Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
HammerHeadShark · 25/03/2007 09:31

Was just thinking the same thing Edie - must have been some wierd headache vibes in the air yesterday. I got a killer migrane yesterday lunchtime out of nowhere , luckily my dad was in London for the day and rescued me by coming over to mind the twins for the afternoon while I lay in a darkened room feeling wretched. A bit better today but my head still feels heavy and boggy - am having fantasies about migralieve

Hope those of you with headaches are either feeling better or at least taking it easy - hope we all feel better soon.

EdieMcredie · 25/03/2007 11:32

Are you going into work today Floss? Is it you who is the nurse? Im sure someone on here is aswell as me!

FlossALump · 25/03/2007 12:28

I think there are a few of us Edie! I am yes. And I am going in today. I've had a good nights sleep plus some yesterday afternoon and feel much better. Not totally convinced i don't have a bit of a bug, but do feel soo much better! How is everyone else feeling today?

FilBrit · 25/03/2007 17:00

Am I too late to join this thread? I'm new to mumsnet and am expecting a baby on 8th September. I already have dd who is 3 and we currently live with DH in Sussex, although we're moving to the Philippines in July.

That is strange isn't it FioFio. Maybe there was something in the air yesterday/..??? I'm feeling much better today thank goodness. My DH went out and got me that 4Head stuff yesterday, works really well. Had to keep applying it though, fortunately it didn't start to burn my skin!!

The mad Boxer has gone... will miss him though, he was very cute. Apart from waking us up VERY early in the mornings. Oh well, getting some practice in I suppose for those sleepless nights and early mornings!!

Floss, hope you enjoyed your burger yesterday! Sometimes you can't beat a good burger. Full of iron etc etc LOL

Well I do hope the rest of the headache club are feeling better. AND NO MORE HEADACHES....NO FUN!

Nicki10 · 25/03/2007 21:23

Hi Everyone hope you have had a good weekend. Poor you Fio Fio.

I am looking for as bit of advice. I woke up this morning with a searing pain in my head. Not a headache but a large oval shape pain on the right hand side just at the top of my forehead. It is painful to touch or if I move to quickly but I do not have a headache. I also have a really sore ear almost like an ear infection and I have been sneezing lots. I was sick last night and this morning but to be honest my morning sickness hasn't stop yet so I was worried about this until one of my friends said this was symptoms of meningitis and I should be seen stragiht away!!! I thought that maybe it was just an ear infection. What do you think does it sound like meningitis?

Sorry I feel like a real drama queen

Hopeitwontbebig · 25/03/2007 22:50

Hi Nicki. Maybe you burst a bloodvessel or something? If you're at all worried ring NHS Direct, they should be able to offer you some advice. Hope you're ok. x

EdieMcredie · 26/03/2007 10:26

Nicki10, I would see your GP but also check for a rash. You may also experience a stiff neck and a dislike of bright lights if it is meningitis but could some other virus. Good luck!!

I had a horrible dream sat night about the baby not being ok at the 20 weeks scan and now im really nervous about it. I used to worry about it being viable but now it's moving, im worried it has some kind of abnormailty and I can't seem to relax about it now. Is this normal?

kinki · 26/03/2007 10:26

Morning everyone! Hope you're all feeling a bit better today. Weird how we all seemed to get headaches at the same time. Maybe we're more susceptible to pressure changes or something. There's a bit of spring sunshine in the air today where I am. Hope you've got some too.

kinki · 26/03/2007 10:33

Hi Edie, I've been worrying about my baby too. I know I'm being a bit irrational, and I'm trying very hard to tell myself its normal to be anxious. I'm puting it down to hormones. I've no idea if that's right or not, but its the only way I can rationalise it. My worry is that I can no longer feel him move and my sickness has gone. I should be happy not to feel sick really, and I know full well it is too early to feel the baby at all yet. See, irrational. But I think we're programmed to worry as a protection mechanism iyswim. Sorry I'm rambling! Try not to worry too much - I know, easier said than done.

LoopyLouLisa · 26/03/2007 10:37

Hiya all!

just a thought for the headache club, maybe the changes to our diet have an effect e.g. the lack of caffeine, etc? I get them when I drink milk, although this isn't a problem when I'm not pg. At the moment I have to have coffee mate in my tea ...

xx

EdieMcredie · 26/03/2007 10:44

Kinki

I know, it's horrible. I think for me it was the dream that made me worry, prior to that I had managed to relax for a while and it was great! My sickness has almost completely gone too but im not worried about that because I can feel the baby move, or at least I think I can might be imagining it. (I think its not usual to feel it til around 20 weeks).

When you start feeling it you will also relax a bit but I guess there is always something to worry about isn't there? Wait until they are born, we will be even worse!

canadianmum · 26/03/2007 11:45

Nicki - how are you? Has the pain gone? Could it be sinus pain?

Edie - According to my many books, it is normal to feel movement around 18-22 weeks for first timers and a couple weeks earlier for second, thirdtimers, etc... However, I am sure it is very possible to feel movement earlier for some women depending on their shape etc... Soon you will know for sure, when you get that first real kick!

OP posts:
Hopeitwontbebig · 26/03/2007 11:56

Morning all. How is everyone this morning?

Edie- dreams can be horrible sometimes can't they, and they can seem so real and upsetting sometimes. Re movement, with DS1 I felt him move at 16 weeks, can't remember with DS2, my dear dear Nan died when I was 13 weeks, and the following weeks were a bit of a blur, we were very close. With this one, I'm sure I've been feeling movement on and off since about 12 weeks!!!!

Nikki and Laksa - how are you?

I think I'm having a hormonal day today. Haven't had one for ages. With DS1 and DS2 my hormonal bouts resulted in teariness. With this one I seem to go completely flat and quite depressed. I was like that up until about 10 weeks. Not really like me at all. Nothing in particular is getting me down... just feel FLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT I've just had beans on toast, as I thought maybe it was down to a sugar crash??

On the upside.. my headache's completely gone!

EdieMcredie · 26/03/2007 12:27

Fio just been reading your thread over on Chat and am very intrigued!! Well done on the job stuff!!

Holly29 · 26/03/2007 13:51

Totally with the headache gang! It was my birthday this weekend (I'm not going to change the list and am going to pretend to be 33 for a bit longer!) and I managed to have to lie in bed for most of the afternoon with a horrible headache. I actually thanked my lucky stars that I am a first timer and didn't have anyone but myself to look after! Full credit to all you Mums for going through it all when you have kids too. Was really wishing I could have panadol ultra.

Hope everyone is well this week! lots of love.

Nicki10 · 26/03/2007 21:23

Hi All

Thanks my head seems to have sorted itself out. It woke me up in the night and then I couldn't put the right side of my head onto the pillow so then I turned over and when I woke up again it had completely gone along with the ear ache which is great.

I know what you mean about dreams being so frightening. I keep having this ongoing dream where I go to a bar and get absolutely pissed! because I have forgotton that I'm pregnant and then I start to cry because I am scared about the baby. Twice I have woken myself up with real tears!! It's funny because I've never been a big drinker.

I'm with you Edie on being anxious as well. Every evening I have a hard bump but after a nights sleep it goes flat and soft again, then I panic as to where the babys gone. This morning I even researched on the internet where the baby should be lying on my body to see if I could feel it I'm jus ridiculous and now it's hard again! .

I think it's all normal as there seems to be so many of us panicking abou things. I'm putting it down to hormones making me irrational.

FlossALump · 26/03/2007 22:20

HIWBB - My burger wasn't a let down! Only slight gripes were DP forgot the mayo and that I don't like onions in burgers. I wouldn't normally hold it against him but its kind of a right atm, isn't it?

I'm huge. I'm sure I am. A male patient noticed today at work 'Oh, are you in the club?!' and I'm 16 weeks on Wed. Am putting weight on all over. Off to try and find a wedding outfit later this week hopefully!

Edie, I have had a very similar dream to you. DP and I went in all guns blazing saying we wanted to find out the sex to the sonographer, she started the scan and said simply 'baby's not well'. I can still hear it!! It has affected me too quite alot, kind of reminded me not to take it all for granted IYSWIM.

I'm glad we all seem to be headache free now!

Hopeitwontbebig · 27/03/2007 09:39

Floss- glad your burger was good, yes you're quite right about it needing to be perfect. We need to feed these babies exactly what we, I mean they want! Seriously I know what you mean about really looking forward to eating something and it turning up not quite as you were expecting!!! I'm quite precious about food [DH would be rolling his eyes at this!]

Nicki - I'm glad you're feeling better. I had exactly the same dream recently. I 'Forgot' (as if!) that I was pregnant and got completely hammered then realised what I'd done and felt terrible! I too seem to have a bigger bump my the end of the day than in the morning.

Holly- Happy Birthday for the weekend!!! Hope you had a good one!

Has anyone heard anything from Laksa on MN? I hope she is ok.

I thought I'd got over the headache bout, but it came back again last night. Had to go to bed early again, couldn't stand lights being on. Felt better once I was in bed . My DS2 has got a bad cold, maybe I'm coming down with it. I tend to get bad sinus headaches as soon as I get any sign of a cold. Don't fancy the idea of having my sinus' flushed!!

I'm big also, got quite a prominent bump, no mistaking the fact I'm pregnant. My DH sent me out for a bottle of wine for him yesterday, and have to say I felt quite self conscious queuing up to pay for it. Felt like saying 'It's not for me, it's for my husband!!!!!' Mind you, I reeeeeeeeeeeeeally wanted to have a few glasses of wine on Sunday, really really wanted to! I'm a bit of an all or nothing girl when it comes to wine IYSWIM, one glass wouldn't be enough, so I have nothing!!

spraklynewthing · 27/03/2007 10:30

HIWBB and Flossalump - Laughing hard at this! I am SO precious about my food at the moment. Have never been a fussy eater now I have to peer at every meal suspiciously in case it will turn on me!

My DH kindly went out to buy ingredients to make me a lovely home cooked meal at the weekend. When he came back with pasta my heart sank. I NEED STEAK and POTATO GRATIN!! I am never like this EVER and I was quite afterward. My wonderful DH went back to the shops to buy me a lovely steak and yummy potato! heaven!

New food obsessions: tinned pink grapefruit and mushy peas (not, i repeat, not at the same time....)

best wishes to all!

laksa · 27/03/2007 10:40

Morning ladies,

sorry didn't mean to worry you HWBB, I have a bit busy with weekend birthday dinners etc. My mums birthday is a day before mine and she was 60 this year...so they were big ones for both of us. Feel a bit sorry that she has to share her birthday with me all the time, ah well its her own fault for conceiving me to be born at that time

Glad everyone seems to be over their headaches. I always seem to get a headache (when not pregnant) just before it rains... I can be quite an accurate barometer.

Hammerheadshark, glad your scan went well. Your little girl sounds so sweet.

Mrsmar, your job sounds glamorous except for the shift work aspect.

emalushka, that is a coincidence. I just wish I knew why I bled a little, doesn't seem to be a reason. I hate not knowing, but at least its stopped now. This baby carrying business is not as simple as it looks

Welcome to the thread Filbrit, Philippines are beautiful, are you or your partner from that area at all?

Hope you had a good birthday Holly...I am not changing my age on the thread either

glad your burger lived up to expectations floss, I find that if I have a craving I need it satiated NOW, and that means dh hopping to it Its in their job description isn't it?

I am 14 weeks tomorrow but only have a chubby belly to show for pregnancy so far (although it does pop out when I eat too much by the end of the day). All the ladies that are showing properly now, when did it start? Are you first timers?

Oh, quick question...anyone who is thinking of having/or have previously had a home water birth, when are you thinking of hiring a pool. Has anyone got any recommendations?

xx

Hopeitwontbebig · 27/03/2007 11:14

Laksa - I'm glad you're ok and the spotting has stopped . And happy birthday to you for the weekend. Seems busy for birthdays at the moment!

Sprakly - Oooh steak and potato gratin sounds fantastic!!! I'm hungry again now! My food obsessions at the moment are peach pastries and beans on toast mmmmmmmmmmm, again, like you, not at the same time! He He Oh yes and burgers
