May sounds a good plan, maybe can plan for that instead Smile

Lovely pic Lou!

Kskifred · 16/03/2017 15:38

my sickness and indigestion are horrendous today, i have now just brought up a load of gaviscon (which tastes effing disgusting once inside btw) it started to go away at 12 weeks, now i'm 14+2 today and feeling really depressed. Sickness i thought would be long gone. It feels like I have a load of hard cornflakes in my stomach and bowel as if i haven't chewed anything and it's making me feel more sick, just had a cry and stuck the tv on for my poor ds, i just want to curl up under the duvet Sad

LouLou030783 · 16/03/2017 17:40

Aww no ksk nothing worse than feeling that rubbish hope u feel better soon

Fluffywallow · 16/03/2017 19:39

Oh ksk that sounds rough. I've been having a worse week with sickness too - after it having nearly cleared up its been back for two days now. Fed up. Tv is also being my babysitterBlush

turtletum · 16/03/2017 20:37

Oh no ks hope you feel better soon. I had my 12 week scan today, dates spot on at 12+4 so also due Sept 24th like lou. It was lovely to baby wriggling, stretching out and drinking. I had booked a holiday to Greece in August but hoping to move it. As I'm a teacher my options are limited. Was hoping for May half term but my husband can't take time off then. I'd love to go travelling a little while on mat leave like travel but not sure I'll manage to save enough money, as my maternity pay is goes down to statutory after 4 months.

DontBeBlueBeARainbow · 17/03/2017 06:40

It's horrible when you get sickness in the second (or third!) trimester as it just doesn't seem fair. I was sick and vomiting last week and not convinced it was pregnancy related but was horrible.

We won't have a chance for a holiday this year, as it's the year of saving for us, and obviously travelling between China and the UK can cost a lot (especially as DS is almost 2...), so I'm planning a tour of Beijing's finest luxury hotels, one per month, starting this Sunday Grin Actually 2 next month because my mum is visiting and then it's my birthday!

I'm lucky that my maternity leave is full pay, but only for 6 months, so although I don't have to worry about making up the difference, etc I will be pretty annoyed when I'm going back to work with a 4.5 month old Hmm

LouLou030783 · 17/03/2017 07:00

Oh it's nice to have a dd pal turtle my last bus I don't think anyone was due same day as me

That's rubbish about ur mat pay can u equalise ur payments

Lules · 17/03/2017 08:05

Thought I was feeling better but feeling horrific today. I actually can't face getting on the tube so I'm sitting in Starbucks trying to psyche myself up for it. I hate sickness. Still, only a week til the end of term. It'll still be busy but at least I won't have to be enthusiastic to students!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 17/03/2017 09:51

Sorry your feeling so rubbish lules - it sneaks up on you sometimes doesn't it? Just as you think those symptoms are finished with they hit you again.

I've had pleasant news this morning. I weighed and took my measurements and although I've put on 3.25lbs since I was about 4 weeks pregnant, I've actually lost inches. Nothing drastic, quarter to half an inch here and there. But it does mean the weight gain thus far is fluids. I thought I'd share that incase some people were worried about gaining weight in the first trimester.I put on quite a bit of weight when pregnant with DD so will be keeping a closer eye this time. I'll take my measurements once a month and as long as my upper arms and thighs don't get any bigger I know I'm on the right track.

I've told loads of people at work now we've had the scan. There had been speculation anyway, especially as I didn't go for promotion a couple of weeks ago when a job opened up. Seeing MIL tomorrow so will tell her too.

Travelgeek · 17/03/2017 10:10

That's great cold. I've just been weighing myself on a monday morning and being conscious of not putting too much on but measuring is a good idea.

Oh lules and others still suffering. It is rubbish. I had a last few days of proper vomiting last week after it had mostly subsided and then been feeling like my normal self this week so hopefully its a final surge.

I get 18 weeks full pay too turtle, then statutory, then unpaid! Debating how long to stay off for. Do I want longer but with less money to go away with or go back earlier and be able to do more whilst I'm off...

oliversmummy26 · 17/03/2017 10:20

You ladies sound very lucky with your maternity pay! I get the standard 6 weeks at 90% then 33 weeks SMP then nothing Sad I've been in my job for 13 years!

Would love to have a holiday this year, but we're limited to school holidays and can't really justify it when we need to save for a new car and the baby and my 3 months at the end of mat leave with no pay! So also doubtful we'll be going away when baby's here either Sad Sad Sad

14+5

Travelgeek · 17/03/2017 10:37

Ah olivers, I am very lucky with it really. I've just never not worked full time since leaving uni so a diminishing pay cheque and then going part time is going to take a bit of getting used to. But then its going to be a whole new world in many respects!

I'm 15 weeks today and the app have says baby is now the size of an avocado!

EssentialHummus · 17/03/2017 12:10

Am self-employed so mat pay is a bit ropey. I will have a bit of money coming in from the house we rent out so that should tide us over.

Flowers for all those feeling unwell.

Lules · 17/03/2017 12:26

I only get SMP too olivers. I only started my job in September though so I missed enhanced pay by a few months.

Fluffywallow · 17/03/2017 14:22

Had my 16 week midwife appt today (early at 15 weeks) and heard the heartbeat Smileit was lovely. Unbelievably don't see the midwife again now until 28 weeks! But will have a couple of consultant appts/scans in the mean time so plenty to keep me busy.

My mat pay is 8 weeks full then smp then nothing but there's every chance I'll be made redundant before then so not banking on anything Sad. It's amazing how much everyone's varies!!

Sorry to those of you feeling rough, as previously said, it feels so unjust to suffer into the second trimester. I've realised that doing too much is what triggered mine the past couple of days - great excuse to relax a bit more (as much as you can with a toddler!)

calimommy · 17/03/2017 14:52

I'm in the states and I can't get my head around how women here do it. 4-6 weeks off, sometimes no pay, then back to the grindstone. It baffles me how the government thinks that this is acceptable. But then again I've spoken to moms who then also say that they don't want to have to 'fund other woman's maternity leave'. And you can't have it both ways...

calimommy · 17/03/2017 14:52

*womens

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 17/03/2017 15:43

cali I don't know how women in America manage. I can't imagine going back to work when baby is only 4 weeks old. How on earth do they manage? They must be shattered! And what about childcare? Over here if I was to go back to work before baby is 6 months I'd have reduced choices - and I'd hate to think of the cost!!!

londonfeather · 17/03/2017 18:49

Sorted my last day with work today - 4 August! Bring it on... gives me just over a month before bambino is born. My work want to pay my SMP in one lump sum as I'm a contractor - I think it might be quite nice to have it all up front.

Fluffywallow · 18/03/2017 05:31

Exciting you've sorted your last day at work London! I'm vaguely thinking I'll go last week of august (due 8th September and likely to have an elcs so will know the date in advance) but will see how I go. I brought my last day forward last time as was struggling towards the end.

Had a good day yesterday and managed to eat a 'normal' dinner which is an achievement, hoping maybe it's the beginning of my pre pregnancy food preferences returning (vegs, salad, healthier food!)

flymo79 · 18/03/2017 05:58

I wish I was still at work, things are so different as a sahm... Anyway I really shouldn't grumble. Dh is away for three nights next week which I hate and he'll also not be around for my next appointment which will hopefully be the one Where i find out the sex....!!!!

MrsY87 · 18/03/2017 06:34

I've sorted my last day at work too, basically using holiday to finish on 3rd august and then my mat leave will start beginning sept so will have 5 weeks off before I'm due but then again DD was 5 weeks early so maybe I won't, but at least I'll have hopefully finished work this time! My mat leave package is great, 20 weeks full pay, 19 weeks half pay but the catch is you have to go back for a full year to keep it and I'm not really sure I want to go back so will have to cross that bridge when it comes to it. They asked me how long I was thinking of having off expecting me to say 3-6months so we're surprised when I said probably 10-12months....by boss came back after 3 weeks after her 3rd apparently!!! Shock

I've woken up with an awful sore throats this morning, any tips on anything I can do to help it as I'm not sure there is anything you can take when pregnant?!

MrsY87 · 18/03/2017 06:36

Flymo my DH was away for a couple of nights recently and has been working late every night so I've hardly seen him, I hate it too! Good he'll be around for the appointment where you find out the sex though!

Fluffywallow · 18/03/2017 06:41

Mrs how about hot honey and lemon? Or I even find hot orange squash can help too. Hope you feel better soon.

Fly it's so hard when they're away isn't it. And must be even tougher for you being abroad as well. Is your next scan a gender scan? We have ours in under two weeks! Ek!

flymo79 · 18/03/2017 07:44

Fluffy I think so... I can't find a friend to come with me. Will be sad going it alone Sad but them's the breaks...
