@lullaby23 I love physio tape; my hips dislocate and that stuff really helps. I did know trick tovget the sticky off but it's lost in my brain somewhere.

I think a patient taught me the Ella's Pouch trick and they put it in their porridge. I've used it in smoothies before too! Grin My bowels are haywire during this pregnancy.

nursebickypegs · 06/04/2017 05:00

@Teaspoon74 do you live rurally? We live about 5 minutes from town, and I have never seen a real life fox! I had a college friend who lived in the countryside and a fox would visit nightly. They would feed it flapjack and porridge! I dream of living in the country & seeing stars at night time!

newbieho · 06/04/2017 06:34

@Rustler74 maybe you could try eating dates? They sweet, have got plenty of fibres and can speed up the labour (I think Kim mentioned it here).

@Teaspoon74 I am surprised your cats are so chilled out with the fox company. Mine furbabies hate foxes and chase them as soon as they spot one.

Sipperskipper · 06/04/2017 07:00

teaspoon what a beautiful fox. I absolutely love them! We keep chickens, and unfortunately have lost some to foxes over the years, but I just can't bring myself to have any sort of bad feeling towards them!

Autumnsweater · 06/04/2017 07:19

@rustler74 I had a period of this around week 27, been having muesli with dried fruit in it and added linseed, seems to have sorted me out! Plenty of fruit/dried fruit, bran, could try lactulose? Re landlord you probably are being paranoid but put it away if it's easy to do so, won't hurt.

@wishiwassleeping Shock!!! I might do this again!! Grin

@teaspoon74 LOVE cheeky foxy! Have you seen any of the David Sedaris stuff about his fox visitor 'Carol'?

@nursebickypegs sorry to hear about your mum. My Dad's parents were similar to this, we had a great childhood though he was determined to do better and did. Your MiL sounds like her heart is in the right place?

@rasperry 😂 at the men at the NCT! My DH told me that HE may be too tired for it
post baby 😂 think that may have been to make me feel less pressure although he is worried about lack of sleep.

lullaby23 · 06/04/2017 07:25

nurseb think I will try slathering with coconut oil later couldn't be bothered last night. It's good actually, gives a bit of support and reminds me to try and keep pelvis symmetrical. All I want to do is curl up on the sofa with my legs tucked up!

1004Rise · 06/04/2017 08:25

Tell me the dreams get better after baby is born (or at least that I won't have enough sleeping time to dream) I have no idea what I was dreaming about but woke up at 2.30 am ridiculously angry, no idea what at or why but I was so pissed off I couldn't sleep til I calmed down (3 hours later) totally weird!! HmmConfused

@Teaspoon74 love your foxy visitor! Funny how he just sits there like he belongs! Guess he thinks he's on to a good thing! Grin

McBaby · 06/04/2017 08:27

@rustler 74 dates and linseeds have helped me so much this time has v bad time in last two pregnancies and have managed to avoid lactuloae this time ( which can also cause painful wind and bloating)!

Also dates are supposed to have the added benefit of softening your cervix.

I hate foxes last year we had 11 cubs and 5 adults in the garden. I can't stand the poo in the garden and then don't feel safe with the kids out there alone with so many foxes!

mrscrocopop · 06/04/2017 08:41

Rustler - try Lepicol (you can get it online and in Holland & Barratt). You mix it with a small glass of orange juice (the bitty stuff is better as then the texture doesn't seem so off).
I find one teaspoon per day is keeping me regular. If I have a bad day I up it to two - if I'm having a few good days I don't take any. It's perfectly safe in pregnancy. My mum has sworn by it for years and she is obsessed with stomach/microbiome stuff.
I have got a nice big tub for after birth too as really don't want t risk getting bunged up then!

savagehk · 06/04/2017 08:56

I'm sort of taking lactulose and psyllium husk (the active ingredient in lepicol) - partly for now (I didn't have this side effect last pregnancy!) and partly so that I know everything will be... easier... post birth. The lactulose takes a few days to build up in your system, last birth I was discharged with both and they did really help. Luckily I don't get side effects from either.

Landlords aren't allowed to discriminate against pregnant women, btw, not sure how you'd ever prove it though and of course once you're not pregnant anymore... !

Place marking. I do read but find the thread moves so quickly these days!

Autumnsweater · 06/04/2017 09:47

Had first antenatal class last night (NHS one) - it was good! Had a pelvis model/'wooly womb'/doll to explain labour.
We get 3 classes, first is about 'normal'/uncomplicated birth, second about complications, third about feeding i think.

My DH was hilarious, asked loads of questions, the one that tickled me was "can I get into the birthing pool/should I bring my trunks" which he had NOT run by me first 😂! He also turned to me when she was talking about packing snacks for your hospital bag and said "I'll make flapjacks" 😂😂... i swear most of his brain is preoccupied with where his next meal is coming from!

teainbed · 06/04/2017 10:57

Fybogel is also good. Working for me anyway! I would much prefer to take prunes, orange juice etc but its too many carbs when I'm already trying to juggle insulin and my normal diet.

The baby was doing crazy flips last night, seems to have calmed down a bit this morning. They seem to make your heart and stomach sink!

yellowismyfavourite · 06/04/2017 11:00

Thanks bean and esme. Welcome belle
Great news teaspoon mine has a big head too but tiny legs!
raspberry glad you like your NCT group. Mine is great too and it's making everything slightly less scary!
Autumn my DH is obsessed with what he will eat while I'm in labour... stomach always comes first!!

Sipperskipper · 06/04/2017 11:23

Washing all the newborn & 0-3 bits today - making the most of this wonderful weather! Doing this has made me feel a bit more....relaxed? Excited? Thanks to those who suggested cracking on with some preparations.

I absolutely love seeing baby clothes on the line. It makes me want to buy more just so I can fly it on the line!

teainbed · 06/04/2017 12:26

What beautiful gardens newbie and sipper! I assume you're a bit further south than me we've not got tulips or daffs out yet. Will be lovely to sit out with the baby in a few weeks.

beanturnipandspud · 06/04/2017 12:36

teaspoon 🙈 my mum had fast 2nd stages too. So must run in the family. Although had midwife apt today and mw said that this time I must ring for a mw as soon as my contractions become regular. As labours tend to get quicker and quicker. With turnips being under 3hrs I dread to think what this one may be 🙈💙

1004rise I am unsure why increased risk of bleeding. I've spoken to my midwife today and she thinks consultant is just being over cautious. She said I've never bled before so no reason I would now. It only increases significantly if this was baby number 5+
However the risk of my body going into shock again is the same. But I'm prepared for that this time so think I will handle it much better. It scared me last time.

wish I made DH donate this year to find out his blood group. This was due to me being o neg, and both babies being o neg made me think DH could be o neg too and I wouldn't need the anti-d! Anyway, DH is o pos so I've still had to have the needles 😪

lullaby!i think #13 will see the first baby too 😊

skipper and newbie I love pegging out. And life nothing more than having little things on the line. Cloudy with a chance of rain up here so no chance of me doing this today. But I love love love your pics 😍

I am working from home today, it felt amazing to grab my laptop and get on the couch with no makeup, no hair done and not had to wrestle with my wardrobe 👏🏼 may have to suggest a day a week until I finish ... feel much more relaxed.

Sipperskipper · 06/04/2017 12:45

teainbed yes, in South Essex. Have been very lucky with the weather. Climbing rose is even covered in buds!

PeachIcedT · 06/04/2017 13:21

Great news she has flipped @Teaspoon74 ! @Autumnsweater my DH is obsessed with the food situation, get the feeling he's planning on packing us both a picnic!

Loving the photos of baby clothes @Sipperskipper and @newbieho I'm jealous to be locked up at work with barely a window to see the glorious sunshine! This will be a job for me on Sunday which also looks like promising weather.

jennymac31 · 06/04/2017 13:32

Afternoon ladies

Just had my last hydrotherapy session and am gutted that it's ended but the waiting list at my hospital is huge and I'm grateful I was able to get on the course in the first place. My physiotherapist is gonna give me a call next week to discuss next options but I think I'll be looking into private sessions from now on. I do think it will be worth it, as it's helped my spd so much.

Rustler74 · 06/04/2017 13:37

Thank you for the tips ladies on my tmi problem!
Had a scan this morning: baby growing along the same line and already 2.4 kg Shock gonna be a biggie as I'm only 33 weeks tomorrow. Much better scanning experience than last time golly!

RedBlu · 06/04/2017 14:17

And signed off again..... now until after Easter. I even tried getting reduced hours but the doctor through taking another week to rest was best.

I have to go back after Easter otherwise I am going to go past being signed off 36 weeks and would get put on maternity.

Whilst I am annoyed at being signed off again, I had a really bad night with pains in my pelvis and hips and have been getting mild cramping across the bump and stuff which I guess is BH as it doesn't last long.

jennymac31 · 06/04/2017 14:42

Redblu - sorry to hear that you've been signed off again but hopefully you can just rest and recuperate over the easter break.

I take it you wouldn't consider starting your maternity leave at 36 weeks?
