New thread before the old one explodes!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
divastrop · 13/03/2007 16:35

rosy-that was me,somebody told me about that tradition when i was expecting ds1.although i think chopping the knackers off of the men and nailing them to the walls of the labour ward would be better(i was tempted, trust me,and i had a bloddy easy birth)

well i feel a little better today but not quite ready to join the joyous post-natal ladies,i still feel more at home among the moaning fed-up people.

who mentioned clary sage oil?i put it in the bath and also put drops of it on my pillows in the hospital.i found it caused strong bh's which is good.

i think i'll have to go hunting for stats thread etc later when the kids are in bed cos im not quite sure who's dropped and who hasnt.

hope everybody is ok and starts having babies very soon!

Jaysecond · 13/03/2007 16:59

thanks Lunar and Diva!

Piffle · 13/03/2007 17:21

I'm laying off the clary sage, I'm sick to the back teeth of BH's

Today I've bene getting less BH's but they are stronger and more down there gripping, and down thighs and some back twinges

So they feel more like they are doing something
Baby has dropped LOADS his bum is about at least 2 inches down from where he was last week.

Leading a man round by his testicles.
Now that my dears sounds like a plan...
Do we have to tie the string or can we sew it through ?

madhide · 13/03/2007 17:34

Can I ask what clary sage does?

I saw MW this afternoon and she thinks head is engaged and I am ready to go but am booked in for a swwep on Monday in case it hasn't started by then.

Does anyone have any experience of a sweep? Whats involved does it hurt, does it work?

I never got to that stage last time and hope I don't this time round either!

Piffle · 13/03/2007 17:44

I had a sweep with dd at 37+4 and it was painless
Had dd 3 days later

Clary sage is meant to cause contractions, I've certainly had tons of Bh's since using it in my clarins tummy rub Huile oil the last 2 days
But it is also quite exhausting so I'm having a day off it.

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 13/03/2007 17:46

Welcome back madhide.
I've got some clary sage and jasmine oils to help things along.

Bloody hell I feel really, really crappy today. So So tired and sore everywhere. Then the baby sort of presses really hard on my bladder and the pain is hideous. Also got bad back ache today and I never get back ache. Well, perhaps I'm slowly creeping into the birthing zone, about bleeding time.

Sorry for moaning

Mossie · 13/03/2007 17:48

Oh Piffle after all that I can't find my biscuit tins anywhere. I'll wait until dh gets home and get him to stand on the side and look on top of the cupboards.

Laidback I hadn't even thought about that, breast feeding tops! I am not too bothered about people seeing my norks, I can always cover them with a cardi or jacket, but yes my saggy belly isn't something I want to show to the world!

Diva stay here and moan as long as you want!!! If you reckon that clary sage oil works I might get some, it's quite expensive but I guess it's worth a go!

Madhide it's meant to help bring labour on, I think. Also, re: sweeps someone had one I think it might have been Muppet?

Rosy isn't TK's great for home bargains! I used to only shop for clothes there but recently discovered the home section!

Right I am going to Oust the house. I am convinced it is starting to stink (of dog). Either that or my sense of smell is getting even more acute.

Mossie · 13/03/2007 17:50

X post Kitty sorry you are feeling crappy. {{{hugs}}} I suppose at least it's some comfort to know it's getting closer to the big day.

Mistiek · 13/03/2007 18:01

I tried Clary Sage today and it did nothing for me. I put some in some olive oil (its the only base oil I have) 3 drops in 30ml and massaged some of the mixture into my bump.... Nothing. So I then had a bath and put 5 drops in my water and still nothing... I am getting some BH but that is usual for this time of the day.

I have had a really crappy day. Did not sleep well last night and was so tired all day. DS woke up at 6am and only had a 1 hour nap this afternoon so I only got a tiny bit of sleep.... .

Then when I tried to get out the bath I sliped and luckily only hit my arm and twisted my pelvis and did not bump the baby. But this left me sobbing as I now feel I should not have anymore baths until DH comes home so he can help me get out!!!! Thats just put the cherry on the top of everything now...

Hope you all have a good evening. DH is going to be late today cause of an accident so I have to go and bath DS and get dinner started and finally get the dishes done all by myself

sazzybee · 13/03/2007 18:09

Hiya madhide. I've had 2 sweeps in the last week. They didn't hurt really - a bit uncomfortable but it's really quick. Afterwards I had a bit of bleeding, cramps, minor contractions and last week I had a show too.
They didn't work for me but I've got too much amniotic fluid so the baby's not engaged so hopefully if yours is engaged then it will work. I'm pretty sure I read that in 50% of cases, labour starts within 48 hours so I'll keep my fingers xed for you.
I've realised that this baby really isn't down in my pelvis - he's floating about all over the shop. I'm a bit worried that he's going to be spectactularly shocked when he shoots out tomorrow - it's not like it's all crowded and uncomfortable in there. Oh well - he doesn't get a lot of say in the matter.
My bags are all packed, I've been out for a nice lunch and I've got quite a large glass of wine. I've been down TK Maxx today too. I love it. Got my mum something for her birthday when she wasn't looking - bargainous Estee Lauder 8 hour cream stuff.

I'm not allowed to eat after 2am so I'm going to have a bedtime snack. I'm more anxious about being starving in the morning than anything else. I'm so shallow

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 13/03/2007 18:11

Well at least despite feeling like demon lady from hell I have been a good mother this evening because I cooked my children a home made chicken cassereole and we all made biscuits together

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 13/03/2007 18:12

x posts Sazzy. So excited for you, how are you feeling are you nervous?

sazzybee · 13/03/2007 18:15

I am sorry people are feeling miserable too. I hope it all ends soon for those of you who are struggling

(((((speed for all the babies)))))

sazzybee · 13/03/2007 18:17

x-posting with kitty
No I'm not nervous. I'm excited! I feel like I ought to be but I'm just so delighted that it's all going to be over soon and I'm going to meet my LO at long last that it's my over-riding feeling
I'll be shitting bricks tomorrow morning I'm sure

madhide · 13/03/2007 18:27

Good Luck Sassy will be thinking of you

I may try and get some clary sage if nothing has happened by Thursday

Have just made a rather hot chilli so maybe that will get things going!

Thanks for all the advice people feel so much happier coming on here and chatting and getting support

muppethasakitten · 13/03/2007 18:28

oooh sazzy - so glad i popped in to check on you all again - can't believe it will happen for you tomorrow! Lets hope they go with the crochet hook rather than Captain hook!

madhide i did have a sweep a week b4 my waters went... everyone on this thread will probably remember me moaning on about it! It wasn't the most comfortable of experiences but then i was no where ready to have the baby and the real reason they did it was to internally examine me to check the baby had turned head down. I would say in retrospect that if you really want to try all you can to induce labour then give it a go.

DH admitted to me today that during my labour he kept on having to look away and stop himself laughing at my strange noises I'd love to know what sort of noises he'd bloody make! All i can remember is him telling me not to say "oww" but to breathe the pain away... I was so annoyed by this comment I grabbed at his head and pushed my thumb into his eye

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 13/03/2007 18:33

Muppet rofl at you poking your dp in the eye . That's great. Actually you were very restrained!!! What did he mean don't say ow fhs???

LaidbackinEngland · 13/03/2007 18:33

Good luck Sazzy - can't wait to hear about your birth and your new boy !

Mistiek · 13/03/2007 18:43

He sazzy - Good luck for tomorrow - so glad this will all finally be over for you - yipeee!!!! Hope you have a good evening and try get some sleep... which may be hard cause of nerves but try anyway.

DollyPopsOut · 13/03/2007 18:51

Good luck Sazzy, hope it all goes really well for you.

Am well at home with the moaning and fed up ladies. John lewis effed up an order for me today and I went ballistic. Feel very grumpy and out of sorts. Plus my piles have returned . Nice. orry for everyone who has had enough. Hope you all get some movement soon.

Piffle, the best thing I have got to conceal flab rolls on the tummy is a bump band - £5 from top shop. Sorry I can't do the link for you, but it's in their maternity wear. It's like a boob tube, about 12 inches long and made out of leggings materials. Comes in black or white. When pregnant, you wear it over your trouser waistband to cover the gap with your t shirt etc and when you have had the baby, you wear it to conceal the lard left behind. Seriously the best £5 I have spend on being pregnant and am buying them for all preg friends.

DD has conked out already - miracle as it's so early. SHe didn't have a sleep this PM though which might explain it. Now I need to unload the tesco shop and put it all away. I bought my newborn nappies today. Half of me thinks how tiny compared to the things DD wears, and the other half is a bit scared that something that large is in my tummy. No wonder I am enormous. Have a good night everyone and see you tomorrw XXXXX

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 13/03/2007 19:09

Dolly my piles are shocking. they never been as bad as this I'm sure!

sazzybee · 13/03/2007 19:19

Ooh a bump band! That sounds marvellous. I keep looking at the hugeness of my belly and imagining it emptied of baby. There's no way that skin's going back to where it was before
Topshop maternity may well be my first post-birth expedition

TheBlonde · 13/03/2007 19:29

Sazzy - good luck for tomorrow

I also have the topshop bump bands - very handy and will be ideal for breastfeeding belly coverage

foxcub · 13/03/2007 21:15

Sazzy that's so exciting

I'll be thinking of you all day tomorrow - are you having an epi as well?

Kitty - have you ever had your piles zapped? After DD I went to see the "bottom doctor" (lovely man) at the hossie and he injected something which made mine all shrivel and die, it was great

Have had baby blues today and been a screaming harpie with DH . He thinks "paternity leave" tranlsates as "lottle holiday" for him

Also sore nips are getting me down. Seem to have left breast sorted but finding latching on with right breast more challenging

I can't wait until you all pop too

Piffle · 13/03/2007 21:21

Sazzy I really hope everything goes well for you tomorrow, another addition to our ever increasing collection.

Piles - this is the first time out of all 3 pregnancies I've not suffered
Copious quantities os soft liquorice, loads of fruit, and an iron supplement that does not constipate
Will also try extra hard after the birth as did suffer with them earlier this pregnancy.

Kitty I've had back pains today too
My bh's have changed, less often, more intense, deeper round low tummy and back and legs, gripping almost

Feel like they're actually doing something instead of the useless other ones.

Oooh deja vu did I already type this today?
Ahh well sod it...

DD (4)really needed a bath she has been ill for a week but is back to pre school tomorrow so thought I'd better wash her dreadlocks

I asked dp to be home early to help as I struggle to bath her atm.
He was a no show by 5.30pm so I ran a deep bath and jumped in with her
kept adding hot water until he came home at 6.15
Was bliss even though she liked to pour water over my head...
