I think I've narrowed it down to a handful of car seats but we really need to organise a time to go test them and make sure they fit. On the one hand, September feels so far away and I'm working til end of August so it doesn't feel like mat leave is round the corner at all! On the other hand my bump had a massive growth spurt over the weekend and I'm feeling like it's going to fly by!

littlebeanandme · 06/06/2017 16:03

Hi all,
First post here, I'm due 1st baby on 18th September, so excited!
Bought the pram today :D slightly concerned that its a bit early, but it's the one we wanted, 2nd hand but really good condition

QuestionARhino · 06/06/2017 16:11

@littlebeanandme congratulations very exciting! We probably bought ours 2-3 months ago Blush but when you find a bargain you've just gotta go for it! What did you buy?

littlebeanandme · 06/06/2017 17:18

We got the cosatto giggle with the tree pattern, we're not finding out the sex, so thought that print was super cute for either a boy or girl

QuestionARhino · 06/06/2017 17:20

@littlebeanandme Ah very nice! I do like the tree print! We're also not finding the sex so ours is very plain, means we can reuse if we have another one in the next couple of years!

ememem84 · 06/06/2017 22:10

We bought our pram today. Mamas and papas armadillo flip. Dh chose blue as ours is a boy! Yay

StarWish1 · 07/06/2017 10:30

I've considered the Armadillo. Do you mind me asking where you bought it from Ememem? Direct from Mamas and Papas or did you find a deal somewhere else?

QuestionARhino · 07/06/2017 14:18

Anyone suffering with pubic bone pain and have any suggestions? Recently started and I feel absolutely fine when I'm sat down but when I stand up I have to hobble around for a while til it eases off. I feel like I'm nearly at waddle stage already but I don't feel big enough to be waddling!!

calimommy · 07/06/2017 15:04

question try to keep your knees together, for instance when your getting into a car don't do it the usual way of one foot in and the the next. Put your bum in first, then keeping your knees together, swing your feet in. Seeing a Physio is a good idea for more tips.

We have a Facebook group as well if you'd like to join, email myself at [email protected]
There are a few other girls who can help you too if I'm slow responding👍

fluffywallow · 07/06/2017 18:33

Question I've been getting that too and as Cali says keeping knees together helps, I found it was putting trousers on that set it off and that's because I twist my leg out to get them on - since focusing on keeping knees together it's not been so bad. I'm just hoping it doesn't get any worse!

Travelgeek · 07/06/2017 18:36

Evening ladies. Hello to those who've just found us. [waves] dropped off the thread in the past couple of weeks but have caught up and been following the fb group. Back from a lovely week's holiday in Barcelona and have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how nice everyone was towards me with a bump! Was always offered a seat on the metro and tram, even when busy, by men and women, young and old. And we were there for a music festival where I got to go with DH onto the disabled platform right by the sound booth for a great view and not being pushed around in the crowd, the chance to sit when I needed to and a loo right there. Was great! Absolutely shattered back at work catching up after being off now though.

Lules · 07/06/2017 19:12

I think I'm going to get the mountain buggy duet. We'll need a double as mine are close together.

I'm feeling awful. Couldn't stop being sick last night and haven't eaten anything apart from a couple of ice lollies since lunch yesterday. Should probably have gone to MDAU to see if I was dehydrated but it's just too much effort.

Travelgeek · 07/06/2017 19:41

Oh dear Lules. Can you manage a bit of toast? Minimal effort required and might make you feel a bit better.

My friend who's expecting twins has gone for the mountain buggy duet. She had lots of people recommend it.

Lules · 07/06/2017 19:46

Yes it seems to get good reviews. There's also the nipper 360 but I haven't seen that in a shop.

I might try eating some toast. I'm just scared of starting the whole vomiting cycle again.

londonfeather · 08/06/2017 08:18

Oh Lules you poor thing. I can't imagine how horrible that is. Hope it eases off a bit soon.

WhiteLily86 · 08/06/2017 11:25

Welcome newbies question and little bean.

Calimommy I am exact same, some people say bump is huge as still 3 months to go, but others keep with the 'neat' chat.

Travel I found the same too, everyone has been uber nice to me now that bump is visible. A nice warm fuzzy feeling!

We have pram, silver cross pioneer Henley as shop was closing down so got good deal, and got a great second hand (been used once) next-to-me crib thing. Other than that we have bought nothing, and have started planning nursery but need to get workmen in to do it, so planning that now!

What type of car seats is everyone preferring, I have looked and want the best of both worlds, the infant one to be able to lift out for ease and it can dock in pram chassis, then the second stage one which swivels so you can tie them in easier when they get to that stage. But that seems to be the most expensive option! Has anyone already bought?

Lules · 08/06/2017 19:52

I have whatever the standard maxi cosi infant seat is which clips onto the bugaboo bee. We have a recaro which will do for the toddler all the way through.

I've kept being sick so am in triage waiting to see what they want to do. It's very busy. I'm quite bored.

Travelgeek · 08/06/2017 20:00

Oh dear Lules. Hopefully they will check you are hydrated enough and pop you on a drip if not.

How do you like the maxi cosi one? Of all the things car seats have really stumped me. At first I thought maxi cosi cabriofix and the easy fix base, job done, but then I started seeing what seats worked with a base that would last longer, and then I got into whether I wanted an i size seat for the one after the baby one so she can stay rear facing longer. So I've still not sorted it!

Lules · 08/06/2017 20:12

I don't use it very much as we live in London and don't drive very much but it's fine. It does the job! I do think iso fix ones are more trouble than they are worth though.

Travelgeek · 08/06/2017 20:22

Hmmm, we are pretty car reliant up here. Think I will just have to venture to mothercare and have a try in real life.

Hope they see you soon.

fluffywallow · 08/06/2017 21:20

With DD we had the maxi cosi pebble car seat with the family fix 2way isofix base then moved up to the maxi cosi pearl when needed - can go both rear facing and forward facing. Used the same isofix. So two car seats and one isofix will take us to when she's 4. Turned out to be minimum fuss after I'd stressed over it for months!

Maxi cosi pebble is great, slotted onto my bugaboo which was invaluable those first few months - she always much preferred her car seat than the bassinet.

fluffywallow · 08/06/2017 21:40

And lulu I feel so sorry for me, you have all my sympathy - you must be utterly fed up. Hope the dr can help Flowers

ememem84 · 08/06/2017 22:02

starwish direct from mamas and papas. They usually Have a bundle deal. still expensive though

Sadly where I am (Channel Islands) we don't get a huge amount of choice. We are limited to stockists and while we can order online not many brands are available in store to "test drive". Our mamas and papas store is in part of a designer clothing store.

We spent £579 on the pushchair carrycot adapters cup holder (essential...) footmuff and changing bag (as part of a special bundle deal). Friends can let us have a car seat which is compatible. So that'll save us. if we'd got the car seat and isofix base as part of it we'd have been looking at almost £850. Eek.

Babies are spendy!!

WhiteLily86 · 09/06/2017 08:52

Oh lules that is utterly crap that you are still so sick! Hope the doctor saw you quickly!

Lules · 09/06/2017 12:34

Thank you. Eventually got home at 11.30 last night. Was a lot of waiting around. But they gave me an injection of anti-emetics which actually worked so I've stopped being sick. Just have one more meeting and then I can go home.
