We use non bio anyway, and white vinegar as a softener (gunks things up less than fabric conditioners). Astonish oxy plus is great for poo and food stains (when we get that far), as is sunlight.

glitterglitters · 13/03/2017 08:55

Sunlight is brilliant for poo stains! I use a spray for particularly stubborn ones but the only thing that really is a bugger to clean is banana. That stuff does NOT shift 😂

I've bought a few nicer bits maternity wise this time. A lot of my stuff from my first pregnancy is really stretched out and so I've treated myself to some new jeans and a couple of dresses from Boohoo and Topshop (I didn't even know Boohoo did maternity!)

glitterglitters · 13/03/2017 09:00

Here's a random question. With my first I really struggled to get my shoes on after a while and ended up living in my Ugg boots. Now I know that people don't like ugg boots but when comfort is key they definitely tick the boxes.

Would it be complete overkill to buy another pair with the idea I'll probably not be able to tie my laces soon. Or will I look like a total prat in 2017 😂🙈

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 13/03/2017 09:07

Glitters I live in doc martens but I've bought a pair of slip on shoes for when I inevitably can't tie my boots anymore!

glitterglitters · 13/03/2017 09:11

@thumbsupforthesixbillion thanks! I feel a bit silly to have to ask but it feels a tad frivolous to spend £150 on some boots because they slip on. I love Doc Martens. We have an outlet in my city and I love going and having a nose at them :)

Spindelina · 13/03/2017 09:13

I'm waiting for it to be warm enough to be socially acceptable to wear slip-on sandals.

wildone81 · 13/03/2017 10:10

I'm counting down to sandal appropriate weather, and I'm on the hunt for a nice pair that don't have fiddly buckles that I'll struggle to reach!

DrewOB0 · 13/03/2017 11:14

Another one wishing the weather would pick up as I can't button my coat anymore!

LuciBee231015 · 13/03/2017 11:40

I can't wait for the warm weather, but that means my Casper white legs have to come out! Think I may have to invest in a tinted moisteriser and start building up a bit of a gradual tan, I'm so pale it's unbelievable!

Lallypopstick · 13/03/2017 11:41

Spindelina and Glitter - when you say sunlight, you mean the actual sun, right? I'm not missing out on some fab cleaning product to rival Stardrops??

Spindelina · 13/03/2017 11:52

Yeah, light from the sun. Specifically UV I think.

Notyetthere · 13/03/2017 12:01

Rhodes thank you! We found the shelves already installed by the last owner. In fact, he was very handy round the house that he built this kind of thing everywhere where there was a nook and cranny. Dh and I are not really that handy; we are learning a lot from FIL though.

Kits I am using non-bio washing powder. Whichever is on sale really. 1st batch of washing was the muslins which at the time I used Tesco’s owned non-bio. The recent baby clothes I used fairy non-bio because it was on sale at the time.

Glitter my first maternity dress was from boohoo. I just googled maternity dresses and boohoo came top of the search at the time. I haven’t bought many maternity outfits, I have found that most of my existing dresses are either empire line or slightly loose where I previously wore a cinching belt. DO NOT GET UGGS! They are my house shoes as the tiled floor is very cold. Like Thumbs, I would get slip on boots. Try new look, I have a lovely pair of slip on boots from there. I also bought a zip up pair which is also quite easy to get on.

My HR have rejected my MATB1 form. As suspected, it was issued too early. Now I have to see midwife again just to get a form. Gah!

glitterglitters · 13/03/2017 12:23

@Notyetthere haha! I won't I won't!

glitterglitters · 13/03/2017 12:24

@Lallypopstick yep. Just let them go the line and it'll bleach out the stains. Also good for anything musty and whiffy!

LuciBee231015 · 13/03/2017 12:45

How can HR reject your form? I don't get it?

Notyetthere · 13/03/2017 12:55

Luci My MATB1 was issued to me during the 16 week appointment. . Even the midwife I spoke to today on the liaison phone number was quite disappointed in my midwife for having issued it earlier. Another midwife that I saw on Friday for my 24 week appointment did mention that before 20 weeks it might be invalid. It must be something to do with your work taking a pregnancy as viable after 20 wks.

OP posts:
Seahawk80 · 13/03/2017 14:10

I think with the matB form it is to do with the fact that after 24 weeks you are entitled to maternity leave. Sorry to be morbid but as far as I know 24 weeks is where it changes from a miscarriage to a stillbirth.

To end on a more positive note I have 60 days left at work after today totally didn't come in and count first day back after holiday

DrewOB0 · 13/03/2017 14:59

85 days here!
Can't get through to midwife again, then they wonder why I don't talk to them or book classes.

Notyetthere · 13/03/2017 15:08

Aaah Sea that is what I meant but you explained it more concisely Wink.

Let me do a count of my days left. This is exciting.

mynameisntLinda · 13/03/2017 15:17

Hi @MummaDevon welcome to the group we havea facebook group too, if you want to join send me your name on dm and i'll add you.

Flapper do you know if you're having a girl or boy? sorry if you've said I can't remember. If you don't think it weird I may have handme downs I could post to you if it would help?
I was very fortunate with my first that as the first of the generation we were spoilt with clothes and baby related stuff so we spent very little money. will be tightening our belts this time because i'll be on minimum mat leave which is about £139 a month or something and i'll still have to pay for the 2 year old to go to the childminders which is £38 a day (along with all the other usual life related bills)

Re washing stuff....I won't be washing any stuff (unless it's second hand). Didn't wash anything first time round either. seemed pointless.
I destashed my cloth nappy supply so i'm torn between buying more cloth or just going straight to disposables. unsure between having AIO system or seperates like terry's and nappy covers... or do I just use disposable argh the choices.

mynameisntLinda · 13/03/2017 15:17

One thing I'll be treating newbie to is a baby grasping toy from Grimms. Bought my son the Grims 12 piece rainbow the other week and now i'm hooked and want more lovely wooden toys.

Notthereyet you'll be having another mw appointment anyway wont you? just get your form then. I won't be getting mine until the 20th April and you'll have loads of time to pass it on to HR i'm sure.no point making a special trip.

Who asked about placenta? A couple from my first mumsnet group did it.. but i'm yet to find any scientific study that suggests I should eat it, and seen as chimpanzees don't do it and their one of our closest relatives I defo won't be doing it. Rochelle from the Saturdays has just had hers made into capsules though and had a picture made with the umbilical cord too (totally not up my steet but each to their own)

mynameisntLinda · 13/03/2017 15:20

Yeah that's right Sea Notthere, until 25weeks its a miscarriage and not a stillbirth. You don't even get a death certificate before 25weeks.
Also, if you get signed off sick for something they can make you start your mat leave early instead of sick pay if your far enough along.

Seahawk80 · 13/03/2017 15:34

linda the standard mat pay is £139 a week not month - just in case you didn't know. I just checked as I nearly had a heart attack when you said that!

My work are so inflexible and unhelpful, I'm really on countdown now - exciting isn't it!

Notyetthere · 13/03/2017 15:37

Here are my figures;

94 days left till maternity leave with my last day 16th June at 38wks.

13 weeks of work left including this week.

61 days of work left when you take weekends, banks holidays and annual leave.

What is more alarming is that I have less than 100 days left and I didn't realise. Last time I checked I had so many days over 100 that it seemed to be so far into the future.

Not long at all. I have lots of work I want to finish before I go on maternity leave. I doubt I will manage to finish it all. Sea I’m glad you made me do the count as now I feel more focused on getting this project wrapped up in time.

Linda I had my 24 wk appointment last week. I am to see the midwife again in April at 28ks which I think will be pushing it. I have called liaison and they reckon my midwife should be able to issue a replacement and leave it at my local surgery for me to collect.

OP posts:
mcnics · 13/03/2017 15:59

Taking out my annual leave and bank hols I only have 56 days left with my last day also being 16th June notyetthere snap!

flapper we haven't really spent any money yet other than on a travel system that was on offer on bounty (only £200 for car seat, buggy, travel cot etc etc), we have been super lucky in OH old manager donating us an almost new ikea cot, bouncing chair, mobile and some clothes, and his aunt sending us a cute little set. Other than that we literally have spent no money, and plan on spending very little.

We are moving into a new house together in beginning of June and will need to spend a little to get it ready, but again, not alot. Plus, we only found out we were pregnant at 18 weeks so we lost quite a bit of saving / prep time! I will also only be getting standard maternity pay, and OH doesn't earn a great deal (infact I am the bread winner!) so will have to go back to work in late Jan once work has calmed down a bit. (I work for a rapidly growing independent online retailer so Christmas would not be an ideal time to go back to work - and selfishly I want to have one Christmas off with my little one!)

I've been keeping an eye out of freecycle and gumtree just incase anything comes up that might be useful..

My little boy has really stepped it up a gear with the movements now - I can feel him just after I eat every time, even when walking around now. He must be destined to be a swimmer with the tumble turns, or maybe following his dad's karate love with the kicks he is giving me! OH and I could see my belly being given a beating the other morning with it going in all sorts of weird shapes - like something out of a sci-fi film!! Has anyone else got a future sportsman/woman on their hands??
