Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
1973magpie · 03/03/2007 16:09

Afternoon All,

Well, another one has popped

Amelie Maude was born at 11.16pm last night, weighing in at a very respectable 8lb

Managed to get my homebirth in the end, very chilled labour until the last 20 mins or so, had a 4 (yes 4!) minute second stage , (considerably better than the 4.5 hrs with DD1 - although it was intense at the time!!), and DD2 arrived on the bathroom floor

All are doing well here, DD1 very impressed with new sister, DD2 has slept pretty much since birth, just waking for bf every 3-4hrs long may it continue!!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 03/03/2007 16:21

Excellent news Magpie, very well done. Another girl so glad you got your homebirth

Diva, hope evrything's ok. keep us posted

Laidback, I love Cornwall, such a lovely part of the country. Trouble is it takes such a long time to drive there from here. You'll be having alot of toilet breaks then? .

It's a lovely day here very warm and spring-like. It's supposed to be horrid tomorrow. I'm going for another sleep now, had 2 hours this morning and still feel exhausted.

Soryy to anyone I've missed I've got really bad jelly brains today.

TheBlonde · 03/03/2007 16:27

Magpie - Many congrats

Diva - Hope you feel better soon

Jaysecond · 03/03/2007 16:28

maggie, huge congrats to you and hubby, you must be delighted with your new arrival, 4mins - thats impressive, and 8lbs is a good weight also!

Kitty, good on you for going for a sleep, i have just put DD down for a sleep, so i am going to put my feet up and try and have half an hours, have sis mum and her partner round tonight for curry and triv, need som esleep b4 that!

divastropwantstodrop · 03/03/2007 16:42

congratulations magpie

4 mins!i want a 4 min 2nd stage!!!

baby has been moving a bit more, head is hurting off and on but my sinuses are still bad so thats probably why.i'm going to see how it goes for the next couple of hours i think.

sazzybee · 03/03/2007 17:06

Congratulations magpie! I like to think that good birth stories will rub off on me
Obviously pictures when you have a mo. I know holding new babies is supposed to bring on labour so I'm sure that looking at pics can only have a positive effect.
jaysecond - that is lovely to hear about your grandparents. I went to see my nan the other day - she's quite excited about being a greatgrandma again. I know nothing about measles I'm afraid but NHS direct were brilliant when I had a horrid bout of puking and diorrhea (I know that's not how you spell it but I can't be bothered to look it up!) a few months' back so hope they can give you some reassurance.
diva - take it easy. If it gets any worse again, I think you should go and get checked out. Nag nag ... x

Piffle · 03/03/2007 17:19

Magpie huge congrats so chuffed your homebirth went so swimmingly, I'm on target for one as well... Am getting prepared now
Gorgeous name btw but I would say that
8lbs not too bad at all, m/w says she thinks this guy inside will hit 8lbs, my 2 others were ds 42 wks - 7lbs 11oz and dd 38 wks 7lbs 8oz so quite close in weights.

Well today has been a whole bunch of fun, stand up = BH after bloody BH

Am finding it impossible to get through day without laying down for at least an hour in the afternoon and often longer.
thankfully dd still obliges with a nap most days.

My mum is mucking me around now as well - after promising to be our main support chief and staying the 2 wks before EDD, she ahs now announced she will house sit my brothers flat in London while he is in NZ until the 16th March then she is taking a job on the 19th.

So am relying on darling PIL to dash over here (they are only 1hr away) to help with ds and dd if we need it. They'll be chuffed to get first dabs on the baby though.
But my mum I could have in the room holding dd safely as dd wants to be there, I can't have the same with MIL

Diva hope your head is ok, it's awful not being able to take decent decongestants, I had really bad sinus pain a few wks back and it was grim.
Try hot and cold compresses to the cheeks, they helped me a lot as well as steam steam and more steam.

Boo, I would despair to get to my EDD without a baby, here's hoping you're not waiting much longer.

xxxxx

muppetisacat · 03/03/2007 18:23

Boo go outside and try to see the moon - dance around a bit - see if it has an effect!!! (make sure your neighbours can't see you)

Can honestly say the full moon is having bugger all effect on me.

Foxy's gone a bit quiet though hasn't she???

Magpie wonderful news - sounds like a darn good birth to me - doesn't get much faster then a 4 min second stage! Were you a bit shocked!? Can't remember when you were due but it seems to me we have an awful lot of babies already considering we are a march thread and only on the 3rd day!!!

Jay - birth buddy - we're both going to be gunning for something this week aren't we?

Still no news from bethoo?

Laidback - if your waters break whilst viwing the house do you think there is an ancient cornish law which means you actually should get some money off it???

Off to gaze at the moon - bit desperate really aren't i?

rosylonginglily · 03/03/2007 19:19

Apparently there's a lunar eclipse tonight and the moon will glow red!!!! T'wood have been a great night to give birth! Come on Fox and Booboo!!!

Congratulations Magpie!!!Wow that sounds fantastic and you seem totally chilled. I think you've made a few of us yearn for a similar experience!

Spongecake wonder if the baby's head is engaging more and causing the pressure at the bottom of your bump?

Laidback you are mad but it has to be done! The house sounds great with it's own wood, how lovely! I am hoping that dh will reappear by thursday or Friday so by then we shall both be ready to produce!!!

Diva I hope you get better soon. You need to build up your strength now, it'll be any day!

Booboobedoo · 03/03/2007 19:20

Congratulations Magpie! Enjoy cuddling your tiny one.

Good idea girls: am off to howl at the moon in the garden: sod the neighbours.

(Not sure about jumping up and down Sazzy : I'd just wet myself).

Bet foxy's in labour...

AAAAAWOOOOOOOOH!

Mossie · 03/03/2007 19:30

Oh Evenhope I'm sorry your lo has turned breech. What do they mean when they say they "won't let you" deliver a breech baby normally? Is it fear of litigation or just that they don't have the skills any more?

Foxy if your sister is the needy type I concur wholeheartedly. The last thing you want when you have just had a baby is someone wanting you to be the "hostess with the mostess"!! Although... if she could be persuaded to help out like Kitty's rellies?

Muppet what is it with your mw and the sweeps?

Spongcake sorry your sister is a bit crap. This should be all about you! Although maybe that's why she's going off on one?

Laidback hope the house in Cornwall is a good one, it is lovely in that "neck of the woods" so I believe (not been for years like!)

Diva are you all right? Hopefully you've called the hospital by now, hope everything is okay!

Booboo I am always up early, but I usually have my driving lesson at nine on a Saturday so I have to make sure I'm up and dressed and ready. Now I've finished work though I'm swapping to Thursday mornings. (I am usually in bed by ten though, especially atm!) I hope your lo isn't too late, although I read that babies are often late in first pgcys. In my mind I've added another week onto my edd. Don't want to go over ten days though or they induce me... I'd rather not if I can avoid it! Still... full moon & lunar eclipse, surely the portents are good?

Jay glad you got to see your grandparents and it sounded like you had a good visit.

Magpie... CONGRATULATIONS! And how lovely you got the homebirth and everything that you wanted! Lovely name too!

Kitty it was nice here today as well. But yes, it's going to be horrible tomorrow! We spent most of the day in the front room, it gets the sun! Hope you had a nice sleep.

Sazzy I like that idea about pictures bringing on labour... come on you post-natal Marchers, get more piccies up!!

Piffle sorry you've not been having such a great day. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Muppet good look with your moon gazing!

Well, I was having a lovely day until dh got in one of his infamous sulks. Something about me not putting a bin bag back in a bin, but knowing dh it won't just be about that, oh no, it'll be about some deep underlying issue blah blah blah. Ffs you wouldn't think he was 29 in two weeks' time and about to be a Dad in just under four weeks' time! I'd say he's acting like a teenager but I think that might be an insult to quite a few teenagers!

Oh well, never mind, it'll either blow over, or he'll tell me what's wrong in the end. I'm not playing the bleedin' guessing game again that's for sure!

Mossie · 03/03/2007 19:31

Xposts Booboo / Rosy... Stuff the moon... I think I might try howling at dh, see if that does the trick.

foxabout2pop · 03/03/2007 19:59

Hiya big girls 0 well all I can say is "fecking hall"

I have been walking, hoovering, going up and down the bluddy stairs all day and all its given me is a bad back. The contractions are still doing their stop/start game and are no where near the pain of proper contractions.

On the good side, its really nice having DH at home - he started his paternity leave on Thursday 'cos of my show. Usually he works 6 days, so the last two days have felt like lovely lazy Sundays

Just hope Monti arrives before his paternity leave is over

Looks like no full moon Monti anyway

Magpie - I have to admit I am - congratulations on having a lovely homebirth and a beautiful girl - and on your excellent choice of name

Diva - am worried about you - have you been to the hossie yet?

Laidback - the house sounds too good to miss. BTW I am a hippy too so can Sazzy and I come and camp in your woods?

I hope everyone else is OK - guess we'd better enjoy the wait anyway - the calm before the storm.

40 weeks today

DollyPopsOut · 03/03/2007 20:02

Hello girls

Foxy's gone AWOL - do you think she's up and running? I hope so. The full moon turning red sounds too good to miss. Booboo, I hope you're in the garden right now howling away! Sorry there's been no action yet but there is still time.

Diva - sorry you are feeling poorly. How are you now? Sinus pain is rotten isn't it?

Glad you got to spend some time with your grandparents Jay .

Congratulations Magpie - lovely name .

Hello Mossy buddy and Sazzy water buddy. And hope all you other lovely ladies are well. Evenhope, I think if you get on your hands and knees with your bum in the air you can encourage the baby to turn. It must be worth a try.

Had really bad hormones today and yelled / sulked at everyone. Have been really poor company but hope everyone will forgive me. DH suggested a short walk after lunch. You'd have thought he'd suggested scaling everest the way I bit his head off. Poor man, he must feel that he is between a rock and a hard place. Which he is

foxabout2pop · 03/03/2007 20:05

Dollypops - nah, I'm here!

rosylonginglily · 03/03/2007 20:10

Don't worry fox, at least something is happening even if it's not much It'll all go up a gear before you know it!
Maybe you should stop hoovering and being manic as that's not working..try relaxing totally, rest, do yoga , meditate on your navel...let go, float upon the big river of creation and let mother nature possess you...I shall also be coming camping in Laidback's wood as you can tell

rosylonginglily · 03/03/2007 20:10

let go......

morocco · 03/03/2007 20:37

it's all hotting up on here
congratulations magpie and shanks, hope you are both getting some much needed sleep.

evenhope, my dd kept turning round and round at every mw check but at the scan last week she'd gone head down again. moxibustion is supposed to have a good success rate - get to the acupuncturist quick before the consultants get to you . and dont listen to all that rubbish about not letting you deliver a breech baby - if that's what you want, then insist! there's loads on the internet about it and if you ask to speak to a senior mw at the hosp they might be a lot more supportive than the consultants (that's what I was advised 'on the sly' by my mw)

spongecake - sorry your sister is being a drama queen, I feel like half my family is like that too, have to get in on the action with some stupid problem or other!! aaargh.

laidback - house sounds lovely ! fingers crossed you get it and at a nice cheap price.

piffle - sorry to hear bx are so bad. hopefully a good sign that labour will be earlier rather than later

sounds like more of us are gearing up for action. looking forward to reading more birth stories.
mw is coming over tomorrow to talk about hb so maybe I will be having a hb after all, dh is well freaked out about it but I feel lazier and lazier, cant b e bothered with the drive to hosp and fancy staying put near the tea and biscuits

rosylonginglily · 03/03/2007 21:07

Morocco good luck with the Homebirth project! Must admit, it seems a very attractive idea to me too at the moment!

eidsvold · 03/03/2007 21:24

congrats magpie. another girl.

spongecake · 03/03/2007 21:39

congrats magpie, what a pretty name

had a lovely afternoon nap today which made up for being awake most of the night.

diva, hope you are ok, did you go to hospital?

jaysecond, hope your little girl is ok.

Piffle, your mum sounds a bit butterfly like! seems like the parents/relatives of some of us have decided to be a pain all at once.

Jaysecond · 03/03/2007 22:51

anyone see/seeing the eclipse?

sazzybee · 03/03/2007 22:56

Me - I am watching and taking photos. They won't be very good but I have never seen an eclipse before. I obviously haven't been looking

DollyPopsOut · 03/03/2007 23:01

Just been out in the road to have a gawp... it's lovely. All pink with a white top. I am very impressed.

Had a 2 hour nap since my last post and am now wide awake. WIll have a quick look at some of the livelier threads to see what's happening. Far too scared to post of course - I'll just lurk quietly.

Hope we all sleep well. See you tomorrow.XXX
