New thread before the old one explodes!

I'm not surprised you're pissed off spongecake - how selfish your sister is being
Is the family staying a different family from yours then? I'm confused. I'm freaking out about the idea of my family coming for the day a week after the birth - a week would do my head in but then I'm a bit weird about houseguests. What happens if your LO is late? Would you be happy them being there as you start labour?

shanks313 · 02/03/2007 23:21

Hi

Well I think we are settling down with Deanna now.She is being bottle fed every 4 to 5 hours and then she sleeps a few hours so hopefully it will be easy to get a routine.
I dont know if its just a coincidence but I started drinking raspberry leaf tea last Saturday,3 days after my waters broke.Although we tried fresh pineapple,BD,walking, birthing ball as well.
I was moaning to my DH on Tuesday night that whatever I tried wasnt making her come out. Then I felt a pop and it had happened LOL

rosylonginglily · 03/03/2007 07:26

Aaw Congratulations Shanks! A little girl YAY!!!

Leo all your boys are gorgeous!

sympathy to everyone who are struggling a bit at the moment.

Foxy where's Monti???? Don't forget to train your ds to post a message here and let us know

Diva lol you are funny

I had such a fantastic 2nd birthday celebration yesterday. My sister in scotland totally surprised me by turning up everyone had been keeping it a secret, I was thrilled.
Then had a brilliant night out with my lovely lovely friends, sisters and niece.
Now I have a headache from excitement hangover! I couldn't have asked for a more fantastic 40th in the end!

Dh is leaving for cork today so no baby for me this full moon. My legs are crossed again and I'm hoping to keep him in for another week or so

Mossie · 03/03/2007 07:55

Bleedin' eck! I spend one day with dh instead of mn and look what happens! A birth, new photies, endless innuendo (Diva, you deserve an award for getting pineapple, saveloy and the blackwall tunnel into the same post) and it sounds like I've even missed a contentious thread somewhere too!

Shanks - congratulations! And as Booboo says, it must have been a massive relief that you managed to do it before they got to you with the hoover! Now {drums fingers} all we require are photographs!

Leo your little ones are so adorable.

Everyone else - I'll be honest, I've lost my way around these messages a bit! I'll be better on Monday when I'm on my bill again and dh has gone back to work.

And talking of photographs, we got a digital camera the other day (again courtesy of NatWest - Foxy how's it going btw?) so at some point I will post pictures of my lovely pets. I know, it's not quite as exciting as babies but it'll do until Bertie arrives!

Well, off to have some toast and watch before my driving lesson!

Mossie · 03/03/2007 07:57

Forgot to say, hello & welcome Hanifah!

evenhope · 03/03/2007 08:23

Had the midwife round last night to talk about the arrangements for the home birth. All was going great until she checked the baby. After what felt like hours of painful prodding she looked worried and said she thinks she's turned and is now breech. Why???!!! She's been head down all this time. I have been aware of an awful lot of wriggling in the last few days..

Apparently our hospital "won't let you" deliver a breech baby normally so she's sending me for an urgent scan this morning to double check. She said they will try to turn her. When I said won't that hurt she said yes. Mmmm. As she'd told me the amnio doesn't hurt and it did I dread to think how much worse this will be.

I know there were some other footlings on the thread but can't remember whose. Anyone else still breech or did they turn?

foxabout2pop · 03/03/2007 09:15

Evenhope - that's bad news, but I think other babies have turnefd breech then turned back again...can anyone advise????

Lunar, your DS's school sounds brilliant!

Rosy - what a fantastic surprise

Sponge - is your sister attention seeking or something, she should be supporting you, not creating more work for you to do

My sister wanst to come up next Saturday 10th and I'm saying "no". They all came up a week after DD and its a bloody nightmare TBH. You might have stitches, you might be struggling with BFding, or you might just feel totally exhausted and want to stay in your nightie all day. We got mobbed after DS and DD and this time I'm being much firmer and saying we want two weeks to ourselves before family converge on us.

Other people may feel differently though...?

I've had more bloody show this morning and lots of contractions during the night but they still keep stopping/starting. The MW has told me to go for a big walk and I see the sun has just come out, so we'll see if a walk can start things off today...

oh come on Monti!

eidsvold · 03/03/2007 09:22

Leo your twins are gorgeous. Shanks - congrats.

Not much happening here. Back to being very hot and humid. Hopefully taking the dds swimming tomorrow morning so that should make the heat a little easier to bear.

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 03/03/2007 09:51

Foxy and sponge, I think it very much depends on what your family are like doesn't it?
If they are coming to support YOU, cook, clean, amuse other kids etc then that's great. If they require ANY sort of attention for themselves or create any other work, like even having to clear up after them then it should be a no go.
My dad and stepmum arrived the day dd3 was born (coincidently, they were coming anyway) and it was wonderful. They cooked , cleaned entertained the kids. The evening if the day when she was born I remember making my way downstairs with the baby to a lovely home made pizza and salad and a yummy glass of wine. I had that then trundled back up to bed. Can't ask for more than that

muppetisacat · 03/03/2007 10:26

evenhope my lo was breech from 20 weeks right up to 38 ish weeks - I was booked into have c-section (last thurs) but literally a few days b4 - he turned down by himself... mw was very shocked but clearly these babies are still quite capable of moving around at this late stage.

All I can suggest is all fours for serious amounts of time (like watch a film in that position) and frozen peas on top of bump.

I do know people who've had the ECV done and say it's actually not that bad - just be aware that it may mean you're off to have the baby then and there if bubba doesn't like them turning him.

Best of luck - it's such an annoyance for you I really feel for you - I hope things work out ok.

foxy - enjoy your walk - it's a beautiful day here too. Nothing like spring sunshine to cheer everyone up (and let's face it we could do with some cheering up the moods most of us are in!)

My mw wanted to do another sweep on me yesterday! No! She laughed. She is clearly obsessed with them. I said that my show had come away in the week so there'd be nothing left for her to "Sweep" but apparantly it replenishes itself and the real reason it just to boost your prostaglandins by having a good dig around! I'm going to start having nightmares of her chasing me round the bed with those hideous latex gloves on...

39+1

spongecake · 03/03/2007 11:31

thx for support ladies.... my sister is attention seeking -she never thought i would get married and have a baby, so she always acted very superior. its been quite a shock for her.

my dp's parents are booked to come, flights and all. when we agreed it didn;t occur to us to check dates. the thought of having to get dressed everytime I want to go to the loo in the night and stagger bath times makes me feel stressed already. they are lovely though, although his mum is a baby expert. yup, dreading it now.

am going to avoid a sweep as I think as it sounds awful read on a thread that it only works if you are 24/48 hours away from giving birth anyway.

Rosy, your birthday sounded great, what a nice surprise

foxabout2pop · 03/03/2007 11:32

Muppet - !!

Kitty - your famille sound great. Mine expect food and drink and leave me with the washing up!

foxabout2pop · 03/03/2007 11:35

Sponge - sounds like you've acheived what your sister would actually like herself and she's trying to create a small sideshow with her demands.

Your in laws may turn out to be more help than you think though.. you can always hide in the bedroom can't you and just say "I'm resting" or "I'm feeding the baby"

spongecake · 03/03/2007 11:42

fox, yes am being positive about it as its going to happen- they are coming and I expect they will feel awkward too! have every intention of hiding in bedroom if things get too much, although dp will be on paternity leave and he will take them sight seeing etc.

my sister has 3 grown up children and a dp-she doesn;t believe in marriage, gave up work moment got pregnant and hasn't since... ooh 22 years. they have no mortgage or debt and she still can;t bear anyone to be happy. right thats it enough now folks (relief!)

had little pains in the night, so got up to watch tv- snowboarding champs! so cool- made me feel v old nothing this am though.

LaidbackinEngland · 03/03/2007 12:25

Afternoon !

Hope everyone is having a productive Saturday. I have spent the morning washing nappies and hanging them out to dry .... which takes blimmin ages ! Oh well only a few more to do and then I'm set.

In a moment of madness I have arranged to go and view a house in Cornwall on Weds morning. Planning to drive down on Tues night and come back Weds afternoon . Am I mad ? If baby comes during the time I am away, I assume I will just have to drive to a random hospital. I just can't let this house get away .... it has it's own wood ! So Rosy.... I too am crossing my legs until Weds evening !!

As for the family thing... well as you know I am living with my mother at the moment. She swings from being uber supportive to a little narky ..... but generally ok. She made the kids breakfast this morning and so I had an extra hour in bed so I can't complain.

Evenhope ... hope the baby behaves and turns round again by herself ....naughty little lady !

Any little werewolf babies coming out today ?

sazzybee · 03/03/2007 12:58

Laidback - A house in Cornwall! With a wood! How completely fantastic. If you gave birth down there then I would take it as a sign. God - I'm such a sad hippy sometimes.
Evenhope - mine was breech and turned himself around at about 36 weeks or so. I don't know when you're due but don't give up hope. I was booked in for an ECV but I kept telling him he wouldn't like it and should turn on his own. Seems to have worked.
What a gorgeous day again - I'm off out into the garden to do some pruning.
I thought I had some period-like pains this morning and got all exciting but I think I just needed a clear out

evenhope · 03/03/2007 14:34

I'm due 19 March so almost 38 weeks. Doesn't sound too hopeful but thanks for the encouraging words. I'm booked in for ECV on Wednesday morning

divastropwantstodrop · 03/03/2007 14:34

hi all.i started reading earlier but had to go to asda and get a new kettle cos ds1 tried to make a cup of tea last night and managed to completley kill the kettle and fuse all the circuits.he's 9.

rosy-glad to hear you had a lovely birthday.will your dh get there in time if you do go into labour before next week?

fox-i find my mother isnt very supportive.i feel i'm expected to provide food etc for her.it was bad enough when i was on my own and she came to 'help' with the kids ,now dp is around i dread to think what she'll be like.actually, she will most probably sit there and wait to be asked to do anything.i much prefer people who just walk in and make themselves at home, say'im going to make myself a brew,do you want one?'etc.

sponge-your sister sounds like a pain

my sister only sent me a card for my birthday,no present or even a phonecall(shes on about 30k a year and has no children,so its not a money issue).

i may have to ring the hospital soon cos my head is bad,my vision is blurred and i'm not atll happy with the amount this baby is moving.

38+3

divastropwantstodrop · 03/03/2007 14:43

evenhope-sorry,didnt see your posts before.i hope your baby turns.get crawling!

spongecake · 03/03/2007 14:49

Diva, hope you are ok, and its easily sorted out for you at the hospital. take it easy...

laidback, cornwall house sounds great- assume you aren't actually driving though! good luck with not going into labour on the day am with sazzy on its the baby comes whilst you are there its a sign.

bump hurts so much at bottom where it ends, feels like skin is about to burst open all the time. is this normal???

muppetisacat · 03/03/2007 15:39

Diva please ring the hospital - if only to stop all of us lot worrying about you!

Wonder if Foxy's walk has helped get her going?

Evenhope - don't give up hope - as i said i reckon my lo was about 38 weeks when he turned... and i have heard of several people who were sent home from the caesarean appointment as the scan before the op showed it had turned! i can't remember if you have had dc's b4 - I believe if you have there is obviously more room so you stand more chance.

Laidback - that's a long old drive to undertake - is there no-one that can go with you to share driving?

Booboobedoo · 03/03/2007 15:39

Afternoon.

Been frantically getting admin done this afternoon, and I think I'm pretty much there. Phew.

Evenhope: sorry to hear your baby's gone topsy-turvy. Fingers crossed she turns again!

Foxy: lots of contractions? You're definitely doing better than me .

Spongecake: weddings bring out the worst in some people. Try and rise above it. Sorry can't help you with the bump-pain question: am too inexperienced myself!

Mossy: do you always get up that early on a Saturday? I'm impressed.

Laidback: hope the house is as wonderful as it sounds.

Rosy: hope DH doesn't stay away too long.

Diva: really hope it's 'just' a migraine and you feel better soon.

Hi everyone else.

Pretty sure I'm going past my EDD then!

EDD TODAY!
Boy

sazzybee · 03/03/2007 15:50

diva - please ring the hospital!
booboo - sorry nothing's happening. Have you tried jumping up and down?
I don't know about the bump hurting at the bottom spongecake - mine feels like it's going to split in the middle but I've realised it's from sleeping with a knee bent up which squishes everything out. So I'm trying to train myself to sleep with straight legs
Must get back outside and bag up all the stuff I've pruned before I lose the will!

Jaysecond · 03/03/2007 15:51

Diva, hope youre feeling a bit better, just call the hospital, thats what they are there for, at least it will give you peace of mind.

Sazzy, lol @ 'but i think i just needed a clear out' i had that feeling yesterday!

Laidback, take it easy if you are driving to Cornwall and if you are, make sure you have your mobile on and is fully charged, some money, and warm clothes, just in case anything should happen, not that its going to of course!

Sponge, you never know your PILS may turn out to be a blessing in diguise, they cant be any worse than mine, i dont thikn i could stand hecing them here when i got out of hosptial, its bad enough we have to go and visit them, although it is in a lovely bit of Devon, so that makes up for it a bit! Re the SWEEP one of my antenatal class ladies had a sweep at 40+2, ssid it didnt hurt a bit, was quite'acceptable' and she went into labout the eving after she had it done! Guess it works for some people!

Hi to everyone else on here, hope your saturday has been good, i thought we all agreed to have our babies today...full moon etc etc!! guess theres still a bit of time to go.

I went to visit my Grandma and Grandad this morning, they were so happy to see LO, and us.. i think! Grandad is looking ok, given the circumstances, took some great pics of DD kissing him and 'loving' him, think it made his day.
Had a bit of a shock when i got home though, DD had developed a rash which covered her tummy and back, she hasnt been right for ages now and so i thought, great shes got measles.. has all the symptoms, hasnt eaten for two /three days, cold, runny nose cough etc etc.. then i remembered she had her MMR just over a week ago, looked it up and i think shes got a reaction, ie, a mild form of measles, have spoken to NHS direct but am waiting for nurse to call back, feel better now though after my self diagnosis, but want to just double check. Did anyone elses LO get symptons? It does say that only about 1 in 15 react?

LaidbackinEngland · 03/03/2007 15:59

Muppet ... DH is driving. I will just be falling out of the car at the other end and then having a look at the house !

Diva - those symptoms sound like your blood pressure again - maybe you will get your induction if you go to hospital ?

Jay - great that you had such a good time with your grandparents. I welled up when I read about your visit . I am sure you have given your grandad a real boost .

Boo - get back on some contentious threads ...it might get you going x
