tryingfortwo · 13/04/2007 10:05

welcome minxy and choudru

think the tiredeness is leaving me finally.

so glad to hear I'm not the only one with dread of going into hospital again. My first was a nightmare nearly 24 hours ending in an emergency cesearean. She was 10lb 3 and i was recommended by my lovely consultant to have an ecs if I ever got pregnant again. Any ideas why this might be. I don't have an appointment with my mw for another 2 weeks.

Also hated, really hated my hospital experience, dirty hospital, midwifes who were either neurotic or uncaring, very few inbetween. the nursing was awful. my actual midwife during the birth was horrible, after the section she made out like she was doing me a favour washing me and then left me with blood all over my gown for visitors to come see me. My milk took a couple of days to come through and so dd cried constantly for 2 days and it wasnt till the 3rd night (actually 5th night for me with no sleep due to long labour) when an older mw came in, saw the state of me, ordered me in to bed and took my dd to give me a couple of hours sleep. I could go on and on. anyone else get a bed sore from giving birth - got one from not being turned when i was on an epidural for about 6 hours!!!!

But don't think I'll be allowed hb by dh, he would be totally paranoid.

Also, anyone else got good experiences flying while pregnant - we'd already booked our hols before finding out and I'm gonna be flying around 11 week time. I have this thing about flying while pregnant as I know a few people who have either mc afterwards or gone into very early labour.

sorry so long

nykate · 13/04/2007 10:12

I've loved hearing all about HB. I've really got to do my homework about my options as this is my first birth in the UK and things are a bit different.

DD1 was born by planned csection at 34weeks due to hydrocephalus. DD2 was a vbac- only 4 hours from water breaking/first contraction to fully dilated. I had a wonderful experience with her birth. I did have an epidural despite the fact that I was already nearly fully dilated and I was pleased. I felt really relaxed after that and was able to enjoy the rest without the stress of the pain while being totally with it.

I'm a bit worried about a HB because I wouldn't really have any help during recovery as we don't have any family in the country. WIth two little ones at home already, I'd be nervous about my ability to jump back into things. Any thoughts on that aspect?

Pheebe · 13/04/2007 12:49

Thanks Loopy, lots of food for thought there. I spoke to DH and amazingly he's being really supportive - said he's support me whatever but his preference is for hospital purely for my safety. My sticking point at the mo is defnitely ds but hey months to go yet

choudru · 13/04/2007 15:37

Hello everyone.

Thanks for the welcomes

Loopy - thanks so much for sharing your experience. Your mother's experience sounds horrendous

You are right in your assumptions that yes, I would like to try for a VBAC (need to research) as I didn't heal up from c-section very easily so would much rather have the pain at the time and a faster recovery.

And yes, I do kind of assume that I will have less options because of the following factors:

  1. DS was born at 31 weeks
  2. Had to have emergency c-section
  3. Have GBS

You have given me the impetus to broach the HB subject with the MW and research some counter arguements in advance. I have to admit though - if the medical team are against it I think I will wimp out.

DS was in SCBU for 4 weeks so I may just be grateful for a healthy baby God Willing.

But at least I don't have the prospect of giving birth in the same hospital - we moved from London to Leeds My local hospital up here seems to fare much better reading comments online.

Loopy I do think you should carry on the good work encouraging people - I think a lot of women would consider it if they knew the facts.

Tryingfortwo - although there are supposedly no risks to flying during pregnant, I will not be doing it this time. I flew to Cyprus when I was 5 months pregnant last time and went into early labour 2 months later. Possibly no connection but I'm not taking the risk. Will be taking a break we can drive to this time

Also, my friend's menstrual cycle gets disrupted by taking too many flights! Strange...

How is everyone's MS? I thought mine had gone but it's still lurking and today I'm utterly exhausted even though I have hardly lifted a finger!

choudru · 13/04/2007 15:41

Pheebe · 13/04/2007 16:36

Hi Choudra
My ms is back with a vengence today too and I'm shattered and have another hours work to do tonight plus an essay to write for my bloomin OU course!
Roll on my Sunday lie in...

nykate · 13/04/2007 17:16

Tryingfortwo- I flew with both DDs in early, middle, and late pregnancy. No problems.

MS still going strong...but not as strong as my last pgs.I only get sick once or twice a day and haven't needed IV fluids . Of course, this means that I have to hear from everyone how it probably means it's a boy this time . Hope we're all feeling energetic soon!

Loopymumsy - you'll have to change your name to homebirthoracle - the links are really good, thanks for posting them.

Pheebe/nykate - sorry your still suffering with MS and hope it eases soon. Mine has been replaced with unbelieveable tiredness unfortunately. I'm in bed by 9 most nights and not sleeping too well either .I'm very grateful DS is sleeping through now though!!!

Just thought I'd share a tip. You know when you start wearing mat bottoms/using waist extenders etc & tops don't quite cover the top of your trousers. Instead of using the v expensive "bellybands" (JoJoMamanBebe do them for £15) I've found that Peacocks do boob tubes that are quite long (£5 for 2) which fit the bill perfectly - ideal for afetwards as a tummy cover for BF too

Anyone got plans for the weekend? We've wall to wall sunshine here so going off to the park in a mo then hopefully potter in the garden sorting pots & stuff out. Have a good one all. x

minxy125 · 14/04/2007 17:09

Hi ladies and thanks for the welcome, but looks like I will be dropping off this thread, started spotting friday and bleeding today, so not looking good I'm afraid.

Pheebe · 14/04/2007 17:59

Minxy, I'm so so sorry. Have you seen mw yet? you'll need a scan to really know wots going on. Keep us posted and big hugs for whatever happens

choudru · 14/04/2007 18:05

Oh Minxy

I'm thinking of you - after all you and I are almost exactly same progress.

It just brings it home how fragile our pregnancies still are.

I was logging on to complain about vomiting up dinner last night but now that just pales into insignificance.

I'm so sorry for you honey hugs

xxx

minxy125 · 14/04/2007 18:07

Thanks Pheebe, phoned mw just gave me out of hour docs number, told me I could go far a scan at the epu on monday, which I will do, but tbh its just like the last mc i had, so not getting my hopes up, just wish i could stop crying.

tryingfortwo · 14/04/2007 20:49

God, really feel for you Minxy, hope everything is okay at your scan on Monday. will be thinking of you.

SparklyGothKat · 15/04/2007 22:44

MInxy sorry to hear your news.

Have got home today after a weekend away at our caravan, which was a welcome break. My parents came with us to help with the kids. Was sunny and warm and I love it!!

Morning sickness has passed yah!! and I am feeling great!! People are commenting on how well I look, though tbh, seeing pics of myself, I think my face looks fat and I look yuck. Still having pains when I wake up and move suddenly, and when I have been driving for ages.

I have tons of appointments with Ds this week, one is in london, which I am driving to as its about 1/2 hour from here, so that will be fun.

Hope everyone is feeling ok

Pheebe · 16/04/2007 08:15

Been a bit flat this weekend really after minxys news. So hope she has good news today, been where she is too many times. A big reminder not to get too complacent.

Felt the need to use the doppler lots this wkend too, which was nice and comforting and funnily enough, everything seems to have moved up and out which would explain why my jeans don't fit, I seem to a have expanded under my ribs and my deflated tum left over from ds seems to be filling up again

Ms was back late last week but seems to have settled again thank goodness. Scan tomorow morning, I reckon 11+6 but we'll see. Unfortunately dh has had to take on a new contract so I'll be going on my own. Don't mind really, feel more sorry for him missing out.

Hope everyone else is doing ok

tryingfortwo · 16/04/2007 08:37

I know what you mean about Minxy, was thinking about her this morning too.

My nausea seems to come and go as does the tiredeness. I'm feeling fine for a day or two and then feel terrible for half a day.

Don't know though, I like it when I get the symptoms as I'm so paranoid. The first time round I felt it every day for the first 14 weeks so I don't like it when I wake up and feel fine.

My dh told my dd yesterday - didn't want her to find out till well in, just incase. I was having a sleep and he obviously told her it was cos I had a baby in my tummy and the next thing she was running through to me asking about the baby in my tummy and whether it was going to be a girl or boy - she is not very good at keeping secrets!!! DH is denying telling her but how else did she find out. Was quite cute though so don't mind. She doesn't really understand anyway.

Its another beautiful day up here, so quick tidy up for me and then we're out and about.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Minxy, my thoughts are with you

Pixiefish · 16/04/2007 15:17

Hope you're ok Minxy.

Had my scan last friday- so far so good. Dd was with us and saw the wiggly baby so she has an inkling that something is going on. Think it was too soon to tell her really but couldn't help it as she was there and the scan lady told her

ladydurham · 16/04/2007 16:41

Hi all,
Can't believe how totally lazy I have been about posting in the last couple of weeks. My thoughts are with you minxy, so sorry to hear your sad news .

On a more positive note, I had my scan today which went well and was able to see the little'un wriggling about (and thankfully there is only one). It still amazes me that a little human is in there and I'm really quite unaware of what it's up to! Also they have moved my dates forward from the 10th Nov to the 3rd - so technically I might see it a week sooner I'm over the moon to know all is well and can really believe I'm having a baby Hope all are feeling well and the MS is at bay! Take care x

Pheebe · 16/04/2007 17:49

Getting really nervous about my scan tomorow now. I just can't get it out of my head that they're going to tell me something awful. Logically I know there's no reason they would, no funny symptoms and a good strong hb as of last night.
Roll on 11 am so I can get it over and done with...
