Im so sorry to here that i had a mmc last Aug but went the the medical managment which was horrible!!

I hope u dont mind me asking but did you feel like something wasnt right? Loss of symptoms or bleeding? Was there a reason for the early scan?

Hey All,

New to this group, but have been reading for several weeks now, so I already feel like I know so many of you! Due date is October 15th. Didn't want to post until my 1st midwife appointment, which was today. Although we didn't have a scan or anything like that, I felt reassured just to be able to talk to someone about what was happening. Helped it feel a lot more "real." My husband and I moved to Sweden 8 months ago, so it's a little intimidating facing a new healthcare system and navigating the language barrier (we speak very little Swedish.) I've been feeling a little bit low about it all. Seems similar to the UK though - scan at 12 weeks, unless you go private. Before the meeting, I was adamant I wanted an early private scan, but now I wonder if I'll bother, as it really won't change anything. It was just nice to talk to someone.

Nervous about work though, as it's very (mentally) demanding and I have been shattered for the last 3 weeks. How does everyone on here cope with juggling the symptoms with a full time job? Anyone dipped into taking time off?

I don't mind you asking. :) only sign was my sense of doom! Boobs sore, vaguely nauseous and very hungry. Feel like my body fools me. Happened last year at 12 weeks hence early 9wk scan today. At least I know now. I've not cried. Husband did. I think I was guarding my heart after last year. Had bad surgical experience last year but talked to nurse today and feel confident it will be better. They are doing it tomo so at least it's quick. Last time i had to go on postnatal as gynae was full and there was a cot in the room. Also emergencies meant I was pushed back 11 hours and passed out in the loo due to having had a pessary to start things off 10 hours earlier. It was awful. Tomo I'm sure will go more smoothly!!!

Oh wow rayna that is a gap!! How are you feeling about it?

My midwife text me today to confirm my scan is tomorrow. I'm half dreading it half looking forward to it and am not sure if it will reassuring or cause more anxiety!!

Kitkat welcome to the thread! I work full time and have a 50 mile car commute each way, so I already have a sick bowl that accompanies me in the car and a supply of sweets/ drink in case hunger strikes! I'm 10+2 today and have had 3 days in total where I've worked from home- I.e got up and felt so dire that I couldn't face the commute. Thankfully my manager is supportive of this and I work (slowly!) from the sofa. I recently learnt that if you work for the NHS then morning sickness doesn't count towards sick leave in terms of policy. Worth knowing! Xx

Feeling really crappy the last few days, vaguely nauseous all day every day, tired to the point where I have no idea how I'm making it through each day...making so many mistakes at work and it's stressing me out.

But like a lot of you I'm craving salt and vinegar everything!

Early scan next Wednesday 15th - time is dragging so slowly though it's really getting me down...don't think I even feel pregnant anymore, I'm genuinely terrified.

Thanks for your support. The news isn't great. Only measuring 7 weeks but should be nearly 10. No heart beat and it looks like the sac is collapsing. Going back for a scan next week to check but am in pain now. Midwife said the bleed could be a clot they identified below the sac but I'm not convinced. Just want to be done now so we can try again.

I'm sorry nanny. Take care of yourself. I almost find it more painful when medical professionals give you hope and say you could just have conceived later.

Re sick leave, I'm in the police and it's the same policy - as far as I'm aware that's widespread.

doomkitty that sounds lovely! I'm excited, if a little apprehensive about taking my DD. I'm going to be shattered after about 10mins! Not sure how I'll last the week.

Charmanar unless it's just my health board (NHS Wales) its in the maternity policy, my supervisor gave me a copy. Essentially if you're actually ill, i.e cold/flu then obviously it still counts but morning sickness shouldn't be considered as triggering the policy. (We're only allowed two incidences of sick leave a year before the policy is triggered, even if both incidences are just a day long so obviously I'm happy!)
