I never even asked for extra drugs I was quite happy on the G&A, I just wanted her to examine me.

I suppose I have, but you forget it when you see your baby. I had a good deliverly with DD1 even though she was early, though very very fast, 2 hours from start to finish. I didn;t like the fact I had to lay on my back but I know they had to keep a close eye on her heartrate. DS was a c/section which was lovely too, as I had the midwife I had seen throughout my pregnancy and she made me feel very relaxed.

I am a strong person, I have to be having 2 disabled kids You learn to fight the important things, and forget the things that aren't.

AnnainNZ · 27/04/2007 07:01

On a big high, just had my first scan and how amazing is it? I know everyone says it's great seeing the baby on the monitor for the first time but I didn't really realise how very very very very VERY great it would be! Such amazing detail - I'm 12 + 5, apparently. The nuchal fold results were very positive too. It was a bit of a weird day as it would have been my dad's birthday (he died last year) so it was a bit emotional but in a good way in the end - even though my dad's gone I've got this new life starting. What a fantastic feeling...

HollyGoHeavily · 27/04/2007 11:05

That's graet news AnnainNZ - i've got my first scan next Friday and i'm feeling really nervous. I can't wait so see my baby for the first time but i'm also a bit scared.

Your name has made me curious - are you from New Zealand?

AnnainNZ · 27/04/2007 11:46

I'm English (from Manchester originally) but have lived in NZ for the last 6 years. It was the only name I could think of quickly when I was registering! NOt that imaginative really.

I was quite nervous about the scan too, in case we got any worrying results. The woman who did the scan really put me at ease though and it was so amazing to see the baby on the monitor. He/she was doing somersaults apparently! Try to relax and enjoy it, though I know it's easy to worry - I was both excited and really apprehensive.

Well done Anna, it is the most amazing feeling isn't it. I'm still buzzing from my NF scan on Wednesday, its a real person now that sucks it thumb and sticks its tongue out and wriggles to get comfy

SparklyGothKat · 27/04/2007 12:25

I didn't have a NF scan, I was only 9+5 week when I had my dating scan, should I ask for another??

I think they do it with the double blood test here. Bugger wanted another scan lol

Pheebe · 27/04/2007 13:45

I had to go private for my nf scan. it cost us 156 quid which before I went I thought was extortionate but actually it was worth every penny. I got to watch bub for over 20 minutes compared with 2 at the NHS scan and got some fab pics as well. Afterwards I felt much much more reassured that everything was OK, they even checked all round my uterus and ovaries and bits while they were there! (sorry if TMI but I was well impressed)

Hi all,

Having just returned from 3 weeks in the UK - what fabulous weather you all had - feeling rather deflated to be back in the 'normal' routine.

Anyway - happy, and sad, to hear your news. I hope by now most of the MS has disappeared - I'm glad to say mine vanished 3 days into our leave which was fabulous!! I had the full on scan last Tuesday, appears to be a healthy little baby - with no parts that resemble a boy!!! Also the due date is Nov 7 - 3 days earlier than expected, which is good. I am now 12 + 1 and weigh the same as DD1 at 20 weeks OOOOPS. Back on the treadmill tomorrow for an hour of 'power walking' whilst watching glorious daytime TV!!!!

Hi!

I just joined today. I'm at 12 weeks and a few days, due more or less November 10th with my fir. So far so good... except that the baby's father lives in Ireland and I'm in the US and I have no idea where I'll be for the birth and just after, or how I'm going to make a living, or what's going to happen with this relationship (although it's very good so far).

I had some nausea but only lost my cookies once... then I got food poisoning one day, but otherwise it's been fine. I was also really tired, but that seems to be getting better, too. I pracitce aikido... normally. Lately I haven't been making it to class much, but I'm hoping to be able to work out semi-normally in the second trimester.

This looks like a nice forum -- glad I finally decided to sign up.

Oh hello!! WAVES

I just found this thread so thought i should join in

I'm 9+6 and due on 27 November 2007. I'm also a "mature" mother (i'm 39). Well, I say mature, but i mean that in the physical sense, deffo not in the mental sense!

I have a 16 year old boy from a previous relationship, who is (thankfully) very pleased at the news of him getting a new brother/sister.

My DP and I are really looking forward to the dating scan so we can see our little one and get our nuchal measurements etc.

We are both VERY excited!!

Pheebe · 30/04/2007 18:49

FCH · 01/05/2007 10:08

Hi all!

I have been all over the place recently so have been catching up with your news.

I went for what should have been my 12 week scan on Friday but as I was abroad at 12 weeks I was actually 13+1. It was just amazing watching the baby wriggle around to get comfortable and seeing its brain and stomach and kidneys and tiny tiny little feet!! The whole thing was brilliant particularly as we were lucky enough to have a midwife who does all their ultrasound training and was just incredibly good at explaining what we could see on the screen. The best bit was the look on hubby's face when we saw it move for the first time though - he practically jumped out of his chair!!

It is really really good to have got this far and had a positive scan so I told people at work this morning and it has been so nice as everyone is so excited, in fact more so than I expected as I work in a very male-dominated environment - but there are quite a few young dads who were really good about it.

I just feel such an enormous sense of relief, which is really odd as I didn't really realise I was fretting before!

Hope you are all well

tryingfortwo · 01/05/2007 15:02

Hi, sorry haven't been on for a while, been pretty busy trying to organise everything for our holidays.

Hi to all new members.

Had a scan last week, and everything was fine. dates more or less right, they had 9+4 while I'm certain it was 10. Had some more spotting last night though, fresher pink blood and brown today. Flying for 9 hours tomorrow so i'm a bit worried about everything.

Good luck everyone for the next couple of weeks, hope everyone keeps well and all your scans go well.

RGPargy · 01/05/2007 15:35

Wow FCH, sounds fabulous!! I've got my first scan on 14th May and we're really really really excited about it (and a little nervous too!).

Cant wait to see our baby on screen!
