Loving the washing pictures!!
red sorry you have been signed off again but at least you get time to relax

Had my 36w mw appointment today. I have failed the fundal height measurement again and referred back for growth scan!!! That's number 4- every time I have had it done! Just waiting for them to ring back with appointment. It's getting so stressful because I get there for the scan and they are always like 'you don't need to be here' and are quite dismissive. DH and DM get really cross and think I should refuse the scan but then I will worry that this might be the time I do need to be there. I think it is better to be over cautious than not. I will be going alone this time as DH can't ask for any more time off.

We discussed the birth plan today but we already knew what we wanted from NCT.

MrsJW15 · 06/04/2017 15:54

So frustrating yellow but I think you are right - better to go for the scan just in case!

I had my 34 week appointment, and they said we would discuss birth plan next time, at 36 weeks. But I think DH will try and write it beforehand, I think we know what we want now. The midwife did say that it was unusual to ask for the pool and not get it which is good. Bump measured exactly on 35, which is fine as I'm 35 weeks tomorrow, so no growth scan for me.

On the less good news it turns out I had thrush (and actually tests had identified it a few weeks ago and they didn't call to tell me) so now I need to go to the GP and get a prescription. DH will need to take something as well I think. Anyone else had this?

savagehk · 06/04/2017 15:57

yellow do you have a growth charty thing or not? I can't see how they'd refer you every time if you were following a line, even if it were a lower line than they'd like?

@nursebickypegs I know right! I brought this up on the FB group the other day, DH and I have DTD 3 times in the last 9/10 weeks or so. A) I'm bloody knackered B) I don't look or feel sexy at the moment C) it's the unsexiest thing ever having to have a conversation that starts 'right how do you want to do this so it's comfy for you' 🙈😂

@Autumnsweater my DH pronounced the same at our first NCT class, I do think it's lovely that he's happy to be in the pool if that's where I want him

@teainbed fybogel is what I've been using, doesn't taste amazing, but certainly helps!

Super jealous of all those with gardens...

@RedBlu sorry to hear, make sure you get some rest though.

Got another NCT class tomorrow which is ladies only over lunch so have been baking today to take a few bits in which will be nice. Plus my new tankini arrived today so DH and I are going swimming tonight!

savagehk · 06/04/2017 16:02

psyllium husk is the active goodie in fybogel. I avoid artificial sweetners so no fybogel for me. I'm having the psyllium husk in orange juice. Texture still not ideal but you don't really notice (pretend it's the 'with bits' version Grin )

Our doula said one of the questions she was asked once before a birth was by the partner, who wanted to know if he could also be naked in the pool (!). Luckily when it came to it he didn't strip off....

So went for my scan, baby and placenta looked ok but they are concerned about growth (30th centile?) and amniotic fluid was low end normal. So the consultant told me all this and said she wanted to rescan in two weeks. THEN she got the nurse to check my blood pressure which was high.. no protein in urine but they are more worried now.
I have to go back to the main hospital for bloods and a steroid injection tonight in case I'm starting with pre-eclampsia.. and I'm not to go back to work!

I'm so glad I pushed for the scan thanks everyone with the help, part of me was thinking I was over-reacting so I don't know if I would have without as much without everyone's encouragement. Am still a bit worried that my blood pressure went high because I was worried about the growth, but they can't be too careful.

savagehk · 06/04/2017 16:17

Hopefully all OK Autumn - remember 30th centile on its own just means you're growing a little baby, not that there's cause for concern (but hence the 2 week rescan, hopefully baby is following line). Fingers crossed for the bloods too x

OP posts:
Northernexile · 06/04/2017 16:30

Glad you got your scan autumn - 30th centile shouldn't be a problem unless you weren't following a curve I'd have thought. Have you an idea of what line it has been following? Hopefully the blood pressure issue was just down to the stress of waiting for the scan and nothing more. I've had about 6 scans now and this bean has been sticking resolutely to the 9th centile so they're happy enough to let it stay put another 2 weeks.

Northernexile · 06/04/2017 16:31

Have just realised I'm 37 weeks today- officially term! 😃

RedBlu · 06/04/2017 16:33

I don't really want to bring my maternity leave forward, I have already moved it forward by one week and any sooner would mess up when I had to return. Besides if I can go back after Easter I would only have two weeks then I have got two weeks holiday booked before starting maternity.

And I would also like to have a "last day" not just that I went off sick never to return, well returned seven months later!!

Barnes79 · 06/04/2017 16:35

Autumn My bump is below the 0 centile (if such a thing existed) but as it's following a curve they aren't worried, so try not to worry about that bit too much... Glad you finally got the scan Grin

coxsorangepippin · 06/04/2017 16:40

If you don't like the texture of fybogel or lepicol you can get the same stuff (psyllium) in capsules to just have with a glass of water

nursebickypegs · 06/04/2017 16:44

@RasperryInAMelon YES! It's so bloody unattractive, I feel massive... the other day I said to DH "I'm sorry we haven't had sex.... SOB SOB" and started crying!!! He literally gave me "my wife is insane" look. It's a mixture of being shattered and feeling the least sexy I have ever been in my life.

Could you send me a request to the FB group again Raspberry?

I always prescribe patients fybrogel; I describe it as "Mr Muscle Drain Cleaner" but for bowels! Disgusting but that's how I imagine it works!!

@RedBlu I know you're sad that you're off but I am secretly happy as I want you to rest! Please, relax... read, eat cake...

I know what you mean about last days though Red, I never got mine and never will. Work don't seem that bothered mind you as I've been deleted off the work what's app, FB and the email circulars, and only one colleague keeps in touch with me! I've secretly made a pact to myself that I'm not even going to tell them that my baby has arrived as I'm THAT PETTY.

What a beautiful day! DH has upgraded his phone to the iphone7 so we can have nice photos of Bub once he's here, and I've inherited his 128gb iPhone6. Its like Christmas today! Grin

@Autumnsweater great news you've got the scan. Hope all goes well in two weeks time and there will be no more need to worry. High blood pressure can be caused by stress too. Fingers crossed for blood test tonight, take care x

yellowismyfavourite · 06/04/2017 17:29

autumn pleased you finally got the scan good luck with blood tests tonight.
savage my measurements don't follow the line at all... first measurement was too small then too big, then too small again the last two times and I keep crossing lines. The last scan showed a drop in growth ... about 19 percentiles from the previous one 6 weeks earlier, but they said all within margin of error and probably caused by small femur length which was in line with 20w scan. They seem to blame margin of error and each other for not doing it right which is not helpful...

Tickyboovicki · 06/04/2017 17:30

Feeling like a kid again, other half treated me when the ice cream van came!

Sipperskipper · 06/04/2017 17:35

autumn I'm glad you got your scan. Hope everything turns out fine - it sounds like they are just being on the safe side, which is excellent. Silly question to everyone, but what is a centile?!

My maternity notes don't have any sort of charts in, so there's no trend to see or anything like that.

redblu I hope you feel better soon, and that this time off helps you to recuperate.

nursebickypegs your work sound like a bunch of arseholes!

mrscrocopop · 06/04/2017 17:56

MrsJW - I have had it too. Interestingly it took them a few weeks to call and tell me too. I didn't have any of the usual symptoms though. Unfortunately I think I now have it again Confused
Pregnancy is delightful!

I am so jealous of those on mat leave doing their washing in the sun! Only three working days left here... 🎉

1004Rise · 06/04/2017 18:12

Today's random question, has anyone painted a cot... what with? The cot we have was a complete bargain (freeGrin ) but it needs a bit of tlc... it's solid wood so will be easy to sand down etc. I just don't know what to then paint it with Confused

Glad you got your scan @Autumnsweater I hope the bp was just the stress of the situation and that everything else is ok. Flowers

@Tickyboovicki not jealous of your ice-cream at all!EnvyEnvyEnvy

I'm pretending the sun outside is actually warm and making lamb and haloumi kebabs for dinner, they really belong on a BBQ but even for me 10oC is too cold Grin

11 working days left! Counting me never!!

vanilla8 · 06/04/2017 18:15

@1004Rise rustoleum paint is great, no priming needed, I'm sure I've read it is 'baby-safe'

Northernexile · 06/04/2017 18:16

sipper centiles are used to help you plot growth. If your baby is 30th centile for every hundred babies 70 will be bigger, 29 smaller (roughly), so it's to give you are idea of where they are compared with others. It carries on once they're born, the red book has charts for plotting centiles for weight and height etc. I have a chart in my notes and this bean is following the 9th centile curve, as both my dds did. Hope that makes some kind of sense. They usually look for baby to be following a centile line and tend to only get concerned if it's way above/below the top/bottom of the chart or if it suddenly shoots up/down after previously following another line.

EsmesBees · 06/04/2017 18:45

ticky that must be some ice cream van! Looks amazing. So jealous of everyone relaxing in the sun.

Sipper you'll hear a lot about centiles once the baby is here. When the baby comes they weigh and measure them and use that birth weight centile to work out if they are putting weight on properly. It's not something I've ever been clear on the evidence for to be honest, but when my 25 centile born DD dropped below the 9th line the health visitor told me I had to get her weighed every two weeks.

Had interviews today for my maternity cover. No one perfect, the nearest candidate is a bit junior and would probably need a lot of handholding. But it's either that or my boss does without someone for 9 months. So not ideal. But have decided there is no point feeling guilty about it. People have babies all the time and they'll have to cope.

Teaspoon74 · 06/04/2017 18:52

Esmes exactly the right attitude re cover! One of my gang will step up a level to "Head of" so not all my duties, but many. Just found his backfill today - which is a huge relief. Not perfect, but second time of trying/advertising and of the scheduled four interviewees 2 cancelled today and of the two who showed up for interview, one was pissed!! This is for a 10month job paying around £43k. Insane!!

teainbed · 06/04/2017 19:00

Glad you got the scan autumn shame about your BP! Good that they are following you up though.

WishIWasSleeping · 06/04/2017 19:01

MrsJW - thrush is normal as long as it's cleared up before delivery. They usually just prescribe canesten. I had it with DD and my discharge was plenty and a fabulous shade of green! Envy

Autumn - high bp and protein are only two of the warning signs they look for with PE. Expect to be monitored more and have your BP checked possibly every week, if not every two at this stage, but I imagine the stress would have upped you! Keep an eye out for swelling especially in the face, or excessively in other areas as that's a big giveaway. They've been suspecting it with me since week 15 because of my high BP and protein/electrolyte count! - and exactly as Savage said for baby, so try not to worry too much. Flowers xx

So I had my growth scan today, which I thought would be a waste of time as although my bumps a little big, I presumed everything was normal. I'm 35 weeks today. Baby is bigger in all areas and has gone from being on the 50th centile at 20wks, to the 97th today. The estimated weight is currently 7lb9... DD was 7lb7 full term!! Shock
I've still got 3 weeks left at work... Confused
It's going to be an interesting conversation with my mw on Monday!
