Hello,
Got a voicemail whilst I was in school from the hospital to tell me my risks for Downs/Edwards are low 1/9000 and 1/20000 but that one of my results about my hormones has popped up.
Apparently I could have a smaller baby or develop high blood pressure in late pregnancy so I have to go to the hospital on Friday & I'll need to start taking aspirin.
Just wondered if anyone else has been told this, the dr said there's nothing to worry about but obviously I'm worried x

DontBeBlueBeARainbow · 20/02/2017 18:38

dixie is that preeclampsia they are think you might be at risk of? I didn't know it was linked to hormones, but it's definitely a good thing if they can monitor you more closely from early on because it's when it comes on suddenly that it can be dangerous.

Travelgeek · 20/02/2017 18:43

Congrats on the good scan ruth and welcome moomin.

That all sounds awful olivers, glad you're still feeling positive about it. Not long till our next scans now.

MoominMama22 · 20/02/2017 18:55

Thanks for the welcome!
dixie to put your mind at ease I think it really is quite usual for them to recommend low dose aspirin after 12 weeks. It might be because of pre eclampsia risk? I had pre eclampsia with DD so I will find out at booking appt if they want me to take it.
Oliver that does sound so scary but glad you got to look in on little bean and see all OK. Hope no more scares!

I feel like I'm a bit behind you all, at 8+3, MW booking appt not for a couple of weeks and 12w scan not til 22 March!Shock

Heyitsholly · 20/02/2017 19:03

Welcome moomin.
Dont worry theres a whole liads of us. I only had my booking in today in 9+2. Havent revieved my scan date.

charlij91 · 20/02/2017 19:21

Hi ladies! Had my scan this morning, peanut is healthy and happy but a little awkward- dedided to flip over and stay face down no matter how much coughing, walking and wiggling I did! 😂🙊 need further bloods at my next midwife appt due to not being able to do screening tests but other than that, honestly a weight has been lifted!! X

Great news Charli especially knowing how worried you were about it.

Mine is tomorrow and I am so so nervous. Just keep worrying I will turn up and there will be no heartbeat 😞

Kskifred · 20/02/2017 19:53

lovely scan!

Mine is also the 27th Grin

charlij91 · 20/02/2017 20:10

Whitelily86 I was pacing up and down the room until we went in. Especially when she told me baby was being difficult I automatically presumed the worst- even now it still feels surreal. But honestly you will be fine.. I'm have no doubt your little one will be happy and healthy! 😊

MrsK8541 · 20/02/2017 20:12

Lovely scan charli!

Pinkbottletop · 20/02/2017 20:28

Guys I'm a bit worried - I got my blood results back and it says I'm alpha+ thal carrier. Everything I've read is bad. What does this mean?!

sherbertlemon17 · 20/02/2017 20:51

Ah Charli & Ruth, really glad your scans went well Smile

And welcome Moomin

Pink is that something to do with Thalassemia? My husband's family are originally from a part of the world where it is really common and as a result either of my inlaws (we don't know which one Confused) is a carrier which means my DH has a 50% chance of also being a carrier. If he is, any children we have have a 50% chance of being a carrier..... If I'm right, which I'm probably not, I think if you are only a carrier, and your partner isn't, it's very unlikely that your baby will be passed the gene. Does that kind of make sense?! Lol!

Pinkbottletop · 20/02/2017 21:07

Thanks sherbert it said on the form that my partner wouldn't need to be tested so I'm really unsure of what is going on. On my mother's side, we have a lot of family from Persia, so I wonder if that's where it's from.

MoominMama22 · 20/02/2017 21:36

HeyitsHolly I Pm'd you to be added to the fb group Smile

pink maybe they werent going to test your partner because of a low risk, but since you are carrier they maybe now will? I haven't looked it up and don't know what the gene means but you'd think they'd want to be sure to rule it out now that you're a carrier?

roobois · 21/02/2017 00:12

Holly I just messaged you my details please could you add me to the Facebook group?
Thanks Smile

Hi all just joining 😊 I'm due around 23rd September with baby no.4. Not sure if I'll ever find this thread again I'm useless at things like this but I'll try ha ha

Mummafof3girls · 21/02/2017 05:22

Oh I have just seen there is a fb group how can I join that I know my way around fb 😂

calimommy · 21/02/2017 05:32

mumma if you email me [email protected] I can add you. There are two other girls who can also add you if I'm too slow 👍

sherbertlemon17 · 21/02/2017 07:45

Pink I think you're probably right about the Persian thing. My DHs family are Arabic which is where it comes from on our side.

They probably won't test him if he is white British maybe? I guess it is a low risk ethnic group? -Sorry, assuming ethnicity Blush

MrsK8541 · 21/02/2017 08:34

Anyone found their sickness and nausea getting worse at 10 weeks? Thought I was on my way up last week and this week has knocked me back!

EssentialHummus · 21/02/2017 09:11

Anyone found their sickness and nausea getting worse at 10 weeks?

Yes! I had the same - feeling better, eating better, then straight back to sickness and nausea at 10 weeks.

11+5 here.

oliversmummy26 · 21/02/2017 09:21

hummus & mrsK I'm the same, though at 11 weeks, nausea came back on Sunday and is still hanging around.

Anyone else suffering from headaches? I had a dreadful migraine last night which I think also contributed to me feeling sick and was in bed by 8.30pm. Still lingering now, but I'm hoping that a couple of paracetamol will shift it...just don't want to keep taking them if I can help it..

lilyborderterrier · 21/02/2017 09:34

Yes my head has felt like it's going to explode since Friday, but I'm thinking it's actually a sinus infection. I'm feeling rotten, nervous about my scan on Thursday and then really scared about my driving test on Friday. I just want to crawl into bed and stay there till I fell better. Feeling fed up Sad

WarwickAlice · 21/02/2017 09:50

Rooibos that is so me right now!! ^^ I can't get enough beige stuff into my face quickly enough!

I have my 12 week scan tomorrow morning and I'm really nervous. Not been feeling that sick or tired or anything for a few weeks now. My mw told me that 2 people a week at the maternity hospital round here find out at their scan that their baby stopped growing at 9 weeks...problem is she didn't tell me out of how many, so instead it's just been playing on my mind. Two a week sounds like quite a lot, but I don't know whether it's 2 out of 5,000, or 2 out of 20. Argh!!

Also...unrelated point...does anyone else have REALLY itchy boobs? It's driving me up the wall and no amount of bio oil or moisturiser is helping.

Alice x

WarwickAlice · 21/02/2017 09:51

I'm 12+2 now
