Haven't looked at the thread but thought I'd give an update before having a read of the posts made today.

Well I've just come back from hospital 20 mins ago (left home at 9.40 this morning!) After several tests and discussions with my consultant, it seems that I am recovering from a virus and have been advised to stay at home for the rest of the week and I've got another appointment with her on Friday, as I'm quite dehydrated so she wants to check my vitals. She has actually recommends that I finish work now at 32 weeks due to potential risks of having another small baby due to stress etc (and has drafted a letter to my manager) but am reluctant to do so just yet. Am gonna see how I feel by the end of the week and then make a decision.

EsmesBees · 22/03/2017 19:56

I am so so tired. I work about five minutes from Westminster, its been a really upsetting afternoon. They put the office on lockdown so no one could leave. Plus obviously I couldn't do my normal commute through Westminster tube so had to walk further to another stop. Definitely feeling more vulnerable than normal being pregnant, but also just horrible thinking about those poor victims. And how much worse it could have been. Have gone straight to bed after going in to see sleeping DD and give her a cuddle.

Hope all the other Londoners are ok. And hope the day has improved raspberry.

EsmesBees · 22/03/2017 19:59

Oh my Jenny no wonder you've been feeling poorly. Think it sounds very sensible to have the rest of the week off. How long have you got until you are meant to to finish work anyway?

MrsJW15 · 22/03/2017 20:04

Hugs Esme. Horrible day. DH works in Westminster, I used to and we are meant to be having baby at St Thomas's, so I walk across the bridge all the time. So awful.

I'm so uncomfortable today. Baby keeps feeling like it's jabbing bits into me - sort of at the top between my ribs. Plus my back aches and I'm getting twinges low down as well. Sigh. Five weeks of work to go...

PeachIcedT · 22/03/2017 20:15

@jennymac31 wow you've had a long day! Sounds very sensible to stay off for at least the rest of the week, see how you are on Friday and decide from there. Hope you can get lots of rest.

@EsmesBees that sounds awful, it's such an upsetting event, and being so close by must've been really difficult. Hope you also get lots of good rest tonight.

newbieho · 22/03/2017 20:29

DH came back from central London and got one of the biggest hugs ever. So happy to have him back home!

coxsorangepippin · 22/03/2017 20:31

esme same here, I work round the corner. It's not that it's scary (like you we were just shut inside) more that the tragic deaths feel so close to home Sad

MissMooMoo · 22/03/2017 20:36

Lots to catch up on!
Hope all London ladies are safe (and their friends and families)
DH works on the southbank and goes for a run over that bridge a few times a week,we are away on holiday atm but I feel sick just thinking about it.

jennymac31 · 22/03/2017 20:41

Esme - I'm due to finish work in 3 weeks time, as booked all my remaining annual leave from 13th April until my due date, which is when my maternity leave starts.

Was planning on giving the letter to my manager next week and suggesting that I work from home for the remainder of my time, as the commute is getting too much with my spd, but my consultant doesn't even think I should bother considering this alternative.

Sipperskipper · 22/03/2017 20:43

Hope everyone working in London or with family / DPs / DHs there are home safe, same for any of you in / with family in the police & emergency services covering the area.

Hope everyone is feeling ok! sanity you will look amazing, would love to see a picture or two after the big day!

teainbed · 22/03/2017 20:52

Big hugs to London ladies. Terrible shocking stuff. Sad

EsmesBees · 22/03/2017 21:16

That's it Cox, it feels very close to home. I'm normally pretty stoical about these things, but I feel very emotional after today.

Jenny well at least that's not too long to go. Although it probably feels like an age to you. Hope work are being supportive of your recovery.

ClaireSunflower · 22/03/2017 21:25

Hope you're feeling better raspberry and having a relaxing evening.

I just got back from my midwife appointment when I saw the news about the westminster attacks. Phoned dh in a bit of a panic as he often has meetings there but thankfully he is fine. Horrible for the poor people involved though.

Badgerbird · 22/03/2017 22:04

peach thank god you're on al now, work sounds shit!

raspberry I really hope your day got better. CakeBrew

Oh jenny no wonder you've been feeling so rough!! Let's hope you're on the mend now. See how you feel about finishing earlier. Has your work been difficult with you?

Horrible news :( here's wishing everyone a restful eve with their loved ones xx

yellowismyfavourite · 22/03/2017 22:29

Glad you all and your families are safe. Awful for the people who were involved though. It's a scary world sometimes.

Teaspoon74 · 23/03/2017 00:04

Love to all affected by today's events.

I was meant to be in Westminster today, Oh is often there and many friends still work in Palace & Whitehall so feeling a little drained after 9 hours of crisis comms & coverage!!

MrsJW - sounds like we've a lot in common!

Jenny - see how you feel, but do listen to the advice too.

Sleep well (or as well as you can!).

RasperryInAMelon · 23/03/2017 00:45

Just. Got. Home.

Straight to bed, will play catch up tomorrow...

Fingers crossed for a slightly better nights sleep... alarm set for 5.45 😩

Teaspoon74 · 23/03/2017 02:44

Insomnia. Again. Too early for tea. Angry

mrscrocopop · 23/03/2017 03:48

Not sleeping here either Tea!!!! I'm sooo tired I want to cry!

Raspberry - bloody hell! I think I'd be calling in sick after a day like that, feeling how you already were! I really hope you get a good nights sleep and that tomorrow (today) is better.

WishIWasSleeping · 23/03/2017 06:08

Glad to hear everyone is safe after yesterday. x

At 4.15 yesterday after finishing a 2 hour meeting I waddled out past reception for our 17yo receptionist to tell me I 'looked tired' ... I think she was lucky it was more steps to her desk than to the door.. full of tact that one! Hmm
1004 - 10pm was probably the latest I ever went to bed with DD unless we were actually out of the house... I'm still not entirely sure how I and the other mothers with jobs (or full time children) and toddlers are still alive and not committed because of sleep deprivation torture!

My DD has had chicken pox warnings at nursery now for about 4 weeks, this morning she had 1 spot - I was hopeful for an outbreak and some time off of work, however this evening she still has just one spot....! I'm going to check her over this morning as I have a 4 hr meeting this afternoon with no scheduled breaks...Confused

I'm also finishing on the 27th April. It feels like an age away! x

EsmesBees · 23/03/2017 06:19

You've made me chuckle WishI. Hoping for chicken pox so you can get a break from work!

I am mumsnetting in bed instead of being sensible and jumping in the shower before DD gets up. Today is going to be long. Nursery run, longer commute as tube stop still closed, horrendous day at work and then have to leave early for two hours of physio. Still, almost the weekend...

Rustler74 · 23/03/2017 06:56

@RasperryInAMelon and @EsmesBees that's not great! I would think they'll understand if you were to take a day or at least half a day off? Keep well ladies, also the ones with insomnia x

yellowismyfavourite · 23/03/2017 07:08

What do contractions feel like in the early stages? I had an hour or so overnight with pain going from my back round to the bottom of my bump, and it felt like my bump was pulling in, but not sure if it was just baby moving strangely? Then it just stopped and am off for work this morning as normal. Feeling a bit freaked out... and suddenly panicking about my very unpacked hospital bag!!

newbieho · 23/03/2017 07:13

@RasperryInAMelon hope today is going to be a better day. Hugs x

@PeachIcedT enjoy your time off!

All of the ladies affected by insomnia - hope you catch up some sleep during the day.

@jennymac31 please listen to the consultant

@coxsorangepippin @EsmesBees stay safe x

RasperryInAMelon · 23/03/2017 07:28

So yesterday afternoon started to get marginally better after what was can only be described as the mother of all meltdowns after it catastrophically pissed it down on my way to work in the morning leading to me rolling into the office looking like a flailing puffa fish out of water... ☂️🐡

My replacement started work yesterday which meant I had to put on my big girl pants and leave my emotions at the door when I got to work and spend the day with him. Thankfully it helped take my mind off of the 8 million other things floating around!

Before I knew it, it was 4.30pm and I would soon be going home! 😊

I was then swiftly reminded by DH that we had dinner reservations with friends who are getting married abroad in a few weeks and as we aren't able to make it, had promised we'd take them out for a swanky meal.

Fab. U. Lous. 😩

By the time we got back from Primrose Hill to South East London it was half 12, soaking wet with no cabs it was another 15 min walk home in the rain, fell into bed at 1am and eventually crashed after half hours of braxton hix and then slept solidly till 5.45am when my alarm went off!

Oddly... I woke up feeling fresh! 'It's going to be a good day' I said to DH - hopped out of bed, turned on the shower... NO HOT WATER!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Someone give me strength... sat on a train at 7am this morning, having washed with a packet of baby wipes and half a can of dry shampoo in my hair on my way to a business meeting... the guy next to me smells like he's had no hot water for a month, there's a baby crying down the carriage and I can feel my tits swelling with every bit of noise, I just want to go back to bed.

7 days left at work... please tell me the end is in sight... 😳
