@Nurse15 that's far enough away! Hope all goes well for you. Flowers

@teainbed glad you're homeBrew

@Sipperskipper glad they're looking after you, I think you're looking at it all in a very sensible way

@RasperryInAMelon definitely a case of be careful what you wish for. I'm now convinced this baby is the right way but the resulting stabbing pains when s/he stretches take my breath away. Can't believe how strong something so small is!

We didn't book a hypnobirthing class it was too difficult to get one that we wouldn't move halfway through. I've just started the KG book this weekend because I think I needed to not be at work for a couple of days to be able to focus on it. DH isn't much of a reader so I'm just going to have to try and translate for him.

Got a bargain in tk maxx yesterday a 2.5 tog gro bag for £13 so quite pleased - simple things!

Has anyone got any travel cot recommendations? I'm planning on using one as a "safe space" from intermittently grumpy fur baby as well as for travelling, and am struggling to find ones which are light, fold up small and have a base which can be raised up for the newborn phase (I've a historically bad back and don't fancy lots of bending over and picking something up from floor level whilst bending at the waist).

newbieho · 16/04/2017 10:51

@Barnes79 we bought Joie travel cot - not as expensive as Nuna but very easy to fold and has got a newborn insert. You can buy separately insect net and cat net.

MissMooMoo · 16/04/2017 10:55

I have lots to catch up on but want to say Happy Easter to everyone!
Congrats Tea and goodluck Nurse, I am sure you are in good hands.
Just having a hot bath as I have had bad lower back cramps since yesterday afternoon. Lots of discharge as well but none that is like the plug (did some google image searching, do not recommend!) Don't know if this is just baby getting into a better position or not. 35+4 today.
Off to DH's auntie today for Easter lunch, mentioned to DH this is probably the last relaxing family dinner for us for a while so we better enjoy it!!!

MrsJW15 · 16/04/2017 10:57

Nurse hope you are doing ok, sounds very stressful.

Klane I think we need to start doing the reading and the breathing exercises. DH is good at the massage but listening to the relaxation in bed sends him to sleep!

Good luck NorthernExile!

Best present yesterday was vouchers for pregnancy massage at Cowshed. Can't wait!

Re Ikea: OH just suggested we should go tomorrow (now that we have measured and planned what every wall in our flat should look like!)
We have had other trips where he showed interest but after doing the whole trip round (blooming tiring !) he pulled out and didn't wanna buy it whilst standing in front of the self service area!!!

EsmesBees · 16/04/2017 11:42

Jenny I've booked myself in for acupuncture. Mainly because it's offered on the NHS at my hospital and thought I might as well. First session in a couple of weeks.

I feel your pain bean. The last trip to IKEA we had DD had just started walking, refused to sit in the trolley, and spent the whole trip trying to take various breakable objects off the low shelves.

RasperryInAMelon · 16/04/2017 14:07

So after 6 days of CTG - LOs heartbeat seems fine although I'm still not feeling as much as I was previously so we will still be going for a scan tomorrow.

Question though, on the CTG monitor it detects contractions too and I only noticed today that the last 5 days I've been having contractions while I've been hooked up - I haven't really noticed anything, is this normal though? 34+4 today...

Autumnsweater · 16/04/2017 14:27

rasperry you mean is it normal for it to measure contractions when you can't feel them? That's due to your anterior placenta isn't it? I've found that on the CTG, I can hear the baby moving out of the way due to the interference but can't feel it half the time - assumed due to anterior placenta.

RasperryInAMelon · 16/04/2017 14:32

It reads two different things - foetal movements and contractions. Today it showed 3 movements and 2 contractions.

Tickyboovicki · 16/04/2017 14:41

My friend had that, it was just braxton hicks that she didn't know she was having, pretty common apparently!

Nurse15 · 16/04/2017 14:56

Thanks for the kind wishes everyone - contractions where regular overnight and this morning but appear to have slowed today so that's good news! Will continue to monitor for a few days as I'm still losing parts of my mucus plug (TMI!!) the joys!

Yes @Northernexile unfortunately they where the only neonatal beds in the country yesterday! Vey unfortunate

EsmesBees · 16/04/2017 14:57

Yep I think that's normal Raspberry. They are not real contractions you'd expect to feel. Just your body gearing up for the big day. You must be sick of the place after 6 days of monitoring. Glad everything is ok.

EsmesBees · 16/04/2017 14:57

Oh great news nurse. Sounds like the steroids are working.

Rustler74 · 16/04/2017 14:59

Shall we look out for the next thread?

RasperryInAMelon · 16/04/2017 15:16

Thanks guys - that's good to know ☺️

Hope everyone's relaxing today. DH is sat downstairs on the PlayStation waiting for the football and GP to start.

I've plonked myself in the tub with some chocolate and am sat with the biggest smile on my face and tears streaming down my face watching reruns of One Born Every Minute... 🙈

Rustler74 · 16/04/2017 16:08

Tummy been rumbling and craving food (ok mostly chocolate but hey) all day!
Is baby engaging? Feel a very uneasy pressure in my lower tummy, but no contractions. Baby has been moving lots today whereas in the past 2 days I'd not had lots of movement.

MrsJW15 · 16/04/2017 16:26

I'm definitely hungrier Rustler and I'm sure the bump is lower. Maybe it is baby engaging?

teainbed · 16/04/2017 17:19

Glad the monitoring is going ok @RasperryInAMelon I don't know if you spotted any numbers on the contractions monitor? When I was getting monitored the numbers were low for a BH like 10ish but when I was in labour they were over 90! DH was fascinated.

Good news about the contractions settling @Nurse15

Midwife came at 12. She was very nice, usual checks like BP and pulse, and DS's cord and colour. He's a tiny bit jaundiced but feeding and pooing for Scotland and quite alert so I'm not concerned currently.

WishIWasSleeping · 16/04/2017 17:23

Ha, Tea - I was only talking to a friend about contraction numbers the other day - I didn't watch the monitor at all during labour and remember DH keep commenting on what numbers we were getting to and how that much have hurt! Hmm
And we were told to put DD in sunlight at much as possible to relieve jaundice last year. And increase her feed her every 2 hours, which was a ballache to be honest as she was on 4hrs! I think they just get a bit overly cautious to be honest. If the baby was yellow I'd understand!
Good news on the steroids Nurse. x

Badgerbird · 16/04/2017 17:27

Glad all ok rasoberry :) do you feel braxton hicks strongly? I only thought of it last week as my stomach was doing weird sensations that it had been doing on and off for a few weeks and realised they might be BH but due to anterior placenta I may not feel them as others do?

mrsjw and rustler the changes are bonkers aren't they! I've been thinking I don't seem much bigger recently then all of a sudden today my bump seems to have popped again! I reckon she thought she should look lively as got mw and measuring tomoz! Grin

Barnes79 · 16/04/2017 17:29

We've moved to the new thread - see a post about 5 down (I don't know how to link to it Blush)

Rustler74 · 16/04/2017 21:20

@nursebickypegs are you ok? We are at next thread but missing you x
