@Rustler74 glad you and sprout are ok Smile

I'm amazed at the number of you staying up past 10 pm, if I don't start making moves to bed by 9.30 pm I'm completely useless the next day!

@SanitysSake Good choice on the makeup artist it's important that you feel good, because then you'll look good and you're getting married so you'll have a magic glow anyway Grin

Brightsmoke · 22/03/2017 09:23

Glad your OK Rustler! As per wedding invites, its your wedding, you shouldn't feel obliged to invite someone just because they invited you! DH and I buggered off to Jamaica, and didn't invite anyone, so do what is prefect for you :)

Very exciting about the wedding Sanity, I love weddings! I'm sure you will look beautiful, make up artist or not :)

jennymac31 · 22/03/2017 10:15

Morning ladies

Am on my way to growth scan and consultant's appointment. Still not feeling great. Dropping off dd at nursery this morning was more difficult than anticipated. Couldn't hold down breakfast this morning and just generally feeling crap so am hoping I can get to the bottom of this.

Very excited about your wedding 💒 sanity!

Hope you're all doing well xx

Badgerbird · 22/03/2017 10:23

barnes that's a shame. Are you going to NHS ones too? I really enjoyed mine and found very helpful. Reckon you get to meet more people at nct though. Try not to worry about not knowing the answers (you are a little hard on yourself sometimes if I may say in the nicest possible way), no one cares and you seem like a good person so I'm sure you'll make friends if there's anyone there you click with. How many sessions do you get? Fingers crossed next week is more helpful.

sanity are we talking Bombay Saphirre? Tanqueray? Navy Stength?! Shock Always with lime. Wink

rustler pleased all is ok.

Good luck jenny!

MrsJW15 · 22/03/2017 10:50

My NCT class concluded that the ideal birth would be followed by champagne and that a G&T would be waiting when you got home Grin

We did have some questions that we discussed in groups - how do you imagine the ideal set up etc - but it was good for getting people talking and we still got lots of info. Overall I did find it helpful, even if some of it was just helping us to think about what we might want. In fact my main concern now is that my concept of birth is a bit idealistic!

teainbed · 22/03/2017 10:50

Good news Rustler. Rest up today.

Hope all is well jenny. I've also had spells of just feeling not quite right.

barnes I've heard NCT groups vary wildly from brilliant to terrible. Hope it picks up. Perhaps they were just trying to find out what you knew already and your expectations to try and pitch the group accordingly?

teainbed · 22/03/2017 10:53

I've just got hopefully the final size of nursing bras. A little bit of room for pads and expansion when the milk comes in. They seem huge!

lullaby23 · 22/03/2017 11:11

esme I was going to make the same comment about cat/toddlers joining you in the bathroom! Quite enjoy evenings and weekends when I can go without someone shouting 'mummy wee!' at me.

barnes sorry the nct was disappointing, I hope you can make good friends and it improves.

sanity I think getting you make up (and hair?) done is a lovely idea, you deserve the pampering pre baby let alone for your wedding.

Good luck with the appointment jenny

Went for lunch with former colleagues today so DS missed his usual nap time and ended up crawling into my lap and falling asleep at 4.30 which hasn't happened for a long time.

No gin for me thanks but I'd murder a vodka and tonic with ice and a slice of lime, cheers!

EsmesBees · 22/03/2017 12:32

Barnes you should try giving some feedback to the course leader. My group all came away with the feeling the course didn't really prepare us for the reality of giving birth, and told the leader this at the end, but by then it was too late to do anything about it. There is something great about having a network of local people going through the same life changing stuff as you are, even if you won't be long term friends, so worth sticking with if you can.

Oh I love when they fall asleep on you lullaby. Mine only does it when she's ill but it's so precious.

I'm wondering if I'm over thinking how I'm going to manage to breastfeed the new baby and entertain dd1 at the same time. I literally can't see how it's going to work, yet people manage it everyday. Maybe it will just be easier the second time and it won't be an issue to be kneeling on the floor using one hand to build Lego while nursing a newborn??!

ClaireSunflower · 22/03/2017 12:51

Rustler hope you're ok, that must have been scary! I've been worried about falling over but I'm sure baby is well protected in there and it's a good thing you erred on the safe side with going to triage.

Good luck with the wedding sanitys I'm sure you'll look lovely in your dress. Good call on the makeup artist. I don't know what mine did but she must have been a miracle worker as I didn't get a wink of sleep the night before due to nerves / excitement and she managed to make me look the best I've ever looked in my life! Haha

Nurse my cat will also not leave me alone. I don't know if it's a hormone thing but ever since I got pregnant she has been extra clingy. Not sure what will happen when the baby is born. I think someone on the last thread mentioned playing the sound of a newborn to a cat to get it used to the noise? We tried this the other day and the cat looked very alarmed, went up to dh, bit him on the hand and ran off! 😂

Good luck with the growth scan Jenny and hope you feel better soon

Ah gin and tonic, I am looking forward to this when I'm back from the hospital. Will probably be the first drink I have!

I'm just on my way to my 31 week midwife appointment now. Will be working from home this afternoon so I'm looking forward to not being in the office. Only 18 working days till maternity leave!

savagehk · 22/03/2017 13:11

@Barnes79 I have got a spare copy of this book if you want me to post it to you for a bit of pre-reading? www.hive.co.uk/Product/Jenny-Smith/Your-Body-Your-Baby-Your-Birth--THE-must-have-handbook-to/11547682

KLane · 22/03/2017 13:22

@savagehk @barnes79 I've been loving that book- so helpful!

peasandquiet · 22/03/2017 13:36

Such a good book!!

1004Rise · 22/03/2017 13:47

Just back from second NHS ante-natal class with health visitor. We had individual service, only DH and I turned up! It was really useful for us because she was talking about the actual baby rather than being pregnant and giving birth

She was really practical and explained the role of a health visitor the "named person" (which I think is a Scottish thing) and because it was just the two of us we were able to ask loads of questions

Definitely need to line up the G&T to "wet the baby's head" always with lime, Gin type optional but preferably not Gordon's. DH's occasional G&T smells really good but when I try a sip it's awful.... I hope that changes!!

@EsmesBees surely you can fit in some juggling while you're at it as well... Grin

Barnes79 · 22/03/2017 14:08

Badger yes I'm doing NHS ones too. Think I get 7 NCT ones and 3 NHS ones. As for being too hard on myself - I don't know what you mean 😜

Tea all they had to do was ask what we knew - nowt! Blush

Savage Thanks for the offer. That's so nice of you. I'll try to work out how to message you my address... 👍Flowers

newbieho · 22/03/2017 14:37

Good luck @jennymac31 hope you will get better soon

BouncingBlueberry · 22/03/2017 17:47

@SanitysSake you'll be a blossoming bride I've no doubt 👰🏼 it's a special day and you should feel your best!

nursebickypegs · 22/03/2017 18:11

@RasperryInAMelon rant away, we are all here x

Rustler74 · 22/03/2017 18:21

All London ladies safe? So horrible what happened there ConfusedSad

@Barnes79 that's rubbish about the nct course! We have ours this weekend. Also got NHS one twice two hours on 4-11 April. Breastfeeding sessions are on 2 April (nct, ladies only Hmm) and 22 April (NHS).
I'm really curious and looking forward to both courses, but to be honest I'm also getting lots from you ladies here, and also from the pregnancy club.

Today at work was difficult to get through as I still don't feel 100% but luckily it went quite quick! My colleagues are truly lovely but I can't help but counting down the working days...

RasperryInAMelon · 22/03/2017 18:51

@nursebickypegs I don't think you want to hear it. I've winged all day and cried whenever I've had a chance

OP posts:
nursebickypegs · 22/03/2017 18:56

Bless you @RasperryInAMelon. If it's any consolation, I will murder my DH. He's being an absolute wind up merchant and just teasing me endlessly.

PeachIcedT · 22/03/2017 19:08

@SanitysSake exciting about your wedding, you will look wonderful I am sure of that but most importantly have a great day with your DH. Makeup artist is a good shout as they will take the stress off that bit (and mine worked wonders on me on my wedding day, I couldn’t replicate that).

@Barnes79 sorry about your first NCT experience – I know they often run based on input on the participants so maybe she was trying to feed off the conversation by asking some (odd) questions. Does next week’s one have a particular topic? I think it’d be worth feeding back before the next one as maybe she isn’t aware that you are not finding it helpful. @MrsJW15 I am liking that ideal birth scenario, but would make mine a red wine!

@Teaspoon74 I had a couple of dizzy spells but not for a while now, and I have had persistently low BP readings (most recently 93/52) so I’m not hugely surprised by that. Worth keeping up the fluid intake (and the inevitable increased toilet trips) to help perhaps?

@Rustler74 I’m glad they checked you over and all is ok, but sounds a tiring day.

@RasperryInAMelon it sounds like you’re having a tough time, I hope the rest of the week improves for you – I’ve had these sorts of moments recently but things will get better.

It’s an understatement but I have really not enjoyed work this week – it’s rush, rush, rush with very little provision for the fact I’m fairly pregnant now – and a few times I’ve left my seat for 10 seconds and someone has nabbed it! There are a lot of other things going on too which just depress me – however I am now on annual leave until the beginning of April so time to pack hospital bag, sort my stuff out, maybe go swimming and generally not stress too much.

yellowismyfavourite · 22/03/2017 19:32

raspberry hope all is ok and you get to go home and relax now.
jenny hope your scan went ok.
sanity am sure you will look amazing... All brides have that special glow!! But my makeup lady was fantastic and I think anything that helps you to feel special is a great idea
barnes hope nct classes improve. We have already met up twice with our nct group since finishing a few weeks ago... my EDD is almost the last one so expect there will be a few babies very soon!
rustler glad all is ok. I am so clumsy right now... Feels like my arms and legs belong to someone else! Managed to fall up the stairs taking my class to assembly today... only my pride bruised luckily although I got a bit of a shock!
34w midwife appointment tomorrow... hoping this time to get through it without a problem with my fundal measurement!

1004Rise · 22/03/2017 19:39

@RasperryInAMelon hope you've made it home to a warm bath and your DH to look after you.Cake

@PeachIcedT Very jealous of your annual leave, my heart really isn't in work anymore Blush 22 working days to go Grin

I'm (surprise surprise) knackered already and it's only 7.30, and all I've done is sit on my bum at a laptop all day Confused
