My bump is slowly coming through - can still fit in my jeans and you wouldn't know unless you were looking for it and I was wearing something really tight but my body is deffo changing shape. 15 weeks tomorrow with #1.

Feeling so tired at the mo!

MrsY87 · 14/03/2017 18:54

Great to hear all the positive scan and mw appointment news! Smile

Glad I'm not the only one stuck in the have you eaten too much or are you pregnant stage, looking forward to getting a proper bump!

My mw appointment isn't til closer to 17 weeks so still another two weeks to go, I don't want to find out the gender but am really tempted to book a scan to break up this wait between 12 and 20 weeks just to check everything is ok. The wait after 20 weeks doesn't seem quite as bad as you can then start to feel movement!

sherbertlemon17 · 14/03/2017 19:31

Great news on the scans Coldfeet and Lules!

Ours also went well and we have a very chilled out little bambino. The scan took aaaages because of that though. Had to go away and come back, jump about a bit, but it did mean we got to see baby for longer and I have pretty much had a whole day off work! Lovely!

We were even there so long that they were able to give me the results of my blood tests there too!

Aw lovely scan news, glad it all went well everyone Smile

Travelgeek · 14/03/2017 20:05

Will definitely ask to hear it if she doesn't do it automatically. That was lovely of her star. I thought about a doppler but was warned off them by MIL who is a retired midwife and I absolutely trust her. I think its so I don't panic if I don't find it and that I count kicks later on when I can feel them to notice any reduced movement.

calimommy · 14/03/2017 20:22

olivers & flymo the struggle is real 😂 different bodies.... both of my previous pregnancies I was due around the same as Kate Middleton, people would make a comment about her tiny skinny figure and then look at me, and say nothing.
I can defo second the Doppler recommendation, I bought one this time and think it's the biz. Total reassurance especially now when there's no movement.

Kskifred · 14/03/2017 20:44

i had a doppler with ds and was way into the third trimester before i could ever pick it up! Wasn't really worth it in the end for me.

StarWish1 · 15/03/2017 08:18

This is a bit of a silly question, but what's everyone's thoughts on painting your nails during pregnancy? I heard that some people recommend you avoid it so I didn't paint my nails whilst trying to conceive or during the first trimester but really fancy it now. Is everyone else painting theirs?

EssentialHummus · 15/03/2017 08:58

I can't speak for nails star, but DH went into hysterics when I said I wanted to paint a chair. So no painting whatsoever in this house!

sherbertlemon17 · 15/03/2017 09:07

You're fine with painting your nails and painting a chair... just make sure the area is well ventilated. I painted DDs nursery at 23 weeks last time and was fine. Just kept all the windows and doors open.

I will probably opt for painting my own nails rather than going to a salon though just because they can be a bit fumey tbh. And plus, I need to save money for mat leave!

sherbertlemon17 · 15/03/2017 09:09

Oh, and also... I know it's been asked a million times, but who do I message about joking the Facebook group? Smile

oliversmummy26 · 15/03/2017 10:14

Travel could you get a doppler and ask your MIL to help you with it if you were concerned...that's if you really fancy getting one? I finally got the hang of mine last night and spent about 5 minutes just listening to baby's heart going at 142bpm Smile it was lovely and as others have said, very reassuring when there's very little movement at the moment. I'm definitely getting flutters but at this stage too few and far between and too easy to miss..

14+3

Fluffywallow · 15/03/2017 12:32

I painted a whole house at 34-36 weeks pregnant last time (obviously the interior not exterior) and whilst I'd not recommend it (bloody knackering!) all was fine. I asked my midwife before hand and it's all about ventilation. So I'm sure same applies for nails. Paint away!

Keep feeling tiny flutters which is lovely. Can't wait for the reassurance of regular kicks though. 14+5.

calimommy · 15/03/2017 14:10

Yeah I painted several rooms in the house both times I was pregnant. Currently painting the spare room bed frame. Just use appropriate paint and open a window. We aren't sick or broken, just pregnant.

EssentialHummus · 15/03/2017 14:20

I've let DH know that if he's not happy with me painting the chair he can bloody well pay the £150 (!) that the local upholsterer has quoted to do it. We're supposed to be moving house soon and I'd quite like to get stuck into painting.

LouLou030783 · 15/03/2017 14:25

Glad everyone's scans went well, mine is tomorrow be glad to have it over with as earlier in my pregnancy I was told I had a bleed next to the sac aswell as cervical ectropian, so every week that passes without bleeding is great.

Hope everyOne is feeling well

MrsY87 · 15/03/2017 14:38

Exciting that those of you on your second are starting to feel flutters, I keep wondering if I can too and then put it down to just being wind! Remember feeling the first proper kick bang on 20 weeks last time, can't wait to feel them properly this time!

I also painted DDs nursery last time and we are due to start a huge house renovation soon so I'm sure I'll be exposed to paint etc....My mat leave is going to involve a lot of house renovation project management...am I crazy to think it's doable with a newborn and a toddler?!? Hmm

14+5

LouLou030783 · 15/03/2017 14:59

Oh god that seems a lot however we were going to extend while I was heavily pregnant whilst having a baby but have now decided we shall sell and move so god knows when that shall happen knowing my luck we will find something the month before my dd

calimommy · 15/03/2017 15:24

I moved city with a 2yo and 9week old and then 5 months later (6 month old and 2.5yo) we changed our minds and moved to another country, 1000 miles away. And I didn't die. So ANYTHING is doable 😁

MrsY87 · 15/03/2017 16:14

Wow Cali that sounds like it was an adventure! I'm sure it will be doable, probably better being at home than trying to manage it whilst working anyway!

puttingourhoodupdown · 15/03/2017 18:03

As others have said, painting is fine I'm sure as long as good ventilation. We painted our house when I was pg last time and have been painting a Wendy house this time. I also refuse to give up my nails so both last time and this time I've continued (same with colouring my hair)

Travelgeek · 15/03/2017 18:19

We are almost at the end of our house renvoation so its mostly painting left to do. I'm determined to finish it all by the time baby arrives!

Is anyone thinking of doing anything 'big' but not house related during their mat leave? We have discussed the potential to have a month travelling. Probably europe though and probably about 6 months in.

oliversmummy, I stopped by PILs for a cup of tea on my way home from work today and said I was feeling the wait between apts. MIL said 'shall we have a listen then' and got her stethoscope out of the drawer. Found heartbeat straight away and I had a listen. She is fab.

I toy with the idea of having her at the birth as I think she would be a better advocate for me than DH who will be lovely but well out of his comfort zone. I don't want my mum to feel left out but she is 4 hours drive away and MIL 5 mins.

LouLou030783 · 15/03/2017 18:39

Travel that is an amazing idea I wish I could do something like that but with 3 other kids not possible but oh u should do something like that if you can

Travelgeek · 15/03/2017 19:21

We'll see whether we can nearer the time Lou, depending on funds and the co-operativeness of baby! But we'll give it a go! Have a dog that would have to come too so that's our added complication. Couldn't imagine trying to do it with 3 other kids though.

LouLou030783 · 15/03/2017 19:32

Would be a great way to spend some mat leave as it does get a bit monotonous
