I'm suffering really badly with heartburn/acid reflux Lules I had been making do with zantac/supermarket brand, but GP put me on omeprazole yesterday which (touch wood) seems to be doing the trick so far...might be worth a call?

MrsY87 · 17/05/2017 06:59

I'm counting down until I finish work too fluffy! 11 weeks for me and I'm on holiday for 2 of those! They can't go quick enough! Grin

StarWish1 · 17/05/2017 07:12

I'm 25+1 now Smile
Had my 25 week midwife appointment and it was just a chat and checking the heartbeat. She said to start keeping an eye on movements to spot patterns so I got the kick counts app. Is anyone else using it? Anyone using a different app? Not sure if I like the kick counts app.

Travelgeek · 17/05/2017 07:23

13 weeks left in work after this. Two of them on holiday. Both exciting and scary as they are flying by so fast and there's so much to do first! Definitely counting down though.

I have lots of regular movement now but havent got an app yet. Interested to hear of a good one.

No midwife appointment until a week tomorrow. Ages since I saw her at 16 weeks. At least they get closer together after this.

londonfeather · 17/05/2017 09:28

Only 9 weeks left at work for me once I'm back from holiday next week - counting down.

As of start of June going to start buying stuff - has anyone bought a pram yet? I'm verging towards the bugaboo bee as works well for London transport, our corridor & our boot plus I'm short and DH is tall but is just so £££ - we can afford it but I'm just not sure I'm being a bit ott spending that much. Then I try and look at other options and it just seems to be the best option so not sure what to do really.

oliversmummy26 · 17/05/2017 12:19

10 weeks of work on Friday for me, and can't wait!

I have the kicks count and baby kicks apps, though to be honest I'm not all that keen on either. I looked for ages to find a good one and they're all a bit rubbish to be honest. My favourite is probably Baby Kicks..

London I've pre-ordered my mamas and papas Ocarro pushchair, paying it off in lumps as and when I can. Pushchairs and car seats are expensive unfortunately Sad

fluffywallow · 17/05/2017 14:12

London we have the bugaboo chameleon which has an adjustable handle so we can alter it as we see fit - does the bee have that feature? For what it's worth, I love our bugaboo and it's going to easily see us through another baby (we got it 3 years ago for DD) so I can justify the initial expense.

Lemondrop99 · 17/05/2017 14:22

Hello. I haven't checked in on this thread for ages but I'm now 20 weeks and getting very impatient about the fact I'm not really feeling baby movement yet!

Are you feeling movement yet? And if so, when did it start?

This is my first, so I know it's common to not feel anything up to 22 weeks or so. Keep getting twinges but I think it's just the uterus stretching rather than movement.

oliversmummy26 · 17/05/2017 15:21

Lemon have you had your 20 week scan yet? It may be that you have an anterior placenta which will deaden any movements you may be feeling...if this is your first it might also be that you're feeling baby without realising it's baby? Movements tend to start out like bubbles, a bit like a gassy tummy, they're just flutters...They do say it can be anytime between 16 and 22 weeks until you feel movements, but if you haven't felt anything by 24 weeks to contact your midwife. So you should be okay for now..

I think I started getting movements at around 15 weeks, but this is my 2nd so I knew what I was looking for, I also have a posterior placenta which I think makes a big difference...

Lemondrop99 · 17/05/2017 16:29

Annoyingly I don't get my scan until 21+6! So next Friday. I have no idea where my placenta is. I'm a chubba so maybe that's not helping feel things Grin I haven't had any of the floating or bubble popping feelings. Just some light muscle twitching but I think it's ligaments Sad

SpringSpringSpring · 17/05/2017 17:00

Lemon I've been feeling movement for a couple of weeks (24wks now) but its very irregular. I just feel bad about squashing her when sitting at my desk!

I have a stinking cold and a bit worried about risks of having a temperature but don't really feel I can make a drs appointment to ask. Any ideas?

WhiteLily86 · 17/05/2017 19:47

Hello all, been missing for a bit just being a busy bee! Had a holiday last week which was great and felt the movement a lot more being that I was relaxing more often. It was a full on holiday too though as visited 6 cities as part of a cruise, and did Rome - got to queue jump at the colosseum because they saw my bump, didn't even think of asking as don't feel Bump is big enough yet! Win!

Few people have started pointing out, and asking to touch (not as creeped out by this as I thought I would be).

We got the silver cross pioneer, a special edition coloured one. Height wise, I found the Icandy and silver cross a lot easier for adjusting the height (one wee button) rather than the two clips on the bugaboo, not sure if the bugaboos are all the same though.

Started looking at nursery furniture etc last night online. I know people keep saying doesn't need to be ready until baby is 6 month old...but on other hand, people say they don't have time to shower for days on end with a newborn so would rather get it done in next month or two, there is construction work involved too.

Saw an earlier chat on finishing work. How does everyone have so many holidays? I thought I got good holidays, but have had 2 weeks off this year and planning another week or so in the summer. Pro-Rata doesn't leave me many more days. Planning finishing a few days before due date, and if uncomfortable or baby comes early will just start May leave early. It is an office based job and should be all handed over by then, so should get to relax at work Wink

Wow sorry that was a long overdue catch up essay!

24+1 Grin

puttingourhoodupdown · 17/05/2017 23:10

I'd fallen off this thread again! Just back from Disneyland with DH and DD..... We had an amazing time and I'm sad it's over! Bump has grown loads whilst we were away and has been doing a lot of evening kicks now...I think the mammoth walking during the day kept him asleep!!!

Off to read back through the thread now

23+ 2 I think ( I've lost track on holiday!!!)

Lemondrop99 · 17/05/2017 23:36

Would you believe it but after posting earlier, I think I might have felt baby move tonight! Obviously I'm not sure as I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for.... but I've felt a few light dull thuds following by a pop sensation. I think I finally understand what's meant by the bubble popping description. Ooooh I hope I'm right and not just looking the plot 😆

MrsY87 · 18/05/2017 06:48

That sounds like movement lemon! It's so exciting when you feel those first movements , once you know the sensation you'll realise it more and more particularly if you are laying quietly 😊

calimommy · 18/05/2017 07:05

I'm about to get kicked out of bed for eating ice cubes...😬 it's so delicious thought

Corrinax · 18/05/2017 07:32

Hi @lemon im a week behind you at 19+1 and i dont feel anything or feel pregnant or have a bump i am stressing about my private scan i hav booked on sunday!

Did anyone else feel the same at 19 weeks?

Lemondrop99 · 18/05/2017 08:34

I know what you mean Corrinax. Tbecwaut between 12-20 weeks feels like forever.

I don't really have a proper bump. Because I'm already kinda fat, it's hard to tell whether there's a bump there (although my shape has changed a bit and I stick out higher up now). I'm wearing baggy clothes and strangers looking at me wouldn't think I was pregnant.

I have HG so that's the only thing making me "feel pregnant" (well that and sore boobs) but I want a proper bump and movements now.

We had a private scan at 18 weeks to check the gender, which was lovely. I also had a fall a week later and the heartbeat was checked at triage. Despite this my next scan (22 weeks) still seem miles away 😫

When it your 20 week scan booked in for? If it's soon, maybe hang it out. But if you've still got a few weeks and a private scan would make you feel better, go for it. I've had two private scans and they were both a lovely experience

Lemondrop99 · 18/05/2017 08:36

Sorry, misread that. You've already got a private scan booked. I'm sure it'll be fine. I always get nervous before scan and feel so relived when they say "ok there's baby" and you can see the heartbeat. Then I feel immediately better

I am nervous about the anomaly scan though. I'll be happier once that's over and I finally get some regular movement.

Let us know how you get on, but I'll bet you come up feeling a lot better

Corrinax · 18/05/2017 08:47

Thanks @lemon

Im hoping to feel something b4 sunday lol as that will make me less nervous for the scan! I booked one this sunday as daddy hasnt been able to come to the other ones plus i need reassurance as my 20 week scan isnt for another 2 weeks yet and 8 weeks is too long to wait i did hear heartbeat at midwife 2 weeks ago but tbh that dont mean a lot to me until i c the baby is ok xx

oliversmummy26 · 18/05/2017 11:27

Whitelily is your holiday being prorataed because you don't work full time? If you're full time, you still get your full holiday entitlement and continue to accrue it while on maternity leave...Due to the timing, I'm having to take all my holiday before I start mat leave on 14th August, as there will be no chance to take it all before it resets on 1st January. Also I read somewhere that it's illegal to be paid a lump sum for holiday not taken, so that's not an option either.

All this means I will have about 11 days holiday left to take before I start mat leave, so leaving work on 28th July Grin so excited! 10 weeks tomorrow and counting!

calimommy · 18/05/2017 15:46

lemondrop and corrinax I'm not sure if it would interest either of you but I bought a Doppler for pretty cheap and I use it for times when I'm worried about lack of movement. This is my 3rd baby but he doesn't seem to be as busy in there as his brothers so I often use the Doppler just to check he is ok. It's very good reassurance and I can also hear him moving on the Doppler even if I can't feel it. It's a swooshing sound versus the heartbeat.

StarWish1 · 18/05/2017 16:36

Hi Corrinax I also didn't feel much movement around 19 weeks (now 25) but found out at the 20 week scan that I have an anterior placenta so that was probably a factor. Only really the last week or so that I have felt a lot of movement. Don't worry - it will happen and it's amazing when it does Smile

StarWish1 · 18/05/2017 16:39

Forgot to say that I also have a doppler and I find it very reassuring (still check every couple of days now). As long as you're aware that sometimes a doppler won't always pick up the heartbeat if the baby isn't in a good position and you know not to panic if that happens.

DontBeBlueBeARainbow · 19/05/2017 03:04

I am 24+6 today and just in the middle of my blood glucose test, so hungry! I think they're doing it as standard (different part of the world), but maybe partly because DS1 was quite big at 9lb5. Positive so far is learning I no longer get nauseous if I don't eat within half hour of waking up, so can start eating breakfast at work again. Negative is they just weighed me and I am almost 10kg up already Shock which doesn't bode well for another 16 weeks of pregnancy!

I have 9 weeks left of work, but it feels very long, partly because I'm doing mostly 6 day weeks and no bank holidays/annual leave until then, so I'm basically flat out. I could take it easy and turn down overtime but the money is really good and I can't really turn it down with all the expenses coming up in the next few months (flights from China are expensive). I just need to look after myself in other ways, get the sleep I need at night and stay calm. It WILL all be worth it.
