DH gets 2 weeks full pay here too. He's got a fair amount of a/l which he's hoping to use to shorten some weeks to 4 days and give us a few extended weekends as well as a week hols in the summer/autumn. I keep asking him about spl and he keeps saying he's ok for me to take all the leave but I do wonder if he'll change his mind once baby is here! It's not the done thing at his work for dad's to take much time (old school insurance company) so he would be unusual.

Happy that week 1 of 6 is almost over. I'm sooo counting down now!

uptown8617 · 23/02/2017 19:10

Thanks Yellow. I saw the consultant today after waiting over an hour, she looked at my notes from yesterday for two minutes and referred me for the growth scan. It was too late to do it today so I've got to wait until next Friday.

She wasn't particularly concerned and thought it might just be because the baby's lying transverse. I'm sure it will be fine and I'm looking forward to getting to see it again!

1004Rise · 23/02/2017 20:46

Went for a swim this evening, was amazing, I felt like a normal human being for a whole 45 minutes! The only bad thing was getting out and feeling the weight of my bump again Hmm Definitely need to do more swimming!!

Don't know what DH will get in terms of paternity leave but as he's starting his new job he has several weeks of training so he won't be able to take it when baby is born Sad Thankfully we'll be near my DPs (possibly in their house if we don't find a new one in time) so I won't be on my own Smile

beanandturnip · 23/02/2017 20:50

Had my 28 week apt today, felt rushed. No bloods taken, baby's heartbeat not listened to either. We haven't seen midwife since I was 16weeks as not first baby.

I am not concerned that there is anything wrong with spud but I feel as though just because he is our 3rd the midwives don't seem bothered! Ahh!

Had a stressful day at work too .. on a phased return following my pneumonia and am only working 9.30-1pm for the next 2 weeks, yet I have work and emails coming out of my ears. I am such a workaholic that I am struggling with my conflicts of interest, my heart would work until I couldn't work any longer yet my head tells me j need to listen to occy health and only do short days. Just wish my boss supported a little better.

Anti D next week! Not looking forward to that! 😩

Sorry for the rant, feeling sorry for myself today.

beanandturnip · 23/02/2017 20:52

Oh and midwife had no Mat B1 forms so I have to wait until our next appointment ... I will be 32 wks then! My HR department are hounding me for the form daily.

Has everyone else received their mat b1?

Rustler74 · 23/02/2017 21:30

Oh Bean, I'm sorry to hear that. You must listen to Occu health and follow their recommendations. Also best tell your manager that the recommendations are important for your and your baby's health as well as your work environment. Neither is going to benefit from not respecting them.

The MATB1 form can be sorted via Gp as well, don't wait for the next appointment,as your maternity pay may not get sorted in time. I hope you feel better soon xxx

Does anyone else have problems with a crease under the bump? I need to wear significantly supportive clothing or the bump hangs over and then my SPD hurts as well. I'm gonna pop out to JoJo tomorrow and get a supportive maternity band. Or 2.
I've felt rather rough some parts of today and fine other parts. Luckily I didn't have to be anywhere else than at home. I hope tomorrow will be better as meeting with 2 ex colleagues. Will try to tie a swim in afterwards just to feel human again, just like Bean.

Anyone up for trying to meet again? We could meet somewhere easier to travel to in a car for some north of London but still doable with train for those in or on other side of London?

Rustler74 · 23/02/2017 21:47

I mean Rise re swim... very hard to keep track of who said what... with a baby brain!

Sah1987 · 23/02/2017 23:34

Hey all thanks for that I needed it. Basically I work in retail and my job title is department manager I currently work as a department manager within showrooms which is VERY customer focused, and seen as a senior role however isn't written down as such.
So when I go back they have to give me A department manager role in my town however not as the specific department I'm currently working.

I'm just gona see how it goes. As I said I can't deal with the sarcasm so today he started & I said well if that's how you feel I'd best go sit down & put my feet up, and waddled off, and he returned 3 hours later & apologised - so all good now!!!

I feel more optimistic today xxx

EsmesBees · 24/02/2017 07:12

Good for you sah!

Sorry to hear about the rushed appointment bean. They shouldn't take it any less seriously just because it's number three. Yes, I got my Mat1B at 25 wks. My HR wanted it about that time.

RasperryInAMelon · 24/02/2017 08:08

Yellow how was your NCT class? Ours start March 29th, looking forward to it!

You're telling me grow! I've got today and then 4 weeks to go!

I've planned to go swimming while I'm off Rise! Can't wait to feel 'normal'! I know DP is starting a new job, but his employers can't stop him from taking his pay leave when LO arrives if that's what he wants to do.

Bean sorry you had a tough day, hopefully today will be better! Already had MatB1 - can she not send one to you in the post or get one from your GP?

Rustler one last meet up in London before people start Mat Leave sounds doable! How are people fixed for March?

Happy Friday everyone!

Barnes79 · 24/02/2017 08:40

Bean - ask her to leave your MAtB1 at reception for you to collect. That's what mine did when she'd forgotten to sign the first one she gave me. Saved me waiting a whole week as work were chasing me too.

MrsJW15 · 24/02/2017 10:21

I'd be up for a London meet.

I'm also planning to swim this weekend Rise. Didn't make it last weekend as I had a cold. Not sure I can manage 45 minutes though!

Went to the Mothercare event last night. I thought it was ok, not amazing. We actually got entirely conflicting advice about carseats which was particularly unhelpful! Two people told us different things. Picked up a few bits, and then hoping to buy some bigger things with the 10% off voucher in the next couple of weeks.

Adventuregame · 24/02/2017 10:47

My turn to worry. Had 28 week midwife appointment today (I'm 28+5) and measuring 27cm which has taken me on to the lower line of the growth chart. I had scan last week (as I'm consultant led) and all fine so midwife said she's not worried. She also said the same as someone on here that before the charts 2cm under or over was considered normal. I however came out and cried as worried he's not growing enough ?

savagehk · 24/02/2017 10:50

adventure was it you who said you were tall-ish? As mentioned, it's fine (2cm either way) and I think the main reason they measure you is to make sure you don't suddenly stop growing or start growing far too much. It's only your first measurement, no? I'm going to be consistently above my top line again, I can just see it, and I'm pretty sure they've moved me a week earlier than my actual due date so I'll be measuring quite a lot over if you take that into account! but it's nothing to worry about. If they are concerned they'll send you for a scan.

MissMooMoo · 24/02/2017 11:00

Bean I got my MatB1 from my GP, apparently you are supposed to give it into work by 25 weeks.

Feeling really achy today, first time I have really felt pregnant! Thankful its my day off work and I can just relax at home.
Went and had my 28 week bloods done earlier.

I have been swimming throughout my pregnancy and agree it feels great! I always have to stand on the stairs for a few seconds after I get out to balance myself as bump is suddenly heavy again.

Adventuregame · 24/02/2017 11:13

We're both short so makes sense that baby will be small just don't like the wait now til next scan which is in 3 weeks.

FoxMulder · 24/02/2017 11:29

Adventure I'm measuring 27cm at 28 weeks too. Midwives totally happy with that.

Badgerbird · 24/02/2017 12:44

Wow I've picked up some great pyjamas and button down night dresses (for bf) in primark this week. So nice to be in comfy pjs again :) Also was shopping with mum and big sis and ended up buying frilly dress and sparkly shoes for our baby girl. It's started!!!

I'm going to Mothercare event next thurs but won't be there till after 7 so hope that's ok. My friend works for mothercare and has managed to get me a couple of maternity bits from her work "staff shop" for £1 :)

dreaming I love your comment for sahs boss Grin Well handled sah!!

That's a bit rubbish bean :( we were pretty rushed at our 24 week one and midwife kept taking calls about payroll whilst with her! Got matb1 form though, just not entirely sure what to do with it as I'm self employed. Will call tax office re maternity allowance and ask then.Try not to overdo it at work eh, not worth it, you don't wanna get ill again.

Sitting in channel tunnel entrance waiting to go. On roadtrip to drive mum back to Spain this wknd Smile

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 24/02/2017 12:59

Hey Sah good for you.

Bean pressure them to sort your MATB1 form, it's important and normal for you to need it! Sorry about rushed appointment, I look forward to them just as a milestone so can understand you feel short changed.

It sounds like many of you are finding a JoJo bump support band useful. I would have to mail order one. How have you found the sizing? I was 8/10 (which is the JoJo Small size in the band) prior to pregnancy and people keep saying I have a neat bump without much difference elsewhere - but I don't want to cut my circulation off so wondering if I should go Medium which is 12-14... Any advice from those of you wearing one?

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 24/02/2017 13:01

Badger frilly girls cloths Smile lots of blue and white strips over here!
Safe drive and lots of leg stretches for you.

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 24/02/2017 13:01

Clothes and stripes grrr!

newbieho · 24/02/2017 13:27

I'm in for March catch up apart from 02 March, 20-26 March and 31 March.

1004Rise · 24/02/2017 13:29

Love the sparkly shoes Badger Smile I'm still a bit grumpy about how hard it is to find things that aren't pink or blue Hmm

Think the exercise did me good yesterday, no aches and pains this morning Grin

Very glad it's Friday, the weeks seem to be getting longer!

Sorry you had a rushed appointment bean that's rubbish. Agree you should be able to get your matb1 left at reception for you.

Off to France for work next week, pre-packed plenty snacks and taking a big enough suitcase for my pillow... otherwise I'll never sleep Smile bit concerned about long days, I'll just have to be sensible and remind myself I'm pregnant!!

Have the dates for our NHS classes now, 4 sessions of 2 hours all in March.

Adventure easy to say but try not to worry, all was good on your scan last week which is more accurate than the tape!

Well done for standing up for yourself sah!

Oh and I may just have eaten half a pack of biscuits, not my fault baby wanted them! BlushConfused

EsmesBees · 24/02/2017 13:29

Go for the smaller one dreams I reckon. They come up large (as is generally the way with all JoJo stuff, including their baby clothes Confused)

Had my 28 wk appointment earlier with my lovely midwife. All fine apart from the normal fuss about blood tests. I always warn them that I've got awkward veins and they might need to get the phlebotomist, but they always insist on having a go.

1004Rise · 24/02/2017 14:00

Dreams get the 8-10 one, I was the same size as you before being pregnant and it's the one I bought. Fits fine and there's still space for bigger bump Smile
