@kskifred aahh thanks! I must admit I've had my heart set on a baby girl. I'll be happy either way - I do just want it to be born happy and healthy. But is it terrible that I have a preference?! Blush

Kskifred · 28/02/2017 20:54

No, it's not, I think everyone has a preference even if it's a teeny one over the other and don't want to admit it, although obviously as you say healthy and happy is #1

I might not be right so try not to get disheartened! If it's any help though, i was set on a girl before DS was born, we didn't find out what we were having but once he was born I wouldn't have swapped him for 100 girls.

I would love one of each but I also know how awesome boys are now so really you are onto a winner either way Wink

Gingerbreadmam · 28/02/2017 21:18

@argon18 you have posted your personal info on your scan. thought best let you know.

WhiteLily86 · 28/02/2017 21:21

Travel geek I was in London for another weekend just past and hit H&M for maternity wear (thought it would have a better selection than the shops in the highlands ha!).

I bought a few pairs, they were so comfy, I was bounding around the changing rooms showing DH my massive expanding waist bands haha!

argon18 · 28/02/2017 21:22

I think it's just because - with no logic whatsoever - I've always thought I'd have a girl. But if it's a boy, I'll love him just the same. I already do Smile

Aahh I saw I posted my info haha oops I don't think I can delete though! Xx

Gingerbreadmam · 28/02/2017 21:25

if you clikc on the 3 litttle dots u can report it and mn will remove. only if it bothers you of course Smile

argon18 · 28/02/2017 21:31

Aahh I probably should! Can you tell I'm new to this Grin

Could I ask what kind of weight gain everyone has had so far? This is my first and I'm really not sure how much I should or shouldn't be putting on. I have a very noticeable bump now (although I'm sure some of it is a few more carbs than I need!)

Fluffywallow · 01/03/2017 05:43

Morning! Up with the birds as bloomin usual Envy

Argon, welcome! I've put on about 4lbs at 13 weeks. I was about 10lb over weight to start with though so expect that's partly why - at this point with DD I was a stone up. I'm trying to be careful but it's been so hard with the sickness and food aversions, my choices are very limited.

argon18 · 01/03/2017 07:03

Morning fluffywallow ! I've put on 3 pounds but thats in the last 2 weeks - before then my weight had stayed the same! Aahh I'm sorry you've not been feeling too great with your sickness and food aversions Confused hopefully that might pass in the next few weeks? I must admit I've not really had any symptoms so it was nice to see a baby at the scan to confirm I was actually pregnant and not a complete fruit loop who just thought she was! Xx

puttingourhoodupdown · 01/03/2017 07:09

Lovely to see all the scans coming through....mine is tomorrow morning but I think I'll only be 10+5 so I suspect I'll get another scan...that's was happened with DD ( I think I must ovulate late or something!) Excited and anxious to see the bean!!

Heyitsholly · 01/03/2017 09:05

Ive still not got my scan letter and im 10+4
Think i will have to be a pita and call later
Got my pregnancy risk assessment later at work. It should be interesting.

oliversmummy26 · 01/03/2017 09:47

Travel I lived in my h&m maternity jeans last pregnancy, they were unbelievably comfy and I wished I could wear them forever! Got two pairs this time and some under bump jeggings from new look which are great as they don't pronounce my massive bump as much as over bump jeans seem to do so good for work.

Sorry, can't remember who was asking about telling work early, but I told my line manager because I needed time off for scans and appointments etc. and he's been great. But not told anyone else yet, as still really wary..

Ginger good luck for your scan today!

Argon I had a preference for a girl when I was pregnant with DS and must admit I was a little disappointed when we found out he was a boy. But it only lasted a day or so and then I was all excited about buying his outfits and couldn't wait to meet him. Boys are great fun, I was worried because I have 3 sisters and didn't really know anything about boys, but when it's your boy you know exactly what they need. We're so close and I wouldn't have him any other way. ...having said that, still finding myself having a preference for a girl this time round, I tell myself it's because it would be nice to have one of each and I think then I would be "done"...

I have stopped weighing myself since BFP, I was heaviest I think I've ever been then and so don't want to know now!

sherbertlemon17 · 01/03/2017 11:31

Welcome Argon! I also a had a preference for a girl with DD, just because I always saw myself having a girl. Lots of girls on both sides of our families so I guess that's why. This time it would be nice to have another girl because I never had a sister and would love DD to have a sister where they are going to be so close in age. But for me and DH we would probably like a boy this time. Win win either way Grin

For me my weight is always a bit weird in pregnancy and I seem to lose weight. Confused Not been sick many times this time, but pregnancy sends my metabolism crazy! I put on three pounds in the first 8 weeks and now I'm back to where I started!

Travelgeek · 01/03/2017 12:54

Ooh, white lily and oliversmummy, I'm excited for my order to arrive now!

Welcome argon and good luck for your scan ginger!

I know what you mean about weight oliversmummy, I thought I would have a few months of ttc in which to lose some weight. So now I am just paying attention to the difference between my weight at BFP and now, instead of the rather high total figure.

Initally I lost 2lbs all from the nausea and not wanting anything except beige. I'm now just a pound above my start weight, but I've gained those 3lbs in the last 2 weeks!

puttingourhoodupdown · 01/03/2017 13:53

I'm currently waiting on an asos delivery of maternity wear. When I was pregnant with DD I was working and mainly wore loose dresses with tights or leggings so I only bought about 3 items of maternity wear. Now I no longer work I live in jeans and t shirt/ patterned leggings and long line tops so I deffo need some clothes to grow into!

We didn't find out the sex with DD, DH was adamant it had to be a boy because he'd be clueless with a girl, I think I was pretty much persuaded by him that it would be a boy but we were both thrilled with DD and wouldn't have it any other way. This time we will have a private gender scan, I think I have a slight preference for another girl but will be thrilled either way...... Our families are made up of girls though so I'm pretty sure grandparents etc are hoping for a boy!

Pinkbottletop · 01/03/2017 14:16

I am DESPERATE for maternity wear. Going to go and buy some tomorrow because dressing for work and being comfortable while commuting is becoming a nightmare.

I have a slight preference for a girl because OH already has a boy and I think it would be nice for him to experience something completely different with me. He's already in the comparing space. Not in a negative way, but he'll inconsiderately say 'we spent blah blah on a buggy' and I always have to remind him to say I rather than we because I honestly do not want to be told about everything he and his ex did for their child.

He surprised me yesterday with a huge bag of Mothercare stuff. Maybe as a way of making up for his previous lack of interest. I'm not quite 12 weeks yet, so a bit premature, but I had an early scan a few days ago and feel quite positive about everything. He bought me a pregnancy pillow, a scan picture frame, a birth certificate tube and a bottle and steriliser starter kit. I was so touched I cried.

EssentialHummus · 01/03/2017 14:25

I just told my 92 year old gran - she's super excited and is off to tell all her neighbours Grin.

I'd like a boy, but both the nub theory folk and my sonographer (when I asked for a guess) reckoned it's a girl, so I'm now in full-on search mode for girls' clothes not in pink.

Fluffywallow · 01/03/2017 14:44

Such interesting discussions about boy girl preferences/or not - I always wanted a girl and gave my DD so now I'm sort of hoping for a boy for my dh but also a part of me wants a DD for my DD! Tricky. Either way we'll be thrilled.

Maternity clothes wise I've realised I have some decent things from my last pregnancy but I've splashed out today on some Seraphine jeans, they are expensive but omg are they comfy and they look really smart (I need smart jeans for work!) I expect I'll end up pretty much living in them though so worth spending a little more. I now just need to focus on getting a few staples and I'll be sorted. I felt like a fat frump last time and really don't want that this time so going to make a bit more effort!

Fluffywallow · 01/03/2017 14:46

And pink that's so thoughtful of your dh getting you those gifts - just proves they can do it!

Pinkbottletop · 01/03/2017 15:08

Thanks fluffy. What's Seraphine?

Fluffywallow · 01/03/2017 16:31

It's an online maternity shop pink (although I have a feeling they might have one or two real shops too) - I got a dress for a wedding from them last pregnancy and it was super comfy so thought I'd treat myself a bit to their stuff again this time. It's pricey though so trying to chose what I get from there wisely - the rest can come from Asos! Grin

Travelgeek · 01/03/2017 17:41

...goes off to google Seraphine...

Aw, how lovely pink, that's thoughtful of him

On the boy/girl front, I would obviously be happy with either! But my mum and brother and his girlfriend all think it will be a girl. Nothing to go off to make that guess but they are convinced. My mum especially, but I think that's because she has 2 grandchildren and 4 'step' grandchilden already who are all boys! I just don't want a houseful of pink stuff if it is! I have more favourite girls names and am struggling to find boys names I like so that would be easier.

Lules · 01/03/2017 17:50

Seraphine have a shop in south ken I think for any Londoners. They do nice evening dresses if you have any posh events to go to.

I want to wear maternity clothes. I am not comfy. But I'm only 10 weeks and I haven't had a scan yet so it feels odd. I know that's weird though.

Chottie · 01/03/2017 18:27

Seraphine have a shop in Marylebone High Street and a concession in Peter Jones :)

argon18 · 01/03/2017 19:30

I'm sure when they tell me if it is or isn't a girl, I won't actually mind. But does create the issue of what to call it! We have no ideas for boys names!

My weight gain has all been in the last 2 weeks too. I put on 3 pounds in the week i found out I was pregnant which freaked me out but that was Xmas week so put it down to that and then I lost it again. So was consistent until two weeks ago although I started to get a bump but now I have a noticeable bump and I'm heavier. I'm short and small so it's fairly obvious.

pink that's so nice of your other half. They don't always get it right but when they do Smile

And essentialhummus aahh your 92 year old nan is going to be a great nan! I bet it was lovely telling her! Xx
