Good Morning! Now that I have been 'outed' the whole world and his wife knows! I live in a very small expat Community over here....

I have cravings - very very boring ones in fact. Basmati rice with a little of bit of chilli! How absolutely bloody boring!

Anyway I saw my Dr yesterday - I have to do my bloods this morning - yuk - and then the first scan is next week. Rather excited!

Oh and I did a very strange thing yesterday - I had my hair done - which in my terms means colur, highlights etc but then I cut off 5 inches! At the age of 34yrs I now have short hair - well shoulder length. I look really mumsy - oh dear.....

Hope you are all feeling well.

SparklyGothKat · 24/03/2007 10:50

I have woken up today with a swollen throat, a bunged up nose and I feel poo. With MS on top of that, I think I might just die...

alittlebitshy · 24/03/2007 12:51

Very kind! Thank you my 'loopy' twin!

SparklyGothKat · 25/03/2007 21:25

My face has got very spotty. And I look drained. I also have a cold, which makes me look so lovely with a spotty face and a red nose I am still feeling sick all day, and have to eat regularly to settle my stomach.
How is everyone else doing?

nykate · 25/03/2007 21:39

alittlebitshy- I'm so sorry ! Take care of yourself.

Jonze- I'm expecting my 3rd and feel like I totally show! I didn't need stretchy waists until 22 weeks with dd1 and a few weeks less than dd2. Now I feel like I need to unbutton my pants by lunchtime! The only difference between my belly right now and my belly when I was 5mos pg with dd is that it's not hard!

SparklyGothKat · 25/03/2007 22:44

Is anyone finding that they have to eat lots to stop feeling sick? I have eat about every 2 hours, even if its just biscuits.

iris66 · 26/03/2007 09:27

morning all

SGK - I'm full of cold too and having to eat for Britain to stop the nausea I ended up in maternity trousers yesterday afternoon I was so bloated I know it's my third but the size of my stomach is getting ridiculous - nykate I know exactly what you mean!!!

apeainapod - where do you live that you're expat? We're hoping not to tell people until DH gets back from his work trip at the end of April but I'm going to have to either go into hiding or start wearing lots of very baggy clothes & coats so nobody guesses!

superloopy - hi there Australia! wow - how wonderful! where are you moving to?

Hope the weather stays nice this week. It's been really mild here lately. We had a great weekend faffing in the garden then went out for lunch yesterday followed by a lovely long walk with DS & the dog. Hoping to get all my laundry done today to keep busy (bit emotional over DH going away - counting the days already)
Anyway - best go - DS is having a grump. Bye for now.

tryingfortwo · 26/03/2007 09:32

I'm so sorry alittlebitshy.

Well I did pretty well considering champagne was being drunk from about 10am, wasn't till about half 9 that night that one of my friends who also has children noticed and asked me straight out, I admitted it and she ended up telling the bride after I went to bed as I got a congrats in the morning from her. I don't mind them knowing, I would have probably just announced it if it wasn't for the fact one of the other bridesmaids has had a tough time with two mc over the last couple of years so didn't want to bring it all up and chance it ruining her day.

Certainly wasn't the wedding weekend I'd been planning though, early to bed and sober was not what I had hoped for, nice and cheap check out right enough as the bar bill was non existent.

My tiredeness has definitely started, no great nausea as yet but then last time morning sickness wasn't a big problem either.

apeainapod · 26/03/2007 10:29

Good Morning - what an awful weekend. I feel absolutely terrible, even though a few days ago I was saying that all was going well. I feel sick all day, and, yes, SGK I really am now eating pretty much 24 hours a day to sop it - normally Ready Salted Squares!!! or really anything I can get my hands on. And I could sleep for Britain - I am SOOOOOO tired. Being number 4 I really thought I would be fine but honestly this is ridiculous. I didn't have so much as a whiff of any symptoms with numbers DS1 AND DS2 and just a couple of weeks of niggling nausea with DD, number 3. Maybe it's twins x dd! What an awful prospect....Anyway I digress.......

I have definitely outgrown my normal jeans and trousers, which is really depressing as my Doctor on Friday said that my uterus hadn't even popped out yet! - in other words love you're just fat! Bugger..

Iris - I am in Accra, Ghana - where it is too bloody hot! We have been for 9 years. I saw somewhere that somebody else is moving here in April - FuenP - she last posted in December so now of course I cannot get hold of her! I shall return to the UK (yippee!!!!!!!!!) for 7 weeks in the Summer and then from the end of September til January (even more yippee!!!!!!!!).

alittlebitshy - if you are still 'popping over' I am so sorry .

I have my booking in appointment!!! Its on the 11th april I phoned them to see what was happening and my letter had gone to the wrong address!!!!! So have sorted it out now, and I will be seen at the correct hospital.

Jonze · 26/03/2007 20:25

I have my booking appointment for May 4, when I'll be 12 weeks. Is this normal?

This is very different that my last birth (private), where I had 2 scans by the 12 weeks point. Making me a bit nervous to have to wait until 12 weeks to even hear the baby's hearbeat. I may chicken out and just book in with my private ob.

iris66 · 26/03/2007 20:39

SGK - congratulations! - must be a huge weight off your shoulders

Jonze - 12 weeks for the first scan is pretty usual. Harsh as it sounds I think it's because most spontaneous MCs occur before 12 wks so chances are they're going to be looking at/showing parents a bean that's more likely than not to go full term (there's also a funding issue attached to that...but don't get me started!!)
For some reason my local health authority has shifted scan time to 10 weeks (more accurate dating??) so I'm hoping to hear about an appointment soon for in 2 weeks. The waiting is awful though - I empathise - though I still feel disconcerted about subjecting my LOs to scans anyway so the fewer the better IMO (for me anyway)

Loopymumsy- This is my first baby in the UK. How do I know if I will receive more than one scan? I see the midwife for the first time at 10 weeks...do I ask then or is there someone I should contact to find out? Just concerned about what you said about some trusts doing 1 scan at 16wks. My oldest dd was diagnosed with a birth defect (through a scan at 22 weeks) that wouldn't have necessarily been caught at that time and I would be really nervous if I only had 1 scan at 16wks. Gosh, there's so much to worry about, isn't there?!

Hello to all of you, please may i join in.
I am 6+1(due nov 19th), i already have ds who will be 3 next week.
The last couple of days i have felt like absolute cr*p...nausea,cough & cold, spots, tired i have even done a sickie from work 2day but now i am feeling very guilty about it...should i?

apeainapod · 27/03/2007 10:11

Hi Woody2!

Do you really have to wait that long with the NHS? Wow I had no idea.

I am lucky here that we can have a scan whenever we want to because it is a walk in clinic that serves all hospitals and clinics - normally I do it just before we fly back so I actually - just as a paranoid ritual!! I have my first scan here this week, and then when we fly back to London on April 23 I will have the 11 week "full monty". We will also find out the sex, unless legs are crossed - the boys have already named the 'cashew' Charlie and it WILL be a boy, because they already have a baby sister and they don't want another one. I didn't realise babies were made to order that easily.
