Welcome Onion!

And that's a really nice thing to do Nurse! We did a secret sanitary thing at Christmas through the WI where we have sanitary pads/ tampons etc to the local food bank. Talking to the staff it was a real eye opener how many people are in dire straits at the moment.

Yay Shini! Though beef are best, you'll soon discover (the yellow ones).

MrsPage aw! V cute ;)

newbieho · 11/03/2017 19:38

Mighty Flowers maybe it's worth to ring 111? Just for the reassurance. Keeping my fingers crossed for you x

1004Rise · 11/03/2017 19:51

Tea yes awful faff with our pram and we ordered it in the shop... "it'll be here in 3 - 5 days, probably 5 since we're so far north" two weeks later still no pram, several phone calls maybe we'll get it this week Hmm if we hadn't got the 10% off it DH was all for cancelling and ordering elsewhere!

nursebickypegs · 11/03/2017 19:54

@beanturnipandspud I really want a sleepyhead, people have told me how amazing it is but I'm clueless to what it is!

nursebickypegs · 11/03/2017 19:56

@Teaspoon74 I know, it makes me so sad. I've given all my sanitary bits to a food bank too, I literally hoard it every time it's on offer!

Badgerbird · 11/03/2017 20:17

Just catching up today ladies, it's been a busy one!!

Thanks teaspoon it's been good so far :)

Rise your doggy is gorgeous!!

Not a fan of crisps newbie?!?

Autumn is that a photo at feeding time perchance??

Oh blimey dream don't feel guilty! We have plenty of time for that as mums!! I don't work flat out every weekend or full time during week so need to make hay whilst the sun shines and get the money in before baby arrives!! And it's my own business so I kinda love it Also your words re those of us who've had mc's was really kind

Yellow thanks, feeling much better, it was fast and furious!! Glad your LO is wriggling as normal :)

Mighty that sounds horrid, especially with builders in!! Hope you are feeling better soon.

Bright I hope your doggy feels better after a rest. Where did you get your first stretch marks?

Oh sipper!!! That little fuzzy face!!!

Hey onion welcome Smile We do talk about other things apart from monster munch. Honest!!

Nurse that's such a great thing to do. It's bloody ridiculous that people are still suffering like that in this country nowadays. Bought a couple of cheapy duvets for some homeless guys the other week after driving past, seeing them and bursting into tears! I feel a very lucky person.

yellowismyfavourite · 11/03/2017 20:25

Hi funnyonion. mighty that sounds horrible hope you feel better

Went to view a second nursery today. On paper yesterday's was so much better... location price and it had an outstanding ofsted. It was fine... nothing wrong with it really but I still left feeling like I didn't even want to consider nursery any more... I hated it and couldn't explain why to DH who was really confused. Today I felt it was right within a minute of walking in the door...

We are going to go with today's one... but am hoping my instincts are right... never had such a strong reaction for no obvious reason before!

beanturnipandspud · 11/03/2017 20:33

nurse baby 3 here and the sleepyhead wasn't around when I had bean & turnip. So I am merely buying in to the craze. It is basically a cushiony thing ... that enables co sleeping which aids breastfeeding. My DH has referred to it all day as a overpriced dogs bed! I see it as an alternative to a Moses basket, and we can take on our weekend breaks and summer holiday much easier than a travel cot or Moses basket.

yellow welcome to motherhood. These instincts will happen often. I did exactly the same with nursery with bean. The exact same nursery didn't feel right for turnip so she went to childminder. Haven't thought about spud yet though.
We also did the same with schools, we knew within seconds of being in the building.

Adventuregame · 11/03/2017 20:34

Sorry I've been awol !! Now I've left work I find it much harder to keep up as I'm not infront of a computer all day !!
Loving my maternity leave - body feels so well rested already. I've been sleeping until about 9:30am most days !
Went to the free NHS antenatal workshop today and it was fantastic. Midwife was from our hospital and she was brilliant. 3 hours of solid facts about what will happen at the hospital - I don't mean predicting how labour will go but just the General when to call, when they'll ask you to come in, what will happen if A,B or C happens etc ! So pleased we went !!
Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend xx

nursebickypegs · 11/03/2017 20:38

@beanturnipandspud it's like the dream sheep too, I have no clue about it. I want to get it, but I'm scared Bub won't settle "naturally" then. I might have a look at the sleepyhead! I have a version of the next to me crib which is a Travel cot for the first few months... I'm not co sleeping as DH and I aren't tiny people, and I'm convinced DH will roll on the Bub!!

nursebickypegs · 11/03/2017 20:39

@Badgerbird you little star. It makes me so sad. We bought Christmas presents and gave them to the food bank too, and I've been giving away the baby clothes that people have gifted to us which were girly.

Rustler74 · 11/03/2017 20:51

Loving the speed ladies !
@Funnyonion17 warm welcome. Glad you've found us and decided to join!
Totally in love with the chocolate labradors!

I'm in Belgium at the moment without DP and I miss him so much I could cry! I'm having a family and friends gathering tomorrow afternoon, and hoping to keep it a shortish one. Seeing a few people I have not seen for a while but it'll be very busy! We are preparing some sweet desserts so morning will be rather busy too. I'm kind of hoping that people won't bring presents as I don't like being centre of attention. My mum's friends have been giving some money already which I think will be useful to buy our changing table or cabinet etc.

Now hoping we are going home soon so I can go to bed...

Badgerbird · 11/03/2017 21:00

Ooooh how lovely rustler! Have a fab time :)

stationaryace · 11/03/2017 21:12

The Sleepyhead is an expensive cushion for babies. It's often compared to a rolled up towels with a sheet over the top. However it is the ONLY thing my DD would sleep on other than me, and my justification for buying it was that it would cost a lot less than the hotel rooms that I was dreaming of running away to at 3am in the first few weeks. Even at £70, if you just use it for 2 months it works out for like £1 a day. I didn't get any of the additional covers as I couldn't justify the price of those, but we used the sleepyhead every day for 4 months and only stopped when we moved to Australia for 6 months. It's my favourite bit of baby equipment Grin

savagehk · 11/03/2017 21:18

I'm not convinced by the sleepyhead. That said I've not seen one in the flesh, but as a co-sleeping' aid' I think it'd just get in the way. We co slept last time (and will probably do so again) and I think having an extra "thing" to pull the baby up&over would mean co-sleeping was less effective as I'd wake up more. It was really good for us that baby was on the same level as me IYSWIM. Nonetheless everyone else seems to think it's great... so dunno!
I'm tempted by a full-size crib downstairs with rocking motion for when baby is little, wouldn't have done it with my first but now that we have a 4yo running around I think a sturdier option that's off the floor might be better this time (last time he was in the pram carry-cot thing or simply just on the floor on top of a blanket).

nursebickypegs · 11/03/2017 21:32

We are planning to have this for downstairs, and then bring it upstairs at night time. On saying that I can imagine living upstairs with baby like I did when I broke my leg; I had a microwave, kettle and mini fridge in the bedroom and I made out it was just terrible but it was bloody great and I'd do it again.

Isn't there another version of the sleepyhead called a poodle pod or a puddle pod? Another nurse mentioned it to me and said it was fantastic. I have all our essentials, im just worried I'm missing out on the one item which will make everything golden.

Place marking!

RasperryInAMelon · 11/03/2017 21:42

@beanturnipandspud hope you got some good bargains!

Welcome @Funnyonion17

@nursebickypegs @mightymouse76 my D&V remedy is flat coke and salt and vinegar pringles generally

So odd to hear all the bad experiences with Mothercare, we've always had brill deliveries and customer service from them.

@Rustler74 I've had a bit of an emosh 'missing DH day' too... he's in Barcelona, I'm flying out to meet him tomorrow - only the second time we've been apart since we got married!

OP posts:
nursebickypegs · 11/03/2017 21:44

@RasperryInAMelon I swear by it, the salt from the chips and sugar from Coke makes you feel a bit more human!

Rustler74 · 11/03/2017 22:00

@RasperryInAMelon I swear by flat coke but couldn't do ANYTHING with vinegar!
For him and me it's the first time we are apart since we have moved in together so I'm really feeling it. The hormones make it even more emosh and also his sweet and lovely texts.

vanilla8 · 11/03/2017 22:02

Wow another thread Grin
Been for a spa day today with lovely afternoon tea and my first steps In a pool since 6 weeks pregnant, it wasn't till I got out that I realised how heavy I feel Shock
Might make the effort now to hit the local pool once a week.

Had a pregnancy massage but much prefer deep tissue massages and think the woman was just being gentle with me!

I have to agree that mothercare are appaling with deliveries and click and collect. Online account shows processing and never 'delivered to store' When I went to pick up one order up I only received half of it and didn't notice till I got home.
When I eventually went back to get the rest they had returned to store stock and hadn't bothered to let me know!! Thought it was cheeky as they also never refunded me either till I went in!

nursebickypegs · 11/03/2017 22:07

I'm so pleased others are liking their husbands more and it's not just me! I'm a nurse and DESPISE WITH A PASSION when my husband is ill as he's the worst. He's got the flu at the moment and I'm proper pandering to him and caring for him. What on earth has got into me??

Tickyboovicki · 11/03/2017 22:09

Finally think I've caught up (wow this thread moves fast, new thread already!) but have forgotten everything everyone said that I wanted to reply too 🙃

Welcome funnyonion! Hope you can keep up with this chatty lot! Agree it's nice to have people in a similar situation to talk too, although this is my first so it's all new to me anyway!

Whoever was talking about moving, were in the same boat! Just accepted an offer on ours again (our last buyer pulled out 🙁) but thankfully the house we had put an offer in for was still available so fingers crossed it's all moving forwards again as of today!

I know we will end up moving around the exact same time baby's due, and my other half has his final exams around then too 🙈 Stressful much!

Bit of relief from the stress, my mum and sister threw me a surprise baby shower today! Was lovely to see all my family and friends, and play some fun games and have a general catch up. I know a lot of people on here don't like them, but with all the stress we have right now it was nice to have a day to be reminded of how many people we have around us who care so much!

Teaspoon74 · 11/03/2017 22:18

Hey Ticky waves. Good news on the house - fingers crossed!

Vanilla - v jealous! Tried to get a walk in pregnancy massage today but no joy. Maybe next weekend. Thought it might give me s bit more energy as everything feels so bloody hard at the moment!!

Rustler, Rasperry & Nurse - agree re being emosh & OHs. Mine is being such a sweetheart ATM. I just don't want him to get broken by trying to do too much!!!

RasperryInAMelon · 12/03/2017 03:18

@Rustler74 at least you're getting that... I just got woken up by a phone call... he's shit faced 🙈 still, guess I can't get angry and I'm pleased he's having fun (just would have been fine hearing about it at a reasonable hour!) can't wait to be joining him today and relax for a few days away!

@nursebickypegs oh dear... men are the worst patients! My DH made a comment in his wedding speech about how I'm a caring person, just not to him when he's ill 😂

Sounds fun @Tickyboovicki - I know my SIL is organising something at the end of April, I'm just not entirely sure what...
