you in suspense, been too busy to get online....

Had my scan on Thurs and all looked good and found out we are having a little girl! We are very excited! The sonographer said she could only be 60% certain but she did check twice and there were no boy parts to be seen so I think she is just being cautious. DH and I are delighted with the news and I feel so much happier now knowing that my little princess is healthy and growing!

xxx

Congratulations Sparks! You are probably right about them just being cautious about the sex. We were told 85% chance for 2 boys in my first pregnancy and we got........2 boys .

I am currently in trouser hell, normal ones are now put away and maternity ones keep falling down - aaaaargh!
