Good luck @Nurse15 , sounds like they are making sensible decisions for your situation.

Tickyboovicki · 16/04/2017 07:10

Definitely in the best place @Nurse15 maybe a surprise Easter gift for you then!

EsmesBees · 16/04/2017 07:32

Oh my goodness nurse. That sounds very stressful. Glad they found you a bed. Hope the contractions have stopped now.

I saw that article about the swimmer rise. She's obviously superwoman, there is no other explanation.

Hope your DD slept well Wish and you got to rest. Impressed at you even attempting a walk with such a young toddler.

Happy Easter all! Hope you all have lovely days. Think mine is going to involve a very happy toddler. She's not been introduced to the concept of Easter eggs yet...

KLane · 16/04/2017 07:52

@MrsJW15 I know what you mean about thinking there must be more to it! I try to do the breathing exercises twice a day for a few minutes, and listen to the birth affirmation statements (they're corny but I'm finding them surprisingly helpful). My favourite practices are the readings in the KG hypnobirthing book that the birth partner is to read out. Those are helpful for DH to engage with it all as well since he seems to fall asleep during all of the audio tracks Grin You may be able to find them online if you don't want to get the book!

Rabbitykins55 · 16/04/2017 07:56

Hope all is well @Nurse15! Sounds like you are being looked after.

Sipperskipper · 16/04/2017 07:59

Thinking of you nurse - must be scary having to transfer to another hospital so far away! Hopefully you will have your gorgeous little boy in your arms very soon. Keep us updated when you can.

Happy birthday for yesterday mrsjw!

bean the move & schools sounds super stressful, but you always sound so composed & on top of things! Good luck with it all.

Had baby monitored & more liver function tests yesterday, baby moving fine & liver tests the same. Have to go in twice weekly now for bloods & monitoring, & they will speak with consultant after the weekend when the other bloods (virus ones & hepatitis) are back. I'm classed as high risk now, which is a shame as I was planning a 'natural' birth, hopefully using hypnobirthing techniques etc, but this has sort of given me a 'wake up' - all I care about now is her being here safe & well!!

Rustler74 · 16/04/2017 08:06

@MrsJW15 happy belated birthday sounds like you had a well filled although emotional day!

@Nurse15 we are all thinking about you x let's hope it all goes fast and smooth xxx

Happy Easter to all! I'll be munching chocolate today x was in bed by 9pm yesterday and asleep by 10. Knackered from the lovely and lively visit by my brother in law with his wife and 20 month old darling. Just the Easter breakfast then lunch to deal with and then I'll have some more rest , well deserved! I think baby is starting to engage. Not sure why but head is going down and making me feel quite uncomfortable.

Barnes79 · 16/04/2017 08:46

@Nurse15 I hope everything goes ok. 🍀

Autumnsweater · 16/04/2017 08:48

@nurse15 good luck hope everything goes smoothly for you.

jennymac31 · 16/04/2017 08:52

Thinking of you nurse15 and keeping fingers & toes crossed!

Just wanted to know if any of you are thinking of having any pre-birth treatments I.e. Pregnancy acupuncture? A number of the ladies in my hydrotherapy class are considering it and my physiotherapist swears by it, as she believes the acupuncture treatments really helped her with the labour & birth of her last two kids. I think I've heard the treatment referred to as 'cervix expansion' but I could be completely wrong! Anyway am planning on going to an initial consultation on Tuesday to see if it's something to consider, as treatment is recommended from 36/37 weeks.

When pregnant with dd I drank raspberry leaf tea from 36 weeks and not sure it did anything so am happy to give acupuncture a go, as previous treatments have helped with other health issues I had. Plus I'm hoping the treatment might also help with my spd at the same time, especially as it's unlikely that I'll be able to do any more hydrotherapy between now and due date.

Hope you all have a lovely easter xx

FoxMulder · 16/04/2017 08:54

Hope you're alright today nurse15

klane We've been practicing the hypnobirthing scripts nightly too. I find the arm stroking one really annoying though so need to adapt that!

mrscrocopop · 16/04/2017 09:08

Hope everything goes well for you nurse xx

lullaby23 · 16/04/2017 09:09

All the best with the transfer nurse will be thinking of you.

newbieho · 16/04/2017 09:19

@jennymac31 I'm interested too in pregnancy acupuncture - please let us know once you find out more.

teainbed · 16/04/2017 09:22

Oh wow @Nurse15 that sounds worrying and to be so far from home! You're in the right place, hope you're ok this morning.

We're home. We had a nice chilled evening and the DC were very happy to meet their brother! Overnight was pretty rough but a fairly typical first night at home. DS fed lots and quite well I thought but unsettled in between. We've been told to expect midwives anytime from 9!

Happy Easter everyone.

teainbed · 16/04/2017 09:28

And @Northernexile apologies if I've missed it but are you getting induced or having a section this week? All the best!

WishIWasSleeping · 16/04/2017 09:36

I'm laughing at 'anytime from 9' Tea!
We lived in a converted barn on a farm estate when we brought DD home, the mw rang at about 4 I think for directions on her first visit! Grin
Which incidentally wasn't the day after. I had a mw appt with my surgery so I was up washed, dressed and in the car (only 8 miles) and out for the morning from 9 to get DD registered and seen by a doctor too.
I will not be doing that again!! I was not ready to be driving!

Thanks Esme- she slept straight through. Star and has already had a cup of tea, breakfast and chocolate this morning!

Happy Easter All! Easter Smile

Good Luck Nurse!

beanturnipandspud · 16/04/2017 09:39

jennymac we still haven't heard turnips fate! Our local authority aren't releasing until Tuesday, but the school we want is in a different local authority and they released at midnight last night. I've contacted the school to see if they have the list and to see if Turnip is on it. I don't think I can wait 2 more days 🙈

nurse15 thinking of you. Why may they take you for a section? I hope you are ok.

sipper 😂 I am not one to get phased by things but I do feel like I've taken a lot on recently. I can't wait to finish work and then I can maybe relax. Although I am a workaholic and a bit of a control freak. So the school admission and the house move are irritating me as they're completely out of my control. I just want to know what's happening. Hopefully by this time next week I will have a date for the move and will know if I need to fight for turnips place at school.

I was high risk with Turnip, as I nearly lost her at 20wks and they stitched my cervix up. Bean was also an
Undiagnosed small baby so they kept a close eye on Turnip. Although we were high risk I still managed a calm and beautiful labour. Although in
Hospital on the suite and not in the mlu ... I still enjoyed the way we met.

jennymac I am not planning on treatments as such but I have booked in for an hour and a half full body massage concentrating on my feet, a week before my due date. If nothing else it is going to totally relax me. I've read so many birth stories that begin when mum is in a total relaxed state that I can't think they will be any harm and at worst I've had an hour & a half to myself.
I also drank raspberry leaf tea with bean & Turnip, my midwife has told me to not drink it this time as my second stage is quick enough. Apparently it doesn't induce labour it just helps your uterus in getting strong and ready for labour.

teainbed glad you are home. Have you decided on a name yet? I'm sure midwives tell you anytime from 9 and turn up at 5 to make sure we stay in and take it easy. 😂 hope you have a lovely easter.

My dad came round yesterday with eggs for bean & turnip and a cute little outfit for spud. First thing anybody else has bought him. His corner in the lounge is starting to bulge I may sort through it today.

FoxMulder · 16/04/2017 09:40

Anyone else feel like they have a massive sugar crash after breakfast? Only breakfast and no matter what I've eaten!

McBaby · 16/04/2017 09:45

I had lots of Accupucture with dd1 it helped spd but I still went to 40+6 but labour was quick.

With dd2 no Accupucture but induced at 38 weeks and labour was faster.

So not sure it made any difference so I won't be going again this time.

vanilla8 · 16/04/2017 09:48

Oh thinking off you @Nurse15, and glad you're home @teainbed

I haven't even looked at hypnobirthing, anyone recommend anything on audible?

Northernexile · 16/04/2017 09:50

Happy Easter everyone, just finished the egg hunt here. Yes tea, my section is booked for Friday so I am really on the countdown now. Glad you got home last night, hope you manage to get a bit of rest during the day today. Good to hear that he is feeding well.
Nurse- good luck, hope all goes well today. 35 weeks and 5lb is not bad at all. Is it Enniskillen they have moved you to or Altnagelvin? Enniskillen is a lovely new hospital- I know a few people who gave birth there are the facilities are excellent.

Happy birthday for yesterday MrsJW! Also hope those of you waiting on the school allocations get good news. We are out in the sticks and the little school here is always looking to increase their numbers, so we didn't have any worries like that with DD thankfully. There's 14 in her reception class this year (11 boys!), which was a very big intake for them.
sipper it sounds like they are taking good care of you, although I know it's frustrating when your plans have to change. Hopefully you can still get to use a lot of the techniques you wanted to, maybe they can do remote monitoring?

Rustler74 · 16/04/2017 10:00

@FoxMulder most definitely after breakfast ! I end up munching all morning until lunch!

Definitely wanting acupuncture as one option to release tension and bring on labour! I've had it many times done by TCM trained physiotherapists and it was so helpful with my joint aches, particularly my elbow and knees. Luckily there are a few midwives in the hospital that are trained in it! I don't want it in advance necessarily, though, just during labour.

Autumnsweater · 16/04/2017 10:05

@northernexile ooh good luck! Must have missed that news! Exciting all these babies starting to arrive..

Badgerbird · 16/04/2017 10:08

nurse15 I hope you are being well looked after Flowers I was a 5 pounder and turned out fine. X

Bean Ikea sounded hell. def a trip to be taken alone or with a girlfriend (hate going with DH, he doesn't "get it") and no kids me thinks! Hope the takeaway and box set helped ;)

mrspage we are doing a Jenny Mullen hypnobirthing course. Only had 1 lesson so far, have downloads and a book. TBH I wasn't overly impressed with first class but I'm biased as have been going meditation, positive thinking, mind over matter type stuff for years and have had training/worked in that field a little so I found it rather basic. Our NHS ante natal class told us more info about hormones etc which was very useful but we'll see what the rest of course brings. I'd def recommend listening to some hypnosis or meditations from you tube and reading up on the subject. It's interesting stuff and makes sense.

Hey jenny I'm s big acupuncture fan and I think I mentioned upthread I had it before and during this pregnancy so if I feel it will help later down the line I will go ahead as my acupuncture man specialises in pregnancy. Let us know how you get on.

tea your first night at home with family, how special Smile

esme I hope your little one enjoys her first Easter egg experience!

Have been sitting in bed drinking tea and munching on home made dark chocolate and pecan brownies Brew That's an appropriate brekkie for Easter Sunday right? No Easter eggs or hot cross buns in our house... fox I feel a post "breakfast" crash coming on!!
