Classes have to be booked via phone and midwife only picks up phone for about an hour day :(

Seahawk80 · 16/03/2017 16:54

Just popping on to say you can get 20% off asos maternity with the code LITTLEONE got myself a "coatigan" as I was boiling in my coat today

ButterflyFree · 16/03/2017 17:35

Thank you @Seahawk80 @rhodes2015 @danigrace

Baby was extremely well behaved in today's scan and moved perfectly so the ultrasound technician could get every measurement and angle she needed. Thankfully everything is progressing perfectly.

It's a boy!! And we got the unexpected treat of seeing him in 4D today - fantastically happy with the clarity of the view despite only being 20 weeks. It was magical to see him moving around and he even flashed us a smile - clearly he was in a good mood after our babymoon too 😂💙

So far I've gained 4kg (I think that's around 8 pounds...?) but bump still isn't really showing at all. In fact I think all the extra weight has gone straight to my boobs - they're enormous and I've already outgrown the new bras I bought just 2 weeks ago to house my rapidly expanding chest 😩 no leakage thus far though.

rhodes2015 · 16/03/2017 17:42

Thanks seahawk just been on and got myself some very gross but comfy maternity bras..... I can't wait for them to come!

Ahh butterfly fantastic news! Congratulations! Scan pic is great!

Seahawk80 · 16/03/2017 17:59

Congrats @ButterflyFree !! So exciting!

Still don't know what we're having but midwife said heart rate is 150 so she'd guess girl. I'd love a girl but we can't agree on any names!

Ha ha @rhodes2015 - I should have got bras too. Might log back on. Was just so hot today and really don't want to pay for a maternity jacket so thought coatigan should
get me through to summer.

My sister told me that she's pregnant today. I ended up telling her our mum let it slip as I worried that my fake surprise might seem like I was being weird about it - like how dare you steal my thunder! So exciting although it will be a tight turnaround on the hand me downs - hopefully she doesn't need her maternity wardrobe back before July!

JellyBert · 16/03/2017 18:20

Hi everyone, if you want to join our (quiet) Facebook group message me your email address. There's on 25 of us so far!
I had my 20 week scan yesterday and unfortunately they couldn't get a look at the heart & face so I've got to go back 31st July. When I'll be 23+1! I'm pretty annoyed about that as I thought it would be next week at the latest. Feels like I have 100s of appointments this pregnancy, didn't have anything like this when I was pregnant first time round!
Hope you're all well x

Bawbles · 16/03/2017 20:59

damigrace the yoga helps, I just do one pregnancy yoga class per week plus an aquanatal and then running 3 mornings so a decent mix. I really look forward to the yoga and find it very relaxing and always feel 'better' afterwards.
Plan was to keep up with running until it doesn't feel comfy. I'm definitely slower but otherwise it still feels good so no immediate plans to stop.
We fetched pram fabrics tonight, the shop fitted them to check compatibility (we have older model pram) so I'm feeling organised now as that was the last big thing to sort.
Snuzpod is being delivered early June. Car seat and 2xisofix bases are at my mums ready. I have a new changing bag and got new 'hospital' bag.

Need to sort dd old newborn clothes but that can wait until after our Easter holiday.
I bought new sheets for pram and snuzpod as couldn't remember what I had in storage.
Oh and dp parents bought us a cool baby monitor which you can view via an iPhone app.
It works while you are out of house too so DP is happy that he'll be able to see baby napping when he's at work

danigrace · 16/03/2017 21:23

Lovely scan @ButterflyFree! Glad it all went nicely for you.

That's good the yoga helps @Bawbles, I'm thinking of going to the gym with DP and putting something interesting to listen to in my ears and running on the treadmill so I don't have to worry about getting injured on hills with no phone reception...

Although I've put on an alarming amount of weight Blush I have no flabby bits and my arms and thighs are still hard, although my bump is big as are my boobs! As long as I still have decent fitness and stamina (which I seem to up to now) then I don't mind. Keen to not let that slip bc as long as there are no issues I'd like to have a completely unmedicated homebirth...

Lallypopstick · 16/03/2017 21:41

My OH felt the kicks for the first time. It's so lovely to be able to share it with him.

Congrats on the little boy Butterfly

mcnics · 17/03/2017 09:28

Morning ladies! Off to my 25 week midwife appointment this morning. Any questions I should be asking? Want to get my MAT B1 form as HR are nagging for it!

DrewOB0 · 17/03/2017 09:59

It's funny how much antenatal care varies per county. I have no more scans and no midwife appointment between 16-28 weeks :s

mcnics · 17/03/2017 10:14

Apparently I got one at 25 weeks because it's my pregnancy, otherwise they would leave it until 28 weeks.

Baby boy is "perfect" the midwife said, bump measured 24cm and heart rate was spot on. He started acting up when we were listening to him, speeding his heart rate up and hitting out where the midwife was trying to listen 😂

mcnics · 17/03/2017 10:17

Sorry that should read -*my first pregnancy

DrewOB0 · 17/03/2017 10:18

mcnics you get additional GP appointments at my PCT

danigrace · 17/03/2017 10:56

@Lallypopstick that's lovely ❤ My DH was amazed when he first felt ours (evening of 1st March, recorded in my pg journal lol) and was really surprised at how 'strong' it was, he commented 'wow so you can actually really feel that can't you?!' errr yeah!! Haha. He now regularly enjoys feeling baby go crazy at bedtime, I'm only 21 weeks at the moment so I'm intrigued to see how much stronger and crazy they can actually get!! Is anyone else surprised by the amount of aerobics going on in there?? Or was I just naively underestimating? Lol

Glad your mw appointment went well @mcnics!

Need to pop into Boots today to pick up a breast pump I ordered - wanted the medela swing so was keeping an eye out for offers - it's on Boots website atm for £99.99 (reduced from £134.99) and I found a £10 off £60 spend code online making it £89.99 then paid most of the balance with gift vouchers I've won and been saving Grin Cost £15 in cash in the end (or £3.09 if you count the extra baby club Boots advantage points earned plus a points offer loaded to my card piggy backed on!). Really pleased.

mcnics · 17/03/2017 11:06

@danigrace Thanks! Yes, I honestly didn't realise that some of the movements would be so violent! It honestly feels like he is having a party in there! He is going right now, and he seems to "act out" mostly when I am actually meant to be doing something, as if to be like "hey, pay attention to me" haha

I really need to start thinking about getting things like breast pumps etc, but I just haven't even looked. What made you decide on the medela swing model?

mcnics · 17/03/2017 11:08

Also - Baby showers - has anyone started thinking about theirs? My step mum and cousin are wanting to organise mine and we have so far agreed on a date, but how do you go about deciding who to invite? I don't want to offend anyone by not inviting them, but worrying that the guestlist might get a bit out of hand!

Also a little bit tricky with my step mum organising it as I am sure that my mum is going to be a bit offended, but she lives so far away that she wouldn't be able to organise it :/ any advice?

danigrace · 17/03/2017 11:35

@mcnics haha glad it's not just me!! I decided on that one bc it's one that's constantly getting recommended to me (I'm lucky to have lots of diff mummy friends many in their own separate mummy clubs) and that one is the most frequently recommended by a long way. Then when I did a bit if my own research it got gold in mother & baby awards and is best rated on Amazon too. I also have bad wrists so having a good electric one was important to me.
Re. the baby showers how about saying you're happy for them to do you one but you don't want to be involved in any planning etc and would rather they just surprised you with it as you trust them & so you don't have to stress about it? That way if anyone isn't invited it wasn't anything to do with you lol.
That's what my little sis is doing for me, she knows who my close friends and family members are and will invite them. We also live in a cute but very little cottage and are lucky enough to have everything we need taken care of so I've asked for prem clothes / blankets that I'll donate to the local neonatal unit bc when you say no gifts that never works and my sister and friends got sooo much lovely stuff at their showers but a) we don't need anything and b) we honestly have nowhere to put it all so it makes sense to give to babies that do need rather than this lucky one that doesn't!!

DrewOB0 · 17/03/2017 11:36

I'm not having one. Only got very few female friends and no family nearby.

ButterflyFree · 17/03/2017 11:52

Thank you @rhodes2015 @danigrace @Seahawk80 @Lallypopstick - so so happy with the scan and I keep playing the 4D video over and over again on my phone. DH has made one of the stills the wallpaper on his iPhone too 😍💙 Baby fever over here haha.

Mine is also very actively kicking and wiggling around, perhaps he's going to follow in the footsteps of his father and become a footballer 😂 he gets particularly excitable with his movements when DH plays or sings 'One Dance' by Drake - he kicks in time to the beat, without fail!! Very amusing.

ButterflyFree · 17/03/2017 11:58

@mcnics I agree with @danigrace's advice re: baby shower; letting them get on with the planning as a 'surprise' takes all the responsibility off your shoulders. Maybe if your mum feels left out we could let her and my mum plan a smaller one for both of us so they can feel more involved 😂

My in-laws have been planning a joint baby shower for my brother-in-law's wife and me, but we've just had very worrying news about her today. Her waters broke last night (PPROM) at just 25 weeks 😰 The first hospital she went to (we are in UAE) said she must deliver now, but she quite rightly refused and has been transferred to another hospital. Luckily she didn't lose ALL her amniotic fluid so there's still a chance of keeping the baby inside for a while longer. They're pumping her full of steroids to try and speed up baby's lung development so that he would have a better chance of survival outside the womb. Hopefully she won't lose any more fluid, and she's in the right place to be looked after and monitored closely now, but it must be so scary for her. It's her first pregnancy too and she's 23.

danigrace · 17/03/2017 12:51

@ButterflyFree gosh that's scary! I hope all goes as well as possible for your SIL and baby is okay.
That's so cute your baby has a fave song Grin

mynameisntLinda · 17/03/2017 13:13

@DrewOB0 don't worry too much. I didn't make any mumfriends at antenatal or groups and none of myfriends have kids. My 2 best mum friends are from mumsnet so there may be people in here that you'll meet. Were actually having a mum date at my house next week whilst the kids run riot...in my house lol

@danigrace if it makes you feel any better a lot of the weight might not be actual weight gain.
1.5 pounds the placenta

7 pounds maternal stores of fat, protein, and other nutrients
7.5 pounds your average full-term baby
2 pounds breast tissue (we know it feels like so much more!)
4 pounds increased fluid volume
4 pounds increased blood volume
2 pounds the uterus
2 pounds amniotic fluid
Total = 30 pounds

I think I gained about 3 stone first time round and lost about 2 stone within the first 2-3 months (no exercise and wasn't eating very healthy so i'll thank breastfeeding for the calorie burning)

I had a baby shower first time round which mil organised at her house and invited all the female relatives and some of my friends. I didn't want one this time really because i feel like its just an excuse to get people to buy you stuff, which i don't really like, but she said that was ridiculous and people would want to come anyway. I also have a friend currently struggling with IVF and another who miscarried with me last year who still hasn't conceived so I feel a bit odd about celebrating my pregnancy. I've said she can organise one (because she's very excited about it) but that I want it clear that I don't want any gifts.
She wants to actually hire somewhere this year for everyone to come to. I find it a bit odd organising your own baby shower but in America that's how they usually do it I think.

CatRash · 17/03/2017 13:30

Drew I'm not planning on having a baby shower either - just not really my thing - too much fluff for my liking! Most my friends are blokes too so that would be interesting Grin

Second 20 week scan today...hoping baby cooperates this time. Wonder what happens if not - do you think I'd just have to keep going back and getting scanned until they've got all the measurements??? It's all of the heart measurements they couldn't get so i imagine quite an important part!

DrewOB0 · 17/03/2017 13:37

Hey cat I was sent out of room for coffee and told to come back for rescan
