@WishIWasSleeping btw that's the only thing MIL has bloody bought!!! My parents have gone mad, while MIL bought a snowsuit for May, and has given me some nappies which her next door neighbour was getting rid of. Hmm oh well!

peasandquiet · 12/03/2017 18:08

Lolz at the MILs buying snow suits in newborn, that has cracked me up.
Pain isn't as bad this afternoon, but I feel rotten. Really sicky and just 'off' I will be taking tomorrow off and getting checked out if I don't wake up a new woman!
No progress in the nursery whatsoever today 😂 Baby clothes remain in the loft! Figure if baby is early early we won't need anything from the newborn selection for a good few weeks anyway so I'm not that motivated at the moment. Will see how Scan and appt go this week and then get cracking.

RedBlu · 12/03/2017 18:26

I have physio tomorrow at the hospital as I am suffering with my legs and hips. Anyone know what to expect?

Still aiming to leave at 38 weeks, I am now 30 weeks but not sure if I will be able to make it, I am so tired.

Might see if I can afford to make an extra week on the end so I can leave at 37!

I did find out I got a really good pay rise this year which will help whilst on maternity (least til it goes to statutory)

nursebickypegs · 12/03/2017 18:33

@RedBlu I had a physio appointment for my SPD. I was given some exercises and a huge tubagrip to wear across my stomach which is so uncomfortable. Then I was discharged. She's told me I'm not allowed to walk long distances but to swim instead!

I have a growth scan tomorrow and meeting our consultant again to discuss Bubs heart. I always get anxious before scans, no clue why.

I've starved myself all day so I will eat my tea. I made BBQ chicken pittas, really struggled to eat them! I think Bub is taking up a lot of room.

Barnes79 · 12/03/2017 18:50

Red At mine they looked at my movements - bending, legs apart (to check no issues for childbirth), and asked about my symptoms. I was given some pretty standard exercises and she discussed if I needed a bump support (giant tubigrip or a belt). They also give advice if there's something particular you're struggling with e.g. Sleep, getting out of cars. At a subsequent appointment there was a bit of massage. I won't be discharged until a month after my EDD even if I don't need to see her again. My advice is to make sure you tell them anything you're struggling with or that makes pain worse.

RussianCaravanTea · 12/03/2017 19:22

Hi all, sorry not to be keeping up with you guys much! I find facebook much easier - could someone pm me with a link please? hope all of you who are under the weather are feeling better. I am feeling increasingly heavy with a low bump - probably not helped by having to cart a wilful toddler round with me wherever I go!

mrscrocopop · 12/03/2017 19:30

Nurse - we got sleeveless body suits from John Lewis... they were their basic range, I think it was five for about a tenner - plain white.

WishIWasSleeping · 12/03/2017 19:32

Those Physio appts sound very unhelpful!
I'm trying to look for a private someone to do something to help with my hips and what feels like my bum cheeks!
I've googled pregnancy massage, but I'm not sure how much help that will be!

Also - saw a meme at the weekend and it made me laugh....

  • Does Mike Wazowski blink or wink...? Shock
nursebickypegs · 12/03/2017 19:41

@mrscrocopop good old John Lewis. I'll would nip in but last time I went into Nottingham I think I nearly passed out!

1004Rise · 12/03/2017 19:56

Uh oh.... I'm back on pineapple again... must be the feeling sick thing... this could get expensive Blush

I'm really tired this evening, the thought of working tomorrow is not helping, I'm with you red still planning to leave at 38 but starting to wonder if I'll make it that far. All I do is sit at a desk all day and I'm not suffering with hip pain etc either, I'm just knackered and forgetful so end up redoing stuff Confused

Good luck for tomorrow nurse I'm sure all will be good Smile

If my DM has bought anything she's keeping quiet about it, I know she's been knitting though. MIL has again been remarkably sensible anything she's bought is in 3-6 months, she has bought a pink outfit - guess what she's hoping for - but I'll let her off nowhere near as crazy as snowsuit in newborn size Hmm

Naming convention question what's the difference between a sleep suit and a baby grow ... I thought they were both the same thing... all in ones, full legs with feet and long arms?

EsmesBees · 12/03/2017 20:01

Yep rise they are the same thing. I don't know what the term for the ones without the feet is though? I think I'd still call those baby grows.

Google maternity physio wishI. There are a few who offer it privately round here.

I'm really tired too. It was dd's birthday party today so fun but exhausting. She's got one of her eye teeth coming through so her sleep is broken. I'm looking forward to getting to work on Tuesday for a bit of a break!

Barnes79 · 12/03/2017 20:40

Wish - massage is a temporary fix. If you don't have exercises to do then the problem will just reappear. A lot of physio treatment is being given the info you need to help yourself, rather than some magic quick fix...

Autumnsweater · 12/03/2017 20:44

wishiwassleeping i found my NHS physio far better than the private one and i got an appt super quick so I'd try them first before shelling out.

Loved everyone's dog photos!!

Whilst I was at Crufts yesterday DH went to a nearly new sale and bought some newborn babygros and sleepsuits, 0-3 sleepsuits, a swaddle me and a cot mattress protector all for under £20! Lots of bargains to be had...

PowerofThree · 12/03/2017 20:50

Wish I have gone private for my physio with a specialist women's physio. She did some manipulation and targeted massage to give some release to tight muscles before giving me daily exercises to get on with before next appointment. Her message was that regular manipulation may maintain my current state but I will only get improve if I do the exercises - as I can barely walk at the moment I think I had better do the exercises... Unfortunately it turns out my pelvic floor is shot - I can't tighten and hold for 1 sec let alone the 10 you are told to aim for!

nursebickypegs · 12/03/2017 21:02

@Autumnsweater that's fantastic! I think there is one soon near us so I'll pop in.

savagehk · 12/03/2017 21:11

Aren't the footless ones 'rompers' or 'playsuits'? Following previous baby with 'big feet' (one of the first things the medical staff said) I'm avoiding footed stuff this time. In fact I'm looking at separate tops/bottoms pretty much from day 1 if possible :) Haven't found too many tshirts though, esp not short sleeved ones, that small, but got a good selection of bottoms so far. (Not a vest fan.)

nursebickypegs · 12/03/2017 21:23

@savagehk we got some great tshirts 0-3 from Asda! We are having a boy, and these ones have dinosaurs on them. Super cute, 3 for £6.

WishIWasSleeping · 12/03/2017 21:27

@Autumnsweater - I asked my midwife for a referral to Physio and she told me the waiting list is too long and by the time I got an appointment my baby would be here... Hmm so I only have private as an option.
I'm sure I can do exercises - once the pain dies down a little. It seems to be worse at the weekends... probably because I try and do more than just sit at my desk!
I just feel useless! I was 'running' around town doing my Christmas shopping in the 2 weeks before DD was born and this time I've still got 8.5 weeks to go and sometimes can't make it down the stairs! Plus DH claims he cannot find my exercise ball... I think he must have left some stuff in the garage at the old house. He's been online and ordered me a new one though... come on postie!! GrinFootball

Autumnsweater · 12/03/2017 21:40

wish that's awful. In many trusts you can self-refer to a physiotherapist and pregnant woman have priority. I know four different people in three different trusts who've self-referred and been seen within seven days! I'd assumed it would be longer hence why i tried a private one first.

I was given exercises and a support belt, sounds like mine is the opposite of powers though as I have overly flexible hips causing mine!

I think the mistake I made with the private one was that they weren't a maternity specialist as i couldn't find one in the area, sounds like power had a much more similar experience to my NHS one, so hopefully if you find the right one you'll be fine, good luck.

MrsJW15 · 12/03/2017 21:41

Gosh you do all talk a lot! Busy and quite stressful day of moving furniture and some hiccups caused by DHs work. But now we have this lovely day bed and some more flat arranging plans. Next thing is hospital bag so v interested in quantities of things you are all packing.

coxsorangepippin · 12/03/2017 22:03

Just been watching Call The Midwife - it's been a favourite for ages but this is the only series that has made me slightly weepy and where I've had to fast forward through the traumatic/surgical births! Anyone else find things like that get to them more than they used to?

yellowismyfavourite · 12/03/2017 22:16

cox I went to the cinema a few weeks ago to see Lion and sobbed from beginning to end. It was an emotional film but everyone else seemed to hold it together!!

Tickyboovicki · 12/03/2017 22:19

redblu I'd originally planned to leave at 38 weeks, then realised with how stressful my job is and a house move at some point it might be too much! Brought ML forward to 37 weeks and a weeks annual leave at 36 weeks, such a relief knowing I'll hopefully have some time before to get sorted.

I'm another one who should probably start thinking about hospital bag, so very interested to see what people are packing!

We got a load of newborn, 0-1 month and 0-3 month clothes really cheap from a woman at my other halfs work, so glad that everyone yesterday brought us bigger clothes as we have loads!

PowerofThree · 12/03/2017 23:17

Autumn you definitely sound like you have the opposite to me as my hips have apparently locked up and aren't moving properly let alone being flexible!

It's just so frustrating! Everything is taking twice as long, I can't bend down and I can't stay in one position for more than 20min without seizing up... I hope physio is working for those of you suffering similarly.

Starting to think about a hospital bag here but not got very far beyond thinking I should think about it...

lullaby23 · 13/03/2017 01:44

nurse I'm also having a planned CS, I am asking for baby to stay with me in recovery this time as he was whisked away last time. I don't know if this would be possible if baby has to go for medical checks on his heart in your case? I also have to request rooming in or they will stick her in the nursery Hmm

esme happy birthday to DD! I will be 36 weeks when DS turns 2 so really looking forward to his party Confused also canine teething here too.

I can't believe we're on thread 10, I keep wondering when "our" first baby will arrive but they move so quickly. Sweepstake anyone? Grin
