Anyone else getting leg cramps in the night? This seems to have just started... calf cramp is not fun to wake up to!

fluffywallow · 10/06/2017 09:49

London I don't get them at night but get them a few times during the day - another pregnancy joy!

Officially third trimester - whoop whoop!

grainmum · 10/06/2017 09:57

I'm finally going to tentatively join in after months of lurking. 27 weeks today, due date 9th September but likely to be delivered in August. 2nd baby.

I had leg cramps pretty frequently in previous pregnancy. Had them once this time. However for other reasons I am monitoring my fluid intake and getting to 2.5l daily, and not having leg cramps. Using the hydrocoach app to make sure I actually achieve this. It might be coincidence but I definitely don't miss the sudden jumping out of bed hopping around in the middle of the night.

WhiteLily86 · 10/06/2017 10:56

Welcome grain!

Yes leg cramps - was most nights and only in lower legs. Asked the midwife about this weeks ago. She said it is because I am drinking so much more fluids (very true, can't seem to stop drinking, thirsty the whole time!), I am massively diluting the salts in my body.

So surprisingly, i am actually adding salt to my food, which I don't normally do, and it has definitely made a difference!

A bag of salt and vinegar crisps doesn't do any harm either Wink

DontBeBlueBeARainbow · 10/06/2017 15:09

London, yes most nights during the last week or so. Not fun! But also not the worst side effect I suppose.

28 weeks today and dreading my next appointment and lecture on my weight from the doctor (different country/system). I'm minded to refuse to get on the scales, although I know it'll cause a stir...

londonfeather · 10/06/2017 15:55

Well any excuse for some salt and vinegar crisps I'm happy with.. No not the worst side effect and I've been pretty lucky on the whole but it's not my favourite way to be woken up at 5am!

Welcome Grain!

Hope everyone is out enjoying the sunshine!

NutCase82 · 10/06/2017 19:45

London I got them once, so so painful and had the after pain for a day or so afterwards too in one leg!! Ouch!! Midwife said drink tonic water, apparently there's something in it that helps stop the cramping!

calimommy · 10/06/2017 21:08

dontbeblue I'm the same! Sick of the minute scrutiny of my weight. Half time time I thinks it's because I'm constipated 😂😂 perhaps wishful thinking.. I'm thinking of changing doctors 😬 I really haven't hit it off with mine. I loved my old doctor (a different country) so there could be a bit of that but also I feellike she doesn't actually listen to what I say. E.g. She asked me how I was and I said I was extremely fatigued and had no appetite at all although could eat if I forced myself. She just shrugged and said, well you still put on 5 lbs so your ok. I didn't bother arguing, but my point was that I'm not getting any exercise because I feel terrible. Anyho, is it very late to switch?? I'm 27+ weeks. Due 8 sept. I haven't even visited the hospital here yet 😬

londonfeather · 11/06/2017 14:15

Omg! Has anyone tried to paint their toenails recently? Could hardly do it! Ha... bending down towards the baby just made it kick frantically! Ha

StarWish1 · 11/06/2017 18:49

Yep London I'm struggling to do up my sandals. My bump isn't much of a kicker. I get rolls, flutters and light kicks but strong kicks maybe only once a day. Everyone talks about how they have 'football players' inside there and being 'beaten up' yet I can't really say mine's like that at all. Does anyone else have light kicks and more flutters than strong movements?
I'm in hayfever hell this weekend Sad

calimommy · 12/06/2017 05:01

star mines more of a swisher and heavy flutters, sometimes I feel like he's twiddling his fingers around my pelvis, but not so much kicking. He's much quieter than my last baby who belted me Day and night and who is still a bit mental 😂 DH thinks it's no harm this one is quieter.

oliversmummy26 · 12/06/2017 11:25

London I've booked myself in for a gel pedicure and manicure this weekend for exactly this reason - DH refuses to do it for me and don't trust my almost 5 year old, though he'd love to try!

I'm getting mostly lighter kicks and nudges, every now and then I get a really big shove which makes me jump but that's very rare. I get lots of slow rolls, which are uncomfortable and make me feel sick, and baby feels very low down most of the time, also uncomfortable! Was getting kicks right on my belly button last night which wasn't pleasant!

oliversmummy26 · 12/06/2017 11:28

Oh and DH was funny on Saturday night, he'd been in the pub most of the evening and were settling down to DTD...when I lay down in bed it was like he'd seen my bump for the first time. He got all overwhelmed and I think it's finally hit him that we're having a baby!

Obviously he's known since January, but being a man has been able to put it from my mind and tell himself I'm just putting on weight. He's probably only felt him kick a handful of times and nothing has changed for him at all. He just kept stroking my bump and looked like he might cry...it was rather lovely...didn't get round to DTD though, I think it put him off a little! Confused

StarWish1 · 12/06/2017 14:53

Ha Olivers men are funny. Glad to hear that others are having a variety of movements too and that its normal not to have big kicks all the time.

calimommy · 12/06/2017 16:02

With my first DH claims he got a kick while we were DTD, through the tummy I might add, not else where 😂 and it's made him funny about it ever since. It's so awkward though, once you get big 🙄

GrumpySusan · 13/06/2017 16:34

Hello, just quietly de-lurking! I'm due 19th September and it's first DC. Nice to read about others at a similar stage in pregnancy, I don't know any other pregnant ladies so sometimes feel a bit lonely Blush

Frillyhorseyknickers · 13/06/2017 17:43

grumpysusan I'm the same - my life is completely child free at the moment. I've joined the fb group and I find it reassuring especially bump photos as I'm constantly being told how massive I am ( 😢 ) and it reassures me I'm not growing some super sized little person.

Have you started buying anything yet? I still need to buy all my larger items!

GrumpySusan · 13/06/2017 18:20

Yes mine too- it's a bit strange being the 'first' of my friends but I'm hoping others aren't far behind me!
We have bought stuff but it did feel bit early (about 23w). Got pram, cot, mattress and car seat as well as a few bits of bedding. It was daft not to as they had 20% off and you never know when offers will run again!
I'll look into joining the fb group, that does sound reassuring.
I'm sure you're not growing a supersize person! I have just 'popped' and feeling similar though. That and I've gained quite a bit more than I thought I would have at this stage...
I think you're same due date as me frilly?

piraterach · 13/06/2017 20:03

Hi everyone. I was originally on the October baby bus as our original due date was 29th September (felt really behind at the beginning so joined October instead). Now we've been moved to 19th September feel a bit wrong being in that group so thought I'd say hi Grin. How do I go about joining the Fb group? I find it so much easier to keep up on there.

Lules · 13/06/2017 21:01

Welcome!

Ah my ILs have gone home (been over for a few days). They are lovely people and think they're being really helpful but it's a faff and I am very grumpy atm. Did just about manage to restrain myself when they said it was nice I wasn't being sick anymore.

Nothing else new really. I need to get another MAT1b form because HR said the doctor's handwriting wasn't clear enough. Sigh.

calimommy · 13/06/2017 21:32

Hey ladies not sure if either of you were the one I just added but you can email me [email protected] to join the fb group

londonfeather · 14/06/2017 11:46

I just went for my 28 week check up and have been booked for an emergency scan on Friday and a number of extra scans throughout the rest of my pregnancy as I had a low bmi rate (19 so in the correct weight range) at booking and I'm measuring small which is a bit worrying. I'm glad they are taking precautions but no one up to now has mentioned that my booking height and weight would be cause for extra scans.

WhiteLily86 · 14/06/2017 17:18

London, try not to worry at least they are checking baby out and best for them to be cautious Cake x

Lules · 15/06/2017 08:30

I'm sure they're being over cautious. I think it's probably that you now tick a couple of risk boxes so you go down that pathway. So it's a faff but you get more scans and reassurance which is nice.

GrumpySusan · 15/06/2017 18:37

I hear you on the grumpiness Lules I'm flitting between that and tearful, with the odd bit of productivity/nesting!
Really struggling with back pain so went to aquanatal today. It was OK but don't think it especially helped, though felt nice to be weightless. Might have to look into yoga..
