Oh Cali my first was torture second over in 1hr 40 quick no pain relief great labour no 3 was a diff story 9 hour established labour fetal hr monitor had been consented for theatre when I managed to deliver

calimommy · 31/03/2017 14:34

loulou don't say that!!! I'm hoping for a fast and furious number 3 out in no time! 😭 I even had a little fantasy where baby came so quickly I was in the shower (or somewhere equally practical😝) and we were right as rain and having a cuddle by the time we got to hospital... I didn't get pain relief w my second and even I was glad to do it that way, I do remember saying to the midwife afterwards that I might get the epidural for the next labour haha I'd say she was like 'one baby at a time love' hahaha

calimommy · 31/03/2017 14:35

*even though

LouLou030783 · 31/03/2017 15:16

The midwife did tell me ur 3rd is either one of 2 ways fast and furious or like mine, my friends 3rd was 40 mins

SayItIsntSo1 · 31/03/2017 20:58

Hello, just catching up. This thread is so busy I'm struggling to remember what has been said!

I haven't even thought about delivery/labour. I'm still struggling to see past the next week! I was adamant with my last pregnancy (the MC one) that I'd be requesting a section after an emotionally traumatic time with dd's birth. Now after what we've been through I think I might be willing to try labour again. The pain has never been what bothered me, it's the uncertainty of how things may go and horror at my lady bits potentially needing deconstructing to get the baby out Confused. Not something that's easy to avoid when having a baby!

Not sure I will watch OBEM this time. I enjoy it but couldn't get in to the last series.

I have stupidly arranged play dates both days this weekend for dd. Hoping my tiredness stays at bay, it does seem to be getting better so that's something.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

WhiteLily86 · 31/03/2017 22:22

I had bad headaches last weekend, bedridden with them, like a very bad hangover that lasted a few days.

Turns out I was dehydrated, past the point when I even felt thirsty. Currently drinking loads and they haven't come back. A litre before bed, then wake up thirsty for a drink in the night, then drink again when I wake. Crazy amounts. Midwife said very common just keep getting fluids in me.

17+4 no kicks/movement yet.

Fluffywallow · 01/04/2017 06:33

My sister had a lengthy first labour and then her second was an unexpected home birth, flew out like a bar of soap in under an hour - all ok and they didn't even have to go to hospital. The variations on birth are incredible - it really is one of life's unpredictable events!

Had a scan yesterday and we're having a little girl SmileDD is too young to understand yet but I am excited for her - I hope they grow up really good friends. I'm so thrilled we found out (we didn't with DD), it felt very special and it's lovely to know what I'm growing! I was worried dh might be sad to not have a boy but he seems fine and very happy so I just have to stop that concern I guess. All being well this is our completed family Smile

LouLou030783 · 01/04/2017 07:03

Aww that's lovely fluffy x how old is dd

LouLou030783 · 01/04/2017 07:25

White lily defo keep ur fluid levels up bad enough being pregnant without added extras lol

Hope the play dates go ok say

Fluffywallow · 01/04/2017 07:34

She's 2.5yrs Lou - understands there's a baby but doesn't get the boy/girl thing yet!

White hope you manage to keep the headaches at bay. Sounds like the extra fluids are doing the job.

17+1 today.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 01/04/2017 10:26

white that's what I've been like lately. The headaches have floored me this week. I haven't been able to do anything. I've had plenty to drink this week, about 3 litres a day (I honestly feel if I drink anymore I will feel sick!) But perhaps I wasn't drinking enough before. Doesn't help when you've gone off tea and other hot drinks. I still haven't managed to get hold of my midwife or see my gp yet Hmm
So glad you're feeling better white

Lovely to hear you're having another girl fluffy ' hopefully your girls will be close as there is only a 3yr age gap. Though I'm close with my sister and there's 12 years between us!! Part of me wants a girl so that my DD has a sister. But then I think boy or girl she's going to mother the baby to death lol

SuziePink · 02/04/2017 12:47

I've started getting a bit dizzy when I get up and don't really feel all that hungry, I start feeling shaky before my belly starts rumbling. I've been feeling flutters since about 15-16 weeks (am now 17+3) but no definite kicks yet. Still haven't had my latest check up with the rather disorganised midwives in Sheffield... I'm going to transfer my care down to where my parents are after my next scan as it's just another source of stress I don't need!

Definitely starting to look thicker round the middle but look more like I've had a big meal than pregnant! Hopefully it'll become more obvious soon.

sherbertlemon17 · 02/04/2017 16:35

Snap Suzie! I keep having to remind myself to eat because I got all sicky and shakey. DH keeps trying to remind me to eat little and often but it's hard to remember when you don't actually feel hungry and then BAM... it's too late.Confused

Congrats on your girl Fluffy

SuziePink · 02/04/2017 18:07

I also can't really eat all that much in one go! Someone must be taking up some of the space...

I do have a quite a thirst though! Cannot get enough water at the moment.

Also, H&M have got some maternity stuff in the sale and another shop did as well, might have been mothercare. Tesco has some maternity swimwear that looked ok. You can get a tankini for £16 I'm really surprised that no M&S I've been in has anything and there's very little online.

Fluffywallow · 03/04/2017 06:42

Another one here who needs to eat regularly or I get sick...but if I eat too much at once I feel dreadful. It's a fine line!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I have absolutely zero desire to go to work today....bring on maternity leave! Only 19 weeks to go Grin.

Had a great weekend, I'm so pleased I have more energy again, and the sickness has mostly gone. It's only once it all passes that you realise just how awful it was.

Can I ask a nosy question about weight gain? I'm about 10lb up at 17+3, what's everyone else put on? I'm so conscious of it after putting on 4 stone with my DD Confused

Frillyhorseyknickers · 03/04/2017 07:11

Felt my first real flutter yesterday at 15 weeks ❤ at least I think that's what it was!

Did my last competition at Belton horse trials yesterday and I've now officially stopped riding until after the birth 😢 Luckily have amazing friends who have taken on the ride of my horses over the summer, two are going to have a holiday in the field.

Four day week for me, I'm really down about work at the moment and it's getting difficult to keep it to myself as my boss has asked.

OP posts:
SayItIsntSo1 · 03/04/2017 08:00

Fluffy I have put on 7lbs and am 15wks. I put on 3-3.5st with dd and it took me forever to lose the last 14lbs. I think that was mostly extra I didn't need to put on, would love to keep it closer to 2.5st this pregnancy but I intend it to be my last so won't go too hard on denying myself Blush

Sorry to hear you're having a rubbish time at work Frilly. I'm not feeling it at the minute either and I know I'll most likely be going back to a different job/project. I want to stay interested for my team, but is also like to just ditch it now! My boss is being supportive but it feels superficially so. Can't quite put my finger on why.

Lules · 03/04/2017 08:06

I've only put on 1 kg and I'm 15 weeks but that's because of being sick and not really eating at all for a few weeks. Last time I put on 20kg which was a lot but I lost that fairly easily if slowly so I'm not that fussed. Sorry I don't know what that is in lbs.

LouLou030783 · 03/04/2017 08:14

Aww frilly how long is he expecting u too keep quiet

I've not actually put any weight on yet 😮😮😮 very shocked bout that as this time with ds2 I was already huge a pic came up on my fb from last year and I thought my god how did i not realise how huge I was

MrsY87 · 03/04/2017 08:27

I've put on around 8lbs and am 17+3 but it does seem to fluctuate a bit. it seems like quite a lot though given that I only put on about 20lbs with my DD in total, although she did arrive 5 weeks early so I didn't have the last few weeks of rapid growth and weight gain plus I lost my appetite completely last time whereas this time I cannot stop eating! Grin
Is everyone now in their maternity clothes? I think I need to bite the bullet and start wearing mine, I just feel I'm still at that in between stage where maternity clothes are too big yet my normal clothes are now becoming a bit uncomfortable.

Frilly sorry your finding work difficult, has your boss said why he (assuming your boss is male!) has asked you to keep it to yourself? Surely it will start becoming obvious soon he needs to deal with the reason pretty quickly. Plus it's not fair on you as it's your news and you should be able to share it if you want to! Hope this week goes quickly for you.

I hate my job too, I nearly resigned prior to Christmas (good job I didn't now) but I'm really unsure if I want to go back after mat leave. Luckily my unsupportive boss (female with two children!) is on holiday for the next two weeks. Smile

SuziePink · 03/04/2017 09:51

I lost about 3kg in the first trimester because I was stressed and went off loads of food. The last few times I've weighed myself my weight has stabilised but I'm yet to put any on despite starting to get a bump. I'm certainly not eating any more than usual! I'm happy with that at the moment because I've read that it's only the third trimester that you need extra calories, which I'm actually pleased about because I don't feel like I could eat anything extra at the moment!

Fluffywallow · 03/04/2017 09:54

Oh cripes, I need to lay off the carbs by the sounds of things!!

I did loose the 4 stone within about 18 months of having my DD but then put about a stone of it back on before getting pregnant this time. So I've started off heavier than I'd like.....hey ho like you sayit this is my last pregnancy, all being well, so I'm not going to panic too much.

oliversmummy26 · 03/04/2017 10:33

I haven't weighed myself since about 13 weeks I think, I'd put on about 3lbs then. I'm trying to avoid the scales! I put on about 2.5 stone with DS, but lost that and more within about 3 months of birth. I put that down to breastfeeding and getting out of the house for an hour long walk with the pushchair almost every day. 3 months post birth is the first and only time I've managed to get into a size 10 pair of jeans (no stretch!) So really hoping the same happens this time, although it all went back on once I stopped breastfeeding at a year old and started off about 2 stone heavier than I was when I got pregnant with DS so who knows!

Not too bothered about how much weight I put on this time though, I don't think I'm being silly with food, I can't eat too much at the moment anyway without feeling sick!

Had a gorgeous weekend with DH (DS with his dad this weekend) we stayed home but it felt like a holiday, lots of eating out and beach walks...I'm definitely getting my energy back during the day, but am still cream crackered by about 8.30pm!

Only one day of work this week then off until next Tuesday, can't wait to have some proper time away from the office!

17+1 today

SuziePink · 03/04/2017 11:14

Obviously everyone is different and there aren't any "wrong" things unless it affects your or the baby's health but I wanted to post the information I found as I was worried I wasn't putting any weight on at all. It can be found here and here.

The NHS recommends eating the same number of calories as you normally would in the first and second trimesters and eating an additional 200 calories in the third trimester, then an additional 330 calories (but not 530 extra calories!) when breastfeeding. There are no real weight gain guidelines in the UK but women who are of "normal" BMI can expect to gain 0.8 and 1 lb weekly in the second and third trimester respectively, "overweight" BMI 0.5 and 0.7 lb, and "obese" 0.4 and 0.6 lb.

My BMI is 26ish so I felt reassured to know that I wouldn't notice a difference on the scales just yet. I tend to lose weight when I'm stressed as I lose my appetite and wanted to monitor it as the midwives are not.

EssentialHummus · 03/04/2017 11:26

18 weeks here. Haven't weighed myself for ages, but I know I lost 3(ish) kgs in the first trimester, then started gaining. I basically lost most of my appetite in the first trimester, and unlike pre-pregnancy I wasn't craving crisps (which I usually eat a lot Blush). Now I'm eating more including crisps but in smaller portions as I get full quickly.

Had a consultant appointment last week as I'm hypothyroid. All in hand, but I'll have extra scans later on to check that everything's measuring up correctly. My local hospital and midwives have been really great so far.
