Sazzy - not sure re the B pads - I always use Advent disposable as they are really soft.

sazzybee · 28/02/2007 08:03

Thanks foxy - I haven't got any disposable ones. I'll get some of those. I'll only lose my sister's weirdy lacey ones if I take them to the hospital with me.
How are you feeling today? Have you decided what you're going to do? My mum keeps telling me that I must accept support when it's offered and I think you should do the same. I love skiving off work to help out my sister/friends - makes me feel useful

rosylonginglily · 28/02/2007 08:07

Sazzy, I'm not sure what brand of breast pads I got before but they were so uncomfortable! I usually just end up cramming some terry towelling in there. Very attractive looking of course!

eidsvold · 28/02/2007 08:45

take disposables to the hospital and save nice ones for home.

I used lanisoh brand ( same as nipple cream) they are very good - got a free sample from the UK. Johnson do a good one too - some of the other brands were too flimsy and fell apart in the aussie heat but johnsons ones seemed fab for me.

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 28/02/2007 08:52

I stopped using them years ago , boobs don't leak after first couple of days, so I just put some cotton wool or something there until it stops.
Right I'm off to pack my in case bags

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 28/02/2007 09:13

I've lost my homebirth check list silly moo

muppetisacat · 28/02/2007 09:35

Full moon this w/e! It's all heating up ladies!

Rosy - get your gloves at the ready if your dh is on his way!

Diva - really sounds like you're warming up for something!

Foxy - I would defo call on the local mnetters - the last thing you want is to feel you've to hang around for someone to make a long journey to get to you. Then your sis can take over when she arrives. The last thing you should worry about is kids missing day off school!

Mossy - enjoy last day and don't do too much!

Sazzy - tommee tippee breast pads and johnsons pads are good - I really do need them as i leak like billy-o - have been known to spray dh lying next to me in bed from whichever side isn't being suckled - so always have to have pads around. Sorry - that was probably a bit tmi

Positive birth vibes to shanks.

Lots of good vibes to bethoo too.

Methinks there'll be a few announcements soon.

I think a lot of us are gunning for march 3rd! it was my fave grannies b'day - she was a mad old bint who taught me every swear word i know - would love lo to arrive on that day...

Morning all, guess Shanks is on her way as theres no word!

Breast pads, i thought last time i could do without them, but no, i had to use them during the while time i was BF, i too used johnstones and or the Lanisoh ones, found them great.Which are the ones with the sticky bit in them? the bit that helps them to 'stay in place' when stuck to the inside of your bra? I hated those ones as they were more unconfortable than those without. I found those without sticky bits i could move and and adjust so much more easier!

I too had a better night last night, i think i got two lots of three hours sleep, suppose i cant complain about that, although i still feel shagged!

Kitty did you find it yet? can look one up from the net if you cant find it...

lynniep · 28/02/2007 09:54

morning!

I thought I'd gatecrash this party...I'm due on Saturday (3rd March) although to be honest theres not much action going on down there - think this DC is staying put for a good few weeks yet.

I'm astoundlingly bored. I know I'm supposed to be 'making the most of my last few days of freedom' but I'm not sure how. I'm skint so I rely on the old retail therapy, I can't do my crafty things because my swollen fingers are too sore, I really don't like those activities related to 'pampering' like face masks and such. I cant walk more than 200 yards without extreme discomort. My house is tidied beyond belief and I'm not allowed to do DIY cos DH will kill me... and Sky is sh*t during the day! I spend all day on MN and trawling ebay and I know I'm wasting precious 'me' time but

I feel ungrateful and whingey and impatient and like the back end of a truck. Arrgh!

lynniep · 28/02/2007 09:55

um, I meant "skint so 'cant' rely on retail therapy "

rosylonginglily · 28/02/2007 09:57

Hee hee, Jay I just looked at your bump...impressive, very impressive

Well I just got my vertbaudet delivery with kiddies digital camera, surely even I should be able to work it out. It looks great. Fox I hope you got yours! So soon I shall be able to fix my profile and I might even put my face on there too!

rosylonginglily · 28/02/2007 10:00

Welcome linniep! You are in good company here! The 3rd is the day we are all giving birth then full moon an all.

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 28/02/2007 10:09

Jay, no I can't. I was thinking I need
Towels
sheets
plastic sheeting
torch
flannels
bin liners
food
drink

That's it isn't it?

shanks313 · 28/02/2007 10:29

Morning girls;)

Im still at home, seem to be getting contractions every 7 minutes now. Some more painful than others.
Had a bath about 2am and that helped to get to sleep, managed to sleep till about 7.30.
Been trying alot of positions but lying down on my side or sitting on the birthing ball seem the best.
At least now I know I wil lbe induced tomorrow if not.
Very scary but sooo exciting.

Chocolatepenny · 28/02/2007 10:35

Babies are arriving, I am excited!! Jay wow thats a bump and a half. Saw somebody at my swim class yesterday with a really small bump and she only had 2 wks left, its amazing!
Thnk If I had to choose I'd be happier with a bigger bump thg, currently somewhere in the middle

Chocolatepenny · 28/02/2007 10:39

lynniep thats all sounds familar too me! I had a dream last night that I was selling stuff on Ebay it when on for ages and was really boring. Think its unfair I'm even having boring dreams now!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 28/02/2007 10:40

Shanks, when I was trying to keep dd1 heading towards the exit I walked, very slowly it must be said, but it seemed to help. Big {{{hugs}}} to you xx

muppetisacat · 28/02/2007 10:41

Kitty - your list makes me think you're going on a brownie camp! What is the torch for ...or shouldnt i ask!

Shanks you sound very in control. my first labour with dd - waters went and that was it... i was rushing about exhausting myself for 24 hrs - no sleep/food - convinced she was about to pop out. By the time real labour started i was exhausted. Very impressed at how you are keeping your cool.

Have you got a tens machine or anything with you?

Welcome new bumps

Piffle · 28/02/2007 10:43

shanks sitting ball V v v vgood position, gravity assists you know
Make sure you eat a decent breakfast too
am so excited for you!!!

Kitty we've been told to get
mattress protector (waterproof)
dark coloured towels
floor covering
some old sheets/duvet covers

I intend to stay semi upright to deliver, with a large beanbag on my bed to lean on (our bed is lower height than normal bed)

Diva go with whatever option will cause you the least worry. Bloody parents sometimes...

Breastpads - I've never need them until day 2-3-4 when milk comes in and boobs resemble footballs.
Have some great cool/heat pad things for this time round as suffered badly with engorgement in the past. also have brough a few Bravado nursing bras VERY comfy!!!!

Am getting so many BH's had about 10 in an hour last night, they abate as soon as I lie down so I intend to obey
When I get them sometimes I get an awful shotting pressure pain right in my bottom. Not pleasant at all.

Had a better nights sleep just getting up once yes ONCE! DP massaged my ear lobe, a reported relfexology trick for better sleep.
Worth a crack!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 28/02/2007 10:44

Muppet, it's for looking up my unmentionables . I don't like the main lights on!

rosylonginglily · 28/02/2007 10:47

Hi Shanks1 How exciting Hopefully you won't need to be induced. It sounds like it is ticking along nicely. Glad you got some sleep.

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 28/02/2007 10:47

Piffle, I'm the same with the bh's, infact they come alot when I'm sitting too. It serves me right for going on about not getting any .
Anway I'll go and see if dp has some plastic sheeting somewhere( he does some bulding stuff) then I reckon that's the birth basket packed. I've done most of the baby's bag, just need to do mine. I reckon all these rapidly appearing babies and the bh's have scared me into action at last

rosylonginglily · 28/02/2007 10:51

Oh I get really engorged, it's sore! And I leak loads, seems a waste, I make gallons of milk I'm like a cow

Have to add I do drink loads and loads of fluids after birth and that is something I must put on my list. I'm always trying to avoid dehydration and constipation.
