Just found this (pic attached) it might help a few ppl as I was wondering what to put on baby at night time!

@natienka I've got a few bumgenius freestyles and a few cheapies. I use them mainly for backups if I'm honest but I want to give it a good go this time. It's so tricky though as there are so many types. I filled in a questionnaire on The Nappy Lady's site and they emailed some free recommendations based on my dd and our lifestyle etc.

glitterglitters · 12/03/2017 09:19

@LuciBee231015 those are so helpful. Dd was born in a heatwave and our bedroom would get up to 30 degrees. I nearly had a nervous breakdown trying to work out how to dress her 🙈

CatRash · 12/03/2017 09:49

Love the green one nat!!! I love Choices!! I've already bought quite a few bits from there for baby - as we're not finding out the sex it means i cant go too overboard though!!

Notyetthere · 12/03/2017 10:14

Luci that is very useful. Thank you! I have printed it out and stuck it in baby's wardrobe.

Nat those are very pretty. Loving the green one. We do have a choice in our high street but I have never gone into it. I might go in just to see what I can get there.

Sea you hit the nail on head. I stopped comparing myself to other people a long time ago. You always feel worse if you do it. Someone out there is richer than you, thinner than you, prettier than you, cleverer than you, more successful in job/personal life than you, better husband than you (love my dh very much and I wouldn't swap him for anybody but it's all about perception), bigger house than you, nicer car than you and so on - you get the drift. You have to enjoy what you have. Life is too short. I drive my very old car on lovely country rds to the station and on sunny mornings I am grateful for having a lovely part of my commute. Probably the best 10mins of most of my days. I celebrate the journey, not feel sorry for myself in the old car. The old car has enabled this 10mins. This thread has people from all walks of life, and I accept that some will be wealthier than others so their spending on baby will differ wildly; nothing to do with being materialistic. If I earned loads of course I might have ended up with a few of the £45 m&p outfits. If I like the look of them then why not? I wouldn't judge anybody for it. If anything, I like to see what everyone has got, bargains or not, new or 2nd hand, heck I have even bagged mysekf some good deals that have been recommended here. It is all part of an exciting journey that we are embarking on. In this, we are all the same.

Thanks not - the husband bit made me laugh, right now I'm very envious of all the people with DH/DPs that are doing diy and practical things! Mine is not that way inclined.
However he does empty the bins / do the washing / washing up...in fact most of the household jobs. Everyone has their strengths!

Flappergirl86 · 12/03/2017 10:30

nat that green baby grow is such a nice print! Would wear it myself if I could!

wildone your homemade mermaid outfit thing is a stroke of genius, I wish I could sew so badly. I'm awful at it.

Here's some of my favourite stupidly kitsch baby outfits -I made a 'coming home' ensemble for either a boy or a girl before knowing what we were having. They came from my best friends family baby clothes archive because none of her many brothers and sisters wanted vintage baby clothes.

I love anything knitted. My baby is gonna look like a Werthers original Grandma.

Hi mummadevon we've got the same due date! X

natienka · 12/03/2017 11:03

flapper haha love that analogy ;) knitted items have such cute look, somehow don't have any yet! might see if I can get something for the winter...

And yes I'd totally wear that green print myself. Gutted that they had only tiny baby and first size, took first size and hoping my baby won't be more than 8lb (!!!) so that at least I can bring him home in that Grin

Notyetthere · 12/03/2017 11:10

Flapper lovely outfits! I havent put together any going home outfits yet. I had a long sleeved vest that I bought from boots that I like more than the others but it is tiny so it might not suit.

Finished the bare bones of the nursery. A few personal touches remaining to give some personality. Dh suggested some pink accents in their somewhere. Maybe a pink blossom decal on the grey wall.

Just lost my whole blood post!! Silly MN app!!

Love your drawer dividers not! Really appeals to my OCD side!!

My craft stuff has been quite mixed. I love knitting, crochet and sewing so tend to alternate between them. I've done a few jumpers, cardigans and hats etc and my mum has gone mad too! My favourite thing so far has been a pair of dungarees which are made out of a pair of DH's old work chinos. Not just need to make another pair for the other twin! Think I might make the next set out of a pair of blue chinos so they aren't quite the same!

Blue the dividers are from ikea. For £6 you get lots of them. I can imagine losing all the socks and mittens in a large drawer so these seemed like a brilliant idea.

Glitter thank you. I was planning on a 2nd hand and up cycling it myself but then I saw this one on the bounty app. I had to have it.

Love the vintage outfits flapper! My sister has 2 girls and they often wear outfits that my mum made us when we were small - I really hope I have a girl so that I can use them!

Bawbles · 12/03/2017 12:34

Good job on the bundlers wildone I have half a dozen white Babygap ones from DD and they were so useful for those early days and nights. I used to love tickling her feet while feeding her too. I washed mine last week along with bibs and muslins but am yet to look out the old babygrows and vests.
I've not bought any clothes this time apart from a pack of cotton hats as have so much from DD. She was a winter baby though so I'll need a lightweight cardi for coming home but otherwise we have enough newborn/unisex stuff to get us through the first few months.

LuciBee231015 · 12/03/2017 18:56

Love the nursery not!

rhodes2015 · 12/03/2017 19:20

Aww not nursery is looking great!
What handy shelves in your cupboard.
Cot looks beautiful! Like your dh idea of the pink blossom on the grey wall, that will look lovely!

Kitsandkids · 12/03/2017 19:27

People who have started washing baby clothes, what detergent are you using? Is there a special 'baby clothes' one I should buy?

LuciBee231015 · 12/03/2017 20:46

I've got fairy non bio and then comfort pure (the white one)

My Moses basket should be delivered this week, can't wait.

I've ordered a few maternity bits as well so hopefully they will come, I went out with my friends on Friday and I felt so fat and ugly it was horrible. I'm literally piling on pounds, need to start eating a bit better I've been really bad the past 2 weeks. My face is starting to puff out 😳. Just feeling a bit gross about myself at the moment, need to make more of an effort.

glitterglitters · 12/03/2017 20:47

I've been shovelling all sorts in. For dinner tonight I made pancakes. 🙊

I bought Asda's Little Angels at first but non-bio should be ok.

:)

rhodes2015 · 12/03/2017 21:06

Same here luci I went to my DH's cousins 21st birthday last Saturday (I'm 32) and felt old, fat, ugly and realllly unfashionable Confused
I went into town this morning to get some comfortable jegging things as really short on stuff to wear but I came home with a pair of pjs Grin

Bawbles · 13/03/2017 07:21

Nursery is looking lovely not

I started using non bio for DD clothes as newborn but I vaguely recall some article saying that modern washing machines have such effective rinse cycles that it doesn't make a difference as so little remains on fabric.

I ended up using bio wash powder and vanish quite quickly for dd as it was the only thing that lifted the poo stains. She never reacted to wash powders/fabric conditioners.

I've bought heaps of maternity clothes this time around. Lots of nice work dresses plus casual stuff then plenty of lounging leggings/oversized tshirt combinations. Even got a decent selection of nightwear and a hoody and smart coat

I remember feeling so fed up and frumpy in my past pregnancy as by the end I as so sick of wearing the same few outfits but didnt want to buy new with only a few weeks left.

I'm going away at Easter so need to check I have plenty of holiday options too - it's a great excuse to shop
