Hi Jay - sorry you are having such a tough time physically. It will all be over soon . Boo - they can't let you go on any more than a few days can they ? Jay - I am 3 days over - but trying to see it as a few days to chill before baby arrives

Hopfully Sazzy is well on her way now ! I don't envy her ARM - had to have my waters broken last time and it really hurt !

Piffle - things sound like they are ripening for you Rosy - are you getting any contractions yet ?

Morocco - the boys go in the water with wetsuits/hoods/gloves/boots - they look like something from a different planet - but they love it !

My midwife will have to put up with whatever mess she walks into - although it's moderately tidy at the moment !

muppethasakitten · 14/03/2007 12:42

Jaybuddy I know bugger all about SPD other than it sounds frightful... agree with Dolly - get onto your GP if you can. Is it something that an osteopath could help with? Is it a physiotherapy issue? See how naive i am? I don't even know if it's skeletal or muscular - but if it's affecting you that badly and you're in that much pain - for the sake of a few days on some stronger pain killers - i would push for this cocodamol or whatever else they can give you. It's got to be worth trying.

Kitty and Rosy - i had massive fears about the birth in the week running up to it - plus when my waters broke i felt on a conveyor belt towards induction. I was having massive panics about it - i was almost phobic about the pain i knew i was in for. However, when you start for sure, something clicks into place and you somehow just get on with it. This was only my third - you're both on higher numbers than that... it's going to be fine for both of you.

Get your thumbs in gear for some eye-poking! That's what i say!!

rosylonginglily · 14/03/2007 14:11

Jay I'm overdue too. I have loads of sympathy for you, it sounds like you are really struggling now but hopefully not for much longer.

Booboo, They will probably want to induce you and I know you wanted a home birth so much. With my first I was induced but it only took the pessary to start me off and it wasn't a bad labour. thinking of you.

Laidback I'd love to learn to surf so much. My family all go bodyboarding in Donegal in the summer. I love it! Though we are total amateurs and do it without wet suits and get bruises.

Well I'm getting contractions every half an hourish so nothing is happening fast here. My early labour seems to get longer each time and then I explode

Actually just had one there after 20 minutes. I'm going to have a clarysage bath shortly.

Hope yours get going too Piffle.

Hope Sazzy is doing well.

Mossie · 14/03/2007 14:21

My mil is officially lovely - I have just arrived back from the Vet where she drove me so I could pick up the flea stuff (omg it's so expensive! But it does work) and then to Asda so I could get some shopping in, dh will be very impressed, they've started selling loads of meat in their organic range so I bought quite a bit of it.

And then she gave me a prezzie; she has bought me some of that bio oil stuff because I was banging on about how my stretch marks were sore!

Also she is cooking tea for me & dh tonight. There are always so many threads on here about horrible mil's so I am very, very lucky!!

Morocco glad you are feeling a little better, hopefully tomorrow you will be back to form. I don't know about maternity allowance, I'm getting SMP which I think is similar, £108.85 a week?

Piffle you do sound like something has changed, is that energy what you're supposed to get when you're "nesting"?

Kitty why not pronounce your bedroom out of bounds for your dc's for the next few weeks? You could nick one of those "danger of death" signs from an electrical station to put on the door!

Oh Booboo good luck at your appointment, I can imagine you must be frustrated. I hope that you get some good news this avvy.

Jay you poor thing I don't know about SPD but it sounds really awful. As for cocodemol you can get it over the counter, and I was told by the Doc it is safe in pgcy (I took it in the early stages for severe headaches). But, if you are going to get it over the counter, send someone else! I went to buy some piriton, a few months back (NHS direct says it's safe in pgcy) and they point blank refused to serve me anything stronger than paracetamol without a prescription! Went into the next chemist and dh bought it no probs.

Dolly you don't have so long now do you? I know your edd is next to mine but is your c-section on the 22nd?

Kitty forgot to say, you were a huge help to me and put my mind at rest loads about the labour when we had our chat a while back so I'm trying to send those positive vibes back your way so you don't panic!

Rosy... it sounds like you're on your way albeit slowly, is your dh still around then?

Right off to unpack the shopping and then I might sit out front, Pilks have just mown the front lawn and it's really sunny!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 14/03/2007 14:22

Jay, poor you, it sounds a nightmare. I would def demand something stronger, afterall you're about to give birth and it's your health as well as the baby's that is important. Is your dr good and easy to talk to?

Rosy, try some walking that might help to regulate things

Hang on in there all you overdue ladies, the end is so very nearly there

39 weeks today

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 14/03/2007 14:26

x posts Mossy. Your mil does sounds really lovely. How lovely to have her cook you dinner . NO probs re labour chat. I can talk the talk, I don't listen to myself though that's the problem .

I would quite like to labour during the day this time. I've had enough of the night time excursions. Most people labour at night though don't they?

Jaysecond · 14/03/2007 15:41

hiya, thanks ladies for your thoughts, my docs wont do home visits, but i spoke to the receptionist who is going to speak with the doctor and call me back. Its a round about way of doing things but hopefully he will write me a perscription that hubby can pick up. I guess having something stronger than paracetamol at this stage isnt going to hurt, hey it might help...!

Sorry about the last post, i dont like to go on about stuff and i was just feeling completely down about everything, i called my Mum, whos a star, she came round at 12 and has helped out loads this afternoon. She even massaged my huge swollen feet, we pulled up the reflexology points on the net and she administered them to me!! I think now if i go into labour she will take the credit for bringing it on! Anyway, in case that fails i have booked a reflexology treatment for tomorrow afternoon, see if that helps.
Mums also taken DD home with her for a bit, so i can have a sleep, so thats what i am intending to do now, even if its only half an hour on the settee.

Thanks again and sorry for being a 'girl'!

Wondering about sazzy and positive vibes to Rosy

Oh and there are a few of us overdue, so at least now i know i am not the only one thats cursed!

XX

TheBlonde · 14/03/2007 15:43

Jay - that's terrible about the home visits, are you sure? I thought they had to do them!

divastrop · 14/03/2007 17:08

phew-well ive half caught up

kitty-i started feeling terrified soon as i got to labour ward and it all came back to me and i was thinking 'hopefully ill have to have a section or something so i dont have to go throught the pain'.i was really nasty to dp as well and he ended up walking out of the labour ward.

then after all that she fell out in 2 pushes.....

fox-im sooo glad another post-natal lady is slightly fed up.when i read the post natal thread i felt i didnt belong there cos everybody was happy and loved-up whereas i still feel shite apart from the fact im not pregnant anymore.but i seem to be very swollen all over and i seem to have produced excess milk this time and feel like ive had very crap 32J implants.and then i have dp going on about how much hes going to miss them

i will come back and catch up later if Elsie lets me...how come dp's managing to still spend time on the pc but i only get the odd 5 minutes

divastrop · 14/03/2007 17:12

muppet-my dp was trying so hard not to laugh at me when i was on the g+a cos i was talking total bollocks and laughing at nothing(i got it a bit early again so i could have fun).i had told him before it all started to sit a safe distance away though...

Piffle · 14/03/2007 17:17

jaysecond the SPD sounds horrendous honey
Am so glad you've got some help today and I hope you can get some painkillers.
Not long to go, sound a bit trite but at least you can look forward to being mobile again soon.

I mowed the lawn today!!! Manual mower too. Had to lift it over a fence to get it on the grass. was lovely and springlike, smelling the cut grass, washing blowing in the sunshine. I felt quite the Stepford Wife, while I confess not looking exactly like one. Well PJ bottoms are the MOSt comfy thing and bras make my heartburn worse so nah nah, I'm nearly 39 wks pregnant, FGS I'm not meant to look groomed.

Somethings def up, if it was just the sleep then roll on nightfall I want me some more of that magic slumber.

right dinner all prepped, we're having fajitas, so lots of chopping has gone on.
got a good lie down this afternoon, until BH's started arriving every 20 mins, meaning ALL CHANGE!

Right then enough of my overbearing jollity...

PS : Mossie did you do your muffins?

Piffle · 14/03/2007 17:21

oh Kitty not sure about the intensity thing...
it's all I've ever had

I guess I was just relieved that
a) I never tore
b) felt little pain in the whole scheme of things
c) felt in total control
d) recovered quickly afterwards

I know Enid (another mumsnetter) has said that her 3rd labour (also homebirth) was longest but the best so we'll see.

TheBlonde · 14/03/2007 17:21

Piffle - where are you finding all this energy??

Day was ok here til 4pm when DS managed to scratch my eye - now I can only just about see - off to the docs shortly just to check it will recover

Mistiek · 14/03/2007 18:13

Hello Eveyone,

Well I have had a really exciting day. I had my last consaltant apointment today and was plesantly surprised when I asked him if there was any chance of bringing my C-Sec date up as I am finding it too difficult to carry on... and well I am having my little angle girl on Friday. This Friday 16 March I will be holding my litte girl Paige! I cant believe it...

I am sooooo sorry for all of you who have gone over and still have to wait.

Piffle: Glad you have a good day - must be the nesting - but what on earth are you doing lifting a lawn mower over the fence.

Morocco: Thanks for the concern I am fine after the fall - did not hurt myself too much just twisted my pelvis.

Jay: SPD - ouch I have it too but it does not sounds as bad as yours. Although I have to say mine has gotten progressivly worse since Sunday... My thoughts are with you hon.

Madhide - Welcome back

Rosy: Sounds positive on your side hope it all kicks off soon.

Dive: Sorry hon that you have had such a rough time after the birth - I hope you start to feel better

Hope eveything has gone well for Sazzy today and laidback things are sounding very positive there, Any news on the house.

Hope you all get some sleep tonight and hope that things kick off for those who are waiting.

madhide · 14/03/2007 19:52

Evening everyone just about to go and enjoy a night of good tele so just a quickie! Cant decide between watching location location or masterchef and then it is Grand Designs

Had a good day 2day as very few bh's so not sure if that is actually good or not but no back pain. Due date tomorrow have really strange feeling that I am gonna go really overdue/ Parents are off to India for nearly 3 weeks on Friday so am sure they aren't going to get to see the baby b4 they go!

Am really feeling for you Jay sounds like you are having a tough time I hope it comes soon

Mistiek - how exciting only 2 days to go you must be chuffed will be thinking of you

Take care all and hope everyone gets a good nights kip

x

rosylonginglily · 14/03/2007 20:19

Oh yes madhide, I'm off to watch relocation and grand designs now too

Mistiek that's exciting that you will have your little girl on Friday.

Jay that's a great idea looking up the reflexology points! Might get my mum to do that too!

I remembered that last labour I started getting pains at about 3am and it just built really slowly until he burst out with the waters at 10 to 2am the following morning.

So I've been losing more show and continuing to have contractions every half an hourish. Stayed in bed all afternoon in peace which was good. Dh cooked a delicious curry and I stuffed my face.

I reckon I'll be like this for a while yet before it goes up a gear.

I just hope I manage to get some sleep tonight...

CallieNewMum · 14/03/2007 21:04

Ooh, Rosy and Piffle, will we be seeing you on the PN thread soon???

Diva, come over and moan as much as you like . we want to hear about little Elsie. Are there any pics by the way?

Jay and others with SPD, sounds horrible. You poor things- hope the LOs come soon and relieve you of it.

Kitty, you know you'll be fine as soon as labour starts. Your body will take over as it has done the past five times.

Boo, sorry if you don't get your homebirth - you can join my club in that case.

eidsvold · 14/03/2007 21:06

jay - sorry to hear you are in so much pain.

There must be a few of you who are overdue now are there?!?

Had a rough night last night - dd2 suddenly came down with a very high temp yesterday afternoon. Despite a couple of doses of panadol and letting her just chill in her nappy - nothing could get her temp down until we finally got her into bed and under her fan. However my early night was disrupted by a poorly dd2 crying and asking to come into dh and my bed. That meant - her hogging as much of the bed as possible and dh and I having to sleep around her.

she then woke me up fully at 3.30am by climbing off the bed and coming round to tell me loudly - patting baby mummy. Then I asked her where she was going - ' swimming!' She then asked to go to her bed and wanted to wake her sister up. Managed to get her back to her bed and she slept through til 6.30am. Dd2 is back to normal today - strange.

Thankfully dd1 is much better and her rash is almost gone so I am sending her to school so I can get all my last minute purchases etc done today.

Hope things are better for you all tomorrow/today.

Jaysecond · 14/03/2007 21:11

blonde, for sure my doc wont do home visits, AND i cant get anything on perscription. The receptionist called back and said the doc said i need to rest and get some sleep. WTF god i couldve screamed, i asked to spk to the doc again mbut hed gone for the day, so now i have to just carry on with the paracetanmol.........

Managed a snooze this afternoon, but am still feeling knackered, going for a clary sage bath shortly. DH made dinner and bought me a huge bar of choccie, bless him. Every night i hope this is THE NIGHT, who knows if i pray hard enough it might be tonight! - praying for you too Rosy!

Anyone seen CRANK the movie, with Jason Statham, i am watching it now, hes the guy from the movie, Transporter,Lock stock and Snatch.....hes my new tv boyfriend! Its quite a novel film...

TheBlonde · 14/03/2007 21:42

Jay - that is appalling about the home visits, does the surgery refuse to take OAPs then?

I am overdue now but only by a day so not too bothered. Got ABs for my scratched eye and hopefully will be back to full sight before labour!! Seeing the consultant tomorrow for a check up

TheBlonde · 14/03/2007 21:47

Anyone heard from Boo? She was off to post dates clinic this afternoon..

muppethasakitten · 14/03/2007 22:05

Fingers crossed for you Rosy - and you too Piffle... perhaps everyone should try lifting lawnmowers over fences!

Diva - please don't shun the post natal thread... listen... I'm up and down like a bloody yo-yo at the moment so dont feel like you're the odd one out... there have been wonderful moments so far but equally there have been hellish ones too.

Jay i'm really shocked at your GP effectively doing sweet FA for you. Perhaps you could ask to see a different one at your surgery?

LaidbackinEngland · 14/03/2007 22:10

Jay - what about an out of hours GP ?

Well - I have been having pains on and off this evening. Despite this being my 3rd, I can't remember if this is how labour starts No show or anything ... just womb cramps every half hour or so.

Think I might go and have a bath, get a few bits ready (just in case) and see what happens.

Hope to come back on here tomorrow morning and find babies from Boo and Sazzy.

Rosy, if we can sync up telepathically and deliver our boys at the same time please ?

Hope everyone gets a fairly decent nights sleep.

kiwibella · 14/03/2007 22:14

"danger of death"

I need one of those signs for my front door!! I feel so sympathetic reading all your posts and your frustrations / anxieties at your waiting for these babies to arrive.

Mossy... treasure your mil - what a doll .

swimming - Eids!! Hahaha... hope the girls are doing ok today after such an eventful night and you managed your purchases.

That is shocking treatment you have received Jay (or not - since you haven't received any treatment). Wishing you a restful night and better luck tomorrow.

sleep well everyone and wishing lots of babies arrive with the new day .

rosylonginglily · 14/03/2007 22:51

Laidback that sounds like something is starting anyway. You'll probably have yours before me!
Of course I can't sleep at all, I'm too hyper.
My contractions are getting stronger but still irregular.
Dh is gabbling on the phone and annoying me. Honestly I would feel so much better if I could pull some string tied to his testicles every time I had a contraction. I just know it would help

Jay I hope you go into labour tonight now and then you can access some decent pain relief
