am too excited to sleep

sazzybee · 05/03/2007 11:58

fox - I realised the other day (well I didn't - my mum pointed it out) that I've been telling people I'm 43. But I'm not - I'm only 42! I blame you
I'm going in this pm to have them have a look and I expect they'll try and do a sweep again. The woman last week had stubby fingers and couldn't reach (sorry if tmi)
I'm also going to ask them loads of questions about the induction because I was so shocked when they mentioned it last week, I didn't bother asking.
Mossy - I wish I did have DT flatpacked to send you but it's only a video.
Jay - I like Jensen best and Marshall least of those names.
MistieK - hiya. Sorry to hear about your dad - that must have been hard. I negotiated with my consultant to take my iron tabs every other day which seems to be working on raising my levels while not bunging me up entirely. And drinking loads and loads of water and eating dried apricots. I cannot drink prune juice - it makes me retch!

Mossie · 05/03/2007 12:00

Well I suppose you can never say never... but you have to get this one out first!

I think seeing me pg has put dh off having any more for life but we'll have to see how we go. I'd like three tbh but I reckon I'll have a hard enough time persuading dh to go for a second!

Mossie · 05/03/2007 12:01

X posts Sazzy good luck with the sweep!

Piffle · 05/03/2007 12:03

foxy you're like me
If I could guarantee a girl for little sister for dd, I'd go again
DP would express horror mind you...
Yes this is my 3rd and my body knows it.
Cannot get in with bloody midwife this wk for 38 wk check.
Grrr cannot get in until a week on friday when I'll be 39 wks or in my dreams POST NATAL by then

sazzy fingers crossed for you going naturally ASAP

Foxy loved your convo with birth centre priceless

Mossy enjoy your hoem time
Lunar, glad you're winding downwork wise but even so....

rosylonginglily · 05/03/2007 12:03

Hee hee yes Fox you have to go for another after this It's your duty Yes I noticed the moss covered rocks on that picture! See she just gets everywhere

I'm getting occasional BH no where near as many or as powerful as at the end of my last pregnancy so that makes me think I've still got ages to go and I'm really not in the mood! I have a total attitude problem at the moment!

MistieK I've been guzzling gallons of grapefruit juice and avoiding the constipation mostly. I've heard good things about spatone too.

Piffle · 05/03/2007 12:04

ahhh the joys of a first baby Sazzy, nice high cervix, mine would come out to greet them

Mossie · 05/03/2007 12:09

Rosy I'm clearly a calming influence!

Piffle I am indeed enjoying my home time... although it is now past twelve and I'm starting to feel like I should be doing something... I'm going to go and make a list I think!

rosylonginglily · 05/03/2007 12:11

Moss, if calming is the same as causing hilarity then yes...

Mossie · 05/03/2007 12:22

Rosy I do hope that's a compliment! (Complement?)

I have decided to cook spag bol for tea from my new cookbook (recommended to me on another thread - very simple, fool-proof recipes) but have no tomato / tomato sauce / puree or even anything tomato related, so am going to walk into town now... it's a twenty / twenty five minute walk if I wasn't pg... so wish me luck!

rosylonginglily · 05/03/2007 12:25

Now I've just cut my thumb really badly on a broken cup and I can only find a really small winnie the poo plaster

I'm so grumpy and bored! and now I have a sore thumb too. Right I'm off to eat supernoodles and an iron tablet for lunch...fume fume...

rosylonginglily · 05/03/2007 12:32

It's a compliment Mossy and well done, I just forced myself to put spagetti into the pan instead of supernoodles! Full proof recipe- loads of butter and grated cheese and black pepper, that's as much cooking as I can be arsed with!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 05/03/2007 13:02

Poor you and your thumb Rosy. They're always hard to heal 'cos you use them so much

Godd luck sazzy. See if you can get a man to give the sweep, their fungers are much longer and the tend to get better results [shock, but true

Foxy, don't tire yourself out now. my prelabours go on and on and on , like Piffle's. Last time I had a good 2 weeks of very strong and very regular bh's keeping me awake night after night

Mossy, I wouldn't attempt to walk that far. I know I'd get stuck at some point and someone qould have to come and get me, Make sure you take a phone with you.

Just had a message from Diva, was a bit confused as she's changed her email address. Anyway, she's in hospital and has to stay there until she's induced on Weds. She wants to be kept updated on any more babies. She doesn't say why they're keeping her in, it must be to do with her bp. Any way, I'll send all your luck and baby vibes.

Lunar, I really don't know how you're keeping going .
I don't like these last weeks, they're more like years aren't they?

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 05/03/2007 13:03

FUNGERS? opps sorry, that's sounds positively perverse

Piffle · 05/03/2007 13:05

Send Diva our love and luck for Weds kitty...
Just picked dd up from nursery
cue another 6 BH's

Everyone there said ooh you're bump has changed shape.
Fingers crossed this means something!

rosylonginglily · 05/03/2007 13:14

Yeah Kitty tell her we are thinking about her, I thought something was up.

Jaysecond · 05/03/2007 13:17

hiya

Mistiek, welcome to the thread, sorry to hear about your Dad, and the stresses your feeling, try to keep a sense of reality about you and focus on getting yourself fighting fit for the birth of your new baby!

Thanks for the comments on the names, to be honest just about everyone of the connetations you guys have come up with i have already thought about, apart from Travis being a tractor!! Anyway its good to have others thoughts, i also like Troy as a name but forgot to put it down!

Piffle glad you got some sleep last night, i so wish i had!!

Well have been to the docs, again, both DD and i have ear and throat infections, god we just cant shift these horrid viruses that are going round, i basically told the doc i wanted penicillin, i need to get rid of this before Friday as the latest, cant be going into labour feeling crap. Poor DD too, shes just wants to sleep all the time, not eating not drinking, just looking all sad and forlorn, breaks my heart!

Good for you Fox at cancelling your induction, do what YOU want. The birthing centre sounds lovely, hope those contractions pick up for you!

Lol sazzy @ 'she had stubby fingers' poor you, hope you get a nice 'long fingered' doc next time!!

Wonder what the outcome of this next scan will be, have to go this afternoon to check the weight and size, one week hes of the scale next hes below average....strange goings on i tell you!!!!!

Booboobedoo · 05/03/2007 13:53

Hi everyone! Welcome mistiek: so sorry to hear about your Dad .

Kitty: do pass on my love to Diva as well: hope she's ok.

Piffle: I'm even jealous of your BHs! I had one contraction last night. Pathetic.

Jay: sorry you're so poorly. Really hope you feel better soon. (I like Marshall, btw).

Foxy: I've been trying the nipple-twiddling, but am too knackered to walk really. Most of my friends who've been through labour recently have advised me not to exercise too much anyway to try and conserve energy for labour, but I want to avoid being induced. I want my homebirth! Is DH still on paternity leave, or has he gone back to work? Think my DH was disappointed that he had to go back today . Hope you and Muppet both start properly today/tonight.

Rosy: re your DH's mad flitting around: we simply detatch.

Callie: your DH sounds impressive! Wish I'd had the guts to just plump for a writing career. Am currently planning to write a huge, sprawling, self-indulgent novel when I retire. You're a writer too, aren't you?

I've got an appointment with the community midwife on Wednesday (I think: can't find my bleedin' diary). Do you think I should ask for a sweep? Will I regret it? I've got long pianist's fingers: maybe I should just have a go myself. If I can't reach, I'm sure I've got a pair of chopsticks somewhere...

I've got a pineapple sitting in my fruitbowl, but I just can't face it. I haven't been able to stomach fruit though this whole PG - MS then heartburn. Plus it makes me think of that scene in Little Nicky where Hitler's in hell wearing a pink tutu.

40+2
Boy

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 05/03/2007 14:28

Booboo rofl with the chopsticks
Personally I've never found sweeps to be unpleasant or painful. A tad uncomfortable sometimes, it depends who's doing them. The only successful one I had was done by a man

rosylonginglily · 05/03/2007 14:49

Booboo chopsticks Yeah if Dh was glued to me I'd go mad, I am not easy to please! oh and I'm writing a book too...one sentence every 6 months!

I'm supposed to be having a sweep next thurs when I'll be 40 + 4 if I still need one by then I'll be unsurprised but spitting teeth!

LaidbackinEngland · 05/03/2007 14:56

Welcome Mistiek ... you are in good company here

Just got back from the midwife. All looking OK . Baby lying in good position for labour ...but no inidications of imminent birth i.e. whilst I plan to be in Cornwall. Accidently on purpose "forgot" to tell her about my little visit planned tomorrow

Boo - I have never had a sweep - but if you think it will spped things up - why not ?

Kitty - say hi to Diva if you text - looks like her babe will be here by Thursday.

Well done to bethoo too !

LaidbackinEngland · 05/03/2007 14:57

or even speed things up ......

DollyPopsOut · 05/03/2007 15:06

Sorry for everyone who is badly slept. I slept like a brick as i must have walked about 3 miles yest which given my hugeness is no mean feat! I must weigh in excess of 2 tonnes as well so that would explain why I just conked out.

I would definitely have a sweep to get things moving if I could - the consultant tried last time but no luck. It wasn't painful, just a bit uncomfortable. Mind you, I was so fed up that if she'd offered to sweep my eyeball, i'd probably have let her.

Welcome Mistiek, so sorry to hear about your dad. Your DS sounds a similar age to my DD (23 months yest). I am booked for an elective CS on 19th MArch. Can't come soon enough.

Had my scan this morning with only a 4 hour wait . Fluid levels high but not worrying. Turns out baby is estimated to weigh 8lbs already, with 3 weeks til due date. Thank god the CS is booked, otherwise she'd be truly enormous.

Love to all. Can't wait for some more baby news soon XXXXXX

TheBlonde · 05/03/2007 15:11

Booboobedoo - not convinced self-sweeping is possible myself but did you see the thread on feeling your own cervix?

Kitty - pass on my best wishes to Diva, at least she has a date now, hope she's not too poorly

Mossie · 05/03/2007 15:26

Omg I am knackered. Just walked into town and back, and all round Aldi and the Asda. I have decided once and for all that St Helens Aldi is a waste of time. Never again.

  1. They don't have baskets, only trolleys
  2. Apart from the odd special offer, loads of stuff there is really manky and the veg looks like it belongs on the antiques roadshow 3 and this is the clincher) It isn't actually cheaper than the Asda anyway.

So I will continue with doing the big shop in the Asda and getting the odd bit from Tesco now and again for a treat.

Sorry about your cut thumb Rosy. I think that calls for chocolate

Kitty I took my phone with me, I had mil's number, and money for a taxi, just in case. But I just about managed it [irrationally proud emoticon]!

Please can you pass on my best wishes to Diva, I hope she is all right, it must be frustrating being kept in but at least they can keep an eye on her and her bp.

Jay hope you feel better soon.

Booboo how long will they "allow" you to go over before they try and induce you?

Laidback hope you enjoy your time in Cornwall tomorrow and that the house is just right for you!!

Dolly lol at "sweep my eyeball"! I think I might draw the line there!

Right I am going to soak my poorly feet in some soapy water and then get on with the tea. I have that "music choice" channel on, the one where you select a CD and it just plays it with no interruptions. I've had it on Chill Out most of the day, but it's starting to bore me now so I might liven it up. Get the party started!

ZZZzzzzz.... maybe not!
