Gosh - such a lot to catch up on! Flowers for those who have been having a hard time with symptoms or having to go into hospital.

I have developed stabbing pains into one nipple Hmm seemingly can be set off even by light touch from bedding. Same nipple also has a few yellow bumps like spots - google suggests these might be milk blisters? I haven't been given any information about breast feeding etc so not entirely sure what is going on...

KLane · 24/02/2017 14:59

Within 3 days I had two midwifes give me two totally different measurements. One measured 28 weeks (spot on) and the other measured 30 weeks. Apparently baby's position at that exact moment and the midwifes placement of the tape measure more than anything make the difference. The tape measure seems like such an antiquated method!

teainbed · 24/02/2017 15:08

Ignore the tummy measurements if the scan was ok that's the most important thing. They're not that accurate!!

Glad someone else found Jojo stuff absolutely massive, I bought a skirt and pyjamas that are medium but they are just huge.

uptown8617 · 24/02/2017 15:20

Adventure where I am they're only concerned if you're lower than the 10th centile line on the first measurement, so wouldn't have been concerned with your reading.

I saw the consultant yesterday about my measurement which was well below and she's referred me for a growth scan but it's not until next week (could have been done yesterday but after waiting for over an hour the sonographer had clocked off!). However, she said she wasn't particularly worried and it was probably just the position of the baby. It's definitely transverse at the moment which I think is throwing the measurement off.

PowerofThree · 24/02/2017 15:20

I sent everything I bought from JoJo back as, despite following their size guide, everything hung off me. And don't get me started on how long their jeans are!

EsmesBees · 24/02/2017 16:00

My DD is still in 12-18m clothes from JoJo despite being 2. I don't know why they cut so generously.

savagehk · 24/02/2017 16:15

My 4yo is still in some 18-24 stuff (not JoJo).

MrsJW15 · 24/02/2017 17:36

The JoJo stuff I've bought is also huge. So frustrating!

Sal1977 · 24/02/2017 17:51

I'm also self-employed Badger. Call the maternity benefit department (number on the Gov website) and they'll tell you to send your form in when you finish work. Make sure your class2 NICs are up to date though as my weren't and I had to pay it before they'd pay SMA. It was only £90 but took nearly a month for the info to filter through to the right departments! A right pain in the arse!!

My back is bloody killing me this time. My little boy weighs 2stone and I'm really struggling to carry him at the moment! The great lump! I really need him to be walking by the time this one arrives as I'll never be able to carry the two of them after a section!!! Shock

Is there a Facebook group on the go for this group by the way? And who would I need to chat up to get an invite? GrinGrin

TFI Friday!!😁

Teaspoon74 · 24/02/2017 18:08

Yellow - how was your NCT class? Start mine end of March and no idea what to expect Confused

Bean - ready hope today was a bit better than yesterday!

Rustler - still undecided re baby show (so much to do here and losing another weekend to family birthdays this we end so OH reluctant) but defo up for a meet up of logistics work! Am in SE London, but work be Kings X and travel through Stratford (starters for ten ).

Good for you Sah!

Safe trip Badger. And nice outfit!nursery furniture arrived today so may start to buy a bit more now that I finally have somewhere to put it! Will post pics once have stopped playing furniture jenga!!

Rise - with you on pink and blue. Have laid down law with family that we don't want lots of pink. A bit is fine, but keen to avoid everything!! And I see your biscuits and raise you two packets of beefy monster munch and a galaxy (the baby wanted them)!!

Have lovely weekends, ladies. Fewer than 10wks and counting for me... 2017 is when it all changes! Flowers

growcookeat · 24/02/2017 18:12

Dream I agree with the others about jojo support band - stick to a small. I considered sizing up but the medium fits perfectly (size 14 round the hips).

Esmes i have the same issue with them taking bloods! My veins are tiny apparently. They couldn't get any at all at the GP/midwife, I had to have a butterfly needle at the hospital instead.

Badger enjoy your trip!

We're doing the last nursery bits this weekend - sanding the rocking chair and putting up shelves.

Hope everyone has fun weekend plans?!

RasperryInAMelon · 24/02/2017 18:28

Ladies who are GPs I have a question.

Where I work, I have a lady who has shingles. She's not got a fever, but a rash. Dr has signed her off for a week but apparently said she can come in if she doesn't have a fever.

I have in addition to myself, 2 ladies expecting and 5 expectant fathers amongst 190 employees.

Should she be in??

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend, not too much planned here other than pregnancy massage tomorrow 🎉
Think I'm going to buy a second cotbed on eBay tonight, i just can't face a transition to bed before the baby arrives when he sleeps so well in the cot and I don't want him to feel like the baby is stealing his bed at any point so this way there is no pressure, he can have the side off when he's ready and we'll get him a proper bed when he goes to school.
Gearing up to get the baby stuff out the loft, I imagine there will be a lot of stuff that I'm like 'why did I keep this poo stained Tesco vest 😂'

McBaby · 24/02/2017 19:12

Raspberry I'm not a gp but shingles is only contagious if you touch the rash. It's usually on the body so highly unlikely you will come in contact with the rash. You can also only catch chicken pox from it if you have never had them which most adults have had.

beanandturnip · 24/02/2017 19:13

Thank you all, today has been better. I took 3 year old girl to the swimming pool at the gym, was amazing to get the weight off my joints 👍🏼

However, my community midwife isn't picking up my calls. I don't have the numbers for the local maternity team as I am under a different hospital trust for my consultant and scans etc.

I have rung my gp and they have said they can't do anything. I have to get it from midwife.

I have anti d apt at hospital next Friday, so will ask the midwives there for a Mat b1. I don't remember it being this hard work last time. Yesterday was my 28wk apt no bloods taken, no heart beat check. Feel robbed of statistics 😂

Got an offsite objective setting day on Monday. But before then we are house hunting ... as we are currently in negotiations with 2 potential buyers for our house! Finally.

ClaireSunflower · 24/02/2017 19:26

Hi all, has anyone had the whooping cough vaccination? I'm due to get it on the same day as my 28 week midwife appointment but a bit apprehensive as I was really ill last time I had jabs for my honeymoon! Was everyone else ok?

lucieloos · 24/02/2017 19:28

Claire, I had the whooping cough injection at 21 weeks and didn't notice it at all so hopefully you will be fine.

ginandcake · 24/02/2017 19:40

Raspberry it depends where the rash is. If it can be covered it's no problem. And anyway it's only a problem if you've not had chicken pox before.

Peas glad I'm not the only one who seems to have kept poo stained vests!

RasperryInAMelon · 24/02/2017 19:44

Gin it's on the persons side so covered by their top on a day to day basis.

I don't know if the other employees have or haven't had it and can't ask 200 odd people if they have.

OP posts:
savagehk · 24/02/2017 19:54

bean which midwives are you under? Claire i had mine this week, slightly sore arm but otherwise fine. Last pregnancy I Had them in the morning and was quite tired in the afternoon, this time i had them in the afternoon and probably had the tiredness overnight.

ginandcake · 24/02/2017 19:59

Yeah asking 200 people is a little difficult! But if it's on their side and they keep it covered then you'll be fine.

peasandquiet · 24/02/2017 20:06

Claire. I had whooping cough weeks ago with no reaction at all, in my first pregnancy I was really grotty after it and has a sore arm for days so there's no telling how you would react. Pretty sure 28wks is the deadline for it tho so not sure you can put it off.

EsmesBees · 24/02/2017 20:06

Sounds sensible about the cot bed peas. I still can't decide whether to move DD out of her cot bed or take the sides off, so suspect I won't actually make a decision until the little one needs to move out the crib.

peasandquiet · 24/02/2017 20:18

I got it! Bargain too so I'm pleased. I'm a bit more anxious about these things this time than last which isn't really my style usually! I really don't need to have to cot just yet but good to have the option, there is a single bed in the nursery so we can do a mix of our room in the Snuz and babies room in the cot if needed to let me or hband get some sleep!

beanandturnip · 24/02/2017 20:25

savage I am Calderdale midwives (Todmorden team) and burnley hospital (east lancs trust)

I have attached pictures of my notes, the first page being the 28wk apt and the second being what mw filled in 😫
