Hi Loopy,

Thanks - booking in appointment is 2 weeks today (not that I'm counting) so that seems like a closer milestone. I'm glad to know I'm not the only impatient one here

I wanted homebirth with DS originally but everyone talked me out of it with their notes of caution so I wimped out

I do wish it was offered more proactively instead of having to be fought for.

My mum was very against the idea ('what if something goes wrong etc') but then admitted her mother had all her kids at home!

Cna't wait to hear how you get on.

How wonderful Loopy - you are so lucky.

I doubt I would be a prime candidate for HB with this baby as much as I would love it - since last baby was 9 weeks early and I had to have c-section.

I hated the hospital experience so much that I left against doctors wishes 2 days after the operation.

The ward was filthy, the midwives were too rushed off their feet to give me painkillers on time, I felt miserable waiting for visiting hours to start - all of which homebirthers don't have to deal with.

Did you feel confident even the first time you did it? Did family or friends try to discourage you?

Hey everyone....
Just thought I would come and join you as have found out I am 10 wks pg with my second. The first being a little boy who is certainly keeping me on my toes!!!
Luckily have not suffered with ms although losing the ability to stay awake after 9 is proving to be a right pain! Good Luck to you all xx Nicki

Yeah DP getting really narky about telling me what happens at the end of any movie or programme we watch!! DS is 22mth, not an easy night time baby I would have to say, which does not help with the tiredness!!

minxy125 · 12/04/2007 19:39

Forgot to say me EDD is 6th November.

I like the idea of a HB but I;m not sure if I'm brave enough! The pain was hideous with ds and in the end dh actually asked them to give me a epi (we'd discussd it previously) as I couldn't speak. Also I'm, concerned about where ds would be, I coudln't possibly let him see me in pain, he just wouldn't be able to handle it and I'd feel like I was throwing him out of his own home. I also have a latex allergy, its never caused me any problems, don't have a problem with balloons or anything like that but it throws all the medics into a blind panic and last time was told that the midwife-led unit was out of bounds for that reason. Feeling a bit depressed now about what my options are. If all goes well this will be my last pregnancy and I kind of wanted to 'enjoy' (if thats the right word) the whole birth experience instead of having it just happen to me like last time.

Sorry Loopy, I just had to go to bed last night before I fell asleep in my chair!

We're about 30 minutes fro m the hospital, through the city on a main road that is constantly blocked and closed by accidents. Previous labour was 23 hours and ended with an epi and a ventouse delivery that took me 5 months to heal from!

morning all - blimey what a busy evening!
I'm not sure how pg I am now as the MW said the heartbeat was very strong for 10+4 yesterday . Looks like I'll have to wait until my scan to find out but for the moment I'll stick to 7th.

Loopymumsy - my MW couldn't stress enough that delivery was MY choice and that it was so easy to be frightened/bullied into feeling that there are massive risks by not doing what the "professionals" want. I had to beg in tears to be "allowed" to kneel to deliver DS!!!! I love her already and am deffo going for a HB this time - if only to introduce the neighbours to my realistic impression of a bull elephant!!
