Hey all. I've been a bit quiet, but lurking in the background! Has anyone else experienced the same thing as me:
I started feeling the baby move around 16 weeks, but in the last few days (now 17+6) I have felt almost nothing? I'm a bit worried that all is not well...

Also I don't feel 'beautiful' or 'glowing' like I apparently should do - I feel bloated and flabby, and I really hate that my clothes don't fit :(

Fluffywallow · 03/04/2017 12:38

Warwick if you're worried why don't you give your midwife a call? I went in to hospital a number of time for monitoring last time and they always always always said they'd rather check than not.

I've had mixed levels of movements so similar to you - some days I feel it way more than others, but I'm putting it down to the kicks not being strong just yet. I had a scan on Friday and all was well so not overly concerned.

WarwickAlice · 03/04/2017 12:41

Thanks Fluffy. I might ring her today - I've been mulling it over for a while and I suppose there's no harm in asking! It's good to hear you have experienced much the same thing. I haven't got my scan for another couple of weeks yet, and that feels like a very long time to wait.

Lules · 03/04/2017 12:41

I think it's really common to not feel them move consistently at this stage because they're still so small. After feeling it move for the first time last week I then didn't feel it again for days. But you could always ring your midwife.

SuziePink · 03/04/2017 13:06

WarwickAlice as for the 'glowing' bollocks that people thrust upon pregnant women... you feel how you feel and that's it!

oliversmummy26 · 03/04/2017 14:59

Warrick I've been feeling flutters for a couple of weeks now (am 17+1 today) and did notice at the weekend that I didn't feel quite so much. I think it's because I was busy, as the movements are so tiny and not at all regular, they are very easy to miss or mistake for wind/gas.. Might this apply to you too?

oliversmummy26 · 03/04/2017 15:01

Oh also anyone else been told at 16 week mw appointment that they don't need to see mw again until 28 weeks - this seems like a very long time! I know it's because this is a second baby, but I think I might go and see her at about 24 weeks to break up the long wait between 20 week scan and 28 week appointment. I'm also worried that baby is going to be large like his big brother, and I think they will check the fundal height from 23ish weeks?

Fluffywallow · 03/04/2017 15:14

I was told I wouldn't see a midwife until 28 weeks too but as I'm seeing my consultant I wasn't too worried. My consultant has since told me to cancel the midwife appt so it'll be ages before I see her...but like you I might book one as not sure where to get my MATB1 otherwise? My midwife did say to me you can book to see them anytime so I would go for it Olivers especially since you had growth concerns.

Lules · 03/04/2017 15:34

I have no idea where you get the MAT1b form as I don't have a midwife appointment between 16 weeks and 28 weeks as it's not my first baby. I'll ask when I have my 16 week one. I might have consultant appointments but I don't know about that yet.

Travelgeek · 03/04/2017 17:18

I'm 17+3 today too and have put on 5lbs overall. I lost 3lbs in the first few weeks though so I guess I've gained 8lbs since. I was overweight to begin with though so shouldn't put on as much as you slim ladies.

I asked my midwife at the last appointment if there was a guideline for weight gain now I'm in the 2nd trimester and she said they won't even weigh me at all. Just do my best to eat well and take regular gentle exercise.

I'm well and truely in maternity clothes now though! My jojo mamn bebe order arrived at the weekend and their blue spotty tunic dress has been so comfy at work today.

I really should pick a date to go on mat leave then I can count down the weeks too! Full week in this week but then two 2day weeks!

EssentialHummus · 03/04/2017 17:25

Still putting off mat clothes here - I bought a "belly belt" (bit of elastic with buttons on) which is keeping me in my comfy jeans, and my tops still fit. Need a new bra though Blush.

londonfeather · 03/04/2017 18:17

I don't have scales to weigh myself but intrigued to know what I weigh now. I've never been so hungry in my life!

Frillyhorseyknickers · 03/04/2017 18:25

Evening all - thanks for the positive vibes - I must have worked myself up over the weekend because as soon as I got into the office I sunk into my work happy as Larry.

warwick also robbed of my glow. I feel like I've put a lot on although I know it's mostly in my head. Obviously now I'm not riding and I've only got the dogs to keep me exercising I'm feeling a bit lazy. Haven't been in the gym since Feb due to my back - I don't think they'd be much point trying to get into a gym routine now anyway?

OP posts:
SuziePink · 03/04/2017 18:36

Frilly yes there's definitely a point to getting into a gym routine! Maybe under the watchful eye of someone who knows what they're doing so you don't make your back worse.

LouLou030783 · 03/04/2017 18:46

Olivers here they don't measure ur fundal height until 28 weeks I'm just 15 week but Won't see midwife until 17 weeks due to going on holiday after that it is when I'm 22 weeks then 28 and this is baby 4 16-28 does seem a long wait even with scan in between

WarwickAlice · 03/04/2017 20:03

Hi everyone- thanks for your kind messages. olivers yes, you might be right, I have been really busy this week! I took half a day off work today because just feeling so exhausted and weary. Feel a bit better, and I'm already in bed, heading for a very early night!! Xx

SpringSpringSpring · 03/04/2017 20:22

On clothes, I've got to an inbetween point that trousers are too tight while skirts are mostly ok. I got some mat jeans last week and they are comfy but slip down so I'm not going to wear them outside the house until I have enough bump to hold them up!

I need to work out how to get the mat1 form too, I won't see the midwife again until week 24 though

SuziePink · 03/04/2017 20:33

I've gone pretty much full maternity gear as it's more comfy at the moment, plus I managed to rip 2 pairs of my normal jeans in 2 days which wasn't even bump related, just very clumsy!

flymo79 · 04/04/2017 00:11

Just feeling flabby! I'm a bit fed up tbh...

Fluffywallow · 04/04/2017 07:22

Yes flymo I'm with you there! It's not a great feeling. I'm going to try and pick up a few maternity bits at lunch today as I'm mostly wearing old stuff from my last pregnancy which has seen better days.

It's all silly really as I know it's just pregnancy and this is how I do it - I'm never going to be one of those people who hardly put any weight on.

If it's any consolation I think all pregnant people look fantastic (just not myself Wink)!

Here's a bump pic update at 17+4 - not a great photo but it is what it is!!

The horrible in between stage of just feeling flabby is horrible

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 04/04/2017 09:15

Morning ladies. I'm seeing my midwife on Thursday for my 16 week appointment, then not due to see her until 28 weeks. Will try and remember to ask her about matb1 certificate. I'd forgotten that you're supposed to give it to work by 25 weeks. For some reason I had it in my head that I needed to give it to hr by 29 weeks. I'll ask some of the other pregnant women at work how they've sorted it.

I went back to work last night after nearly a week off sick with bad headaches / migraine. Only a 4hr shift and I really struggled. I came home and cried my eyes out. A few colleagues asked me why I didn't take longer off. I might have done if I'd managed to get a gp appointment

SuziePink · 04/04/2017 13:32

@ColdFeetWarmHeart some GPs will give you a retrospective certificate if you're unable to see them before you need a new one.

Fluffywallow · 04/04/2017 15:10

Oh cold maybe take some more time off if you can? It's not worth feeling so awful for.

sherbertlemon17 · 04/04/2017 16:04

Damn! You lot just reminded me that I forgot to ask my midwife about Mat1b at my 16 week appointment today!! Such a doughnut!
Midwife is pretty good though so I'll send her a text in a few weeks to ask...

Cold how are you feeling today? Definitely mention it to your midwife on Thursday.
