It's the penultimate day!!! 😬 sitting on the train and little Molly is having a really good kick around in excitement!

@astormgivenflesh That's why we went with the Wayfarer - I'm 5'4 and DH is 6'1 so we needed something which changed height well and easily. There were a few others we looked at which were really fiddly even just to do that.

I'd really suggest if you're wanting to put it in your car to actually try before you buy. Our Wayfarer is a snug fit in our 207 but I'm so pleased it fits because it was the pram we had our hearts set on!

@nursebickypegs it's a shame that most people haven't seen the same MW, I really think it helps to make a difference and has certainly lowered my anxieties that's for sure. I'm just gutted she won't be at the hospital when I labour 😔

@ShiniBerry thanks for the link to the breast shells, I've added them to my list of things to look at!

@Brightsmoke I've had this for a while and have come to the point of using a light sanitary towel now otherwise I'd be changing my undies every 5 minutes 🙈

Teacher at last nights NCT course couldn't express how important pelvic floor exercises are and how although you will get a natural increase it helps with that too.

Hooray to the found H&M parcel @MrsJW15
Silly parcel driver leaving it in the wrong place, perhaps take the ones that don't fit and exchange for something else without a receipt in store. (They'll never know!) 🙊

@teainbed 🙋🏼 for the perennial - again another topic that came up last night. Teacher was saying you can buy lots of lovely lotions and potions but actually KY Jelly works just as well and as unpretty as the experience may be - it's easier to get DH to do it... 😕

@Teaspoon74 NCT was great actually! 6 couples in total and everyone was of a similar age which was lovely! Lots of 'do we still have time to change our minds' asked! 😂

@beanturnipandspud hope you had a lovely time in Paris!

Re birthplans - I really hope I can use the MLU and the birthing centre to have the water birth 🤞🏻

Like @nursebickypegs I'm jotting down ideas in my iPhone notes!

@Autumnsweater 😳😳😳 contraception is on my list to ask the MW on Monday!

KLane · 30/03/2017 08:15

@Teaspoon74 Just the hypnobirthing class was there as it was a private class. I'm at Lewisham Hospital (midwife at my local GP though).

newbieho · 30/03/2017 08:17

@beanturnipandspud it's great to hear you've got good time in Paris, I bet the kids were quite excited!

Brightsmoke · 30/03/2017 08:29

I love you ladies!! I feel normal again Grin. I think it worried DH, which then got me thinking about it. I'm not one to call the doctors unless my arm is hanging off, so hate the thought of calling midwife for something so minor, although I know they wouldn't mind! But I shall keep an eye on it, might mention it at my 36W app on Tuesday.

So I've never heard of perineal massage, just googled it whilst at work Blush and will inform DH of something else he has to do for me Grin.

I hope this lovely weather continues when we have the babies, I have images of sitting on the lawn with a picnic, like the scene from Father Ted, when the teacher has baby Peggy and Will goes to see her for the first time. I love that film!!

PeachIcedT · 30/03/2017 08:55

Today looks like a great day of weather, unfortunate timing for me in that I'm heading west away from it but the trade is I get a spa day which will probably be my last bit of relaxation for a while. Packed my maternity notes just in case! It makes me so happy to think that the weather could be like this a lot (hopefully) during first half of mat leave, certainly makes it easier to take the baby outside :)

Autumn you can have the mini pill or a coil or depot straight away, combined pill if you're breastfeeding you need to wait a bit. Some areas are really proactive about sending you home with something, other less so. But everyone is so different, some do feel like having sex pretty soon for others it's difficult. I have waited between 4 and 12 weeks, until it felt right.

Perineal massage was not a thing when I last gave birth but it's can't hurt I suppose. I have never torn and just had a few grazes the last time but I like the idea of being as prepared as possible!

Liquor volume scans are a scan to check the amount of amniotic fluid you have. I will get them weekly from next week but they're not part of the usual schedule unless you have a problem near the end.

savagehk · 30/03/2017 09:42

...and for anyone waiting for their doctor's 6 week check signoff thing before having sex, you don't even get examined, just a whole lot of questions asked. So... no real point in waiting unless you have concerns!

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 30/03/2017 09:45

Bright yes less than 5 weeks until our EDD and I'm yet to buy nipple cream!!

First day off of my 3 weeks of working 4 days today, seriously thinking of just not getting dressed as this is bliss. I might reach for the olive oil and try a little massage and report back... Blush. I'm measuring 32cm at 35 weeks though midwife did not seem concerned at all, but maybe slightly smaller bump means I'll be able to reach...

Red as everyone else has said, please look after yourself. It's so easy to say when it's someone else in this situation I know but even those colleagues who are mean and clueless enough to have a negative thought about your situation won't remember in a few weeks time whereas doing too much now could affect you for goodness knows how long Flowers

Rasperry your commute has sounded hellish for months, hope you enjoy your last 2 days and then reeelllaaaxxx!

Teaspoon74 · 30/03/2017 09:52

Starting to get focussed on how quickly the due date is getting close!!

Am meant to spend my last work day co-hosting a conf of 500 GPs & practice managers a week before I pop. Slightly terrified I may end with a colleague between my legs Confused

Unrealistic as expecting to be induced so DD is 38wks but hasn't stoped me having crazy dreams about it!

RasperryInAMelon · 30/03/2017 09:55

@dreamofhungarianlanterns Let us know how you get on... I think we / I might give it a go next week and see what its like

The commutes are getting worse and I swear, the more pregnant fat I get the less people seem to notice give a shit It's driving me bonkers to the point I got a tad rude with some guy on the tube the other day when he refused to give me a seat after he questioned how many stops I was going, when I told him two, he told me he didn't think I needed it as it was a short way. To make matters worse, not one other person in the carriage commented or offered me their seat.

Teaspoon74 · 30/03/2017 10:03

Rasperry well done you for asking tho!

Am so hormonal teary exhausted worn down by my commute at the moment (bus, dlr, tube, bus, walk - 1.5hrs each way) that I can't challenge without fear of hysteria (which has only happened once).

Few things less attractive/ conducive to a relaxed commute home than a heavily pregnant woman sobbing hysterically at the end of the carriage for having to stand Blush

4 more weeks of (mostly) 3 day commuting. Thank fuck.

1004Rise · 30/03/2017 10:20

@RasperryInAMelon yeay for second last day, I don't know how you ladies who have a long commute manage to get out of bed in the morning never mind getting there without punching at least 3 people Angry Stresses me out just thinking about it!

@dreamofhungarianlanterns glad I'm not the only one wondering how to reach Hmm

@Teaspoon74 sorry but the colleague between your legs comment made me laugh Smile

MrsJW15 · 30/03/2017 10:24

Ugh four more weeks here as well teaspoon but three of those are four day working weeks and I'm hoping to work from home at least one day a week. Will be pleased to cut down the commute (although mine isn't too bad) and also the wardrobe situation. I'm loving the warmer weather, but my desk is in the hottest corner of our all-glass office and most of my mat clothes are wintery!

Have decided to keep all the H&M stuff. In the end DH and I decided the only thing that we weren't sure about was a t-shirt that cost £10. H&M is not very near to me, so not worth taking back! It fits now, I'm just not sure if it will if bump grows at all!

newbieho · 30/03/2017 10:41

@Brightsmoke my DH volunteered for the massage so I don't have to worry about reaching over the bump...

@Teaspoon74 at least you know you will end up being in good hands (sorry) at the conference.

Badgerbird · 30/03/2017 10:53

Hi bean holiday sounds fab! Hope you get to bottom of the bh's, can see how that would be worrying with what happened before.

savage I got given that weleda perinieum oil by my good friend, made us chuckle the things we'll share!! Haven't started using it yet.... I'd imagine coconut oil would be just as good.... I use it for everything else!

autumn Sex that soon? Ouch!!?Wow.... Blimey esmes you are giving me hope :)

teaspoon that commute sounds ridiculous!! No wonder you feel emotional exhausted etc by it!! Not too long now thank god :)

dream enjoy your day! Good luck with massage ;) I can still easily reach that part of my body so will see how that changes over next few weeks Shock

Impromptu day off here as no work from agency. Yes the money would be good but f*#k that it's sunny (ish) outside!! Off to meet my gorgeous friend and her 5 month old for walk in park. Gotta make the most of these things Smile

Oh yes and my belly button piercing is infected! Gross!!! I put tea tree oil on it, should be ok? I hadn't taken piercing out as it was ok but obviously must have stretched over last few days. It's out now!!

lullaby23 · 30/03/2017 11:02

ShockShockShock at being pregnant with a 5 week old. I was packed off with a supply of the mini pill at my 6 week check, dr gave me a quick scan to make sure my uterus had contracted down and looked ok and told me to be careful as I had loads of follicles?! TBH it wasn't required for rather a long time but here we are expecting another little one Grin.

I have just done the maternity booking for my hospital which is making it feel a bit closer and more real.

WishIWasSleeping · 30/03/2017 11:05

Thought some of you might need this today!
Not long to go! x

@WishIWasSleeping love it, poor things must find it hard in the heat too!

OP posts:
1004Rise · 30/03/2017 11:21

@WishIWasSleeping Thanks!! My only answer to that is well at least they have 4 legs!!

Random question @Autumnsweater do animals get morning sickness? Seems like a bit of evolutionary failure on our part.... Hmm

Possibly pregnant at 5 weeks, not sure if I'm thankful or shocked!! @EsmesBees you give us hope though! I hadn't even thought about contraception Blush

@Badgerbird I'm amazed your belly button piercing was still in! My skin has been too tight since about 12 weeks Shock tea tree oil should be ok, if not there's always tcp!

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 30/03/2017 11:33

TMI alert, I've done my public service (1st attempt perineal massage) for the day, reporting back:

I used this www.wikihow.com/Do-Perineal-Massage as a guide with pictures as I successfully learnt how to propagate succulents from a wikihow and now have them all over the house Grin

Tips

  • definitely cut and file your thumb nails before attempting
  • to reach at all I had to prop hips on 2 pillows covered with towel which may not be the best position for us to get into at this stage
  • I got a massive pair of knickers out of hospital bag packing pile and popped a pantyliner inside ready to put on straight afterwards. To be honest probably neither the towel or the liner were actually necessary but I would do it again as so much easier to clean/ chuck if it is needed
  • The wikihow and other websites like NCT that came up when I googled all suggested massage may take 10 mins or so, so I cued up last nights episode of The Archers on iplayer. Obvs this is not a requirement just thought it would pass the time a bit!
  • Olive oil seemed fine to use

Outcome
I think the first stretching bit went ok, but not sure about the U shaped movement as my thumbs were at a pointing together angle rather than a bit more parallel as per the picture. I can feel I've done it, not pain just a slight sting. Despite starting off hoping I could just do this myself I think I will ask DP to do this for me as if I'm going to bother I think I'd prefer too think the angle was right to achieve the best result we can.

Good luck ladies!

Teaspoon74 · 30/03/2017 11:41

Thanks wish - what a thought!!

Badger enjoy!! Jealous of you getting a sunny day off. Am saving my annual leave to use at the end of mat leave, but as the weather improves and my energy levels decrease I'm increasingly jealous of those with the odd day off!!

Newbie & Rise true Blush

savagehk · 30/03/2017 11:54

dream I'll be using the Archers trick - thanks for the idea Grin

EsmesBees · 30/03/2017 12:14

Well done dream! Good reporting there. I think I did mine last time sitting on the loo.

I've just counted up and I've still got 6 wks of work to go!! Most of you will have had your babies by the time I'm out of here. But I will be taking a few days of leave here and there to try and get things a bit ready. Going to be (even more) knackered by the end though.

Commuters on the Victoria Line must be nicer than the average. I've not no issues at all this time. Generally people spring up as soon as I ask for the seat.

1004Rise · 30/03/2017 12:28

Well done @dreamofhungarianlanterns I particularly like the archers tip!! Grin Still not convinced about asking DH to do it, he would but I think it's a step too far for me Blush

I realised that at the end of this week I get to turn the calendar over and I can see my last day.... both grateful and shocked that it's coming soon !! With Easter and time off for my cousin's wedding (no idea what I'm going to wear) I'll only have 15 working days left Shock

Sipperskipper · 30/03/2017 12:32

dream I am loving that feedback!
