sorry - didn't mean to be so grumpy - hope your dd gets better soon eidsvold, I 've got mine at home today as well, what a bummer! even those few hours of rest are hard to give up. also, they actually seem fine now so I wish I'd sent them in. is your dd full of beans too?

sympathy and empathy to you all

LaidbackinEngland · 13/03/2007 10:02

Just eating my second breakfast !

Piffle - I too realised that I haven't got any tops that wont expose my whole top half when breastfeeding . Might head into town with DS2 a bit later to see if there are any bargains to be had .

Also lanolised some nappy wraps last night only to find there was a hole in my bucket ! [dear liza dear liza] So need a new one of those too.

Enough of my shopping list !

Morocco... think it is a fab idea to think you are in France until 41 weeks. Might do the same .... she eyes up a strong coffee, croissant and a gitane . I haven't smoked in about 5 years but the last few days I have been totally craving a cigarette !

DH wrote me a beautiful card yesterday ... thanking me for 'growing our baby' - so I am feeling pretty upbeat today ! Bless.

Hope everyone has a good day .

Piffle · 13/03/2007 10:06

Laidback
I'm just as worried about exposing below my norks as well as above, all that lovely marshmallow belly

Oh how am I going to get out of the house today
Dd is still in her pj's
I'm dressed at least...

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 13/03/2007 10:12

Morning all. Sorry again for all those feeeling shit.
Well this morning as I was heaving myself very ungraciously into my trousers dd1(5) was asking something about my thighs. I couldn't really understand what she was talking about, thinking she had seen a mark or something. In the end she said " your legs are fat because you are having a baby"
yeah, cheers for that dd1, that's made me feel a whole lot better. So ds1 thibnks I look older and dd1 thinks I have fat thighs . Both of these things are true btw but i don't WANT to be told them. I would rather bumble along pretending it was all in my imagination.

sazzybee · 13/03/2007 10:50

What a lovely day
Sunshine makes such a difference to the way I feel - hope it has the same effect on the rest of you.

Mossie · 13/03/2007 11:18

What is the point of those bleedin' flexi-leads if dog owners don't use them? A very little dog (Jack Russell cross?), on one of those leads, was pestering Merlin, who was being very well behaved at first but the more the dog pestered I could see the fur on the back of his neck starting to stand up. You'd think, wouldn't you, that the owner of said dog would pull it away as the dog was on one of those flexi leads, but no, just stood there and did sweet fa. We were walking in the same direction so I couldn't walk off; in the end I turned back on myself and went back the other way.

It's - excuse the pun - a pet hate of mine.

Aside from that though, lovely sunny day outside and the walk went okay.

Sorry to those of you who are feeling grumpy this morning. I too am very tired, I am finding it harder and harder to sleep, but unlike many of you I can catch up with sleep / rest in the day. Lots of sympathy to those of you who are knackered and still having to run around after little ones.

Mistiek do you think it is somehow "symbolic" that in your dreams you can't yet get the baby out? Like your lo is just not quite ready yet? I have lots of baby dreams atm but they are interspersed (sp?) with my usual dreams about Doctor Who, or horses (I have only ever once ridden a horse in rl btw when I was about eight for about half a minute, but I constantly dream that either I am riding a horse or that I am a horse!) so I don't think mine mean anything much?

Eids congrats on your dd1's boyfriend... start 'em young! Seriously I hope her rash clears up soon, hopefully she isn't uncomfy with it at least.

Madhide I think you were on here before I joined? But welcome back!

Theblonde of your dh suggesting hot lurvin'! Mine would run a mile atm!

Morocco sorry you have flu and hope you get well soon.

Laidback that is so sweet about the card! Oh and if we were in France I bet we could have lots of soft cheese too!

Kitty I am sure your thighs are only about the size of my calves, iirc you are very slim? You should come up here and get out into the town centre and pop to Sayers or Greggs; every time I go it makes me feel like a supermodel!

Sazzy it is a lovely day here too.

Chocolatepenny · 13/03/2007 13:34

Feeling sunstoke just bought Motherease washable nappys starter pack, they may not work but the nappies are fluffy white towelling and look so cute, had to have some. Anybody used these?

morocco · 13/03/2007 13:45

nappies are my weakness but havent tried the motherease aio, just got some bamboozle nappies back from totsbots today - had them poppered, otherwise am trying ellas house cos so thin and cute, fluffles cos superfluffy and cute, and wambamboos cos new and trendy

Jaysecond · 13/03/2007 13:51

just bought some clary sage oil, whats the best way to use it? and how often can i use it? Also got lavender for during labour and afterwards for healing.....

very sunny here also, hi to everyone xx

LunarSea · 13/03/2007 14:12

Jay - Last time I mixed the clary sage with lavender and jasmine and sweet almond oil to make a massage oil for labour - or you can put it in a burner, or a few drops in the bath (check you like the smell first before going overboard, as it's quite powerful!).

Tea tree is also good in baths for healing afterwards if you want any more oils as it's a natural antiseptic.

morocco, I bought one called bumble with poppers. The lady said it was good for long or tall babies as it pops if you want to make it longer. The wraps are gorgeous, I only bought one (to try) but I could have gone mad, they had tiger print and spotty ones felt like a kid in a sweet shop.

Piffle · 13/03/2007 15:10

I've got some kissaluv fleece nappies (over cute factor WOW) for newborn, plus motherease for older and few bits and bobs I've gotten given etc.

Well I've been out, come back...
Nothing to report

Mossie · 13/03/2007 15:21

I bought a load of second hand tots bots off ebay / the nappy lady. They looked quite cute and also relatively easy to use (hopefully)! And they were cheap as they were "pre-loved" as they call it so if they don't work out it's not the end of the world.

The sun has gone in and I am trying to find a recipe for either biscuits or something cake-like that doesn't involve butter as we're out of it and I can't be bothered going to the shops. But I have plenty of flour, eggs and sugar and raisins... but everything seems to require butter / margerine!

Piffle · 13/03/2007 15:27

you cna make fruit muffins with sunflower oil Mossie

Mossie · 13/03/2007 15:28

I don't have any of that either, but I do have olive oil? Would that work?

Piffle · 13/03/2007 15:29

ds made them with olive oil once, they tasted a little erm savoury adn did not rise as well
But they all got eaten...

Mossie · 13/03/2007 15:31

I'll take that risk! So please tell, how do I make them?

Piffle · 13/03/2007 15:38

let me find recipe hang on 5 mins

Piffle · 13/03/2007 15:42

1 egg
1/4 cup oil
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup milk
2 cups plain flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
! cup fresh/frozen or tinned fruit

Beat egg, oil, sugar and milk together in a bowl. Sift flour, bakig powder and cinnamon into egg mixture. Add fruit, mix lightly just to combine (do not overmix)
Spoon into muffins tins or cases
Bake at 220c (think that's gas 6) for 15 mins or until risen and golden

What's also really nice depending on what fruit you're using is a mix of sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on top of the wet mixture before baking, it cracks and melts and is yummy.

Mossie · 13/03/2007 15:43

Piffle only if you have it to hand, I know just getting up gives you really bad BHs, I don't want to be responsible for that!!!

Mossie · 13/03/2007 15:45

X posts - Piffle you're a star, thank you very much!!!

Piffle · 13/03/2007 15:46

Yes I got a BH and baby got the hiccups
But hey that's life

rosylonginglily · 13/03/2007 15:50

ooh the muffins sound scrummy.

Well I've been out shopping and it did my mood the world of good. ooh I got gorgeous plates in tkmax and some shoes for ds2 and bargains in Primark. Retail therapy it was.

Laidback, very jealous of your card. My dh is bugging me he keeps telling me to hurry up and have the baby.
Where did I read about the tradition in parts of Africa where the husband has string tied round his testicles and the wife pulls the string when in labour....I've been fantasising about that quite alot and I don't want to wait til labour

LaidbackinEngland · 13/03/2007 16:01

Ummm... this is more like it swapping recipes for muffins, buying new plates ... etc !! We are like the Womens Institute ...maybe we need a jam making competition !

Rosy - a cattle prod round the knackers might do the trick to pull your DH into line ! How the heck are you meant to hurry up !

DS1 and DH are just in from their surf and we are off to Brighton to pick up a replacement fin for DH's board. Might swing by Primark to see if there are any decent things to buy. Piffle - did you buy anything "modest" whilst you were out ?. Was thinking a boob tube might come in useful . Can't remember what I used to wear for breast feeding before. Think I just used to wop them out

Any more babies being born today ?

Piffle · 13/03/2007 16:32

I used to whip em out to laidBack
But then I was 22 and in a country where bf publicly was perfectly ok.

I went to Asda - closest place and I am not venturing out very far on my own plus as it's short term wear, not wanting to break the bank - looking at my account, tis already well broken methink

got a pair of cargo pants for afterwards to stuff the jelly belly in and a tob with a smocky bit for discreet feeling...
Hopefully...
