Anyone doing anything exciting for the bank holiday weekend?

Sipperskipper · 15/04/2017 08:57

He is beautiful tea!! Hope you get home soon. And thank you for the birtb story!

Sorry to all those of you with trouble sleeping, I've had that intermitently & it is truly rubbish!

Autumnsweater · 15/04/2017 09:12

teainbed he's absolutely gorgeous I feel a bit emotional!! Thanks for sharing your birth story.

Northern I am doing as little as possible Grin. DH is sanding, sealing and varnishing 3 rooms with bare floorboards and I am pottering. Mum and sister visiting today but they will muck in. We were tourists in our own back yard last week while the weather was nice though, we live in the Peak District but visited Edensor and looked down at Chatsworth for the first time, had a nice lunch in a cafe. Normally go up onto the moors with the dogs all day on a day like that but it was a nice change and good to get to know a new area.

Barnes79 · 15/04/2017 09:23

I've got the IL's visiting. Any tips on how to stop MIL from going for a touch of my bump like she did last time I saw her? I tried to get not so DH to drop some hints about how much I don't like that but he wussed out Angry

Tickyboovicki · 15/04/2017 09:42

@Barnes79 threaten to rub hers back 😂 That's what I did to a woman at work!
Or more seriously if she tries just step back and say something like oh that's a bit close, then at least it might make her think and ask first

Northernexile · 15/04/2017 09:44

That sounds good autumn! I love a bit of pottering! Think we are going to have to get the DDs and DDog out for a bit of fresh air, weather permitting.
I hate bump-groping too Barnes, but people tend to do it before you get a chance to escape, don't they? I would try and stay at arm's length from her at all times if possible, maybe fake a bad cold/dodgy tummy so she won't want to get too close? Grin

newbieho · 15/04/2017 09:49

@Barnes79 I have no probs telling people in a nice but stern voice not to touch my belly as this is personal space. It may be related to the fact I am quite direct person that may be also perceived as rude.

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 15/04/2017 09:52

Thank you for sharing your story and photo tea he is beautiful. Glad you get a bit of peace with the room and good luck getting home soon. I really must get my hospital bag packed I think we were the same due date!

Anyone have any recommendations for a baby massage book?

Teaspoon74 · 15/04/2017 09:55

Barnes I hate the bump touching too. My dad's cousin thinks it's fine to just do it. I ended up having to say "please don't , I really don't like it when people do that"... and she still carried on!!! Your OH just has to have a word!

Northern one week?!? Excited?

Tea thanks for sharing; it's reassuring to hear positives about being induced/ having an epidural. And he is truly gorgeous. So happy for you!!

Bethany0903 · 15/04/2017 09:56

Congratulations @teainbed he's beautiful! 😊

Bethany0903 · 15/04/2017 09:58

Oh I'm glad we're talking about the belly touches! I'm so fed up of them! My belly is so uncomfortable and sore the last thing I want is people's grubby hands rubbing it haha!

1004Rise · 15/04/2017 10:06

@Barnes79 my MIL at least asked first, I don't like it but I didn't have the heart to say no Confused but arms length sounds like a plan...

@Northernexile it's an exciting to think this time next week you'll be getting cuddles too Grin

Definitely feeling more real now!!

Badgerbird · 15/04/2017 10:30

Oh tea that's just such Wonderful news Smile Huge Congratulations!!!
I'm so pleased it went well and you have your own room. Hoping his blood sugar levels even out soon and you can go home for more snuggles.
Thankyou for sharing a photo, he's just gorgeous. Star

yellowismyfavourite · 15/04/2017 10:55

@teainbed thanks for sharing your story and the photo... He is lovely. Hope his blood sugar a level out and you can go home although it's great about your own room.

I am having a date night with DH this evening... last one for a while so planning on enjoying it! We are having dinner then the theatre. Other than that just doing odds and ends at home.

peasandquiet · 15/04/2017 11:28

He looks so perfect tea, well done you for growing such a gorgeous little boy. That sounds like a really good induction experience. Hoping not to need one. It reassured if it does come to it I'll be ok!
At a wedding today, OH is best man. We are staying on site so think I'll be sneaking off to rest a few times! feeling like I'll be the only left out sober person!!

jennymac31 · 15/04/2017 11:55

Congratulations teainbed - he's absolutely adorable!

Have got my dd's birthday party today and not sure I can really be bothered. Have tried to help dh with tidying up and doing other things, as I felt a bit guilty with everything he's been doing lately. He was shattered yesterday and I know he's a bit stressed with work while he's trying to redecorate our bedroom when I know it's the last thing he wants to do right now. Am happy to pay someone to do it but he's stubborn and insists on getting it done before carpets & wardrobes are delivered at the end of the month.

Hope you all enjoy the bank holiday weekend xx

Rustler74 · 15/04/2017 12:06

Thanks @teainbed for sharing your induction story. I am most likely to get one, but still hoping that sprout will make a spontaneous appearance before the induction date. My birth plan is made but needs to be further discussed on next appointment after growth scan (4 May) I hope the Force will be with me that day!

When discharged I will be seen by a different team entirely as I'm slightly out of area for the community midwife team attached to the hospital, but I've met them quite regularly anyway, so I'm now put at ease that it will be them.

Bump touching has only been done by my mum so far (she made me so she can!) and luckily not too much by the in laws, as they do not know me that well anyway (only known OH since June 2015, and introduced to his parents in November that year. They're very nice and warm hearted people but luckily not too touchy. I've grown quite close to the wife of OH's youngest brother and she is a great girl. She would be allowed if she would ask.

Brightsmoke · 15/04/2017 12:24

Tea, he is gorgeous! Massive congratulations, and thanks for sharing your birth/induction story. Scary to think we were due on the same day! Hope you get to go home soon :)

I've been very lucky with belly touching, no one I'm not close to has asked, and everyone else has asked first

My DH has deserted me today to go for a motorbike ride and I'm ridiculously jealous not to be able to take my bike out so I'm enjoying a nice lazy day doing nothing. Hoping for a lazy weekend too, shame the weather is rubbish! Hope everyone still at work makes the most of the long weekend

MrsJW15 · 15/04/2017 12:29

Gorgeous photo teainbed

It's my birthday today but I wanted to keep it v quiet. So heading off for the day with DH for a picnic and then dinner with the family. Next weekend we are having birthday/prebaby drinks with friends.

EsmesBees · 15/04/2017 12:31

Oh Jenny that sounds tiring. Hope you haven't got too many children to entertain. I always find kids parties are more tiring than you'd expect.

We've had a morning at the farm with DD. So, so nice us both being off for a few days and sharing the load. I had a bit of a heart to heart with DH last night, basically saying I can't keep going doing everything I have been. And he said I need to step back then and tell him what needs doing. So we are going to try communicating more and being a bit more patient with each other. Hard when you are tired.

Rockyroad17 · 15/04/2017 13:08

Happy Birthday @Mrs hope the weather is kind to you on your picnic!

Congratulations @Tea - what a beauty! I still can't get my head around the fact there's an actual baby in there Grin

Feeling energised after a swim this morning. Managed to do 36 lengths without a stop, which is better than I have managed for a while.

I think I must be the only person who actually quite likes people touching my bump!

newbieho · 15/04/2017 13:09

Happy birthday @MrsJW15 , hope you are going to have a nice day 🎉

jennymac31 · 15/04/2017 13:25

Happy birthday mrsjw!

teainbed · 15/04/2017 13:37

Good luck @jennymac31 hope it goes well.

@Rockyroad17 that's a lot! You must feel super fit still!

@EsmesBees glad you had a chat with DH. It will be different again after the baby arrives and you've got two to look after, he needs to know that.

Well thankfully BabyTea's blood sugars have settled but we're still waiting on the paediatrician reviewing him. So hopefully nothing to hold us back from going home later on. Thank you for all your kind words. Made me smile!

lullaby23 · 15/04/2017 14:28

Lovely picture tea he looks very content 😍

Happy birthday mrsjw hope you have a nice relaxing day

barnes I think I would recoil in horror if anyone touched my bump, luckily my bitchy resting face means no one has tried so far.

PIL have flown in this evening so we are meeting them tomorrow, they are massive pissheads enjoy a drink so we're doing a free flow lunch. I haven't had a drink for ages so will be having a little glass.
