Due to recent sad news and at the suggestion of others, I have started this new thread. Let's hear everyone's news.......

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
GiveMeMoreMash · 10/04/2007 22:40

Hello everyone,

Mind if I join in. I've been reading for a couple of weeks now but have been waiting for my dating scan to find out whether I'm a Sept or Oct!

Anyway, I'm 37, due on the 27th Sep with 1st pg and am from West Yorkshire.

Would someone be kind enough to add me to the list, I'm a bit of a novice at this chatting thing.

Haven't read the thread for about a week so better catch up on the news. Hope everyone had a lovely Easter!

FilBrit · 11/04/2007 08:07

Welcome Poppy and GMMM!

Kinki I'm so impressed by your self restraint with your MiL and how dignified you've been rising above her comments. I'm lucky that my PiL are great , although my SiL is another matter and totally hideous !

EdieMcredie · 11/04/2007 08:23

MrsMar I saw that somebody said that period type cramps should be checked out on the thread you started under Pregnancy. My cramps are like period pains, only milder and ive had my scan, baby growing fine, heard HB (twice) so for me this is just norma. If the uterus is stretching, then surely it will feel like period pains? My MW certainly wasn't worried! Seeing as I have had them the whole way through so far im sure I would know by now if something wasn't right, so would you so I don't think we need to be concerned unless it is very bad. For me I can normally feel the baby moving (and mine moves quite violently) at the same time as the cramps which kind of makes sense.

hannahsaunt · 11/04/2007 09:34

Welcome new people - can't believe that there are even more now! V of those with Gap mat opening; I got some fab stuff in Pumpkin Patch last week but only because I happened to be at a conference in Nottingham; no PPs north of the border. They had a really big range (much bigger than on the website/catalogue).

HIWBB - we are investigating the cost of converting our basement (which covers the floor area of our house) into bedroom/bathroom/games room. No internal access yet and it's kitted out with original items and so needs gutted before any work can start. Fingers crossed that the costs won't be massive.

kinki · 11/04/2007 09:35

FilB, wasn't that hard really, because my 5yo ds was in the next room, so I had to stay relatively composed for his sake. Also was resisting the urge to go into premature labour due to the shock of it all! Mind you, I'm not as reserved and composed with my dh when rowing! Morning all!

canadianmum · 11/04/2007 09:49

Do you think we should contact the Royal College of Midwives and warn them about the enormous number of women due to give birth in September?

OP posts:
LoopyLouLisa · 11/04/2007 10:35

I think we def should prepare ourselves for sharing a bed during our hospital stay! LOL xx

MrsMar · 11/04/2007 11:50

Hello all. My aren't we a big group? Welcome to the newcomers!

Canadianmum, when I was deciding which hospital I was going to have the baby in, my gp warned me to not choose chelsea and westminster exactly for that reason, sept/oct is the most popular time to give birth, and c&w is a very popular choice. Apparently they often have to turn people away during sept and oct! Can you believe it? You're in labour and the hospital say sorry no beds, can you go elsewhere? I think that's the point I'd go in to full meltdown! hehe!

Edie - thanks for the reassurance about the cramps. I've had them pretty much throughout my pregnancy, and they always come and go. I'd be really worried if they were here all the time and were getting stronger, but they're just niggling. The went as soon as I got home from work last night. I think my baby's allergic to my office!! teehee!

I am currently experiencing the joy and satisfaction of finding some really comfy and really quite acceptible looking maternity jeans!!! What a revelation!! Having spent the past few weeks squeezing in to my old clothes and being quite uncomfortable it's such a joy being so comfortable at last. My sister, bless her, gave me a large bag of her old maternity clothes she and her friends had left over, but most of the trousers are too short, and the jeans... well lets just say they weren't quite me. I'm no spring chicken, but I'm not ready for denim slacks just yet! My dh fell about laughing when he saw me in a pair of dungarees that were in there. It's such a relief to know I can be comfortable and still relatively trendy too! Thank Gawd!

Have a lovely day everyone xx

Pennypops · 11/04/2007 12:45

Morning all and welcome to the newcomers. There was obviously a lotta lovin' going on in December Must have been the Christmas parties!!

HIWBB - thats fab news that your dh can be with you for your scan. I'm counting the days to mine so I can understand how important it is that he's there.

Well, I've just had a suprise sprung on me. We'e been invited to a smart wedding at the end of June where I will be about 30 weeks gone. What on EARTH am I going to wear?????

I am also having a lot of cramps, I worry all the time because of my early bleeding but I'm trying to relax a bit more about it.

I sympathetic pennypops. I also have weddings but mine are in September. Our best friends are getting married on my due date and hubby is best man and then I have my cousins on 15th Sept.

MIL is already trying to book herself for babysitting if I have had baby by the time the weddings come round

Pennypops · 11/04/2007 13:24

Going to a wedding on your due date Gils - that is seriously brave! You have my total admiration. By then I think I will be spending all my time propped up on the sofa!

Gils · 11/04/2007 13:32

I am determined the only way we are gonna miss these weddings is if I am actually in hospital. Not saying how long I'm going to stay for though. No idea what I'm going to wear though

TeeCee · 11/04/2007 13:36

Loving this growing list. Yeah a lot of lurve at Xmas going on!

Anyone else feeling seriously unpregnant?
Ok so i'm tired, nothing new there though. And my tummy is growing, nothing really new there either though tbh! Other than that, I'm seriously normal. I'm not sure I like feeling so normal.
Roll on that 20 week scan, which I'm actually not having till I'm 21 weeks, a whole 5 weeks away. Blimey, that's aggggges.

potoroo · 11/04/2007 13:36

I haven't posted for ages after all the other sad news of some of the original mums... but I'm 16 weeks now, over MS (thankfully), had the 12 week scan and I can feel the LO so I think its time to join in again.
I'm going to update the list too because I have an updated due date and I mis-spelt my name

Have added me again. Big breakthrough today - forgot to take my 2 buccastem last night (anti-sickness tablets) and I WASN'T sick this morning - hoorah . Had missed a morning dose last week and was v sick by tea time so definite progress there (17 weeks today so fingers crossed the MS is over soon). Quite fancy an apple as well which would be the first fruit with skin on for 10 weeks (another breakthrough as fruit with skin is too hard to digest and anything like that increases my vomiting.).

Hi all. I'm having a worry day today. I should be doing a uni assignment so (of course) I'm procrastinating and "googling" info on factor V leiden (my friendly clotting disorder, which I'm taking aspirin for). Of course I'm coming across all sorts of info that is enough to make you drop dead of fright. I know I SHOULD NOT do this as it always freaks me out. My worrying started a few days ago when my ms and sore boobs suddenly went away - but I know this is fairly normal at 17 weeks. Still - doesn't stop me worrying. I thought I'd be much calmer second time around...can't believe I'm actually worse

Rant over.....(but still worrying).

Hopeitwontbebig · 11/04/2007 15:14

Aw Aus, I know what you mean.... why is it that although we know we can 'do it' because we've done it before, we still worry. I too am worrying more this pregnancy, and it's my 3rd!!

Also isn't the internet a wonderful place to find lots of information to scare the bejeezus out of you!

auschick · 11/04/2007 16:16

The fact that UCH keep "losing" my referral so I haven't had any antenatal appointments here is now making me a bit twitchy. I think this baby will be born before I get to see anyone!

auschick · 11/04/2007 16:17

Chocolate seems to be helping though!!!

canadianmum · 11/04/2007 18:05

I think I am now paying for my easy first trimester with hardly any nausea. I now have rampant early hayfever which is making my eyes itch and water, makes me sneeze like a maniac and keeps me up at night wheezing. To add to this, today I have some kind of tummy bug which is sending me running for the loo every few hours - did someone say the second trimester is the easiest ??

Mrsmar - I was told the same about Chelsea and Westminster AND St. Thomas's. Unfortunately when they are full they seem to send all their labouring mums to St. Georges . It is going to be cosy.....

Auschick - golden rule is NEVER look up illnesses on the internet, the common cold can be fatal on some websites..... I remember looking for information about ds2's birthmark and I am still traumatised to this day - and his birthmark is pretty much non-existent now.

Hi there all the newbies!!

Pennypops and Gils - I've got a whole slew of weddings this summer (well, 3 anyway). One is very smart at the beginning of June, one is my cousins 6 weeks before my due date, and one is my dh's friends (he's best man) 6 weeks after my due date. I think I'm going to get something for all three, none of the same people are going so I can get away with it. As that's the case I'm going to splash out on something a bit more expensive than I would have normally spent on a maternity dress. There's a lovely silk one on Blooming Marvellous, which I think I can get away with 6 weeks after giving birth too. Good luck shopping for your outfits, perhaps a fabulous hat (I might hire one) will distract from giantness of my belly (and everything else!)

Canadianmum - love the image of us all cosying up at St Georges!! There'll be 10 of us to a room! eek!
