WOW @Cineraria that spreadsheet is seriously impressive and very useful too!! I have added it to my bookmarks page, thanks for sharing.

Just as a straw poll: who is hoping to breastfeed after baby is born? I am and I've had so many dreams about breastfeeding as well Confused

mrsbumblebees · 25/06/2017 12:15

I'm hoping to gimble, but keeping an open mind about how things will work out in reality, will see how it goes Smile

Cineraria · 25/06/2017 13:07

Glad some of you like the spreadsheet. If you have a Google drive account, you should be able to save a copy and edit it.

I expect to breastfeed the new baby and possibly also DS still. I planned to stop around the time he is two and of course the new one should turn up that week, so I think that might be a bad time. If he stops of his own accord before then, that should be easy enough but he's quite an enthusiast, so I'm not banking on it!

ThatGirl82 · 25/06/2017 13:40

I'm also hoping to breastfeed, but don't want to put too much pressure on myself and feel guilty if it doesn't work out.

I may keep some formula in for emergencies.

doomkittycleo · 25/06/2017 14:43

@Gimble I'm really determined to breastfeed. I know there's a chance it won't work out, but will give it my all. Gonna see if I can attend a workshop towards the end of my pregnancy. Been watching loads of YouTube videos on getting a good latch as well.

boxesoffrogs · 25/06/2017 16:13

Oh bloody hell, I bought a pram!!! Hope I've made the right decision... got the icandy strawberry 2 with a maxi cosi pebble car seat with a 10% discount...
At least there is a 14 day returns policy, so if I realise I have made a heinous mistake I can take it back...

mrsbumblebees · 25/06/2017 17:20

Well done boxes - that's very exciting! I really like the look of icandy but haven't plucked up the courage to go in and have a proper test drive of them yet, need to take the husband (and his credit card Wink), and still not got my head around the world of carseats!!

boxesoffrogs · 25/06/2017 17:31

This is what I got. Yes to taking husband with credit card!!! As I said, dp had wisely decided to get absolutely ko'd last night, so he escaped having to provide the plastic. He is however, buying absolutely everything else from now on!!!

Oh and the guy in the shop randomly offered the 10% discount, which sounds good, but actually only ended up saving about £80. But I guess every little helps...
Anyway, it's done now, have to pick it up next weekend, hopefully his majesty will have recovered from his hangover by then.

If it's helpful for anyone is trying to spend less - here are the fruits of my extensive research -- take a look at the joie chrome dlx or joie litetrax 4 and joie gemm car seat combos. About £200-300 all inc. Light, off road, easy fold, pack down small. Modelled on pricier brands but not less quality. I researched til my eyes bled and I had dreams about air filled vs rubber filled tyres!

ButterflyGem · 25/06/2017 22:08

@Cineraria that spreadsheet is brilliant thanks for sharing I'm definitely going to use it especially for hospital/changing bags I have no idea what to do for those xx

wapsmahoney · 25/06/2017 22:19

We have finally given in and bought our pram, car seat and base today after weeks of procrastination! We went for the mamas and papas Ocarro 6 piece bundle ... feels like a massive weight off my shoulders now!
Although that being said ... I literally haven't bought anything else ... other than Aldi nappies and about 10 books!!!!

Cineraria · 25/06/2017 23:03

You're welcome, ButterflyGem!

Congratulations to all who have their prams and car seats now. I remember that it made it feel very real all of a sudden when we had a pram in our hallway last time! I remember MiL had given us a blue bunny toy for the baby, which was about newborn sized, when she heard we were having a boy and so I took pictures of him in the car seat, cot, pram, wrap carrier and even our cloth nappies when they arrived!

Boxes, my friend had a Strawberry with a Pebble and she was really happy with it. We had the Pebble with an Apple, which was also nice.

boxesoffrogs · 26/06/2017 06:50

Dammit polly! Wish I had seen the fruits of your research earlier!

cineraria that's comforting. I literally just grabbed it, wheeled it about a bit, my friend collapsed it, and the guy in the shop showed me all the features and I thought sod jt, I'll take it. Ah well, like you say waps, it's a weight off the mind now.

Been up all night with some sort of sickness bug, my fault, friends I went out with yesterday have all had it, along with their baby. Can't keep anything down, hideous.

mummabubs · 26/06/2017 07:05

Not to throw a whasit into the doo-dah (anyone else have word finding difficulties?! 😂) but thought I'd share my experience of yesterday:

Popped into Mamas and Papas 'just to check out the sale' as you do and realised while I was there that I had my car with me and they've asked me to take it to them before we collect our pre-ordered travel system bundle in October to check the car seat. Long story short it turns out if you have a Nissan Qashqai- which I bought because of its family-friendly reputation- the seat belts in the back are not physically long enough to strap a car seat in and the maxicosi isofix base that comes with their standard bundles doesn't fit properly either as baby ends up being massively titled forward due to the slope of the seats. After 40 minutes of stress (and begrudgingly having to pay a little bit extra) we've had to change our package to include the Joie GEMM car seat and base which fits correctly, but might be worth people testing as otherwise we'd have been in trouble come collection time just before our bubbabean is due! Cynical me wanted to think that they were just trying to up-sell but in all honesty I could see exactly what they meant and googling has confirmed that others with Qashqais have had the same problem. Lady in Mamas and papas said they sometimes have this problem with Mercedes and BMWs too xx

doomkittycleo · 26/06/2017 08:05

@mummabubs, I have a BMW and got the joie 360 spin as it does till baby is 4. Never even considered a travel system cus baby shouldn't be in seat for more than 2 hours and I think I would easily get carried away shopping for that long.

Cath1212 · 26/06/2017 10:30

@Cineraria - amazing spreadsheet - thank you for sharing! There seems to be so much you need to take into the hospital - will need a suitcase at this rate.

I am very much hoping I can breastfeed but will try not to get too down if it just doesn't work out.

Please tell me morning sickness cant come back?! I have been feeling really nauseous over the last few days....

GimbleInTheWabe · 26/06/2017 15:09

@mummabubs I have lost all of my vocabulary! "What do I mean.." seems to be all I say these days Confused

I was out yesterday at my old schools fete so was on my feet a lot and not taking enough breaks, on top of my 2 hour journey home to London it's safe to say when I finally got home I was completely exhausted. Went to bed at 10pm and woke up at 9:30 Blush got to remember to give myself a break even if I'm having a jolly!

mummabubs · 26/06/2017 17:59

@GimbleInTheWabe glad it's not just me! I assess memory problems as part of my job so I'm really noticing just how much I've declined cognitively in recent weeks myself! 🙈

@doomkittycleo we're definitely not planning to leave bubba in car seat too long- 90 minutes max is what I've been told, for us buying as a "travel system bundle" was cheaper than buying car seat, base and pushchair separately- plus ours comes with a carry cot so we can place bubbabean into there to avoid being in the car seat too long 😊 It's all so complicated isn't it!!

doomkittycleo · 26/06/2017 18:39

@mummabubs it probably would work out cheaper, but I didn't want a carry cot as it'd never fit in my car alongside the baby seat and the pram itself. I also didn't want to have to buy a bigger car seat in 12 months time.

TippetyTapWriter · 26/06/2017 19:30

I'm having trouble with words too. Not great as I was hoping to finish first draft of a book before baby comes but I can hardly think straight. Brain fog!! Had it last time and was so glad to go on maternity leave.

24+1 today and my bump seems to have had a growth spurt over the weekend. Getting pain across the top of my belly button where the muscle must be stretching. Had it before but not until third trimester! I hope I don't end up huge! Thought I was doing ok weight-gain wise - about 6.5kg so far though nearly 2 of that is in last 2 weeks alone!!

gracey1 · 28/06/2017 08:07

Hi just wondering how much weight people are putting (if you don't mind me asking!!) I'm 24+3 and have put on two stone 😢. I don't know if this is normal?

Also for those mummy's who have done this before how easy is it to lose afterbirth and how long does it take?

I ask these questions having woken up and had a penguin with my morning cup of tea so not really helping myself!

mummabubs · 28/06/2017 11:08

Funnily enough I weighed myself for the first time in weeks this morning @gracey1. I'm 25+4 and have put on 1.5 stone so far, but I'm also still being sick 4-5 days a week so that might possibly explain why I haven't put more on? My appetite is definitely starting to increase so I'm pretty sure I've got plenty more to gain before bubbabean arrives! My mum said she put on 3 stone with me and someone I work with gained 7 stone during their first pregnancy!!! 😱

TippetyTapWriter · 28/06/2017 11:48

I put on 3 stone with my first which seems quite normal. About a stone (6.5kg) at 24 weeks with this one. I don't think there's any official guidance on weight gain in pregnancy because everyone and every pregnancy is so different. Weight gain isn't just fat: there's increase in blood volume, placenta, amniotic fluid and of course weight of the baby. I just weigh myself because I'm a bit of a data nerd and love numbers!

Just had my vbac appointment. Was more or less what I expected- some useful information but a lot of being asked how I want to give birth when so much is dependent on things I can't possibly know like size of baby and if I go overdue. But they have booked me onto a workshop here where they actually show me the labour room and monitoring equipment and how it'll all be used so that should be really helpful.

gracey1 · 28/06/2017 17:11

7 stone @mummabubs! Wowser! Lol. Maybe I was just Having a wobble.... I've been fearing a big baby but I'm told by colleagues at work weight gain and big bump doesn't necessarily mean huge baby! (Another cup of coffee and custard cream in hand)! 😱

gracey1 · 28/06/2017 17:13

@tippety sounds like your in a good area for
Support, I tried to get booked on courses at 14 weeks to be told they were all booked up! I have no idea what to do, but I'm
Seeing midwife tomorrow and open to anything other than epidural (I'm fully prepared to change my mind when the time comes though!! So if you have any tips please do share!!!!
