Had my bloods taken by a nurse yesterday at the surgery, she said I was the 4th person she'd seen that day as the midwife couldn't take bloods. Surely then the midwife shouldn't be taking our bloods!? Feeling more and more like my MW is a bit pants..

Mine was the same - mw had a go, basically. I'm not the greatest fan of needles, so going through it twice for this and twice more for thyroid stuff didn't fill me with joy. The nurse today was brilliant, though.

12-week scan on Monday morning. 12 weeks exactly today. Still feeling a bit nauseous.

SpringSpringSpring · 23/02/2017 13:36

I had my 12 week scan today too and also due 6 September. Everything looked good which is fantastic, but waiting until the screening results come through before telling anyone.

sugarplumfairy2010 · 23/02/2017 13:51

Congratulations spring. Im wanting to keep it quiet aslong as possible as decided to not tell kids until after the 20 week scan. Have got a family party in 2 weeks and hope they wont guess. If the screening results come back ok before then i will tell them if they ask though.x

Pinkbottletop · 23/02/2017 13:56

Olivers I absolutely can't wait to feel that. I'm so excited. As it's my first, I'm just longing for it! Moments with my OH where we're feeling the baby kick.

Carolina when I get home from work, I'll see what make mine is. I think the success of it depends on a) the jelly you get with it and b) good earphones or a long aux lead to speakers. I used an aux lead and therefore I got to hear it loud and proud.

Second/third/fourth everyone feeling tired! I'm anaemic apparently (part of being a thalessemia carrier) and it's making me more tired than usual. Joy. Couldn't face work yesterday so I worked from home and then fell asleep for an hour in the middle of sending an email! Made up for it by staying logged in for longer.

Frillyhorseyknickers · 23/02/2017 14:05

How long does it take for screening results to come through, usually?

MoominMama22 · 23/02/2017 14:20

I'm so confused about screening results! I don't remember that part, I though it was at 20weeks and that was the thorough anomaly scan as well to check for serious health issues? It's not even that long ago that I've done this before and I already feel useless. I'm not going to remember what to do with a newborn that's for sure!

sugarplumfairy2010 · 23/02/2017 14:29

The screening results for edward/patau and downs syndrome you have at 12 weeks and they said if results are high they will ring me in a week and if not will have a letter through post in 2-3 weeks time. The edwards and patau are new test brought out last year i think.

MoominMama22 · 23/02/2017 14:33

Thanks @sugarplum, and congratulations on your lovely scan. I do vaguely remember now getting a letter a while after with the 'one in however many' chance, it was just Downs I haven't even heard of the other two syndromes.

sugarplumfairy2010 · 23/02/2017 15:06

The other two syndromes arent compatibile with life so i want the results of those before i can relax. I chose not to have the test for downs.x

calimommy · 23/02/2017 15:43

sugarplum I was the same! My DS1 is the 23july and DS2 was due the 24th July! But he ended up coming early on the 9th july, but he was 7.5 lbs so he was ready and I was ready to be done with pregnancy!! But we still do joint birthdays on the middle weekend for both boys. I was actually planing for another July baby but with three years between instead of 2 but then got pregnant by accident. If this baby is early it will be august, even though I'm hoping to go to the end (to put as much time between them) but I'm not sure how I'll feel in the middle of the Californian summer at 9 months...😬

calimommy · 23/02/2017 15:44

Ha I just reread that: I say it like I have control over it! Haha

sugarplumfairy2010 · 23/02/2017 15:52

My son actually came on his due date but my daughter was 8 days early i was ready for her then but if this one comes early aswell they could end up being the youngest in the year at school instead of the oldest. Im in the uk so its not really that hot in summer.x

oliversmummy26 · 23/02/2017 15:52

Hummus Glad I'm not the only one! I did say to MW my veins are pretty small and nurses have used child's needles before. She tried both arms and couldn't get anything but my right arm bled for ages! She said be prepared for nurse to have to take it from your hands.

Got in and saw the nurse who basically said she didn't know what the MW problem was, tried first time and got it all! My arm was aching all night last night though!

Amz26 · 23/02/2017 17:09

Hi ladies hope everyone is doing well! I had my scan today and baby was like a little gymnast! Going rolling around and wouldn't stop moving.. I started to cry and all my worries from the last week went away... I'm so happy I can't believe it...
I asked the doctor to have an educated guess of what he thought the gender wAs.. He said girl pretty quick and then he/she moved and he said "oh it could be a boy" haha so that didn't help much lol!! I think it's a girl tho as it was his frost reaction when I asked him... I don't really mind anyway just want a healthy baby 👶🏼

12w scan today - nuchal measurement perfect (phew - was a bit worried at my age) and so cool to see the baby! For it is indeed a baby now, stretching and swallowing and kicking and rubbing its face. DH reckons it looks like a boy (completely unscientifically). That would be cool! But another girl is lovely too Grin We're not finding out anyway, til the big day.

So just waiting to get clear blood results back (5 vials! Fortunately the nurse was quick and friendly and I seem to have very co-operative veins) and then we're gonna let the cat out of the bag. Should be another week tops. I seriously cannot wait, I'm so sick of hiding it.

Have loads of scan pics but they're on a USB and I'm on my phone so I'll post later Grin

newbie87 · 23/02/2017 18:19

Ahhh look at all these lovely scan pics!! Roll on my 12 wk scan on tuesday! This will be my first ever scan, ive seen some people mention baby was moving lots and i read that a sugary drink can do that? My question is does the baby need to move lots or will that not help getting the measurement etc...? Also is the clarity of the picture dependant on the amount of water u drink? xx

MrsK8541 · 23/02/2017 18:25

Congratulations to those who have had positive scans! I'm itching for mine next Thursday Grin

calimommy · 23/02/2017 18:26

amz so happy for you xxx

We just found out we are having a boy, it's my first time knowing, it feels a bit strange actually and at first I was a bit shocked (I've two boys already) but now I am actually thrilled! And I think this is the first time I've been so excited this pregnancy. What a lovely outcome. I wasn't sure about finding out. ☺️ delighted we did xxx

Fluffywallow · 23/02/2017 18:38

Oh those last few messages have made me well up. What gorgeous photos amz, and great news it went well N0ne! And Cali how exciting for you knowing the gender already Smile. Bet your boys will be thrilled with a baby brother!

I'm so in bits about my scan tomorrow.

Pinkbottletop · 23/02/2017 22:26

Congrats all! I still have positively agessss until mine.

Cali how did you find out so soon?

calimommy · 24/02/2017 05:06

pink I'm in the states and I had a Panorama test, which does all the usual genetic stuff but also tests for the presence of the y-chromosome, if it's there it's a boy, if it's not then it's a girl! (Unless you have non-identical multiples and then you have to wait for a scan).

WhatwouldRuthdo · 24/02/2017 06:36

So lovely to hear all the scan news! I've told work and my siblings now so it's starting to feel real. On the negative, I have a really achy pelvis which I know is just everything stretching, but it hurts! Not helped by having to walk over an hour home last night, cheers Doris.
Good luck with the scan today fluffy

flymo79 · 24/02/2017 06:45

Wow! Great news on scans, and on gender Cali! I was really moved by your earlier post about hating the first trimester, it's so cruel to suffer a loss I am overwhelmed by the strength people have to keep trying!
Expat, welcome! Are you up for revealing where you are expat-ing? I am away from home too, excited to have you onboard!

sherbertlemon17 · 24/02/2017 07:42

Congratulations on all the amazing scans everyone! And congratulations Cali on your little boy Grin

Still ages for me to wait until my scan. 9+6 today. Had been feeling a bit better the past couple of days and then a migraine and first incident of being sick rather than just nauseous bought me crashing back down yesterday Sad

kep1979 · 24/02/2017 07:52

Lovely scan pics, and congratulations on your boy Cali! How long did your results take? I am struggling to hide my bump now and having Harmony tomorrow so hoping the results come quickly! Last time (when they had to go to the states for analysis) they can back in a week, so now the lab is in the uk I'm hoping they are even quicker. First got to get through the scan - I am so nervous. My logical brain says that we saw blob and a heartbeat at six weeks and I've been so sick since and everything will be fine, but I'm still petrified!
