@greentreeseverywhere I understand the anxiety, fingers crossed it does shuffle up a bit. If you can I'd be inclined to trust my midwife more than a nursing colleague as they are specialist trained (more so than generic nursing) and see it on a daily basis. I work in a team full of nurses and two weeks ago they said when I walked in the office (feeling delightfully nauseous) that I was clearly anaemic to look at and I needed to get this checked out asap as it could be harming my baby if I didn't do anything about it. Cue a speedy and anxious visit to GP on my part and after bloods it turns out my iron levels are actually really good! 🙈

mummabubs · 20/05/2017 11:41

*friend, not colleague!

boxesoffrogs · 20/05/2017 12:57

Hope you are all having a good weekend. I am off shopping this afternoon, finally admitting defeat and that I need some sort of maternity jeans/work trousers...

Anyone got any good recommendations that won't break the bank? Shopping centre has all the usual suspects - H&M, new look, Zara, etc...

Corrinax · 20/05/2017 14:52

@boxes

I got some leggings from H&M they had quite a good range in there but i got most my other bits for work etc from boohoo cheap!!!

mummabubs · 20/05/2017 15:09

I second H&M for maternity leggings (only £8.99 and honest to God the most comfy leggings I've ever owned) and jeans (the better quality ones I've got are more expensive at £34.99 but unlike all the other mat jeans I've tried they actually fit like skinny jeans!) I'm currently browsing ASOS for some additional mat wear as I'm now no longer fitting in 90% of my pre-pregnancy wardrobe :/

Cineraria · 20/05/2017 15:53

I'm at Kings too, Gimble, although only for scans; we go to the local hospital or GP for antenatal and the PRUH in Orpington for delivery. It seems like ages to wait when most people get theirs two weeks earlier. I'm booked to have my anomaly scan on Thursday next week. I wonder if the later scan is to do with their research. I'm pleased we get to go there, even though it's quite a journey. The new centre is fantastic compared to the old one in the hospital although even there the equipment was great and getting the nuchal blood results the same day was helpful.

Are you there for all appointments and delivery too?

TippetyTapWriter · 20/05/2017 18:07

I've found red herring over bump skinny jeans to be quite comfy and well fitting. They stay up and aren't too expensive. Lived in H&M maternity leggings last time but worried over the bump stuff will be too hot in summer (pregnant in winter last time). Just got some under the bump leggings from top shop which were pricey at £20 but stay up well and seem thick enough just to wear under a long top, so hopefully a little cooler for summer?! Wish I didn't hate dresses so much!

88claire · 20/05/2017 19:00

Just a heads up, h&m are offering 25% off an item and free delivery if you sign up to their newsletter! I got leggings for £6.74 ish and some baby bits with next day delivery included. On a Sunday! Impressive!

That's my first item of maternity clothing, I was hoping to get away with just leggings and dresses I already own. Will see how that goes...

mummabubs · 20/05/2017 19:45

Thanks 88Claire, I was literally just on the H&M website adding items to my saved favourites so I'll definitely sign up to the newsletter now! X

JanuaryJuniper · 20/05/2017 22:42

I had a gender scan yesterday and found out we are having a little boy to complete our family... pretty sure we are calling him Jude Smile

Have any of you started to consider names yet?

BumblingBee89 · 21/05/2017 09:23

Congratualtions JanuaryJuniper ! A little boy!! 😊😊 Jude is an absolutely gorgeous name!

I really love the name Henry for my little boy! (I love being able to say 'my little boy' 😊😊) DH likes it as well, and our surname begins with a 'H' so I think it sounds fab! 😊

boxesoffrogs · 21/05/2017 10:20

Oooh ta for the heads up! My shopping trip was rubbish, they seemed to have squirrelled away all the maternity stuff, ended up getting a pair or black skinny jeans from mothercare in desperation. Luckily they were in the sale, and they are actually quite comfy (oh god, I am turning into someone who chooses clothes for comfort, not that I was particularly stylish in the first place!)

Jude and Henry are both super names! Great choices... I've got a feeling this is a boy as well so need to get thinking... 2 weeks to go until finding out! Problem is, I am a teacher, so picking names is going to be a minefield...

GimbleInTheWabe · 21/05/2017 10:28

Cineraria it's brilliant isn't it?! It felt like a private hospital! Luckily I live close by so, if I stay low risk, hopefully I'll be in the birthing centre there for my delivery too. Yeah the midwife said that usually there's no other usual scan after the 22 week one so maybe t is to do with the research.

What have people been like with alcohol? I've not had anything at all as I didn't drink a lot before hand but I have fancied a g&t a few times! There's a pg girl at my DPs work and he said she's been drinking lots and smoking weed too Shock it's hard not to judge but it's more the weed that shocks me. I looked it up and it's just so risky to do. Apparently it stops her sickness but seems a bit selfish to me considering the possible long term affects.

GimbleInTheWabe · 21/05/2017 10:30

Ahh yay at your little boy JanuaryJuniper! It feels like there's lots more boys than girls atm. Jude's a lovely name btw, I know a charming Jude so it has good vibes for me! We're waiting until/if we find out the gender first before we talk names, though I have a long list already!

88claire · 21/05/2017 10:50

I posted on Facebook but to let everyone know here I'll try to even things out a bit, we found out we are having a girl! Her name is already decided (Molly) with Rose as a middle name. Which are mine and my partners grandmothers names :)

boxesoffrogs · 21/05/2017 11:08

Ooooh, Molly Rose!!! Absolutely beautiful... congratulations 88! Is it too late to join the Facebook group?

gimble that's pretty bad about that girl... I've been far more ok with no drinking than I expected (makes me sound like I was a right lush!) I had half a glass of champagne when we got engaged, and have had the odd bottle of beer diluted with lemonade here and there, as in maybe once a fortnight, not even a whole bottle of beer! Gone right off the taste of wine. I found smoking ashamed far far harder to give up, and have very nearly crumbled on occasion. Had probably smoked about five since February (I know I know...) Sad

88claire · 21/05/2017 13:02

Thanks Boxes!

Definitely not too late to join the Facebook group but I can't remember who is admin as they need to add you.... Can anyone help me out?

JanuaryJuniper · 21/05/2017 15:10

Aww Henry is lovely and with and H surname will be great...I love a bit of alliteration!!! And Molly Rose is super sweet.

My dh and ds are referring to him as Jude already but I still feel weird referring to him as his name so still call him the baby or it!! Hmm I'm sure I will get used to it! And my dd is in blissful ignorance at 2 to the whole thing, I don't think she will be impressed when he comes along Grin

Corrinax · 21/05/2017 15:14

Eeeek had a private scan today at 19+4 and its a boyyyyyy 💙💙

So happy

We r calling him Walter 😊 both my grandads r called walter and my dads middle name and also the daddys called walter haha

JanuaryJuniper · 21/05/2017 19:19

Another boy.....wow there is something in the water here 🤗🤗 and Walter is lovely, very cute on a little boy!

It's starting to get very exciting now. I even started to order some clothes now that I know it's a boy, I'm avoiding blue in all its shades though.

boxesoffrogs · 21/05/2017 19:26

Congrats corrinax!! So jealous of everyone finding out, two more long weeks here... although could do private I guess, anyone know how much it costs in London??

I want to join the Facebook group stamps foot

88claire · 21/05/2017 19:56

Gimble

I have to admit ive had the odd small beer or half glass of wine every now and then (not on a regular basis at all). My friend who is a midwife said there's nothing wrong with two small glasses of wine a week but the NHS recommends nothing as its difficult for some people to stop. I'd say I have alcohol once a week (and that's when my partner is insensitive and opens a nice bottle of wine!)

Trytowin · 21/05/2017 21:04

Hey I'm not an admin but if you pm me your email address I can send you an invite to the group
