Eidsvold, your bump deserved some stickers after the pain of being ironed

Kitty, definately get a massage, you deserve one. Being a mummy is very draining and sometimes one needs replenished!

Dh is arriving tonight now but he is in Dublin now so not too far away.

Hope everyone is well this morning. Maybe we'll have some more baby news today!

Piffle · 09/03/2007 09:11

Sazzy officially gutted for you, was sure that your absence yesterday was a sure sign you'd done it.

Sigh my last bastion of peace = lying down has now been invaded by bloody BH's so GRRR

Have great compulsion to garden and I mean dig borders and stuff

Have m/w appt today, am dreading being told baby is not even a spec engaged. Dare I ask her to check my cervix
No I doubt it....

Ahh well he cannot stay in there forever at least.

And no extra stretchmarks which is nice but then I am carryinh very compactly, which is odd for what is predicted to be my biggest baby.

Ahhh right coughy snotty dd at home today... So today I will mostly be wiping noses and administering Tixylix

evenhope · 09/03/2007 09:16

TheBlonde, with you on the stretchmarks. Thought I'd got away with it this time but at the hospital on Tues noticed a brand new crop of nasty blue marks all around my belly button that weren't there before. They are currently competing with the huge yellow bruise across the top of my bump where they tried to turn the baby. Just as well I don't wear bikinis.

After arguing with me for the last 4 months, DH has now decided he "doesn't care" what the baby is called and has left it up to me. (Now I've gone off everything I had in mind and can't think of anything else.)

LunarSea · 09/03/2007 09:17

spongecake - I'm with you on the backache this morning. Only it's not really normal backache, just very painful spasms all the way up my spine. For a while they were happening quite regularly and I was seriously panicing that this was the start of some kind of nasty labour. Seriously after 5 of them in 5 minutes I was already thinking "pain relief" and "no way could I stand this for hours" (and I've actually got quite a high pain threshold, so I don't think I was just being a wimp!) - but they've subsided again now thank goodness.

I'm back in the fed up camp! Car wouldn't start so dd is missing nursery again and I have no milk, and I can hardly walk anyway and I wish I wasn't on my own! I'm a misery guts, must need more breakfast.

Chocolatepenny · 09/03/2007 09:20

Morning All
Feeling realy breathless today a sure sign baby is not even considering dropping down yet.
Get dropping bumps!

TheBlonde · 09/03/2007 09:27

Morning folks

Hoping for a good day here. It took 2 hrs to get DS to bed last night and DH didn't make it home til 9.30pm despite being well aware that I am not coping with bedtime

Must dash and get showered and dressed before the cleaner shows up and starts going on about when is the baby going to appear

Mistiek · 09/03/2007 09:48

Morning all

Sazzy so sorry it did not happen for you yesterday - we were all hoping to hear things had kicked off for you. So sorry Hon...

Piffle maybe you should stay away from the garden do not need you to over do it, I think maybe your DH was right yesterday in saying this could be a sign. Maybe its your way of nesting. Dam how I wish I had a fraction of your energy.... I cant even get myself to wash my dishes this morning.

Had serious contractions for 3 hours last night after DH did the deed. They were comming every 3-4 min and lasting between 30-60 secs and then stopped .

Sob I have had enough and I am still 2 weeks from C-sec date - hope this does not happen every night for the next 2 weeks.

Well hope you all have a good day - I am going to try and get going and see If I can get some things done to keep my mind occupied.

Piffle · 09/03/2007 09:53

Mistiek I'm not sure I have the energy for it LOL
Just the desire

The contractions are such a pain.
There is a marked difference in labour starting than to BH's though.

Bh's make you want to lay down
Real ones make you jump up and go WTF was that.
It's amazingly depressing how long two weeks away is
Mistiek it's also my EDD....
38 wks today

sazzybee · 09/03/2007 09:59

Morning all
Feeling a bit more chirpy today - I suspect mainly because I've completely given up on this baby happening any time soon. So I'm not hanging around feeling disappointed but trying to feel positive about the fact that it's sunny and my mum and I are going to the chinese supermarket which is always fun
eidsvold - ow! that is so cute your daughter giving you stickers though. Hearing things like that makes me realise that one day this will be over and I will get to meet this little person
The stretchmarks are a total bugger aren't they? I didn't have any until the last few weeks either and now there's a whole row of them just above my belly button. Serves me right for being such a smug cow about it I guess
I didn't tell people that the induction had been cancelled as I'd hoped his lordship would have arrived by then. Now I've had to fess up!

LaidbackinEngland · 09/03/2007 10:02

Morning all...

Hope everyone is well (ironed tummies aside !)

I woke up at 3.30 am - which is unusual for me as I normally manage to sleep all night. Felt very sick and had a compulsion to tidy the bathroom Was convinced labour was imminent - but no signs this morning. Hoping the baby will be born over the weekend as I have never been overdue before and EDD is Sunday. Of course, now I have said that I will be sitting here in 2 weeks time - moaning about being over due.

Offer for the house was turned down - but it was a VERY cheeky offer We'll go back with a bigger one tomorrow.

Boo boo/Sazzy/Morocco/Kitty/Jay/Mossy - where are you this morning ? Anything happening yet ?

Mistiek · 09/03/2007 10:07

Well not sure if these are BH or not as I never had BH with DS. I only had the same thing that I have now and it usually is only that intense when DH and I do the deed and lying down makes them worse.

last time it only started the day before DS was due and then I went a week late and exactly one week later same thing happened and my waters broke.

This time its strating now - 3 weeks before EDD and everytime we have done it they seem to get worse and closer. So not sure if they are doing anything to the cervix. I have also had slight contractions all day for the last 2 days. Grrr just wish there was some way of telling whats going on. Was thinking of going to buy some rasberry leaf tea today - but that is only if I can musster up enough energy to walk into town.

Piffle · 09/03/2007 10:09

mistiek if you go into labour naturally can you deliver? or do you have to have CS regardless

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 09/03/2007 10:20

Laidback, sorry the house offer was turned down , better luck with the mext offer. Which part of Cornwall is the house in? it's such a lovely part of England. I particularly love the north coast, around Padstow and Tintagel.
There is nothing going on here. I've decided not to talk about my preg anymore, I would rather talk about anything else and focus on everything BUT that. It helps to make it all a bit more bearable iykwim.

Rosy, really glad your dh is coming back. Will he stay now until the birth?

Evenhope, have you got any ideas name-wise? You could always run some past us

Eids, hope your ironed bump is not too sore today

Lunar, glad the backache has subsided, let's hope it doesn't come back eh?

Theblonde, do you think you need to have a stern word with your dh?

Mistiek, I'm amazed you can even contemplate doing 'the deed'. I think I would rather pull my finger nails out !

Sazzy, that's an easier way to think about things noe, then anything you get before 2 weeks over will be a bonus.

It's a lovely sunny day again today. The ground is still really wet though, it would be nice to have a spell of dry weather.
Well 3 out of 5 kids are STILL ill, I thought they were getting better but now they've taken a turn for the worse.
Speak later x

TheBlonde · 09/03/2007 10:32

Kitty - sorry to hear of continued illness

Right I am after votes...
Should I have a massage or reflexology on Saturday?
I will be 39+4 and won't be able to have another treatment til the following Saturday

rosylonginglily · 09/03/2007 10:37

Kitty, once he gets here I'll not be letting him leave! I'm due on Sunday.

Laidback, I shall also be most annoyed if I don't have the baby this weekend! I hope you get the house!

rosylonginglily · 09/03/2007 10:38

The blonde have both!

Jaysecond · 09/03/2007 10:41

morning all.........due date today........i am with Kitty, no more talk about my pregnancy, i am fed up, heavy, sore, emotional, angry, intolerant, aggressive and much more beside, thats how i am.....

Hope everyone else is having a bit more of a positive day!

Mistiek · 09/03/2007 10:51

Piffle my C-sec is elective due to a previous emergency C-sec as DS got stuck. So I have every chance of having a perfectly normal VBAC. I have always said that if I go into labour before C-sec date then would consider giving it another go - so not worried at all about going into labour early or trying for vbac if I do.

Sazzy hope you have good day out with you mum.

Laid back sorry about the first offer being declined - here is holding thumbs for your next offer to be accepted.

Kitty sorry the kids are so ill still...

Anyone heard from Jay?

Chocpenny baby is definately engaged and very low down at the moment and I still get breathless so maybe its not a bad sign - try stay positive (I should practice what I preach)

Has anyone one had any experienc with refelxology, lavinder bath oils, pineapples and rasberry leaf tea... only getting desperate now as cant take these constant contractions anymore.

Mistiek · 09/03/2007 10:53

Hey Jay was just wondering where you were.

How is DD is she feeling better? Hope all is well

So sorry you are feeling so fed up I am sending you >>>>

Jaysecond · 09/03/2007 11:00

Hi Mistiek, DD's penicillin seems to have kicked in and today was the first day in over a week she has eaten something more than half a yoghurt, so i thin shes on the mend. Still grouchy and very clingy but at least shes not thrwoing up and has started to eat and drink. Thanks for the positive vibes! I know i am not the only one who feels pants, and i know that things will kick off soon, just hate feeling like an oversize 'heferlump'!

going to do some washing and have a hoover, might even scrub the floor........anything to take my mind of it all!

Piffle · 09/03/2007 11:25

The oil used for helping contractions is clary sage Mistiek
Raspberry leaf tea helps tone the uterus
I am on 3 cups a day plus the odd rub of clary sage or a drop or 3 in the bath.
If you search MN archives on clary sage you get some interesting opinions on it.
Varied obviously....
I'm getting the "have you had it yet" texts already. Dp gets told every time he goes home, "maybe we'll see you tomorrow, maybe not"
MIl is calling often - she is a delight I don't mind her one bit, they have cancelled a weekend in London to be on call as my own mother has buggered off into the sunset after promising to be her for the 2 wks beforehand so that dd could be at the birth if she wanted...

Am truly hacked off with my mum
Anywya I'm sorting out our bedroom for the homebirth - getting baby clothes ready, towles, mattress protectors and extra sheets etc
Plus candles cd's anything I cna think of.

well it kills time if nothign else

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 09/03/2007 12:59

Theblonde is this just for a treat? Or is it to try and get things moving?
I would say go for the massage and have a lovely relaxing time. I personnaly think there is little point in trying to get things moving until past 40 weeks ( unless you think you deliver early). I say this because in my experience the baby will come when it is ready and it is much more likely to be ready the more OVER 40 weeks you go. If it isn't ready you can have all the accupuncture, reflexology, pineapples, sex, tea etc in the world and it most probably won't make any difference. After many times of waiting the long wait and trying things in desperation I have finally come to realise I just have to wait until the baby is ready. I really hope that for all of you it's as close to now as it can be .

muppethasakitten · 09/03/2007 13:21

Just popped in to see how my due date buddy Jay was doing??? Your posts would indicate you're waiting for it to start Jay... get nesting girl!

Mistiek - i used the clary sage oil the night b4 i was induced... had desperatly tried everything as knew the hours were ticking by since my waters had gone. My friend dropped it round at 2.00am with the words "Go steady with this... it's dynamite!"

Unfortunately it did bugger all - maybe i had left it too late. Rubbed it over my stomach... burnt it in an oil burner... smeared it on my arms! Oh well... at least i smelt nice the next day!

Chocolatepenny - i did have Samuel at the rsch - but wasn't there saturday night. I was in all day monday and monday night - it all kicked off tuesday so you wouldn't have wanted to be labouring then... all delivery suites were in use and mw's were running around like headless chickens.

Lovely mw's there included - Barbara, Lucy, Raphael (trainee), Becky and Kim (who delivered us)... awful one to refuse (imo) was lady called Helen... quite senior but no bedside manner whatsoever - almost sarcastic in her replies to you. Other than that - service was excellent... you'll be well looked after there.

Sazzy - well done for still hanging in there... it will be any day soon i'm sure, and when your waters go you'll have some fine stories to tell!

Sorry not to have posted for a while - forgotten how much babies take up your time! Am on third top of hte day and Samuel is on 5th outfit. Praise be for washing machines.

Keeping you all in my thoughts ladies.. will check back to see how you all are soon. Jay - still sending you positive birthing buddy vibes!

TheBlonde · 09/03/2007 13:32

Kitty - it's not a treat really, I had a massage last weekend
Just feeling undecided - she did a few of the reflexology points last weekend and it was quite sore
