Hello, lost you all for a while and wondered why everyone was being so quiet Grin!

All good here. Started NHS antenatal classes yesterday and really learnt loads, and DH was getting very involved and asking lots of questions, which I loved seeing.

WhiteLily86 · 16/06/2017 15:47

Grumpy glad it isn't just me on the nesting! It is getting out of control....! I thought that came just a week or two before the birth.

Looking forward to antenatal, still feel like I know nothing about babies and one will be here pretty soon.

GrumpySusan · 16/06/2017 21:43

It keeps coming in little bursts, I mainly just shop online or unfold/refold her clothes Blush
I've just looked into antenatal, there's a 2hr class at my hospital but that seems about it..

SayItIsntSo1 · 17/06/2017 19:58

Lost you all for a while.

How is everyone coping in the heat today? I am not looking forward to bed tonight. DD is fighting sleep again as she has been all week. We've done everything to tire her out and she's knackered but still rolling around her bed and due to start the 'thirsty'/ 'I need a wee' requests x1000 soon Hmm

Lunch out tomorrow and then a drive away for work for a couple of days in the evening. It's my last stint on a 6 month long course- cannot wait for it to be over!

We sorted my maternity cover last week at work and I'm hoping we can start handover in July. I have a vision of me laying around the house 'on call' the last few weeks before my leave starts. Probably wishful thinking! Grin

Lules · 18/06/2017 14:36

I'm actually not finding the heat too bad. I had constant nightmares last night though. Anyone else have very vivid dreams?

Haven't prepared anything yet but we have all the stuff from the last time. We're moving house early Aug too (hopefully) so there's not really much point before then.

WhatwouldRuthdo · 18/06/2017 18:18

I'm definitely feeling the heat. 30 weeks today and really quite big. Not looking forward to the train/tube this week! Glad the antenatal classes are proving useful. Is anyone doing NCT? We did the classes with previous pregnancy and didn't gel with the group, but know lots of people make firm friends

WhatwouldRuthdo · 18/06/2017 18:20

And yes to very vivid dreams Lules. I was furious at DH the other morning as I'd clearly dreamt he'd attended a whole string of glamorous parties and left me at home with the children. Took me a few hours to forgive the poor man

MrsY87 · 18/06/2017 19:04

I've been having some very vivid dreams and quite scary at times too lules and ruth

I've done a hypnobirthing course this time, it wasn't as hippyish as the name sounds! The other two couples on it seemed really nice and we've planned to meet up once on maternity leave, will be nice to know some other local mummies having babies at a similar time.

We're on holiday at the moment and it's hot but I've not found it too bad at all, however I'm sure once we are back on wed and I have to dress for work rather than just spending the day in my bikini that will change!

londonfeather · 18/06/2017 22:10

I've been loving the heat - though I've been off work... not sure I'm going to love it so much tomorrow at work!

EssentialHummus · 18/06/2017 22:16

what I've ended up signed up for both NHS and NCT classes- midwife said going to both would confuse me which just made me more curious! Will see how they go.

I ended up in hospital briefly today as I couldn't feel LO moving as usual. All was fine and they saw me very promptly and didn't make me feel like a timewaster.

28+6 and not enjoying the heat at all. I wfh but have to venture into central London tmrw and dreading it.

SpringtoSummer · 19/06/2017 08:14

I've been loving the warm weather and went swimming in the sea for the first time this year which was cold but nice to feel weightless.
I've signed up for NCT but if I'd realised before how much the local hospital had offered might have done those instead. Am curious about the NHS hypnobirthing class and can't decide whether to do it too it if its too much (time & money as that's the only class that's not free here)

GrumpySusan · 19/06/2017 08:50

I'm going to pop to the library today to see if they have any good books on birth. It's one thing I still feel pretty clueless about, though I have picked a hospital that has lots of pools.
I've looked at previous threads on here for book recommendations but ended up more confused!
Vivid dreams have calmed downpour me (for now!) but I'm another struggling with the heat. Need to do supermarket shopping today but have been instructed to tale it easy after a funny turn yesterday.. Glad all was OK Hummus!

WhatwouldRuthdo · 19/06/2017 08:50

Glad all is well Essential, that must have been a worrying few hours.

EssentialHummus · 19/06/2017 09:22

Thanks susan and what - very worrying, but the hospital staff (Lewisham) were really good.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 19/06/2017 10:06

Glad you're OK essential

I haven't been on here for ages for one reason or another. I think I need to come on here more often though. I've been off sick and pretty much housebound since the beginning of May!! Bloody SPD. It's starting to get to me. I'm not missing work but I'm missing adult company. It doesn't help that DH seems to be finishing work later and later Sad. Most of the time it's just me and 4yr old DD, who I love to bits but she does jabber a lot of rubbish!! Today it's just me and the dog as DD is at preschool.

grumpy I too am flitting between grumpiness and crying my eyes out. It's doing my head in. I just want to get back to normal!!

Been having very vivid nightmares too. Vivid dreams aren't unusual for me but nightmares are, thankfully. I'm talking very disturbing serial killer dreams!! Takes me ages to get back to sleep after, normally huddled as close as possible to DH.

I'm not doing any antenatal classes. Didn't last time either. Local NHS don't offer classes due to shortages of midwives / funding issues. I didn't go to classes in my last pregnancy either as by the time my midwife confirmed her team weren't offering them, all the NCT ones were fully booked.

Lules · 19/06/2017 12:54

Poor you coldfeet.

I'm currently in hospital as I fainted while I was walking past it, just because it's so hot I think. They've put me on a drip and injected me with some wonderful drugs which have actually stopped me feeling sick. I wanted to go paddling with my toddler today :-(

EssentialHummus · 19/06/2017 13:04

lules Flowers this heat is terrible.

oliversmummy26 · 19/06/2017 14:36

I'm sure I've felt close to fainting due to the heat Lules glad you're in the right place and they're looking after you..

Not doing classes this time, as I didn't get much from it last time and DH isn't really one for group question and answer sessions! I'm going to do lots of mum and baby groups once baby is here instead and make some mummy friends that way.

Dreamt I had twins last night, possibly because I look so bloody enormous at only 28 weeks! But our boy popped out first, then they brought out a girl like it was the most natural thing in the world! DS was over the moon, he's desperate for a sister, but alas, this will be our last and it's definitely a boy..he keeps asking if there will be a little sister in my tummy later!

Lules · 19/06/2017 17:44

I did the NHS antenatal classes last time and found them very useful. Definitely do a tour of the unit if they do them.

I'm back home feeling very sorry for myself. Fainted on the way home again (it's only a short walk) but couldn't face going back to hospital so my husband sort of half carried me.

Toddler is crotchety after being cooped up in hospital all day. Husband is crotchety after trying to keep him occupied and worrying about me. Let's hope tomorrow is a better day.

WhatwouldRuthdo · 19/06/2017 17:54

I'm sorry you are feeling so rough Lules. It puts my moaning about being fat and hot in perspective. I stuck the paddling pool under the parasol today and got DS to pour water over my feet which was very nice. The same will not be said of tomorrow's commute...

Olivers my DS was desperate for a sister too- he's the reason we found out the gender and was not best impressed when we told him it was a boy. This baby is also definitely the last, much to his annoyance.

Travelgeek · 19/06/2017 20:51

Hi ladies! I dropped off here for a while though have been on the facebook group.

Cake to lules and cold, both rubbish situations.

Not much to report here. Growing ever bigger and generally doing ok apart from a bit more tired and achy feet than usual.

Had to leave DH to stripping wallpaper at the weekend as it was too hot with the steamer on but I did recover the dining chairs and start painting the welsh dresser instead! Don't know if its nesting or feeling the looming deadline of due date rapidly approaching with a still unfinished house.

I've had a tour of the birth centre, but need to go back with DH and also have tour of the hospital in case I end up transfered there. We don't start our nhs antenatal classes until August!

oliversmummy26 · 20/06/2017 15:34

I've posted on the FB page, but thought would add here too, had a call from the hospital this morning to confirm that I do have gestational diabetes..

Just wondering if anyone else does too? I'm also back to thinking about birth and as I wanted an ELCS anyway I'm guessing that as I now have GD I'm more likely to get one than VBAC as they won't let me go overdue..?

Lules · 21/06/2017 09:15

Sorry I don't know about the GD olivers. Presumably they are referring you so you'll be able to ask then?

RealBabyFoodBaby · 21/06/2017 10:13

Hi,
Hope I'm okay to join in! I'm due with DD2 on 20.09.17 (first was a summer '13 baby) and having taken the day off work due to heat exhaustion I thought I might take a look on here...

StarWish1 · 21/06/2017 11:20

Welcome RealBaby
Olivers I don't know about GD I'm afraid but would you mind telling me about why you want an ELCS? I think I remember reading that you've had a CS before? Was this a positive experience? Sorry, being super nosey because I've been told that an ELCS is an option for me and I don't know what to do? Natural or CS?? I'm rubbish at making decisions at the best of times and now the hospital has given me a massive decision to make! I won't be offended if you don't want to answer though, I know this is a very personal topic!
Comments / experience from anyone else welcome too Smile
